A nice place to eat, however we went on Sunday evening and the kitchen closes around 8.30pm so we were rushed to order desserts. But the food was nice and the service was good.

Can’t recommend this place enough. Staff are very friendly and the service is great. Food is always very good.

The service is 1st class. Food is hot & plentyful. The food is double checked at your table. Staff are always friendly & polite. The location of pastures lodge is very central for most villages. FEEDBACK the carvery could do with a counter bell to let matt know people are waiting. Also a sign needs to be in sight for customers not to stand in front of the kitchen doors. Keep up the good work pastures.

took an hour and a half to get me,my sisters and my dads food this is disappointing disgusting and unacceptable will not recommend to friends and family

Came for the first time to Pastures Lodge for tea and the food was amazing. Finley was attentive and gave brilliant service. The food was beautifully cooked and time waiting was fair. Overall price for food and drink was brilliant. Just want to add Finley was so busy and gave the same great service to all those around us, the whole atmosphere from the bar staff and food servers was welcoming and attentive. Would highly recommend

My friend and I had breakfast this morning at Pastures Lodge and it was delicious. The service was excellent and the staff are lovely, pleasant and very friendly. We were served by Ann and Michelle, both made sure our visit was a good experience. We will be going again.

Went for lunch this afternoon, staff were really informative and made me feel welcome. Was welcomed on entrance and was made aware of ordering process. Food was served promptly and was delicious, had the chicken fajitas and the Cajun sandwich, both very good portions and very worth the money. Meal check was done and dessert order was done at the table. Ann, Michelle Abbey and the bar staff, Finlay and Nat were lovely, would definitely recommend visiting.

We stayed here for 2 nights - the Saturday was for an amazing entertainment event with the fantastic singer, Kyle Tomlinson (from BGT) who was just wonderful. We stayed with friends and enjoyed the brilliant music and atmosphere! The second night our family came for the carvery and we celebrated our son’s birthday. We were absolutely delighted with the hotel. It is set in a beautiful location. The separate restaurant area is fabulous and even has an indoor soft play area which my granddaughter loved! There was an outdoor play area as well which we didn’t use as it was raining. The whole hotel is so clean and welcoming! The rooms were well set out with a huge comfy bed, lots of storage, (and loads of hangers which I like). The room wasn’t massive but was well equipped for us with a dressing table (lots of plug sockets and 2 phone charger points), 2 chairs and a double wardrobe. It included tea and coffee facilities with biscuits played out on the dressing table; inside the wardrobe was an iron and ironing board, a fan (for the summer!), and a free safe. The bathroom was really well equipped too, with nice toiletries and a really powerful shower! The food was absolutely delicious - we had wraps and chips on one day for lunch and then the amazing carvery (which was too much to finish!) on the next day! Breakfast was included as we booked direct on the site and there is a promotion currently. We had a full English on one day and Eggs Benedict the following. There was a good continental section too! All our meals appeared freshly cooked and hot! I have absolutely no complaints about this hotel - and the one thing that stands out for me is the amazing staff! I have never come across people like them before - they are all so kind and caring and can’t do enough for you! They absolutely make this place so special and both my husband and me just want to express our thanks to each and every one of them (especially Lauren and Michelle on reception) .

Great place to eat and drink coupled with fantastic staff, Kev, Nat, Alex and the team made the visit extra special!

My partner and I regularly visit pastures lodge for meals and events. We have been coming here for years and find the staff extremely welcoming, attentive and hardworking especially, Fin, Alex and Mollie. Food is always very good and I would recommend it for a visit. Extremely child friendly

As usual the staff and meal was as I expected this place has never let me down . Would recommend to couples and families as there is a indoor area for kids and an outdoor area for them when warmer weather is here ..a+ unfortunately never took any photos but you will be surprised

Regularly visit this establishment for meals, and can honestly say that its a very welcoming place The staff are very friendly, and accommodating. The menu has a wide choice, of meals that are very well presented by the chefs. I would highly recommend that people visit and enjoy the hospitality.

Came here today with my family and wow what can I say the service we received was lovely but the food was amazing definitely recommend

I don't live locally but love this restaurant. Whenever I visit the area, I eat here three or four times with friends and family. We all enjoy the experience. Nothing is too much trouble for the lovely staff.

Always a friendly atmosphere, quick bar service, usual wait time for cooked meals but worth waiting for, still never had a bad meal since it opened. Can get busy but that's a good sign, pick less busy times, 4-8 weekdays is looking good with a quid off a beer!

Food gone massively down hill! I left my main meal, was too busy to complain to anyone. We used to go 3 to 4 times a month but as things stand I won't be going again. The staff are always great but the food since the menu change is sub par

Well we came regular for meals but we came tonight because it was my birthday it wasn’t busy with the snow being down and around wasn’t many in lady did say that there was a 40 min wait 55 minutes later food arrived peas was cold chips was cold fish was greasy but hot my husbands meal was the same says main meal and cake for birthday no not any more just a main meal don’t think we will be calling for quite a while not very good any more

We had Christmas Day lunch at Reeds hotel at Pastures Lodge. The only negative was the bar service, no beer on draft and very limited availability on drinks, basically if you didn’t drink lager then it was cans out of the fridge ! However, the dinner was excellent, lovely food, hot and served well. Only 1 recommendation would be not to leave it so long between each course. Me and my family had a very enjoyable Christmas dinner, Thankyou to all staff at Reeds

Visited the pastures today myself, wife and son waited over 30 minutes for something that had been waiting to be served a good 10 minutes, cold chips(under cooked) and wedges x 2 and dried chicken no garnish and quite small plates,we would of complained but my son was that hungry he'd eaten the majority of his wedges before I'd realised how cold the wedges were ,was not to happy for a nearly £40 meal.

Arrived at Pastures Lodge at 1.45 ..... all 7 of us excited at our first time out for Christmas lunch...... what a joke it turned out to be.... we were seated by 2pm and our starter didn't arrive at our table till 3pm....that should have been a sign of things to come!!!!! At 4.30 when we had all lost the will to live....and looking around it seemed a lot of other people were feeling the same way as us......I went to find a manager to ask when we would actually be getting our main meal to which I was told there were 8 other tables in front of us before we would get ours........ when I went back to my family to tell them it would be at least another hour before we would get any food..... looking at them I realised we couldn't wait any longer as it was beyond a joke and was not worth the wait anymore....... we received a full refund...... and went home..... to a home made chicken burger..... NOT the Christmas lunch we had all been looking forward to...... it has totally ruined our Christmas Day and I would not go there now at any time of the year.... I wish we had just had dinner at home!!!!!

Can't remember giving such a low score on a restaurant before but the service was beyond a joke. We were there for more than two hours and only received our starters out of a three course meal. Ruined Christmas day for us with 5 very disappointed and hungry children we got our money back.

Pastures Lodge Christmas Day Lunch booked for 2pm, what a mess. Will not be going back again took 3/4 of an hour to get our starter. Got the main at 4.30 and mine wasn't even cooked. Took it back complaint was ignored and so was getting a replacement. We walked out at 5pm after eating only our starter. We did manage to get a dessert but took as takeaway.

Room 23 I was in was nice n clean but pillows were lumpy..need new pillows..simmons beautycrest pillows would be good..other hotels use these..over 2 hours to give out 2 course meal was way too long so need more staff to serve food..breakfast was ok..enough choice..location was ok but not near any shops to have a walk around..albeit I would stay again.

Hotel is very nice, easy fast and efficient check in. Had a meal over the road and despite it being busy the food arrived quickly. It was hot, tasty and good value for money. Special thanks to waitress Alex, who did a really great job, a credit to the company.

The starters took over an hour to come out to our table. The mains were very slow. The deserts were that slow we asked for our money back as didn't want them due to waiting 30 mins. The mixed grill wasn't nice all the meat was chewy. The kiddies meal didn't come with a drink or dessert, these were bought separately. Overall will not be returning, as the wait is too long, and it wasn't busy and for the price the quality of food was definitely not worth it.

We had our annual family meal on Saturday night.....our table was in the large back room which was cold and we were the only dinner party in there so we wasn't part of the atmosphere like the rest of the restaurant, we had pensioners in our group that felt the cold so it wasn't ideal.....we all pretty much ordered our food at the same time but 4 members of our party was left waiting an hour and half before they got there meals which by that time everyone else had finished theirs. My meal when it arrived was disgusting.....I ordered a rump steak, it came like it had been steam rollered it was insipid in colour like it had been boiled rather than fried or flame grilled and had no taste at all also adding it was served cold. The staff were pretty good to be honest but whoever runs the kitchen needs replacing because the food that was served there were only 2 meals that were barely acceptable out of 10........can't fault the bar staff they did a great job but your food and food service is the worst I've ever experienced and I'm sorry to say I will never set foot in this establishment again.........ps I hope your fine dining restaurant gives customers a better experience because you're pub grub is absolutely gross.

Spoilt by the fact that the bar in hotel was closed so had to walk across car park in pouring rain for a drink.How do you expect elderly and disabled to manage????????

We didn't stay at the hotel but 6 of us had meals and thoroughly enjoyed them. Would definitely recommend. The food is great. Reasonably priced and a good menu to choose from. A short wait for the food as I believe it is cooked to order and fresh ingredients. The staff are friendly and give a good service. I highly recommend.

Only visited for a meal so cannot pass comment on rooms. Meal was great. Long queues for carvery but it was a busy Sunday dinner. Will be returning.

I have come here many many times and generally really enjoyed eating here. However as of this week we will not ever be returning back here for anything other than the carvery. The menu has been completely redone. Gone is the birthday meal. Gone is the custom burger options and removing double stack cheese rings. Gone is any good portion size. Gone is over half of the menu and dessert menu. Gone is actual warm food when you get it. The burgers were horrible and that's a tragedy cause I loved them everytime. You have changed the beef quality, it's tasteless. Can't even choose your own bun from brioche to seeded. Double stack has less vs what we used to get, the portion size is tiny compared to what we used to get, especially coleslaw. The chips were almost cold, the ketchup in the sachets felt warmer. So you get far less on your plate, lower quality food. To make things worse, the prices have gone up, and not by a couple of pence either. I have the older menu saved on my phone still and have made a good comparison The only saving grace for this place for me now, is the carvery, if you decide to mess around with that too then you'll be loosing even more customers. I used to always recommend this place. What a shame.

Great food, drinks are a little pricey but the place is best enjoyed during quieter times when the staff look less stressed. Been plenty of times and haven't had a major issue with food yet. Would be nice to provide an option for fries too when people don't like chunky chips. EDIT: this place isn't as good as it used to be. The menu has been changed for the worse, tons of stuff removed, food tastes cheaper, burgers aren't the same at all. Food arrives cold, portion sizes are even smaller. The only thing saving this place (until they ruin that too) is the carvery. We used to be a regular customer here, but no more.

I didn’t actually know this in advance, it was only when I noticed I’d been charged more for my second round that I found out. So next time I go I’ll probably arrive a little earlier! The pub also has a decent sized function room, we didn’t go in it but it was full, Ricky Tomlinson was on for one of the events they were holding. Bar staff and waiting staff were very polite and friendly, this is worth noting as I tend to return to places where you’re made to feel welcome and this was the case at the Pastures.

What a rip off this place is for soft play area. I had taken a pouch of food and some bottles of water for my gkids and was told I had been seen on cctv and wasnt allowed to do that. They charhe £1.25 for a pack of crisps here!

Burger was amazing! Don’t know where to start sooo much food. Had the steak burger, staff polite I got a little confused as couldn’t order at the bar but had to go to a food till but once explained of the procedure it was fine

Nice carvery which staff will plate up for you, no mint sauce and the queues are massive, wouldn't go again on a Sunday and order was not correct. One staff in particular was great...toilet, outdoor area to play and eat and plenty of parking onsite

A party of 9 went for a meal for our granddaughters birthday,we were put in a corner in the very back room but the smell of damp was very overwhelming, the paper on the ceiling was hanging down and water was being caught in two buckets next to our table. The food was ok but the experience was spoilt by the smell.

We are a family , we visited this restaurant for a carvery. It was most delicious 😋 10/10 , the best carvery for miles, plenty of meat on the plate, all freshly made veg, good stuffing and gravy. Staff polite. Clean restaurant. Good for families or non families.

I had an evening meal here recently, and the experience was overall quite positive. The staff were very friendly, and the food was good. I had the fish, which was excellent.The atmosphere in the family room was fantastic, making it a great spot for families. The prices were reasonable, and there was plenty of parking available. I plan to visit earlier next time to take advantage of the play center. Update September 2024 : I went back for a family carvery, and the quality was good over all. However, the only downside in my opinion is that you don't scoop your own vegetables at the carvery I don't know if this is a new thing. So you may have to keep asking for more to be added if you enjoy a decent sized carvery or more of one thing than something else. (one roast potato at a time) Other wise very good.

This review concerns the public house/restaurant. Our party of four enjoyed the meal and the ambience. The food and drink is priced with value in mind and the service and helpfulness of the staff was good. Ultimately, we would not hesitate to recommend the venue to others.

Been a couple of times over the last couple of weeks for food, really big portions and lots to select from. We didn’t pre book prior to arriving, we didn’t stay at the hotel. We only used the pastures for food. Will be returning.

I would recommend a stay at this hotel, it's clean and tidy and has everything you need. The staff are polite and welcoming. You can eat in the evening, across the car park at the Pastures restaurant too

Pastures Lodge pub review. Food ok, drinks ok. Hot food served on cold plates is an amateur kitchen mistake. Great eating cold rice......Why when the staff ask "is everything ok, then you say, "actually no'" they go into shock mode. Then say "do we want it correcting." It shouldn't happen in the first place. On a positive note they do have beer mats.👍

Great food but not cheap. Second time same meal as before. Salad had shrunk to a dab of green leaves from a bag. The wrap was half the size. Coleslaw was cheaper. Chips were undercooked. Not great. Dropped to 2 stars from 4.

Went out for a meal. Was clean and friendly environment. Quite busy as it was a Friday evening but service was good and quick considering the amount of people in there. Toilets were well maintained and a good selection of food and drinks.

Menu changed the sharing platter not as good as they used to be.the pots with cause in are half the size and the sour cream has vanished.im not saying te food was bad , it was very tasty.

Went for my birthday, the meal was nice as usual but when it came to the birthday cake 🎂 I had to prove that I had a birthday meal by showing my receipt even though I booked the table the day before, that made me uncomfortable, the wateress went away came back and said birthday cake was no longer on the menu!, but on the website it clearly states that cake is available. Messaged the pub on its website couldn't be bothered to reply. Update, at the time I had my meal it did state that cake was available on the website, since then they have now removed it!.

Called in and had a carvery a bit of a long queue you don't put your own vegg on beef very dry Turkey and pork nice, and they did put lots of vegg on for you. The food was hot and tasty I would go again clean tables and friendly staff

Food was shocking. We ordered fish fingers for child and pizza and pasta. We left it all. Would not recommend or return.

Long time since we'd been here. Had a voucher for an afternoon tea, and combined the occasion of the Tour of Britain bike race to come and cheer the riders and use the voucher. Whilst the tea part was ok, we decided to have a pint and glass of wine. The beer didn't taste ok, but having not tried the beer before gave it the benefit of doubt.

Ok if there's just 2 of you but awful if you book a family gathering. Went for a family party and wasn't allowed to pre book and pay in advance. I didnt expect us all to eat at the same time but we all ordered within 5 minutes of each other yet some didn't receive theirs for well over an hour after we had finished eating ours. I made a complaint to manager but wasn't offered anything to compensate. We had a few that was under 18 and had to buy crisps cos they were waiting 2 hours for their meal to arrive. Won't be booking anymore family gatherings , not very good when you order your meal at 7.30 and it comes out at 9.30 . Need to let people pre order as long as they pay in advance

Large family pub that's sectioned into different parts to cater for weddings or other family events. There was even a large children's play area. The food was excellent, with large, generous portions. The staff were friendly and helpful . Highly recommended.

Went here with a bowling group. Most of us had the carvery. I have been to a few carveries but have never had my vegetables put on my plate for me, I can understand the reason so there is less waste, I had 2 very small parsnips, the cauliflower was hard, roast potatoes were cooked too much. We were very disappointed with the meal. A few of us ordered sweets which took nearly 45 minutes to arrive. £6.25 for a gin and lemonade is extortionate, never paid as much as that...ever. Don't think we will be booking or recommend this pub
