We thought £15 was a bit steep for a continental breakfast (£6 extra for the hot part) so we expected it to be absolutely amazing - we were very disappointed. Their website states "slow-rise sourdough from the bakery oven and warm croissants", the reality was bread that was so stale you had to toast it to make it edible, and stale croissants and pains au chocolats. I complained to a member of staff to be told that they buy their pastries in frozen then heat them up in their ovens, she went back to the kitchen and they sent her out with - another box of stale croissants - it was absolutely appalling given that they claim to have their own in house bakery, there was however no aroma whatsoever of any fresh baking taking place. The rest of the breakfast fayre was also sub standard for £15, the only freshly prepared fruit was melon. The only fruit juice was cloudy apple, I requested orange juice and was told it would come from a box, I would have expected freshly squeezed oj for a £15 continental breakfast. I find it perplexing that they say they have an in house bakery, yet appear unable to serve any fresh bakery products at breakfast. The in house bakery opened up at 9.30 am but none of those products were available at their breakfast, even the croissants were different. You have to question the management's decision to economise by putting out stale bakery products for breakfast, particularly to customers who are paying hundreds of pounds a night to stay there. We were offered no customer recovery whatsoever when I complained and we decided after this awful breakfast offering that we will not be visiting the Bedruthan in the future, although we have been frequent visitors in the past.

This spot is great for a really lovely meal as a couple or with family / friends - and healthy. There’s a nice selection of food that Ottolenghi himself would give a nod to. All clearly cooked to order, from scratch. The bill? exceptionally reasonable for a lovely hotel, as are the drinks. Will certainly return the next time we’re in the area.

£100 parking fine! We chose to eat in this restaurant and parked in the car park. We have visited many times and never seen a pay and display machine or terminal in the reception of the restaurant. The meal cost us over £90. The person who booked us in for the meal never mentioned the requirement to enter our registration number into a terminal or asked if we had. As a Cornwall resident I feel hugely disappointed at the treatment and lack of care from the management. Would not recommend this establishment.

Ordered beers first, to be followed by wine. No beers arrived. Quite nice beetroot salad and tempura battered fish/seafood bits. Padron peppers hard as rocks. Sent back to be cooked properly; second lot only marginally softer. Hispi cabbage was the texture of a dishcloth - wilted and soggy. Looked boiled, rather than charred. Schnitzel had thick layer of doughy/floury uncooked batter each side of the meat (price of this was, as a result, refunded). Hake dish with fennel was quite nice. All round, very disappointed. Would not recommend.

A superb view, surprisingly not busy for Sunday lunch. Limited choice for Sunday lunch but adequate. Lovely main course and plenty of food. However, on the dessert menu they offered Knickerbocker Glory for £5 extra over the standard two-course price. £5 represented quite a high surcharge so I was expecting something quite special. What arrived was at best ordinary. In fact I would have been disappointed if it had come as part of the standard price but to have paid £5 extra for it left me feeling ripped off. Those who chose the standard desserts at no extra cost were happy with theirs.

As a local, I often took friends to the Wild Cafe as we often had a fair meal, but since Covid, they have changed it. Lunch is now a help yourself deli type buffet that looked terrible. Mixed salads were swimming in a greasy yellow liquid, flat breads all had olives on them and one batch had Marmite on it too! We decided to go for a homemade pasty as we recognised that out of all the peculiar foods. I asked for a plain salad with no dressing. After waiting a while we had our salad which was all leaf and not much else and we bit into our pasties. It was disgusting. The meat was large chunks of very hard meat, some sort of jelly, whole peppercorns and far too much salt. It looked like dog food. we could only eat our leafy salad. We decided to stay and look at the view and have a cream tea instead. After trying to saw into the scones, we ended up laughing at how bad it all was. I have to say that none of the food was covered in the cafe or the bar, which is disgraceful as Covid is high in the area. All the deli food was taken back to the kitchen. I just hope it wasn't served up later. We won't go again.

Sadly there is no way to express this but the hotel has lost its way, service is poor, investment in the rooms, restaurant and bar is hap hazard and non existent. They are living off the location and view but without training the staff this will slowly become evident, we had rain dripping through the lights at 3am in the morning and that was before the storms hit, there are simply too many other shortcomings to write about now, in the last 5 years they have reclined for the money they are charging.

The food took a while to arrive but our sandwiches were lovely. The only downside was ordering drinks and coffees as there was only one person behind the bar who was either tired or disorganised as it was a real palaver making a coffee for the people on the queue before us needing several trips to the kitchen for crockery, milk etc. However, that said we would definitely return as the staff and general atmosphere are so welcoming.

Just spent 4 days at Bedruthan Steps as a group of 7 adults and 6 kids. The hotel had a brilliant balance of fun filled activities for the kids and sophisticated adult areas for the grown ups. All of this was added to by the wonderful views and access to a large picturesque beach and cliffs, good food and drinks in the bar and restaurant and a decadent spa with plenty of treatments. Most importantly though the staff on every occasion were wonderful, which in my opinion makes a place. The only thing I would improve on is the soft play room which felt dated and in need of a refresh. It was such a hit with the kids it to me seems an area which would be highly worth expanding and improving on.Well done Bedruthan Steps, a wonderful stay with you though and have recommended highly to friends.

The hotel was a favourite with us when our children were young and three generations of our family have stayed here in the past.On this occasion we were renting a cottage nearby and eating most meals at local restaurants. Our memories of the hotel and some good times there prompted us to visit for Sunday lunch having previously reserved a table via the hotel's website.Receiving desk a little frosty but once in the restaurant we were met by a wonderful waitress who was extremely helpful in guiding us through the menu and options, a lady who has been at the hotel for a good many years. Lovely restaurant ambience with some tables having a beautiful view over Mawgan Porth Beach.Food portions are more than adequate and food quality very good which consisted of a sharing platter for mains and a selection of excellent desserts also for sharing.Coffee can either be taken at the table or in the relaxed lounge area and a wander around the hotel looking at the art on display adds to the interest. The hotel, although appearing rather box like from the approach has a wonderful interior.

The lovely receptionist or deputy (annoyed I cannot remember her name) she was so caring and kind and went that extra mile to ensure our stay was the way we had wanted it to be, two mums travelling solo with 5 young kids she was a breath of fresh air. There was a packed programme for the kids. from craft making to movie watching to magicians. there is a brilliant soft play for them. in fact we hardly saw our kids for most of the time we were there. there was loads of other kids there and they had a great time. if they had a good time that meant we had a good one as they were so busy it let us have some time to ourselves. which was brilliant. the food was bamazing. my daughter has coeliac disease and diabetes. we made sure the hotel new this before we arrived. they were more than prepared for it. we sat down with the chef on the first day and he prepared a menu for her for the rest of the stay. he was great he said that anything on the menu that was available he could do gluten free. that was great as most places give you a couple of options and that is it. but not here she could choose what ever she wanted. she loved it. all the staff were briefed and new exactly what she could or could not eat and also about cross contamination. we could not fault them. the whole stay was brilliant we will definetly come back. ALL the staff were polite and could not do enough for you. we would highly recommend this hotel as a place to stay with young children but also the restaurant if you have coeliacs.

We have just been down to Bedruthan Steps Hotel and Spa again. Such a warm, friendly and efficient welcome as always. We enjoyed a delicious lunch on Saturday (fish and chips highly recommended!) followed by an hour in the jacuzzi. Both lunch and jacuzzi were enjoyed with the amazing views over the beach at Mawgan Porth.A storm was raging outside but we remained warm and cosy! Next day, after our customary fabulous breakfast of local food, we drove a short way along the coast for a Sunday morning bracing walk along the cliffs to see the Bedruthan Steps. Can’t beat it for a relaxing, rejuvenating Cornish break! Before we left, we had a look at the Christmas grotto and snowball bouncy castle and only wished we had come with a little child so that we could have seen Father Christmas, made a decoration for the tree and taken part in all the Christmas fun that all the children and families were obviously enjoying. It’s a MUST for us next year!

5 night stay here with our 2 daughters (11 & 9) and 9 month old dog. First impressions as you pull up are that the hotel is a little "old" but this is not the case once inside we're the decor is modern and relaxing, the setting and views are stunning and the staff friendly and helpful. We had a room on the first floor with sea views (definitely worth it) which was comfortable if a little tight for all of us plus small dog. There is no aircon which surprised me for a 4* hotel and as we were blessed with good weather it did get a little warm and close at night. Setting is amazing above the beach at Mawgen Porth which is beautiful. It's an 10 minute walk to the beach. Indoor pool is a good size and warm. Outdoor pool is large but bracing! The restaurant is comfortable and all the meals we had in the Wild Cafe were very good with the kids well catered for with a buffet before 6pm and kids menu after. There is an adults only restaurant downstairs if you prefer which we didn't get to try. Service is a little "variable" but generally friendly. Breakfasts are the usual buffet and very good with some daily changing "specials". I was slightly surprised to be charged extra for orange juice at breakfast but Coffee is very good though! There is kids entertainment every evening which was very popular with the under eights but our two felt it was a little young for them. Although the hotel is most definitely family friendly it's probably more geared to younger kids (<8). Overall we'd definitely go again and wouldn't hesitate to recommend.

lovely view, excellent staff, good service - however really poor quality food, 3 of us ordered the lamb chops, tough as old boots, actually needed a steak knife to cut into the lamb, it wasn't just mine all of us had the same problem, waiter was very apologetic and we decided to replace for steaks, the steaks were an improvement but lacked any flavour, day 2 had lunch, 2 of us had crab sandwiches, 9 pounds for a crab sandwich is at the high end, however i required a microscope to see the crab, bread was a little dry, we asked the waitress to confirm was this normal the little amount of crab that was in the sandwich, she replaced them and whilst there was a slight improvement it was stuffed out with a mountain of rocket, could do better.

Four of us visited the Wild Cafe for a meal while we were on holiday in Cornwall this summer. We were impressed by the decor and general vibe at first. The views are amazing!! It looked very nice. However what we noticed after that was the loud racket that was coming from the dining room! There were children screaming, plates crashing, chairs scraping. It was alarming. It took ages to get drinks ordered. We finally got our menus but there were not enough menus for all of us. There appeared to be two menus- one standard seaside fare (fish and chips, burgers, etc) and one more haute cuisine. Three of us ordered either fish and chips/burger but my husband went for a more adventurous monkfish tail with a tomato sauce for £18. The food arrived well most of it arrived. Apparently the waiter 'forgot' to order my fish and chips. There was no apology. My husbands monkfish was the size of a starter. There was nothing to it. Oh and he got two cauliflower florets on the side. So I waited until mine arrived and my family had finished eating. When the bill arrived we were not impressed with the fact that we had paid £63 for burgers, fish and chips and an extra small monkfish starter. All in all don't be fooled by the views. There are so many quality places to eat in Cornwall. This is not one of them.

Just had a lovely spa day with at the Bedruthan finished with lunch in the cafe. Served by Anna who was great and got use everything we needed and was really professional but relaxed which we liked. We were given breads, vegetables and hummus to start and that was followed by fritters, a tart and salads which was all vegetarian. I was worried being a meat eater but it was just right after a spa morning. Sharing dessert went down really well with the other half. it had a bit of chocolate, a mousse thing and a bit of cake that I had.

Varied, interesting menu, with both local and exotic ingredients. It's useful that they divide up the eating areas so as to provide one mainly for families and another for diners without children - the hotel is family friendly, but also seeks to please its customers who may be seeking a spot of quiet. Puddings were a winner - on our first night, the white chocolate mousse for one was so generous that we not only shared it but had to carry it back to our hotel room to finish it later! Good price range overall, and plenty of choice.

We stopped for an ice cream while on the search for our car keys which we lost on the beach!! 🤦🏽‍♀️ The rum and raisin ice cream was AMAZING and no complaints from the kids and hubby with their choices! The lovely gent who served us got his wife Zara to help us with locating the keys which luckily where found and left at the RLNI across but was closed, she managed to find someone who got the keys So thank you so much for your help lovely people and for the ice creams! 🥰 wishing you all the best x
