Visited the Wilbrahams on my lunch break. I found everyone to be incredibly welcoming and friendly. There was a wide range of options on the food menu, I went with the grilled cheese sandwich and was not disappointed! Generous portions, great value for money and friendly staff.

Great food and staff. Unfortunately, it's not a suitable place for kids. You would expect 3pm on a Sunday would be suitable. Full on middle aged men's swearing and gobbling off all afternoon. Okay with mates but do not take your kids

Such a shame the heart has been torn out of this once lovely interior. Was a historic old pub with wood panelling, original old doors and separate bars. Now one big space with several large screen TVs on the walls dominating the whole pub and making it difficult to have a conversation without shouting. Awful choice of beers and all served chilled. Couldn't wait to leave and find somewhere calm and relaxing.

Unwelcoming atmosphere. Have allergies can only drink full fat coke ie Pepsi or Coca Cola from can or bottle non available asked if could use my own yes but was charged 80p because of using my own which was later refunded on complaint. Bar staff then found coke in bottle which when served was flat. Customers brought chippy food in we asked if we could do like wise and told yes by bar staff to then get a barrage of rude sarcastic comments by landlady locals were horrified she then also refused to come out and face us and apologies for her very unprofessional behaviour in a public place when invited to do so. Definitely somewhere not to visit far more welcoming pubs in Nantwich that know what the meaning of professional customer service is

My friends and I came to Nantwich and came across this pub for lunch. Lovely food, in a nice beer garden with fantastic service. Has so few reviews as the pub was previously on here known as The Wilbraham Arms - Bar and Kitchen) We arrived shortly before last food orders for the afternoon and their chef kindly stayed on to ensure that our food was both cooked and okay for us. In the last 5 months this pub has opened and closed more times than I can remember! The company that are looking after the pub are laughable! The Brewery that own it are not much better.... they have single handily destroyed that pub... when it is open there is no atmosphere and no beer... nobody ventures there any more because you never know if its open or closed! Get some permanent staff in there... invest some money in its repairs and promoting the place and it could be a decent pub again... but while the pub is left how it is now it has no hope of succeeding and will probably become flats (and that's the last thing we need around here) get a grip and sort it out!!!!!

Then told mushroom starter off, no king prawns or pie and mash as they had been very busy yesterday! Pie and mash not ready for another hour!!Good start!! However prawns served on bruschetta, very nice as was the black pudding and bacon. 3 steaks nicely cooked and well presented. Place busy BUT only one person serving and he was also waiting on the tables until nearly two o'clock which was a pity. This is a lovely place to eat but needs a little more organisation.

As we live close to the Wilbrahams we decided after looking at all of the posted pictures to have an evening at this establishment. We were greeted by a young female member of staff, must add we had not booked. We were informed there were tables available.Sitting down we waited 10-15 minutes to be spoken to for drinks or food.I asked for a pint of bitter, to be informed that there was none as she believed the lines are being cleaned ( on a Wednesday evening in xmas week?) so changing brands I asked for an erdinger ( never heard of that one , was the reply)wine it is then. None of the menu had prices on just individual numbers. Our grandson ordered a beef burger, my wife ordered Salmon and I ordered fish. Drinks served we noticed that two other tables were also waiting. As we were waiting I noticed two friends were also in having drinks. While talking to them I was informed that the beer he had ordered was not drinkable. Upon returning to the table I was informed they had no burgers! We had garlic bread with cheese topping for starters which was very nice. This took 47 mins after we arrived. Our mains were also very nice. The only sweet that was required for our grandson which was part of the children's set menu, was ice cream. Finished and getting a little late we tried to settle the bill. This young lady was not the only member of staff who was working, but when the time comes to settle the bill she was busy serving drinks to a large sociable group of office staff. Finally we got the bill, questioning that our grandsons J20 should have been free as part of his fixed menu we were informed that it was cordial only. Then we were also informed that the sweet in the children's section was also not part of the deal. The bill was £63 which is not cheap for a Wednesday meal, you may be my nearest establishment but I will not be returning

Everywhere was packed with it being the first weekend of Christmas parties, we headed to the Wilbrahans and were very surprised it was so quiet. We visited The Wilbraham Bar and Grill yesterday evening for a family catch up having heard that it was under new management and it had, had a couple of good reviews. I must start by saying the atmosphere when we arrived at 1745 was wonderful. It was nice and busy and we were seated on a table at the back of the restaurant (there were 6 of us). However, despite it being early and not at maximum capacity, the service wasn't the best - it was extremely slow. One of our party started a self service routine from the bar; we placed the order for drinks and saw them waiting at the bar on a tray, ready to be bought to our table. The ice in my gin steadily melting and the coke slowly losing it's fizz so having confirmed they were our drinks, we took them to our table and served ourselves. Not the best first impression. Now, me being me on a carb free lifestyle routine at the moment, to start, I ordered the prawn and avocado cocktail without the ciabatta. It is expectation for prawns to be cold when they arrive in a prawn cocktail but it is certainly not expectation for them still to be blue - raw which they were so, I sent them back without a substitute as it put me off. I played it safe and ordered another portabello gin instead (thank goodness for this gin as I was entering drunkenness quite rapidly). Again, self service kicks in. Onto the mains. Everyone, except myself, ordered steak which received excellent reviews on taste and tenderness. The chips also received great reviews. This was a great shame for the table of 9 sat behind us who came in around 1930 as they were informed that the steaks had sold out (it was a table of rugby lads, I can't imagine it went down too well). For my main course, I chose the Malaysian vegetable curry without the naan (no carbs) and didn't intend on eating the rice however, I had to eat some as this was the best part of the dish. The curry comprised of red onion, red pepper and what looked like salad tomatoes - it was not a good texture. The vegetables were all sliced with the onions still holding their crunch (this is not acceptable in a curry) and the sauce resembled that of coconut milk with some orange spice in it, I would say turmeric was key element however I can't quote as I don't know what recipe is being used. We didn't stick around for dessert as it took a rather long while to have plates cleared and we didn't dare order another round of drinks! I think the lack of food consumption is why I pretty much stumbled out. Please can you consider your headcount in employees as the two ladies who were working front of house (one on the bar and one on the floor) definitely tried their best but obviously struggled with accommodating all of your customers which long term, is going to contribute to loosing custom and it would be a shame to see another management team leave this premises based on easily rectifiable issues. The kitchen situation, to be honest, I don't think this is excusable and failed on service.I am sorry to write what seems like a very critical review. Nonetheless, without such honesty - where can the improvement lie?

Me and a friend came here on Wednesday night (19th Oct).We ordered two drinks which were 1 water and 1 wine.Sat at our table which has dirty cutlery on. We ordered our food which was one Caesar salad and then a portion of the creamy garlic mushrooms and a portion of chips. This food took around 50 minutes to arrive to our table when the restaurant was less than half full and also very simple meals. When the food had finally arrived, the Caesar salad was drenched in a sauce that I'm not entirely sure was Caesar sauce and the creamy mushrooms were tasteless with alot more sauce than mushrooms. We then went to pay for the meal to have the waitress tell us that all the prices on the menu and till were incorrect and that she had to think of what the prices were. Not entirely impressed with our evening to be honest! I know that the pub has been taken over by new owners but we still weren't impressed as the evenings that we had with the previous owners were a lot more enjoyable. When the drinks were delivered they were cold, We complained and they were taken away and return hot.The barman delivered 2 plates of sandwiches cakes and scones. The sandwiches were delicious but the scones were rock hard and we couldn't cut them let alone eat them. I complained and were told there was not any more. The barman offered more cake but by that time we were very disappointed with the whole experience and I felt very embarrassed for my friends and myself. We came her as a party of 3 a week ago and the food was superb, well cooked and the best chips i have ever tasted, so for my partner's birthday we decided to invite some friends and family for a Birthday meal, the food was ok but the chips were almost burnt and tasted like they were cooked in dirty oil, and lukewarm. Infact most of the food was just lukewarm, my fish cakes tasted like they had been microwaved from frozen although they were piping hot, no brown edges like they had been oven baked or lightly fried and wheres the sweet chilli sauce , A visit to the pheasant or the Cholmondeley Arms would show the quality expected from gastro priced food. Very disappointing!!!!! I could have cooked a better meal myself.

Went with a group of friends for afternoon tea that turned into very boozy late night as such a lovely place. Staff were fabulous and service was very good even when the place got busier later. Afternoon Tea food wise was disappointing as other reviewers have said. We used Groupon vouchers and not sure I would want to pay anymore than £10 for what we had (this included glass of prosecco). Sandwiches were on thick white bread that was a little stale as though they had been prepared some time earlier. Scones were beautiful albeit our cream tasted of garlic (assume the cream had been left in fridge near garlic and taken on taste). It was quickly replaced though with apologies, more cream/jam and warm fresh scones. Cant complain, things happen and they dealt with it very well. Cakes were just shop bought small choc brownies and small 'slab' cakes sliced very thin with a bunch of grapes included for some strange reason. Actual food was disappointing and needs more home made cakes and better presentation for me. Staff were fabulous though, couldn't fault them at all. Friendly, professional and efficient. Building itself was lovely, nicely decorated and clean. Tables and chairs were comfortable. Would definitely go again for drinks.

We arrived, really fast service. Where given a private, romantic table. There was a member of staff who provided us with the afternoon tea platter first with sandwiches and really nice tea pot of tea for myself and perfectly brewed coffee for my wife. The cakes arrived with fresh clotted cream and jam that accompanied the gorgeous scones. The atmosphere although quiet was perfect for our cheap group on afternoon out. The members of staff couldn't do enough for us. Would we go again: most definately. It was a great experience and the food was perfect.Would we recommend to friends : yes I would highly recommend the afternoon tea.

My experience of the afternoon tea is very similar to other people. The food does not tease good and the service is really bad. The afternoon tea came 40 minutes after the coffee. They do not provide refill for free and I ate the very low quality of food with cold coffee. The service is not very good, I do not think I will visit here again.

A friend and I went for lunch today to the Wilbraham Bar and kitchen. We were the only customers in the place. When we were shown the menu we were told that there was no soup and no pasta. Asked why she said it was because yesterday was a Monday. I settled for the smoked salmon sandwich. She returned saying that there was no smoked salmon! I made a comment that Tuesday was obviously a bad day to come. During our meal half a pint of lager was delivered to the kitchen. (We were still the only customers) As we were about to leave a customer came in and asked what the pasta dish was today. We were surprised when the waitress went into the kitchen to ask (I thought there was no pasta on the menu today?) She returned and told the customer what the pasta dish was! The customer waited to collect the dish to take it to his office. As we left we stopped to talk to him, explaining that we were told there was no pasta. He invited us to wait and see what they had made for him. In due course a large dish of pasta was brought out, covered in foil. When we expressed surprise to the waitress she told us it had only just come on the menu. Now, I ask you, how long does it take to cook pasta? It only took 10 minutes for the regular customer to receive his. Again I repeat we were the only customers in the place and yet pasta could not be prepared for us, although it can be for a regular customer. What does that say about the place? I live very locally to the Wilbraham Bar but will not be going in again. So my advice is don't go if you want soup, pasta or smoked salmon, don't go on a Tuesday and don't go unless you have an agreement with the kitchen. In fact don't go at all!

Went here for afternoon tea on a Groupon gift voucher, oh dear what a disappointment. On arrival we were each given a glass of Prosecco of dubious quality, tea of coffee were not offered, we had to ask for it after the board arrived containing the afternoon tea. finger sandwiches of thick white bread contained cheese, cheese and cucumber and a ham , all very dry. Two slices each of a fruit loaf and a Madeira type cake and two scones with a tidy dish of jam and a tiny dish of synthetic cream..Coffee arrived after we asked for it and that was palatable. There was no atmosphere to the place. Based on this experience I doubt that I would eat there again.

Whilst an awful lot better than the catastrophe that was the previous restaurant (closed in about 2013 in the end) - the new venture looks smart and classy. But it's actually a little over the top for my liking including the prices. Burgers were good, but the overly attentive manager who wanted to talk to us every ten minutes was irritating.Other mains took ages to arrive and were not really quite as fine dining as they claim they are.

Very disappointing, It was a groupon deal with a glass of presecco.I was looking forward to dainty sandwiches and tasteful cakes. What arrived was thick chunky fingers of bread with three fillings, ham/cheese/cucumber, all very bland. The bread wasn't particularly fresh. Cakes looked more appetising but again a bit bland. The member of staff who served us was polite.

I visited with my parents on a groupon voucher I had bought them as a gift. It was the first time any of us had been to the wilbaham bar and kitchen so didn't know what to expect. There is disabled access at the rear and also a car park, which is very useful as Welsh row can get quite busy. It was lovely and warm inside and we had a nice welcome from the cheery bar man. Our drinks were with us within minutes of sitting down and the cream tea arrived shortly after. The cream tea was served on a wooden platter as there were three of us and there was certainly plenty to choose from. The sandwiches were all fresh and the cakes appeared to be home made. Everything was really nice and refills on the coffee and tea came without any issue. It was very good value and I would definitely return to try the main menu.Nice atmosphere and friendly helpful staff. Worth a visit!

Like other reviewers we were here on a voucher deal-and a present to boot so one shouldn't be churlish. Nice cuppa but the asked for refill never appeared. Sandwiches rather dry and too thick. Slab cheese, smoked salmon and a sliced meat mixture. Scones tiny and dry, chocolate cake synthetic and rather nasty: didn't finish. Having said that, they tried: it was a plentiful tea, nicely presented with pleasant service. Just needed a little more finesse.

If you're looking for a great venue with friendly staff this is the place for you ! Love that it's more popular with the over 21's and unlike Other pubs in Nantwich you can usually find somewhere to sit and are able to chat without shouting at each other! Thumbs up for the menu too

Spent a Friday night in The Wilbrahams with a group of girlfriends celebrating birthdays. Had a great night atmosphere of the pub very welcoming and the bar staff were very friendly and accommodating. Great place will definitely visit again. However they had live music on a duo playing acoustic guitar and singing!!!!!! Awful, it was too loud and they couldn't sing!!!!! Did it spoil the night ???? Not really but wouldn't go when live music on again. It's nice to be in a pub on a Friday night where you can chat without loud music The Wilbrahams is normally good for this, don't join the band wagon by having live music leave that to the other pubs.

We decided to call in having passed on several occasions. It was early Monday evening and the restaurant was empty but as the night progressed a few more people came in. We were greeted pleasantly and the room had a very nice shabby chic / contemporary feel to it. It was a bitter cold day and it was a shame that the log fires were not lit. When I asked if we could have a fire lit and sit near it this seemed to be a problem. The menu is quite varied with something for everyone but as we were only popping in for a quick meal my wife and I ordered steaks with fries etc. The wait time was acceptable and my steak was cooked just right. However my wife found that her steak was a bit too fatty for her liking and when this was mentioned to the waitress it was replaced without hesitation and very quickly - so much so that it was then a little too rare but she didn't want to have to send it back. I'm sure that it would have been given another minute or two in the pan if we had asked. The food was ok and good value for money. Cask ales were a bit thin on the ground with a choice of two but plenty of other draught and bottled beers were available. As stated, the main restaurant is very 'now' but I think that the sign of a top-end restaurant is the quality of the restrooms!! Somewhat unusual maybe but whilst the toilet areas were clean they are a bit basic and dated and could do with refurbishing to reflect the appearance trying to be created 'front-of-house'. Check out the Cock o' Barton near Chester for inspiration. All in all a quite pleasant experience and will definitely give it another shot.

Dropped in for a snack as I think it had recently reopened, we had a tempura board. This came with battered vegetables, the batter was not tempura, it would have been more at home on a piece of cod from the chippy up the road, chicken wings, which had been plucked from a seriously malnourished bird, coated in an over seasoned gloopy marinade, 2 prawn skewers also appeared the prawns tough and seemed only partially thawed, finally two bowls of salty dipping sauce I know the sauces are salty, but a gulp of beer followed every foray into the dish. We had a side of whitebait which was very dry with too much coating.I think the bill came to about 27 with one drink each, it felt too expensive for the quality of food served, the monkfish on the menu sounded good, except that I'm sure it was served with chips, which just doesn't seem right.Won't be rushing back maybe for a quick drink if I'm at that end of town. Must try harder I'm afraid.

Six of us booked for Saturday evening, first we were told there was no duck, monk fish or sweet potato chips, basically the best ingredients on the menu! The starter came which incl. tempora veg; which was not tempora batter. But thick batter! And what appeared to be leftover veg from lunch which incl. broccoli!! The waitress spilt the pot of soy sauce on us, the table was covered and my blouse splattered! It was an accident, however you would expect the waitress to clean it up, but no! We had to ask for a cloth & she brought over some extra napkins & made no attempt to clean it up. It got worse! The chicken skewers came which you could hardly see the tiny pieces of chicken amongst the pieces of raw carrots!!!! All 4 chicken skewers ordered were cold incl the chips. They were supposed to be served with pitta bread but came with a cheap tortillas! I had the plaice and the sauce was most unpleasant. We complained about the cold food and a small discount was given off the total bill, along with free drinks, but all in all an unpleasant experience & we left hungry.

I visited here with my work colleagues before my visit I emailed 3 times to ask about gluten free options to which I received no reply! After numerous attempts at calling I finally got an answer however the person I spoke to appeared to have very little knowledge of what gluten free was... I don't expect anyone to be an expert however when you are in the food industry it surely is ideal to have some understanding of food allergies. Most restaurants I visit are more than helpful and some have even cooked me something off the menu! Anyway my choice ended in a Chicken Caesar Salad, without dressing, no cheese shavings and more rocket leaves than Asda stock! It was very bland, very dry and I could have made better at home myself. The service was slow considering we had all pre-ordered and there was only the ten of us in the entire restaurant. I would recommend that in this day and age that they really need to gain knowledge of modern food requirements as there is a lot of very strong competition out there that are far more clued up. I would visit for drinks however as an option to eat out this place isn't for me.

Very welcoming bar area and friendly staff. Just went in for a quick pint hoping for some decent ales and was disappointed. Only one hand pump and choice limited to the standard Heineken/Amstel/Guinness pumps. A pity as its a nice pub and the food looked pretty good from what we saw. Won't be returning until they are allowed to stock more 'craft' ales either on draft or bottles.

We said we would return, we did & we weren't disappointed. Great ambience to the bar area, welcoming & friendly staff. Solid food offer with good range of drinks. Hanging Kebabs on skewers superb, steaks very good. Try the "Jack Rabbit" sparkling white a very good fizz. Slightly noisy atmosphere was my only criticism, but it's the same in other venues in the same style.

I rejected my food which was a simple order of ham, egg and chips. It arrived as almost uncooked gammon, hard fried eggs and greasy pub chips. We visited with a table of ten friends at approx 12.45pm on a Saturday. We were the only people in there. Having complained about the lack of quality in my meal and the fact it was undercooked, the staff swiftly removed my meal. I was not asked if I wanted a replacement or an alternative. 15 minutes later, I was served again with a replacement that was as bad as the first. I subsequently spent the rest of the meal without anything and chose to get a chip butty from the chip shop on the same street. Will NOT be returning. Of course, I was not billed for the meal but no compensation was offered to reflect my disappointing experience at this venue that has recently reopened under new management

We used to live in Weaverham and often walked to the Riverside for a drink or food. They used to do 2 main courses for £10 which was good values for money. I know those days are now gone but after our recent visit I don’t think we will be returning. We booked a table for Sunday lunch for 4 people. We ordered drinks which came promptly and then ordered our food. We only ordered 4 mains, fish and chips, sea bass and 2 x steak and ale pies. We waited over an hour for our food, others who arrived after us received their food so we asked how long ours was going to take and were told they were just plating up. 10 minutes later we finally received our food. The fish and chips did look lovely and was a healthy portion size, the pies were well filled but mash potato was a bit on the small side. The main issue was the sea bass. There were 2 small fillets with a few crushed potatoes underneath, a spoonful of frozen peas, 2 green beans and 5 mange tout. Now for £17.95 I expected more. I’m not a big eater or a quick eater but I finished my meal first, and I knew I wouldn’t be full for long. How much do vegetables cost? Surely some carrots and tender stem broccoli wouldn’t break the budget? I did mention this and I was not charged for my alcohol free G&T, but I couldn’t wait to get home and have something to eat, disappointing.

We held a joint 60/80 party here and it was absolutely fantastic. The staff are brilliant and extremely helpful from all correspondence to the night. We had about 30 ppl for a small do and they were brilliant letting us come earlier even though half of our party did end up staying to the late! The food was exceptional the steak ale pie was devine and had our guests talking about it for weeks after! Compliments to the chef! Lovely party area, when decorated with balloons and banners it was a really good atmosphere, the bar were happy to play music on Spotify all night. Really spacious and just a really lovely evening. Great hospitality. Deffo worth considering for a function.
