This is a lovely spot for a lunch break as you’re passing. We’ve stopped here multiple times and the food has always been lovely, the staff friendly and the prices reasonable. Lucy and Vicki were fab in particular today and we won’t hesitate to stop by again.

Great food and lots of tasty vegetarian options, very friendly staff, we’ll definitely be back. Thanks for a great meal.

A big Thankyou to Angus for making my pre-wedding dinner a night to remember! We were allocated a room as we were a large group which was great, the pre-order all went smoothly and overall the food was great. The staff were lovely, in particular Angus. We will be returning.

My wife and I hadn’t booked but called in for tea on the chance a table was free. Angus and his team looked after us perfectly. Even going out of their way to research my wife’s food requirements after she has had to change her diet recently for health reasons. Food was great and prompt , drinks good too, a different pink gin my wife hasn’t had before. All in all we will definitely return to this very friendly pub soon! Keep up the good work Angus.

We had a special occasion so thought we would celebrate by having a meal together at The Butley Ash. We booked for 2pm The table that we were given was total unsuitable, because couldn't get our legs underneath. No problem, we changed to a round one in the window. But from there it went down hill. Took over an hour to bring out five main courses. No explanation or apology. Immediately I could see that my fish was over cooked, rock hard and cold. I didn't say anything because we had waited so long and I didn't want to delay the other people in my group from starting their food. But it turned out after talking to each other that all five meal were awful, over cooked and some burnt. The food arrived cold. Really disappointed as we were excited to share a delicious meal together. I am writing this review as a feedback. Something is very wrong in the kitchen department if five different meals are all awful. And nobody asked if everything was OK. In fact the bill was almost thrown at us and not made clear where to pay it. BIG DISSAPOINTMENT and will not be going back or recommending.

Met with family to remember a loved one. Waited an hour for five different meals. All were poor and we received no apology for the delay and nobody asked us if the food was okay. Because if the occasion we did not feel like raising our complaint which in retrospect we should have done at the time. We came here on a thursday evening and served by Angus. He was really attentive, accomodating and served us with a smile, nothing was too much hassle. Food and drinks were served really quickly, despite there being two people working. I had the sausage and mash and it was so tasty especially the mash.Really impressed and good value, will definitely be returning.

Disappointed Having visited several times over the last 18 months, today’s visit with friends was very disappointing. Staff were lovely and accommodating but uniform varied. Several dishes were not available. Our food took an hour to arrive by which time we were ravenous and ate it despite it not being up to standard. My toastie was burnt on one side and our guest had leeks with her pork dish which she just couldn’t cut. In addition, the place was dirty, floors had not been vacuumed for ages, mirror was smeared, chairs were badly stained and there were old napkins on the floor. We were one of the first parties in do no excuse there. We observed fresh cutlery being put on one of these filthy chairs whilst the table was cleaned-not even in a cutlery tray Our guests used the bathroom facilities and said they were dirty with overflowing bins. No time to order dessert as we had somewhere else to be so paid and left. Sadly not the service or standard we have become used to at Butley Ash

Hardly anything on the menu loads of meals off so very limited choice despite an extensive offering apparently and no specials

Having waited 40 minutes for our meal, informed they were short staffed but we were happy to wait. Received 2 carvery meals which were the worst we had ever had except for the sausage. Yorkshire Puddings disintegrated when bitten into, brocoli too hard, more raw than not. Pork could be used for new soles on my shoes, overcooked to say the least. Over priced badly cooked food. Will not be returning.

Stayed at Butkey Ash whilst attending a wedding in the area. The rooms were lovely and the service was excellent. We had lunch in the restaurant prior to the wedding and breakfast the morning after and both had a good variety on offer. The food was great and again the staff were excellent. Would happily recommend and will likely stay again as we have friends in the area.

Visited with daughter great food and service

Popped in with pals for dinner & a few beers whilst staying with friends nearby in Prestbury. We don’t have a reservation but they squeezed us in. Food was tasty, beer was well kept and the team working that evening were all super friendly. They even made a few local suggestions for bits & bobs to do whilst we were staying nearby. Will be back next time we’re in Prestbury.

Very poor Sunday roast. The potatoes were so hard you couldn’t cut them, the cauliflower cheese dry and it felt like everything had been cooked but was just reheated… it wasn’t great at all. The restaurant was very quiet, so not great atmosphere really. Staff were friendly enough but I won’t be returning.

Had a lovely Father’s Day lunch here! Food was really tasty, staff were lovely and the pub itself is gorgeous! Eleanor and Grace did such a great job 😊 Would definitely recommend

Really enjoyed. My visit for dinner at the Butley Ash. The ambience of the pub was very good. The staff who served us were lovely (Izzy and Eleanor) So helpful and attentive. I have some dietary issues at the moment and the vegetarian dish I had was excellent. Full marks to the chef as he made, what can be a very boring meal, light up, so big thanks again. Will be coming back here. 👍🏻

Really nice visit, passed many times & glad we gave the Ash a try! Had seabass & garden veg medley, both great! Apparently it’s a new menu, & new chef. Very good, will be back. Good luck to Charlie & the team.

Food awful, service terrible. Went here for a 30th birthday meal and it was a disaster from start to finish. Agency chefs on duty and it showed. Won't be going again... avoid.

have been to the Butley Ash for a number of years and the food has always been good however we attended one night in March just for dinner the seating was good the drinks came was good we ordered cod and chips and scampi and chips with peas well what turned up was very very well done scampi and bullet riddled peas with not bad chips the cod could not have been more well done my friend said the fish was ok on the inside but outside it could have been is a fire so well done. the first meal there was not good the bill was not bad but i did say that it wasnt great nothing was offered so i simply said we wont be back if you like your fish done to burning point haveit

Such a lovely place! We visited at lunch time so it was relatively quiet but still had a nice atmosphere and felt lovely and cosy. Food & drinks were great and the staff were awesome, I think it was Charlie that did everything for us and he was super friendly & helpful. Also the pub is dog friendly which is a bonus as our little lad got to sit with us and enjoy the experience too 🐾

It was a quiet evening when we visited but the staff, one of whom was new, were engaging and attentive. The food was very nice and reasonably priced, especially if you ordered from the Supper Club menu, but make sure you get charged for food from that.

It was busy on Friday at lunchtime but the service was very good and food was great. Will definitely be visiting again soon.

Unfortunately the lasagne arrived and was burnt. The steak was ok but too few chips and a poor amount of greenery. The service was lacking. We were there nearly 3 hours and only had a main cause then coffee. The bill had been discounted by £30 due to the problems so that was commendable as we didn’t actually ask,but feedback was a definite!

We always enjoy the friendly atmosphere and great service from the staff at the Butley Ash. We come here rather than the Blacksmith’s Arms which is much nearer to where we live for this reason. The food is consistently good.

The food and initial service are always great but staff disappear when you want to pay the bill and take ages to bring the card machine over. It's my only bugbear! Highly recommend the gammon and the sticky toffee pudding

Lovely food at reasonable prices. Atmosphere and service were great also.

Visited during the week, so it was quite. My husband and I ordered steak and chips. We waited about 40 minutes or more before the food arrived which I felt was a long time considering it was quite. Steak was awful and the chips were heavily fried and crispy. We both did not enjoy it and would not visit again. It’s a shame as it is a nice pub.

Doesn’t seem like somewhere that you could get to on foot but it’s still a very nice, and fairly unique building — the food can be inconsistent however

Had an Xmas lunch here. Varied menu but waiter mentioned what wasn't available and a few items were included . Luckily our choices of food were available. Tasty and well presented.

I only parked in the car park waiting for my daughter to come out as her company had a little do there, she said it was good.

Visited this based on good reviews. Hadn’t had family pub lunch for ages so really wanted to enjoy it. I just…..didn’t, really. The two main issues were the service speed and the food quality. Don’t get me wrong, it’s not fast food, I hate to feel everything has been warmed up in 2 minutes. But the speed was just slow all round. There were at least five girls on shift, and all visited us, yet none seemed to really take charge of our table. Several times, to get service, I had to go and find one of them. They were always just pottering about. Nice girls btw, inoffensive and helpful, for sure. But not proactive at all and not remotely interested in our experience. Each course took an eternity to come, and it was not busy. Upon eventual arrival, my worst fears were confirmed when small portions of minimal quality food were served. The lasagne was burned on top and had no flavour. Kids meals were varied but the chicken strips were the worst. My child said, why are there only 5 small ‘strips’? He also said upon eating, where is the chicken? This was an astute observation, I assure you. Michelin star restaurants serve small portions of delicious food arranged beautifully on a plate. This experience seemed neither one thing nor the other. Not enough food for average British family, not tasty enough for the small amount provided. This is not a poor review for its own sake. My only agenda upon visiting was to enjoy my family. The long waits, lack of welcoming experience and food to grumble about spoiled that a little too much for me.

We came for Breakfast with santa on the 16th , The staff are all very warm and friendly the pub was very clean and warm. The food on the other hand was very disappointing !! The kids food a small breakfast, had less than a table spoon of beans the bacon was cardboard and a very small Portion of scrambled eggs . The toast that came was rock hard and cold again a table spoon of beans the mushroom i say mushroom as there was not even a full one sliced on the plate bacon again like cardboard .All in all it was very very disappointing food staff 5star Chef 2 star at best .

Great place. Felt really festive as well with the decorations. Staff were so great and helpful, and the food was well tasty. I can honestly say the steak was the nicest I had in a long time, even better than the one I reviewed only a few weeks ago 😊👍. I will be back for more. The desert was amazing.

What a wonderful afternoon, easily booked prior to the get together, pre selected off the Christmas menu. The food was delicious, a varied selection was chosen and eaten really everyone enjoyed their meal I had the Christmas turkey meal it was so tender, followed by the Christmas pudding yum xx What can I say Charlie, Francesca and Izzy were superb so attentive, pleasant and helpful thank you

So disappointed with Sunday lunch here. A lukewarm meal and a lukewarm reception. One of our party ordered the steak pie but was delivered the chicken and ham pie. By the time they had corrected THEIR mistake and delivered the correct meal, we had all almost finished ours. Not sure how this pub is making money as the number of people they turn away is ridiculous. There were so many empty tables that remained empty during our 2 hour visit that could have accommodated people for meals. On a totally separate occasion I asked if they could cater for a party of 14 in January (plenty of notice) for a post Christmas do and they refused the booking.

Service was great Emily was a help with the wines and rums great food and nice vibes. Chips were abit too well done but wouldn’t put me off going again atall. !

Great pub -- attractive decor, great people working there (our waitress Emma was superb), very swift service. For the three of us who were there, our main meals were good although mostly only averagely so (the chips were so-so, for example) -- with the notable exception of both the burger and the sticky toffee pudding which were excellent. The pub also had a much greater range of non-alcoholic drinks than most others. Will definitely be back.

Recently we had lunch for the first time in the Butley Ash Pub, Prestbury. We had the Sunday lunch and I must say it was really very good quality and plenty of it. However as well as the food the one thing that stood out...

Overpriced for what you get. The staff were great, but I can't complain about that and the place was nice but it needed a clean and the lights need doing as well.

Went for Sunday dinner... for the price, I would've like the food to be cooked a little longer.. the roast potatoes were more crispy boiled than roasted and the carrots were hard. Stunning venue, fantastic service, just needs 10 more mins cooking... (I did get a drink in a glass that had lipstick on too)

The Sunday roasts were average at best. They were barely warm but the sparse vegetables were hard. The waitress asked if everything was ok when taking the plates and we said not really they weren't hot and there was no response whatsoever.

Super meal, restaurant was very quiet which is a shame for the staff as its a lovely little place, food was great service excellent couldn't really fault it. Will be visiting again soon, the garlic bread bloomer from specials menu for a starter was superb

Visited here for the first time since before covid. Last time wasn’t a great experience but this time was excellent! Food was great and good value for money. I have a couple of allergies so the staff checked with Chef before I ordered. Francesca, Issy and Charlie were excellent - attentive but not overly so, and observant, I was offered another drink when my first was running low. We had such a great meal and visit, we have booked again for next weekend and are taking family with us
