We had a lovely lunch here today and were well looked after by Grace sand Lizzie. Would definitely recommend very pleasant Pub in a nice area

We came for some tea with our little girl and the staff were amazing. The food and service was amazing and it was an overall lovely experience. Special mention to Charlie for his service and being welcoming and making sure we were ok whilst there. Thank you!

We went for dinner here, we didn’t book and staff were very accommodating. The menu had a wide range of meal selections and a lovely choice of wines and lagers. The food was lovely! The staff, Charlie and Ollie, were so friendly and helpful throughout the evening. Will definitely return!

We popped in this weekend for a Sunday Dinner , we took the risk and didn't book. The gentleman found us a table for us to sit at. A great choice of food and a fantastic selection of lagers and wines. The food was lovely and the service was fantastic. We have booked in for mothers day , can't wait to be back.

Unfortunately....no Brandy, very disappointed...... No cream, yes unbelievable, but true. So puddings were disappointing, highlight of my meal is always bakewell tart with a good portion of cream. So not to worry.....I'll have a salted caramel feast. Oh yes says the waitress it's a lovely alternative.....on her return to our table. Sorry she says we have run out of salted caramel.... I have always promoted your establishment, I found it warm and welcoming, with excellent menu and delicious food. This time, to say I was disappointed is an understatement. On arrival, 3 of our group are Brandy drinkers. We were told that you had run out of Brandy. Very dispointed,you are after all a restaurant . We go to our table. The table is sticky and unclean. The waitress was very apologetic but again... Disappointed. My husband had a mixed grill, it was dry,steak not eaten, very tough... why?. On our many visits previously it has been delicious??. Next... sweets, the highlight if my meal. I ordered bakewell tart and cream.. to be informed I could have the bakewell but unfortunately you have run out if cream, really at a restaurant. So I decided to have a salted caramel dish, on the waitresses recommendation.. To be informed after a lenghthy wait...sorry we have run out of salted caramel. My usual drink at the end if the night is, coffee and cream. I obviously didn't bother, due to... no.cream What is going on?? what's happened to my lovely restaurant.?? We had a family members baby shower here , everything was perfect and was made to feel very welcome by staff especially Charlie who couldn’t do enough to make the day as perfect as it could be , would highly recommend anyone to visit , lovely cosy atmosphere with a personal touch

Visited over the Christmas period while on our way to a show in Stockport with friends. Food and service was fantastic and the staff were friendly and helpful. Prices were probably slightly less than most establishments of this quality which was surprising for the Cheshire area. Will definitely be calling again when in the area.

My partner and I decided to have Christmas dinner at the here on a whim. To summarise our Christmas at the Butley Ash: Great food, horrendous service. I could not fault the starter, main and dessert at all. It was all lovely. However, from start to finish, the service was a complete disaster. When the main came, the waitress was clearly in a hurry and put the jug of gravy aggressively on our table and it went all over. The gravy also went all over my legs. Luckily, I had long boots on, otherwise it probably would have burnt me. The waitress said it was her fault. Accidents happen, it’s not a problem, however, it’s how you try to resolve the problem! No effort was made to clear our table or replace our table cloth. Our table was left in a right state for the rest of the evening. I also asked for some cranberry sauce with my turkey, and they gave me the world’s smallest pot of sauce! Secondly, we were left with cutlery, cups, and plates from the starter and main which took ages to be cleared up. The waitresses walked past us multiple times and failed to ‘notice’. I don’t understand why it took them so long to clear our table. The pub wasn’t exactly THAT busy when we were there! Our dessert took over 45 minutes to arrive, and the family next to us also waited a ridiculously long time, for both their main and dessert! And we noticed when their dessert did finally arrive, it was wrong. The waitress once again slammed my dessert down in a hurry which I thought was going to fall off at first! And finally, when we asked for the bill, one of the other waitresses gave us the bill and said she’d back with the card machine in two seconds (two seconds was 20 minutes).. we were confused, because she disappeared for a while and then we could see her at the bar afterwards making multiple drinks. It would have been easier to just serve us first, we would have left ages ago! Although the food was great, I don’t think the £75 per head was justified after having experienced that.

We had a wonderful breakfast at The Butley Ash. It’s a lovely, cosy pub with a really welcoming feel (and lots of parking). We both had the veggie breakfast which was excellent and came with great service from Charlie and Russ! Will definitely visit again 😊!!

I came in without a booking and the lovely Charlie gave us a nice table out the way which was exactly what I was looking for. I was very satisfied with everything. service 10/10 Atmosphere 10/10 Food 10/10 Will defiantly be recommending to family and friends.

Myself and a group of friends decided to meet up for some food before Christmas. We all decided to have the festive menu, the beef cheeks were to die for. The cod loin was cooked perfectly. Hats off to the chef. Lovely poured Guinness and the festive rocking Rudolph was also lovely. We were served by Grace and Charlie who were very pleasant and did more than they could to make sure we had a great visit. We will be 100% back again

Good food and drink and excellent service

We went for Christmas Day dinner 2024 When receiving the prawn cocktail for starters it only had one prawn on each which was little disappointing ,when the mains arrived the vegetables were abit Bland and the roasts were black and soaked in oil , We ordered extra pigs in blankets and cauliflower cheese but it didn't arrive. The desserts were OK, the service was good and the seating was calm and relaxing but just felt the food could of been abit better with it being Christmas day .

This is our pleasant reliable go-to place for an enjoyable pub meal, including a festive meal on Christmas Eve. However, very disappointingly, when we came on Christmas Eve this time, the festive meal that we had booked a table in expectation of was not available and it was just the standard menu. Also the selection of available darker beers was very limited, while there were plenty of lighter ones, which might be okay in the summer. That all said, the steak and ale pie and mushroom starter were good in themselves, but not what we came for.

Pre ordered but everything came out at different times 28 of us originally 24 sat together and 4 in a seperate part so we had to move rhings around The turkey had clearly been cooked , frozen then defrosted was really watery Not worth the £25 for 2 courses

Excellent service and good food

The Butley Ash is a great restaurant, with good quality food served. Although on this visit they had run out of the food we wanted, it probably tasted so good so was popular choice. It was a little quieter than when I normally visit though the weather was wintery. But we were not alone there were a few fellow diners. Definitely a place worth a visit and will return to enjoy the dish we missed out on this time 😊

Had a lovely relaxing lunch yesterday on the way home from Christmas shopping in Wilmslow - it's one of our favourite gastropubs in this area. The food was great (looked like a revised menu since our last visit), the service (Ollie and Charlie) prompt and friendly and we particularly liked the absence of musak! We could sit and chat with our daughter over a civilised pub lunch! Lovely!

Have been a few times and always loved the decor and atmosphere. Came today with my partner and mum just for drinks, as soon as we arrived we were met by Charlie a very professional warm guy. He talked us into having food with our drinks and boy are we glad . It was delicious and well cooked thankyou kitchen. We also met Ollie again a very warm hearted guy who we instantly took to . He stopped and talked to us and our dog My opinion on these two guys couldn't be higher. We had more drinks after eating and purchased gift vouchers for family as Christmas presents. Only came in for drinks but with the right people steering the ship we got a lot more well done Butley ash! Well done Ollie and Charlie! Thanks for the experience. Paul and Bev.

Very understaffed today and food far below usual standard. Manager was very sympathetic and put things right

Went at midweek lunchtime, first visit since many years back when it was a favourite of ours.... it was quiet, it was clean and smart. Varied menu of typical pub grub, some wholesome hearty food and lighter options. I had pie and chips which was heavy duty eating. (I should be more measured in my choice as I don't have the capacity I once had). It was OK, a little to much crust, the steak and ale was OK. My partner had a burger toasted bap thing which looked better than my choice with salad... both meals were enjoyed and filling. We had four drinks 300mils of beer each. We paid £60+ which I think was too much, the beers were over £6 each. Its a pub not a restaurant and it does the pub bit well. Staff were super, parking good but please why so costly? I'd go again but I'd like better value for my hard earned pound.

Group of 4,mains were decent.puddings abit overpriced for the portion size. Decent staff friendly. Very very quite for 730pm friday night.

We came here in need of revitalisation after a walk, and it was served with a smile by Lucy! We both sampled the Camembert which was tasty and accompanied with some fantastic sides. And then onto the burgers, one beef, one venison which you don’t often see on pub menus!

This is a lovely spot for a lunch break as you’re passing. We’ve stopped here multiple times and the food has always been lovely, the staff friendly and the prices reasonable. Lucy and Vicki were fab in particular today and we won’t hesitate to stop by again.

My wife and I hadn’t booked but called in for tea on the chance a table was free. Angus and his team looked after us perfectly. Even going out of their way to research my wife’s food requirements after she has had to change her diet recently for health reasons. Food was great and prompt , drinks good too, a different pink gin my wife hasn’t had before. All in all we will definitely return to this very friendly pub soon! Keep up the good work Angus.

Met with family to remember a loved one. Waited an hour for five different meals. All were poor and we received no apology for the delay and nobody asked us if the food was okay. Because if the occasion we did not feel like raising our complaint which in retrospect we should have done at the time. An indication of something being wrong with the place was the ashtrays outside overflowing with cigarette ends and water A completely disappointing experience. Charles

Disappointed Having visited several times over the last 18 months, today’s visit with friends was very disappointing. Staff were lovely and accommodating but uniform varied. Several dishes were not available. Our food took an hour to arrive by which time we were ravenous and ate it despite it not being up to standard. My toastie was burnt on one side and our guest had leeks with her pork dish which she just couldn’t cut. In addition, the place was dirty, floors had not been vacuumed for ages, mirror was smeared, chairs were badly stained and there were old napkins on the floor. We were one of the first parties in do no excuse there. We observed fresh cutlery being put on one of these filthy chairs whilst the table was cleaned-not even in a cutlery tray Our guests used the bathroom facilities and said they were dirty with overflowing bins. No time to order dessert as we had somewhere else to be so paid and left. Sadly not the service or standard we have become used to at Butley Ash

We came here on a thursday evening and served by Angus. He was really attentive, accomodating and served us with a smile, nothing was too much hassle. Food and drinks were served really quickly, despite there being two people working. I had the sausage and mash and it was so tasty especially the mash.Really impressed and good value, will definitely be returning.

Hardly anything on the menu loads of meals off so very limited choice despite an extensive offering apparently and no specials

Having waited 40 minutes for our meal, informed they were short staffed but we were happy to wait. Received 2 carvery meals which were the worst we had ever had except for the sausage. Yorkshire Puddings disintegrated when bitten into, brocoli too hard, more raw than not. Pork could be used for new soles on my shoes, overcooked to say the least. Over priced badly cooked food. Will not be returning.

Stayed at Butkey Ash whilst attending a wedding in the area. The rooms were lovely and the service was excellent. We had lunch in the restaurant prior to the wedding and breakfast the morning after and both had a good variety on offer. The food was great and again the staff were excellent. Would happily recommend and will likely stay again as we have friends in the area.

Visited with daughter great food and service

Popped in with pals for dinner & a few beers whilst staying with friends nearby in Prestbury. We don’t have a reservation but they squeezed us in. Food was tasty, beer was well kept and the team working that evening were all super friendly. They even made a few local suggestions for bits & bobs to do whilst we were staying nearby. Will be back next time we’re in Prestbury.

Very poor Sunday roast. The potatoes were so hard you couldn’t cut them, the cauliflower cheese dry and it felt like everything had been cooked but was just reheated… it wasn’t great at all. The restaurant was very quiet, so not great atmosphere really. Staff were friendly enough but I won’t be returning.

I have some dietary issues at the moment and the vegetarian dish I had was excellent. Full marks to the chef as he made, what can be a very boring meal, light up, so big thanks again. Really nice visit, passed many times & glad we gave the Ash a try! Had seabass & garden veg medley, both great! Apparently it’s a new menu, & new chef. Very good, will be back. Good luck to Charlie & the team.

Food awful, service terrible. Went here for a 30th birthday meal and it was a disaster from start to finish. Agency chefs on duty and it showed. Won't be going again... avoid.

Worst meal we have ever had service was dreadful food atrocious will not be visiting again

have been to the Butley Ash for a number of years and the food has always been good however we attended one night in March just for dinner the seating was good the drinks came was good we ordered cod and chips and scampi and chips with peas well what turned up was very very well done scampi and bullet riddled peas with not bad chips the cod could not have been more well done my friend said the fish was ok on the inside but outside it could have been is a fire so well done. the first meal there was not good the bill was not bad but i did say that it wasnt great nothing was offered so i simply said we wont be back if you like your fish done to burning point haveit

Such a lovely place! We visited at lunch time so it was relatively quiet but still had a nice atmosphere and felt lovely and cosy. Food & drinks were great and the staff were awesome, I think it was Charlie that did everything for us and he was super friendly & helpful. Also the pub is dog friendly which is a bonus as our little lad got to sit with us and enjoy the experience too 🐾

It was busy on Friday at lunchtime but the service was very good and food was great. Will definitely be visiting again soon.

It was a quiet evening when we visited but the staff, one of whom was new, were engaging and attentive. The food was very nice and reasonably priced, especially if you ordered from the Supper Club menu, but make sure you get charged for food from that.

Unfortunately the lasagne arrived and was burnt. The steak was ok but too few chips and a poor amount of greenery. The service was lacking. We were there nearly 3 hours and only had a main cause then coffee. The bill had been discounted by £30 due to the problems so that was commendable as we didn’t actually ask,but feedback was a definite!
