Food ok , bacon etc was a bit dry

Nice food / cakes but served after a long wait by (in our case) a young miserable member of staff. More expensive than the big chains. Massive mark ups for eating in despite having to clear our own table. Shame as it’s a local business but won’t be back.

Terrible service, having been in the queue and placing an order another staff member, serving a customer further back in the queue comes and takes the items I've ordered. After flagging I'd already ordered the last items I got told I could have something else by the employee taking the items. After noting I thought this was wrong the staff members called over the manager. No surprise the manager was the employee that had taken the items I'd ordered and disgracefully told me to order something else. No shock that she shrugged it off with an oh well attitude. This is what happens when you apply Peters Principle to service, think someone needs some proper training is customer service!

Went for the cheese & onion pasty. The pastry was extremely flaky & messy but nice however the filling was not the best, extremely small portion & didn't taste the best.

Terrible Tables dirty. Food was expensive and little of it

I purchased a tuna mayo salad box today, something I have purchased many times before. I am extremely disappointed with the quantity of salad items included, both last week and today in comparison to previously. It included a derisory 2 slices of cucumber and 4 small cubes of beetroot! I should note though, there is always a good helping of tuna. It isn't cheap at £5.20. Have staff been told to cut down or does it reflect an individual's view of portion size? Sorry but won't be visiting again, plenty more places in Alsager for eat in and take away Feeling very disappointed Debbie

Nice little bakery/coffee shop, always very friendly and nice food

Staff turnover means there is an influx of new starters so service seems slower somedays depending on who you get.

We ordered full English breakfast, the place was empty apart from one other table. We were told, after we had paid, that the sausages would be a 15 mins wait. 35 minutes later the breakfasts arrived. The beans were stone cold which I told the staff about and they just shrugged. The eggs were snotty. The 15 minute sausages were 20 minutes late. The bacon was fab, mushrooms acceptable. We had to ask twice for condiments. Nobody checked on the table to see if we were happy because deep down they knew it was poor and didn’t want the confrontation of us complaining. It wasn’t due to staff shortages, there were 4 staff on the front serving, 2 on the hot takeaway and 2 on the sit in cafe side and at least 2 in the back because we could hear them laughing. Overall we won’t be returning. Very disappointed for the price.

Great hot sandwiches. Well worth a visit

We attended for breakfast at 10.00. 3 customers dining in. Breakfast arrived 30 mins later but was lukewarm at best with some items stone cold. We were offered a refund but asked for a hot breakfast. We were then kept waiting. No apology given and poor customer service. We were in a rush so will be going elsewhere in future.

Visited today,lovely environment the only issue is the queuing which makes the waiting time longer,1 que for everything so even though I only wanted cakes I had to wait in the que for hot food,read a few comments about this,and especially when there are staff not busy or serving would of given 5⭐but this does seem like a little bit of a annoying Issue with people,other than this the cakes are amazing 👏

Never go wrong in choosing chatwins

The food here is of a decent standard but the prices are ridiculous. A medium sized breakfast bap of bacon and sausage is £4.70 or £6 with egg and mushrooms. Please note these are the take away prices you have to pay substantially more should you choose to eat in.

We had take away today. Very nice. Slightly expensive, but well worth the money.

Visited several times and surprised at the low rating on here. I do enjoy coffee and something freshly baked so this place has fit the bill on several occasions of late. Popped in yesterday, early morning. Friendly service, good coffee and we shared a vegetable slice or pasty. Sat outside and everything was delivered with a smile. Always seems busy here and hopefully they will continue to thrive in these difficult times.

Arrived at 2pm today and there was 3 people ahead of myself in the take out queue with 3 staff working. It took 25 minutes to get 2 sausage rolls and a danish to takeaway. The food was still very good but need to sort out the service.

Excellent prime steak pies. Granddaughter lives them.

Today 23/02/2023, I had my car in at the local garage so popped into Chatwins for coffee and a sandwich, I like their coffees so no complaints, however there breakfast sandwiches are a different story, I had the Bacon and sausage, wife had bacon and egg, first off your charged on every item you buy too eat in? However the other shops across the the road (by the way are as good if not better) don't charge you extra for having something to stay in, FOOD, this is where Chatwins falls down,plenty of bacon,that's the good points ...sausage was stone cold and tough, eggs should always be hot and NEVER solid unless the customer asks for it that way,soft to runny they should be,now you could argue I'm being hard, but right across the road is their competitor,and they have none of these down falls, price for 1 coffee and two sandwiches from Chatwins was £14.65.....My opinion well over priced for the quality of items,As I travel the uk weekly I'd rate this place 3/10 because I certainly wouldn't buy another sandwich from this store,overpriced and cold sandwich that's over cooked is a big disappointment....

They never seem be prepared for lunch, once again ( for the third time) there was insufficient warm food. I tend to go on the odd Saturday lunch for sausage rolls and cheese and onion pasties, and each time they have run out. At 11.55 am its a bit early to blame the lunch run being busy. Just once it would be nice to go there and be able to buy what I went for.

I visit here 4 times weekly with my friend who is in a wheelchair, the staff know she has special needs cup with lid and straw, they are friendly, helpful and great with my friend. We have tried other places but always come back here. Would like to see toasted sandwiches come back on the menu though.

Warm and quiet, but the coffee is average at best. It's a good job they are an excellent baker

Love the breakfast baps here. Pricey but delicious. Definitely worth a monthly pay day treat.

Avoid if busy. Went today and waited in a queue of people for nearly 10 mins while a girl working broke the World record for the slowest carving of white meat. No other staff assisted so walked out. Also I'm sure staff serving should be wearing gloves while handling food especially during a pandemic.

Nice cakes, service varies between indifferent to poor. If they are busy there is no effort to hurry things up or even acknowledge waiting customers. They only have two points of sale which are used by staff one at a time and leads to them queuing up to use it whilst customers wait even longer. Only one of those points of sale is used for takeout customers no matter how busy it is. God forbid you accidentally end up queuing in front of the cream cake counter and ask for a take out, as you will be brusquely sent to the back of the take out queue in a manner reminiscent of a sitcom.

Disorganised no clear signage to where you queue then wait 10 minutes to be told oh wrong queue

Having visited Chatwins today I was very disappointed. I ordered a cheese and onion toasty to be given a toasty with virtually no cheese and what was there had melted into the bread like butter making it very dry and difficult to eat, certainly not worth £6. I think they are using grated cheese and not enough. I will not be ordering a toasty again, unless they use a slice of cheese.

Fantastic bakery / cafe. Since moving to the area I exclusively pickup my bread and other baked products from here. Stop in at any time of the working day and you won't be disappointed.

The steak pies from here often appear in my dreams due to the heavenly tastes

Lovely, first visit, called in for a loaf of bread, came away with a few other goodies.

You only have to ask a local to know how respected this place is. Excellent selection of extremely tasty bakery goods. Sausage rolls, doorstep toast and Yorkshire pudding wraps to name a few. Expensive but worth it.

Today I purchased a Tuna Salad box to take away. At a cost of £4.95 I expected better! Included in my box lettuce, 3 slices of tomato, 4 slices of cucumber, very little pepper bits and a few onions. 1 scoop of Tuna and I paid for a small scoop of homemade coldslaw. Very poor in terms of quantity- good quality but the price does not fit the amount.

Terrible Paid then waited for 24 minutes to get a coffee and a sausage bap . We were about to leave then it arrived. Too busy serving everyone else walking in istread of customers that already had paid and sat down ... we were not the only ones . Plus like everyone else putting prices up we use to go alot but will definitely give it a miss now till it improves.

Lovely cappuccino, great service & enough space to be comfortable. Obviously very popular as the customers were flowing in & out for cafe & take out bakes/sandwiches etc

Lovely food, they make your food order to your specifications so you can mix and match to get the perfect food. They have indoor and outdoor seating or the option to take away.

Absolutely disgusted and so embarrassed Literally asked to leave as we had sat down after unknowingly ordered takeout. We weren’t even asked whether we were eating in or taking away. Another customer even said as we were leaving that they felt embarrassed for us. Unbelievable is the only word.

So embarrassing and disgraceful. My wife and I were asked to leave the cafe today. We ordered food and a drink and sat down. Within minutes we were told to leave as we hadn't payed to sit in. We weren't even asked if we wanted to sit in or take out. We now understand there was a difference but felt so embarrassed in front of a busy cafe. The employee was SO rude. As we left another customer followed us out and expressed their embarrassment for us. Unbelievable customer service. Was it really that difficult to ask us 'eat in or takeaway'?

Still advertising breakfast box on the tv screen which they no longer do, That’s not a problem in it’s self but not a nice attitude reply

Overpriced but nice food and coffee

Attempted to have lunch here but when we entered we weren't greeted by anyone so found a table and sat down. We were then sent outside by a snooty jobsworth member of staff because of Covid protocol, only to be called in again about 30 seconds later, whereupon no details at all were taken from us. So what the heck was that all about? We were wearing masks & had also hand-sanitised when we walked in the first time. Things only got worse.......we were there for 1245, so quite early for a lunchtime, but there was hardly anything on offer - no turkey, no beef, no soup despite all of them still being advertised. I ended up with a simple cheese & onion bap - no salad, no dressing, nada. And that cost almost £5, which was absolutely extortionate. Never again will we go there - overpriced, over-rated & rude staff. Do yourselves a favour, people, and go somewhere else where your business will be appreciated by welcoming staff & where you won't be ripped off.

Tables cutlery and floor could have been cleaner at 09:15 am. Not as we remembered it pre covid.

Sat in the sunshine at an outside table with our cake & coffee - cake as always fresh & tasty, coffee well just a milky coloured weak version for coffee !

Popped in for bacon bap and coffee, while visiting Alsager. Lovely experience, staff helpful and polite good choice of products, nice seating area. Definitely revisit when back in the area.

Who can ever resist a Chatwins!! Bacon baps, savoury roll and pork pies are delicious. The coffee is also very good, only a 15 minute walk from our house.

Nice but a little expensive (17th May 21). Good service and selection. Clean WC. Nice atmosphere. Drinks and hot food is very hot! Although you can request a cooler drink I believe. Not as expensive as the Sandbach branch which was very poor value for money to eat in on 17th May also (got the order wrong as well, brown bap given instead of white). In fact I was the only one sitting in!

I popped in today at around 1:15pm to get lunch for four people. There wasn't a queue which was great & the staff were really friendly & efficient. The food, as always from Chatwins was excellent.

Chatwins are my favourite takeaway/sit in. Great quality carvery baps and salad selections The cakes are delicious and a real treat ! A couple of recent disappointments include that service could be more prompt given the numbers behind the counter and sadly sometimes the salad portions are a bit skimpy for the price charged. Overall though still my top of the baps.

my mum and I love all our lunches here, the staff are very friendly and helpful, the food is fabulous.

My sister in law and I go most weeks for a coffee and the coffee is great, the food looks good too and the place is usually full of people having lunch.

Whether I pop in for breakfast , coffee and cake or Sunday roast bap , I’m never disappointed. Good service and good food

Amazing great food at great prices!!

My wife called in this branch of what used to be a high quality bakery to get us a sandwich and a cake for lunch. The cakes are on the "eat in" counter so after queuing for the sandwich she went to the cakes to see what was available. She was told by the assistant she was not allowed to serve her and once she had chosen what cake she would have to re-join the back of the queue for take away!! Only one assistant on the take away counter so the queue stretched in to the street, We did without the sandwiches and went elsewhere. Unless you have lots of time - avoid this place!!

The coffee shop is very nicely laid out. The staff were very friendly and the service was excellent.

I was looking for somewhere to eat on Sunday morning and didn't want to eat cardboard food from Costa so came across this place as frontage on high street was very appealingHad the full breakfast and my family had toasties. all arrived fresh and was good . Coffee was decent for an automatic machine and the staff were friendly and helpful my only feedback would be to look at a music license for some subtle background sounds to help with ambiance. will come again and use as my regular Alsager drop off

Always very busy good food and service

We visited Chatwins at lunch time. The food is very nice and well presented. The service is slow and they virtually don’t recognise that you are there.

Was actually served by a very pleasant person for a change!

Beautiful place, clean, very friendly and helpful staff. Food excellent quality ingredients with a good selection, highly recommended. Also child friendly with outside eating area.

Food ok but staff awful, loads of staff but to busy talking and long wait for your food.

Popped in for something to eat on the way to the Lake District. We both enjoyed a breakfast and a latte each. Fantastic breakfast! The toast was incredible! Everything was cooked to perfection and the girls were all very polite. A great start to our anniversary break away.
