OMG. Take a bow. If you like seafood at the highest quality then get your table booked. Attentive staff , lovely setting. (We had a table in the Copper Room). Starter was really good , could have possibly been a bit hotter. But the mains were quite simply amazing. We both had the bouillabaisse that was breathtaking and delicious at the same time. We had the panna cotta to share for dessert, a fairly large portion that was maybe a little over set. But please understand that I am picking fault as being an ex chef. Get it booked, the bouillabaisse is stunning.

Excellent service and wonderful food. The only restaurant I’ve been to recently where a great meal is guaranteed and no seasoning required. Cod supreme was divine, especially the accompanying veloute. Special Thai curry was greeted with a similar reaction A lovely pub, great atmosphere and beautiful food - try it!

Partner and I enjoyed an overnight stay here on the way to attend a family event in Stockport. This is a lovely historic pub and the room we stayed in was clean, comfortable, and very well appointed. We had booked an evening meal there and although it was very busy (even for a midweek night) service was friendly and efficient. The food itself was delicious and all cooked by the chef/patron. I had sardines for starters while my partner has the carrot soup, both very nice. We both had a megrim sole, cooked on the bone, for our mains, and, even though we were pretty full, managed to fit in a delicious dessert each. All in all, it was one of the tastiest fish meals we've had in a while. The following morning, breakfast was the highlight of our day. Partner opted for a Derbyshire oatcake topped with bacon, mushrooms, and poached eggs, while I had the porridge made with oatmeal, fresh cream and topped with demerara sugar. Again, all these were cooked fresh by the chef/patron. I would definitely stay at the Swan again if in the area, it's absolutely top class for food, comfort, and service.

We went for dinner on 26th Aug 2024, we have been before, this is a destination food pub led by Robert a top chef and his trained team, the menu is changed daly whatever you order is spectacular some mains are very generously portioned. Seafood is a specialty with lots of other options available. It’s a free house so the real ale is lovely and also changes. A fine wine selection along with nibbles is also available. The pub is centuries old with the addition of a modern bright conservatory style extension. Luxury rooms have be transformed upstairs. You won’t be disappointed and booking essential in my opinion

An unassuming pub on the main road but omg the food and service were amazing. We got a warm welcome from the ladies in the bar who checked us in for a 1 night stay. We had open sandwiches for lunch steak and prawn ones which were utterly delicious. There's a great range of beers and wines which they were very happy to let us taste. Our room was super clean and bright with a huge very comfy bed and great bathroom. Lots of hot water and proper sized bath towels. Dinner was sublime there's a fab menu choice and the waiting staff helped us with choice. We had pork and seafood risotto which were both amazing I took home a good portion of risotto it was full of fish and seafood. The waiting staff were attentive and super cheery. Breakfast was again delicious really well cooked and served. We couldn't fault them at all just a shame about the weather. We took a walk upto Pym Chair and got very wet but on a sunny day the walks would give you stunning views over Derbyshire. We def recommend and will return.

I had the great pleasure to stay five night at The Swan with my family as we visited a relative in the village. The accommodation was very nice with cosy, quiet and clean rooms, and a fantastic breakfast menu of hot dishes complemented with yoghurt with berries and cereals, toast, and tea/coffee. We also had dinner in the pub several times, and were never disappointed. Food was great, the service top notch and the personnel friendly and professional. Actually, the fish and chips was by far the best I have ever had. Just fantastic. While in Kettleshulm we walked the beautiful hills around the village, and visited nearby towns by bus, which was quite convenient with the bus stop just outside the pub. All in all a highly recommended retreat for both dining and accommodation.

I have been many times for fine dining, beers after rock climbing and straight pub lunch. There is a cosy traditional bar and snug, pub restaurant and beautiful fine dining restaurant. The staff are always welcoming and in winter the fire is always lit, outside heaters if you would prefer. The Restaurant food is exceptional, expensive but absolutely worth every penny. We have dined as a couple and in a group, I can absolutely recommend the 'dine by candle light' experiences if you have the chance. The food is well thought out, often cooked on candlelight and a Wonderfull mixture of colours, flavours and textures.

My brother and I visited the swan tonight with an old friend of ours. He'd recommended it to us as he'd been there before. It was along way to come for us but it was worth it. I booked by phone about an hour before arrival, the lady on the phone was very helpful, she put us in the small room next to the bar. On arrival we asked if we could move to the table by the fire in the bar area, no problem they said. We ordered our drinks while we looked over the menu. We only had a main each, the food looked nice , a little more expensive than we'd usually pay, but I'd see the positive reviews about the food. 2 of us had the 10 oz ribeye steak with chips, vine tomatoes and mushroom, with blackberry sauce and peppercorn sauce, my brother had the cod. The steaks were cooked to perfection ! And according to my brother the cod was very nice to. We decided to have a dessert, so we had a crumble between the 3 of us, coz we were stuffed. All in all a lovely meal. The pub itself is in a very nice setting in kettleshulme just near Pott Shrigley, in the lovely peak district. There is a nice bar area with a roaring fire, and a nice restaurant area, plus outside seating for the summer months. The pub also has rooms which is ideal for a short break. Finally the staff were great, very efficient and friendly to. Special mention goes to Jayne (with a y ! So not plain Jane). Who we enjoyed a good laugh with and helped make it a very enjoyable afternoon. We will be back I'm sure.

consistently good food and friendly, cosy venue but some prices are now disproportionately expensive and will put us off booking in future. Some prices we do understand reflect the cost of produce at the moment but we ordered a cheese board which cost £18 and consisted of five very thin slices of cheese, a handful of crackers with relish and a few grapes which shocked us all and £32 for a fish curry - a very good fish curry but.......!

This place is quite expensive for pub grub but then this isn’t your average pub food, this is high-end restaurant cooking, set in very pleasant and friendly surroundings. We had just visited Whaley Bridge and had failed to find anywhere there that took our fancy so decided to take pot luck on our way home to Manchester. Luckily, we stumbled across this place and were relieved to find that they were still serving food in the middle of the afternoon. I ordered the whole plaice cooked on the bone with tenderstem broccoli , a shrimp and caper butter sauce and chips whilst my wife ordered guinea-fowl with pomme purée, mixed vegetables and a mushroom and brandy sauce. My plaice was delicious, perfectly cooked with sweet succulent flesh falling away from the bone and a lovely char on the tenderstem. However, this was trumped by the taster my wife gave me from her plate. Wow, the Guinea-fowl was lovely and moist, the pomme purée was indulgent but what made it so special was the mushroom and brandy sauce. I am not usually a great fan of mushroom sauces but this was a mushroom sauce like no other I have ever tasted. It was so intense, almost meaty, but didn’t overpower the rest of the plate. As I said at the outset, there’s pub grub and then there’s food like this that you don’t often find in such establishments. We ate at The Hand and Flowers in Marlow (Tom Kerridge’s place, 2 stars) a few years ago and this food would not be out of place on that menu. Definitely one of the top pub meals we have ever eaten.

Second visit. Found this second visit disappointing after the first being so good. The reason being, we found the food bland and a limited menu. Desert menu appeared to have been buffered up with ice cream which makes for a pricey dessert, looked liked a quick fix but nothing of creativity. One of the ones we chose was ice cream in gin glass which really wasn’t chef quality. Mains bland and rather boring. Starter nice enough but prawns a bit tough. Prices are slightly greedy for both the wine and food for the experience and quality we experienced , example a £12.50 rose served in a thick chunky warm Wine glass is not really in line with the price scale. Ambience in restaurant is ok but could be improved with a bit of soft background music as all we could hear were other diners conversations word for word. This review is not to advise not to go but to provide areas of improvement. We did wonder if the kitchen had a different chef from our last visit. We wouldn’t rush back as there are other places that are much better but if In passing we would give it another try given our first visit was perfect. The serving staff are lovely.

This is a great find, beautiful food, gorgeous tasteful updating of what must be a historic Ale house. Modern but imaginative and clean. And the chef provided an encompassing menu for all the foodies and vegetarian requirements in this world .We had one of our party who does not like seafood but they had the duck and found it very good. We had the scallop starter, fish stew main and I cant remember what the desert was as the wine was so good. My son had the white chocolate crème brulee with strawberry sorbet, which looked sooo good. We have visited the The Swan several times now - and wanted to give feedback - as this has to be one of the best pub / restaurants in the area We shared Asian seared Tuna as a starter - which was just seared and set on a bed of home made coleslaw For main we ordered the lamb and the 16oz plaice The lamb came with asparagus and new potato's crush with mint - absolutely excellent and cooked perfectly The plaice was massive ! cooked perfectly - and served with cooked prawns. It also came with a side portion of chips and home made tartare sauce. Again an excellent main course Both cooked in their special oven - which gave both a very mild BBQ taste - which just added that extra special flavour Staff / service was very good. This was the first time we had sat in the small room on the left as you enter which was nice, but the open plan dinning on the right side is stunning - so suggest book in advance and request the larger dinning area We will be back and recommend anyone to try it

A welcome return to the Swan after lockdown and the flood which closed the Swan. It has been nicely refurbished, attractive new furniture and the food remains outstanding. The Josper oven gives many of the dishes a nice twist.

Lovely food as expected and the beer was good as well. Lovely sat outside watching the world go by. One word of warning, if your taller than five foot ten beware of the very low door frame when entering or leaving, especially if you have...

Great food, lovely atmosphere and very nice staff. Would highly recommend for any occasion. A special mention to bar manager Toby, who even gave us a lift home when we were let down by our taxi firm. Please pay them a visit.

A lovely place. Staff were welcoming and friendly and it was really busy despite it being Friday afternoon. Lovely conservatory to dine in but other diners sat outside which was also a lovely area helped by the sunny weather. Food amazing, not the cheapest place...

Boothroyd agrees that this a good place for an old King to drink. Surprisingly large pub with a rear patio. Boothroyd decided on a pint of draught Bass. Very good traditional ale. Sat in the strand twixt bar and garden, close to the Throne Room. Enjoyed the music.

Fabulous Sunday ‘Trio’ roast dinner - turkey, beef and thee most delicious pork belly with crispy crackling. Broccoli, glazed carrots, cabbage, parsnips, fluffy roast potatoes and cauliflower cheese to complete 😁 … and the dog was welcome too 🦮 Well worth the trip out.
