Sunday lunch. Cold food, young (quite stupid) staff who don't know the basics. Poor customer service. Will not go again and have informed friends as this has happened twice now. Forget it people.

Lovely setting, great atmosphere, friendly staff to humans and hounds & a great menu! Ben, in particular, was most impressive.

My sister from the US stopped so we had a family meal there sister said the room and experience was fantastic we all said the meals we had were excellent

It was not great! I was a walk in, looked down his nose at me, made to feel like an inconvenience and could not answer 2 simple questions. I left and went to the Legh Arms in Sale, 100% better experience!!

Unfortunately I am writing because I have just had a less than ideal experience in this pub. I ordered a coke from a pleasant young man at the bar, he replied by saying "We have Pepsi Max, is that OK?" To which I said that was fine. At this point an older man with grey hair, whom I assume was the manager as he was not wearing a uniform but a shirt and trousers, snapped at him quite nastily "Never do that again". This bothered me for two reasons. 1) He was telling an employee not to serve me the product I asked for but give me something else without informing me. 2) Far more importantly he quite nastily reprimanded a member of staff in front of customers. This left me very uncomfortable, I dread to think how the younger employee felt. I don't believe it is right to scald employees in front of customers and it is never ok to speak to a less senior colleague the way he did over such a minor issue whether there are witnesses or not. The whole thing left a rather sour taste in the mouth so we left after one drink and I don't imagine we will be returning any time soon.

From first arriving and being greeted with such a warm & friendly manner by the lady (from Devon) every aspect of our stay was nothing short of perfect! From the lovely young team working the bar & food service, to the gorgeous pub area & stunning garden, the beautifully appointed room (Hare Hill) We had lunch sat outside, evening meal inside & breakfast & each of the meals were delicious…could not fault any aspect of our stay & will most definitely be back again!

Absolutely wonderful experience. High quality inn with beautiful boutique steeped in history. Wonderful team and beautiful food.

A smart modern take on a country village pub. Food is to the usual Robinson's standard, a cut above what you get from other pub chains. If you take a window seat you can watch rich people driving their supercars through Prestbury.

Walked into the pub this morning to see 90% of the tables on the back covered in empty plates, glasses and rubbish...inside were 5 staff just talking having a laugh and checking their tic tok accounts. Not professional and not the first time it's been like this. Management needs to get a grip as the pubs reputation is going downhill.

Welcoming, friendly and attentive staff; well-appointed, spotless room with a very comfy bed; fabulous breakfast.

Lovely place for a stopover. Room was clean and spacious. Bed was very comfy. Brilliant shower. Free parking. Make sure register your vehicle when you check in. Parking is behind the pub. Breakfast was perfect with excellent service. Highly recommended.

It's a lovely, characterful hotel. A proper old hotel where the rooms are down a warren of corridors. The staff are lovely, the ambience and decor of the hotel is amazing and the food was first class,

We enjoyed the whole experience of our stay. The staff were very friendly and welcoming, the room was superb - very spacious, comfortable, and the added extras, such as fresh milk for a cup of tea, the mini fridge and the dog treats, were very thoughtful. The full English breakfast was one of the best we've had at a hotel for quality and quantity and the evening meal in the restaurant was delicious. The hotel/restaurant was clean and cosy and the beer garden was a lovely place to sit in the sun and have a drink. Great to have free parking too during our stay.

Great place for a short break in beautiful countryside and close to Manchester. Excellent customer service on arrival and throughout our stay. Very comfortable rooms, spotlessly clean with excellent in room amenities. Breakfast was superb. Definitely would stay again.

Lovely pub with loads of character for a Sunday lunch. One of the nicest pub meals we have had! Even had a dog lunch which was a real treat for our border collie.

What a beautiful pub I read somewhere that it was said to be visited on the way south from Scotland by Bonnie Prince Charlie in 1745 on the way to Derby in the Jacobite rising. They weren't sure about the history but told me they do have other famous people stopping by here. Lovely lunch I recommend the food especially the chutney.

A fab find! Last minute booking after a previously booked overnight stay elsewhere didn't come up to scratch. A friendly helpful welcome to us two tired ladies. We were provided with an enormous ground floor room. The huge wetroom/bathroom had excellent disabled facilities. A very comfortable bed and complete peace and quiet. A sound dinner of sea bream and fish and chips (battered in Robinsons ale batter- perfection) and a decent glass of wine. Charming service. A great night's sleep and excellent poached eggs and avocado on sourdough toast for breakfast .... with the smiliest waitress on hand to help. All in all .. 1st class.!!

If first impressions matter then this place is a winner. We were checked in very quickly and made to feel welcome. The place has a nice country pub vibe and our room is lovely. Looking forward to the rest of our stay 🙂 Update - it didn't disappoint. We enjoyed a few drinks and dinner and a comfortable night. Breakfast was great - quality rather than quantity but plenty of food. Friendly and attentive staff throughout our stay. We hope to visit again.

Lovely pub with lots of charm. Beautifully appointed and new everything. Oak beams. Spacious rooms and clean. The food was good with the usual choices . Wine was good if limited choice. Beer was nice and cold. Not cheap but certainly not extortionate. Definitely worth a look. Nice place and there is parking.

Stayed at the superb Legh Arms for 3mths pending. It's been an absolute joy & pleasure to stay here. It is quiet, very accommodating & the staff are so friendly. My room was kept immaculate daily. Nothing is any trouble. I feel very grateful for my stay here.

Called in on two consecutive January Wednesday evenings. This is a lovely, well-presented pub. Clearly a very dog friendly place. The staff are welcoming and polite. Week 1 Ate from the mid-week £15 Pie and Pint and had the chicken, ham and white wine. The pie was great - I didn't get much of the white wine flavour but it it was full of meat and the short crust pastry was fantastic, thick with a great crunch. Chips were hot and crispy and the gravy was thick and rich in flavour. Week 2 Only pie available (of choice of 5!) was meat and potato. Had fish and chips instead. Fish was delicious but chips were underdone, and nowhere near as good as previous week. On both occasions, the food has come out really quickly from kitchen

Lovely pub with beautiful old rooms. We had a night here for my birthday with family and stayed in a superior room. It was spacious and extremely comfortable with a lovely large bed with quality linens. Being in a village - the room was very quiet. Food in the pub is delicious - good range of options - not too fancy - so something for everyone (ideal for our occasion). Also very dog friendly which was a real bonus.

One of our favourite local pubs. Popped in on Christmas Eve afternoon for some lunch and must admit we weren’t very organised so hadn’t booked a table and didn’t fully expect to get one. However luckily for us they had just had a cancellation and the manager sorted us out with a table. The pub was absolutely packed with a good Christmas atmosphere but we never felt anything was an issue and we were really looked after. The food was spot on as usual. Really glad this pub is now established again.

Great pub. Went for breakfast for my mums birthday on Christmas Eve. Food was lovely and well priced and service was prompt and with a smile. We pre booked the room behind the bar as there was 12 of us. Thanks guys.

Perfect stay at the Legh Arms Room was immaculate Breakfast delicious. Also had a Sunday roast with was fab.

Legh Arms is well located in Prestbury's high street. Despite the restaurant and bar being very busy, the staff were attentive with quick service; dinner and breakfast were delicious. The bedroom was very well appointed. When next in the area we will return.

We called for lunch on our way from Manchester Airport, having spent a fabulous week in Iceland. The Legh Arms was so beautifully decorated for Christmas that the experience felt like an extension to our holiday!

The Legh Arms represents everything that one could wish for in a place to eat, drink and relax. It is absolutely perfect in every respect and I would highly recommend a visit soon to experience it's warmth and hsopitality.

Lovely historical pub in the heart of the town

Came for Sunday roast, everything was absolutely amazing! Between us we had the vegan nut roast, lamb, pork, beef and a burger. Everyone really enjoyed their food. Vegan nut roast was absolutely delicious which doesn’t often happen!! Crumble was lovely too. Really nice service, a slight wait but they were busy and also very communicative. Would love to come again! ☺️

Can’t comment on rooms as just had a drink and a meal. Restaurant, bar area and toilets all clean and well kept. Staff friendly and accommodating. Food good, with plenty of choice. Went late afternoon and staff very welcoming of young child with our party.

The Legh Arms were welcoming and service was as good as you could hope for. Each request made was dealt with earnestly and with a respectful attitude. Perhaps our large group caught them off guard in terms of the food delivery but there was an appreciation by the staff and an apology for the short comings of the service. The rooms are excellent and the whole event was enjoyed by our 18 guests.

We really raved about this place, particularly the home cooked Steak & Ale Pie which WAS legendary. In fact, we used the restaurant with family and friends over ten times in the last two months, because of it. Unfortunately, the home cooked Steak & Ale pie has now been replaced with a pastry thick, factory produced version, the likes of which can be found outside any football stadium. The staff told us it was a decision made by management, presumably as a cost cutting exercise. Personally I'd rather pay £1 or £2 more for the real thing than £16.95 for a heated up mass produced version. It's a real shame and we’re gutted as sadly we won’t be going back for the poor quality substitute as I'm guessing the same logic will be applied to the other dishes. Ah well, it was good while it lasted

Staying at the Legh Arms is a must if in the area. The booking process was very easy and I had an important meeting the next day. They reserved the snug form me at no additional cost which made an excellent meeting area. Good car park and easy and welcoming check-in. The really nice touch was being given a flask of fresh milk for tea/coffee. The room was really lovely, very clean and very comfortable. The breakfast was excellent using good quality produce. I can't rate this place highly enough. If I were to give it an out of 10 rating it would be 11. This exceptional Inn is highly recommended.

This Inn its exceptional and must if in the area. Booking was easy, plenty of car parking spaces, the check-in was a breeze and very welcoming. A nice touch was being given a flask of fresh milk for tea/coffee and being escorted to my room. This is a very old Inn and of course the room was of a rustic nature. It was very clean, with a comfortable bed with all the usual facilities at a luxury level. I slept very well. Breakfast is prepared to order and all of the ingredients were of a high quality. This place goes the extra oil to help and make your stay as stressfree as possible. I stay in a lot of hotels, but this place is exceptional. If I were to score it out of 10 I'd give it 11. Rare to find such excellent establishment.

Excellent Sunday lunch. Friendly bar and restaurant staff and great food. Fantastic Yorkshire puddings and plenty of perfectly cooked meat, we had the lamb and the beef, both great.

We came for a Sunday roast which was phenomenal! Quality of the beef was superb. Staff were friendly, efficient and attentive. We live 12 miles away but it’s worth the commute. Will definitely recommend to friends and family.

Had a lovely drink at the pub who gave excellent service from Lucas who was very attentive and was very helpful making sure we were comfortable.

Visited here for the first time yesterday around 6.15pm and was served by a couple of lovely young girls on the bar. Shortly after sitting down I heard a glass break and thought absolutely nothing of it unless someone who appeared to be the manager came over to the bar and started speaking in the most appalling way to the young barmaids in-front of many members of the public, shouting at them about the glass breaking, saying they won’t be laughing when it comes out of their wages - continued shouting and making comments for a good few minutes. Rather than pull them aside quietly and speak to them about it he chose to shout at the girls in-front of everyone, making multiple nasty remarks. I was shocked as this is no way to treat staff - it created a horribly uncomfortable atmosphere. As if this wasn’t enough, then man then proceeded to start speaking to some customers about the barmaids (right in-front of them) to say “what the girls make up for in looks, they let down in their juggling skills” which was extremely degrading and definitely didn’t come across well as a “joke” after hearing him scream and shout at them. Usually I would have approached this member of staff and made my complaint in person however after seeing the way he spoke to these young girls I did not feel comfortable to do so. We left after finishing our first drink as we no longer wanted to dine here. Just to be clear this 1 star review is completely based on the manager shouting abuse at his staff which ruined our time here and cut it short - apart from that the girls serving behind the bar were absolutely lovely, pleasant and served us quickly.

The Legh Arms is an excellent place to stay, my Wife and I really enjoyed our 5 days there.

Beautifully restored building. Very comfortable and atmospheric. Good choices on evening menu. Nice meal with prompt friendly service. Stayed overnight on B&B basis. Good sized comfortable standard room and bathroom. Bathroom ready for upgrading/redecorating but more than adequate.

Called in on spec' & was greeted by really friendly staff. Head man (sorry can't remember name) & my wife & I hit it off almost immediately. It was no trouble for him to accommodate a change in the menu for my wife - unlike some places that stick rigidly to what is printed. We had good banter with him being a Yorkshireman & Leeds fan, & myself a Brummie Villan. Decor was really nice, giving a lovely ambiance So my wife had an adapted fish & chips (reduced price available on a Wednesday, & this was a Thursday), & I had the gammon. Both meals were top notch, however £9.25 for a large Shiraz meant it didn't taste as smooth as it should have. All said & done, would highly recommend
