Boothroyd agrees that this a good place for an old King to drink. Surprisingly large pub with a rear patio. Boothroyd decided on a pint of draught Bass. Very good traditional ale. Sat in the strand twixt bar and garden, close to the Throne Room. Enjoyed the music.

I do not enjoy football (sorry). But we went to the kings today and watched the football. Excellent food at half time, superb atmosphere. There was a disco that played what the customers asked. Had a sing along. Made new friends and actually enjoyed the football. Well done Steve and Keyley, you run a great pub and thank you. Had the best time ever

Very atmospheric old pub. I decided to take my family instead of struggling to find parking in Leek on December 30. Nearby parking is very cheap. The beer was outstandingly good. Meals were also really nice - not too much. Fried fish absolutely first class. Kids dinner ok with a fruit juice. Ok for small children who'll probably leave most of it in any case. But over 8's I'd order an adult dinner. Lots of different rooms, and nooks and crannies. Even the piano in reasonable tune with just one sticky hammer. Mature Staff when we were there.

Went in for lunch had ham eggs and chips. 2 slices of wafer thin ham 2 gets and half a dozen chips

Service was appalling whilst me and my husband were visiting for drinks we witnessed him yelling at a group of girls and proceeding to lock the doors on them when they got up to leave. I'm unsure about what provoked this but the reaction from the "professionals" was completely inappropriate. Overall it was a poor representation of the pub itself and i strongly feel that new staff are needed.

Popped in today for lunch, not been in for a while, hubby enjoyed a hearty portion of sausage mash peas and gravy and I had a lovely homemade curry & rice with chunky chips for only £1 extra, lovely food and friendly new owners. Very reasonable prices, see you next week Ray & Jackie.

Beware, on ordering a gin and tonic and a pint of bitter, at a busy time on Saturday night at the bar, the barman tried to charge me £23.35 for the two drinks. He quickly flashed the card machine at me and I could easily have just flashed my card at the handheld card reader which he presented without letting me see the amount. He was most apologetic after I queried the exorbitant charge but it is difficult to see how such a mistake was anything other than a hustle.

First time in The Olde Kings Arms, very welcoming and lovely food. 'Dog Friendly' & they even brought a bowl of water over for our dog.

Lovely meal last night, service great and was filling up as we left for the act - shame we couldn’t stay to watch! A must try.

Not been to Congleton for years traffic coming in terrible because of road works. Came across this pub they allow dogs inside plus on the counter bowl & containers with fresh water & bonio biscuits 🤗Food loverly nice selection staff & customers very friendly loverly small quaint historical pub.

Problems with the food could not eat it.

Appalling…. staff which made us feel very uncomfortable as the two of them blatantly sat there and watched us eating our food while talking about us in the distance. Greasy shepards pie and I had a sharp hard stem that I cut my mouth on. The grease from the food made me feel so bloated afterwards to the point where it was a struggle to walk back to my car. Afterward I finished my meal, the staff never came to the table as we patiently waited for a desert as I mentioned to them that I wanted one, it was clear that they just wanted us to get up and leave. They are two faced and the pub is only popular because it’s ran by women walking around in tight sports wear. Don’t know where all of the good reviews come from, never again!

We have been visiting family in Congleton this last 4 days and been here for dinner every evening. Could not believe how cheap the food is compared to what we pay in Southampton. It is very tasty and the portions are very big. A lovely old pub with very friendly staff. A bit noisy on a Wednesday night as have a singer (who cannot sing) as entertainment. Pity about the very loud and drunk old lady too. She drowned out everything with her screeching. Highly recommended otherwise.

Good selection of craft ales. Open at 12.00. Most of pubs appeared to be closed until much later. Good selection of food available for lunch. Drinks and food reasonable prices.

We sat amongst the group of local chaps who all appeared to have escaped domesticity to sit and talk nonsense, at least for a while , in the haven of their favourite pub. The friendly staff serve excellent well kept local ales and very reasonably priced food. We had dishes of veg slathered in melted cheese and looked at the various Titanic memorabilia which , given that this is a Titanic themed chain, may or may not be original (they’d be worth more that he pub if they are). Very pleasant lunch.

We had a fantastic meal on sat night. Such good food & drink.nothings too much trouble & the staff are wonderful. Always a pleasure to go there.!!!!!

Lovely pub with a great atmosphere. Spoke to the landlord about drinking Pernod in my youth and that not many pubs sell it now. When I went in two weeks later he'd got a bottle of Pernod specially for me! Legend!

At the Congleton Food & Drink Festival in the town streets. Very good, very busy, not over cheap. So we just popped into this real old pub for £6.95 Sunday lunch. Choice of roasts. For me, roast beef with two Yorkshire puds, roast potatoes and SIX veg! All for less than a gunge burger in the street. Brilliant with 5 beer engines too.

Got to be one of the best pubs I have visited throughout the UK. And I travel all over the place. Staff are so friendly and attentive, food is great value ands tasty and of course the beer also. Not had a bad meal or pint yet with myself or family and it's now a regular for myself when I can or especially when we have visitors. Atmosphere is Allways warm and friendly and have no problem with taking my kids there to eat. Would recommend.

A Really traditional public house, friendly staff , lovely atmosphere.

We stop here because i was drawn in by the sign outside for cheese pie which is a winner from me every time. The bar was very busy and it was only early which is always a good sign. The food wasn't expensive and it's home made which you just can't go wrong with. Very nice bar with the food to match, will definitely be returning.

Had the steak and ale covered in flaky pastry. My friends had the 4 cheese. All agreed the food was delicious and good value for money. Will definatly go again when next we go to Congleton.

The staff are friendly and funny, the beer is wonderful, I had Titanic Breweries Plum Porter. The food is tremendously well priced, sufficient in quantity and good quality. If you are interested in architecture or history it has added value in the building itself. Definitely a place to return to.

Great homemade classic pub grub done well. Kids meals are £3.50, Lasagna is £7.50. Steak, scampi and grilled chicken £13.50. Great value and a friendly atmosphere. Will 100% be returning. Credit to the chef. 👍

Visited Saturday 25th September..this is one of my favourite pubs in Congleton, reasonable prices, normally a good selection of real ales and really good value food... always visit when I come into town..

Three of us visited Sunday lunchtime and two of us had the lamb dinner, one a steak from the normal menu (main meals mostly £7). We also had puddings and coffees, and were very happy with everything, we plan to return when we are in the area again. The staff were cheerful, attentive and helpful.

Absolutely delicious steak for lunch today and the peppercorn sauce was amazing! Wish it wasn't 3.5 hours from home!

Really dissapointed in the service we recieved here. My 8 year old daughter found cling film in her pasta bake. When we raised this with the owner she had an extremely bad attitude and refused to do anything about it. We left our meals and will not be returning again. Terrbile expeience and very poor customer service.

I have just been to have Sunday lunch sadly I would not recommend it roast potatoes not cooked not really roasts, chicken came out all white like it had been broiled? as it was put in front of me, it did not look like a roast chicken dinner should someone else sent there 2 meals back who ever is cooking in that Kitchen should have a good think about what they are serving and presentation. It is sad when you have no good things to say about the meal.

What a beautiful little find. We're recommended after looking at a wedding venue for my sister. Food was beautiful, and very reasonable. Went in Kings Arms to support our local pub. Always have a great meal. It doesn't matter what you have they are all lovely meals. I recommend the Pub to all our friends and family.

Nice old pub, fair range of Ales, apparently does good value food though I've never eaten there
