Good service with nice decor and friendly staff. Good choice on menu hot and cold and I had a window shop in the cake area. Had Welsh Rarebit and Eggs Benedict and delicious. One poached egg slightly hard but as a person who doesn't make them as know it is hard to time consistency still good.

Met friends for breakfast this morning. The coffee wasn’t the best by any means. 3 of us ordered poached eggs, I asked for them to be medium. All 6 eggs were hard, mine were cold. My husband sent his back. It seemed hard for staff to clear the table once we had eaten and were waiting for a second drink we’d ordered. In the end I moved all the dirty cups myself. Why is poaching an egg so difficult???

Second time having afternoon tea at this amazing place. A great menu, delicious sandwiches, cake and drinks with excellent service. We were a table of 9 friends and everyone commented on how much they enjoyed it. We’d all highly recommend Whytes.

A group of us all dressed as Viking's as we were appearing at Tutbury Castle, aranged to have lunch at Whytes - Sally, took our order in advance and we were able to all sit together at one long table. The food was delicious, very tasty - we all had something different and the staff even accommodated one of our group who wanted something not normally on the menu. Service was great too, we were greeted with courtesy and welcoming smiles. We can all definitely add our voices to other epople that have recommended Whytes.

Excellent food and good service. We enjoyed a leisurely lunch and catch up. We didn’t feel rushed in any way. I enjoyed my ham and cheese panini, with side salad. I had the coffee and walnut cake for dessert, and it was amazing 🤩

Popped in with my Mum to have a cup of tea and ended up having a lovely panini each followed by cake. The cafe is clean with toilets available. The choice of savoury food is varied with many cakes on display at the counter to eat in or takeaway and they also sell bread. Overall a lovely visit and we will definitely be going back again.

This is a cute in a delightful village setting. We parked for free close by and ordered breakfast and drinks. The staff were very polite and helpful and the food was well presented. We chatted and ate and stayed to chat for some time ordering more drinks, it really was quite cool in there. When I went to the toilet it was absolutely freezing at the back of the shop where the toilets were and I would suggest to the establishment to buy some heaters to make their patronage more comfortable.

I thought this cafe had closed after the lockdown it was a nice surprise to find it open again, for a Saturday lunch we were only couple in the cafe, which was a far cry from the hustle and bustle experienced before the lockdown, as with all cafes that have opened, the menu is reduced. I’m not sure if we will visit soon as the cafe need to build up the the lost customer for closing an extra month, the food also needs customer ambience, it’s all about ambience and food choice.

A group of us booked for a family brunch. It was a little chilly so didnt feel very comfortable sutting at our table. We ordered a selection of breakfast dishes (8 if us). Unfortunately everyone had overcooked eggs, poached were very hard and scrambled were terribly dry. Two dishes went back , two scrambled went almost untouched. The very dry ( hard crusts) toast really didnt help. I have been several times previously for lunch which have been not too bad. Unfortunately I wont go back for breakfast.

Went in at 3.40pm for a quick cup of tea. Turned away from a mainly empty cafe as they were closing at 4pm. Really! There were six of us so good lost business. Won’t be going back in a hurry.

only word to describe it was embarrassing. asked for a mango smoothie, i watched the waiter make it. she put about 5 mango chunks and some apple juice in a blender, blended it and served it to me. wasn’t even a smoothie, no ice at all. rather apple juice with mango chunks floating around in it, was appalling, especially for the £3 i paid

Decided to take a drive up to Tutbury and discovered that we hadn't tried this establishment for breakfast. Being served was rather slow, but I could understand why it was so busy once my vegetarian breakfast with gluten free bread had been presented to me. I found my breakfast to absolutely delicious. My husband had also thoroughly enjoyed his rendition of a full English breakfast. Will certainly be returning in the very near future.

We stopped in Tutbury for morning tea. This was actually our second choice - our first choice was open but we felt they were overcharging for tea. Everything was OK, although there was a very limited choice of cakes, etc. So, unless calling in for lunch, we'd go elsewhere next time.

When in Tutbury we call in here- this time for a family light lunch. Speedy service after a good welcome, and good quality fresh food attractively presented. So again this venue met all our expectations. The car park immediately adjacent is now pay and display.

Whytes coffee house is a nice place to go and have a drink and a cake! Even though there was not much on the lunch menu it was nice to socialize with my family! There is outdoor seating and little type of huts with tables in. Staff are also very friendly!

Enjoyed an impromptu visit to this cafe with children and father-in-law. The coffees were of very high quality and we had a couple of children’s milkshakes. The latter were a little pricier than average but the service was super and the ambiance pleasant. We would not hesitate to return if we happened to be int he area though.

Popped in for a coffee and cake and that is exactly what we got on route to the station whilst it was raining outside. Nice location as the rest of the local eateries closed at 4pm yesterday. Coffee was made to my taste and the chocolate cake was huge. Would return again.

Visited this cafe on a number of occasions when visiting friends. Great food & hot drinks. Staff are always very nice and friendly. I was very disappointed today when dogs were allowed in when l was eating. The dog was barking and was tall enough and put his face on the table. Can’t imagine if the table was not wiped clean properly!! I was eating my cake and all l could smell was dog!!

Myself and my partner regularly go to Whytes for breakfast at the weekend. Fantastic Eggs Benedict, great coffee, lovely cakes. Staff are always friendly and welcoming, never had a bad experience. A few initial teething problems when they first opened but service is much more organised now they’ve got in the swing of it. Lovely place to have on the doorstep. We’ll be back soon!

This is only the second time I’ve been although I’m tutbury born and bred. Never again! On both occasions the staff were rude and very unfriendly. We waited 40 minutes for a cheese sandwich so no cooking was involved and three tables came in after us - they all ate and had their drinks etc and we were still waiting! Even though I went to the counter to tell them, they were almost hostile. When the food did come the bread was not fresh and was hard so I didnt enjoy it. They need people who can speak to the public not just youngsters with no people skills at all. They were busy so it’s a goldmine but a shame they don’t get their act together. Well I’m sorry it’s such a bad review but I’ve been to some amazing places but won’t be going to this one again

We chose Whyte's for a birthday breakfast celebration and the overall experience was worth the top rating. We experienced a friendly welcome and service and were placed in their private alcove, where we had the intriguing experience of dining from an antique burr-walnut table, but one that was sadly past its best and had been plastered with thick varnish. On a chilly morning this was a pleasant environment.

We were so looking forward to our breakfast and then unbeknown to us, the restaurant was inundated with dogs. It is not made clear on the website that this is a dog friendly restaurant or I would not have booked as one of us is allergic to dog hair. Such a shame. The dog area should be separate. Not the dining experience we all want to share. Never got to taste my eggs benedict. 😔
