Proper British Pub. No food, no service. But a good environment for get-togethers with work mates after work.

Great pub quiz and good selection of drinks. Bar staff could perhaps be a little more cheerful.

Went for the Sunday roast. The food was not bad, I would go again but not for the price I paid. Service very friendly and helpful.

NEW UPDATE 21st APRIL 2025… I WAS CONTACTED BY A MEMBER OF STAFF WHO ACCUSED ME OF CAUSING THEIR DISMISSAL DUE TO THE REVIEW I LEFT… really THE FACT THE PERSON HUNTED AND FOUND ME ON A DIFFERENT SOCIAL SITE AINT GOOD! PEOPLE PLEASE BE CAUTIOUS WHEN WRITING REVIEWS ON THIS PLACE THEY MAY COME FOR YOU…. 😳 UPDATED 06th APRIL 2025… 2nd visit… So sadly after previously coming here nearly a year ago we decided to go again today and it was completely different. Me, my partner and kid walked to the food area expecting someone to greet us but there was nobody around, we could see it wasn’t busy. We took a seat and a member of staff walked pass, I asked him if we could order and he tapped the barcode sticker table and walked off… RUDE! We didn’t have to wait long for the meals, we ordered 2 Jerk chicken roast dinners and a portion of chips for my kid. A waitress brought the food over, didn’t say anything to us and walked off leaving us wondering where’s the cutlery. After a moment we realised she wasn’t coming back so we took a set from another table. Didn’t even offer and sauce for the chips or and salt or pepper. We started eating and it was absolutely disgusted!! SALTY SALTY SALTY!! 2 dead little potatoes, mushy watery vegetables, the rice was like rice pudding and the 2 dead little pieces of so called jerk chicken… the jerk marinade was nasty! £21 each and £4 for some dead fries! Nearly £50.. we planned to buy drinks once the food came, but there was no way I was spending anymore money in that place!! Two members of staff walked passed us took a glimpse at us/table and never once asked if everything was ok.. you get a better service from them just eat delivery people. ABSOLUTELY AWFUL!!! NEVER NEVER EVER EVER AGAIN!!!!! NEVER!!!! FIRST VISIT…… 2024 Came here over the weekend for a Sunday roast. The layout was very deceiving from the outside I wasn’t expecting such a nice layout! We got drink then headed to the dining area where we were greeted and seated by a nice young lady with cowboy boots, she was really cool. I ordered the roast pork dinner and my partner ordered the roast chicken dinner. It was a little busy but both plates arrived in good time!! The pork was nice and even came with apple sauce, however the chicken was dry and the potatoes tasted like the where definitely cooked then went cold and the warmed up again! That beetroot & horseradish crush is a NO NO for us nxt time! Also the pork crackling.. no way came from that pig lol it tasted artificial.. Throughout our time we had and watched/witnessed the GREAT… I’ll say it again.. THE GREAT.. customer service given by the two ladies on Sunday 5th May! The interaction that one of the waitresses had with a family sitting near us was amazing! Overall the food was cool definitely filled the spot and the customer service was GREAT, so we will definitely be back soon!!!

Just ate here and the food was completely disgusting, and inedible. The “jerk” chicken was hard and had no flavour, and the bun was stale. The chips were clearly out of a packet too. Not good.

Fantastic old style pub that has been brought up to date with a west Indian menu. The food is on point. The Sunday roast was flavour on top of flavour. The portion size is going to satisfy. The chicken, lamb, and salmon offerings superb. I highly recommend this establishment, book to avoid disappointment. It's postioned at tge quite end of the rye.

Nice staff, cosy atmosphere, good drink deals

Food came out cold - asked for fries to be replaced as they were cold and the fries were reheated, they were pretty much inedible.

Girls behind the bar were incredibly rude my girlfriend was diabetic and they poured her a vodka lime soda with cordial not fresh lime - i asked to change it and they refused - charged me for 3 drinks and i only had 2 . Terrible form

Always a good mix of people and drinks here. £3.50 real ale wednesdays! What a touch.

Been here a few times, but this time we decided to try out their jerk roast and when I tell you I was mostly disappointed, I'm not playing. The starters were decent, we had the saltfish fritters and the wings. Both were tasty but I wouldn't say bursting with flavour. Then for mains I had the jerk lamb, which I was looking forward to ALL week. The portion size was good but the lamb was TOUGH, I rocked the table trying to cut it. The rice was nice but the potatoes let the side down, as well as the Yorkshire pudding. Staff are lovely and service was good but I wouldn't recommend this as a place to get a good Caribbean roast.

The cask beer now tastes lovely and fresh- thanks for sorting that out, horses!

Food, atmosphere, staff lovely and welcoming. Lovely lady wearing reindeer ears (sorry didn't catch her name) served me and my cousin. She was such a lovely vibe, and her customer service was 100!!!! Carribean Roast, scotch bonnet wings, saltfish fritters, mac & cheese was amazing!

Staff were so lovely here but unfortunately the food wasn’t great at all. I had the plantain and chickpea curry and it didn’t have any flavour other than a bit of spice. Very disappointing as I was looking forward to it and not worth £15. The vegan burger was £10 and didn’t include chips… and it didn’t come with vegan cheese which we paid for as an added extra. Burger King is cheaper and does a better vegan burger. Very disappointing and not worth eating here in my opinion.

Was served by a red haired lady called Jess? She refused to serve us as she mistook my boyfriend for someone she knew. 5 mins later she apologised and wanted to give us a free drink. Clearly high off something & kept going into the bathroom.. Never coming back here again.

This has to be the best Salt beef sandwhich I have ever eaten , my friend had the turkey which was equally amazing. I loved the chips , the best flavour of any salt beef I have eaten

Visit Wilde’s Delhi This place is unbelievable best Salt Beef in the world - better than NY Massive sandwich with added Turkey, so succulent - with super crispy chips Oh yes try the latkes and pickles- amazing

VERIFIED We held my brother's Wake at The White Horse Pub, Peckham Rye on Wednesday 10th April 2024. All of the staff were efficient and courteous. Had a good time at this deceptively large pub that goes right back and has lots of seating areas. Atmosphere was good, very busy and the crowd was fairly middle class. Music was decent. They clear the floor so people can dance a bit later. Can drink outside too. Shows sport on a couple of screens. The big downside was the toilet which was in a state, absolutely stank and wasn’t cleaned all night. Horrible. One of Peckham’s better pubs but that’s not saying much.

Not been for a while. Was a Sunday early evening 🌃 mainly to play pool 🎱 Football coverage also. Good that have partition for pool. I've read good reviews about their Sunday dinners but wait time perhaps longer wait.

I've never been to a pub that sells carribean food and the quality of the food was great. The staff were really helpful when ordering. What I will say is the food can take kind of long to come but I think that is a why the quality of the food is so good. With that said, it's expensive for a pub. There's a pool table too.

It was my first time at the establishment was going to order food but what made me change my mind was that a food handler's personal hygiene is very off-putting, to say the least. either they get uniform change/washed or wash themselves correctly or are not allowed to handle/serve food. I was so up for having some of the delicious menu on offer but left hungry. hopefully, this gets addressed.

Fantastic food. Exquisite Roti. Can't wait to go back and do it again. Highly recommended.

We had to wait an hour and a half for a roast...When we asked about the wait we were told it was unexpectedly busy, despite most of the pub seemingly reservations only... Small portions for the amount we paid. Only saving grace was the tasty gravy. Won't be visiting again!

Waited 1.5hrs for our Sunday roast to arrive, the portion is pretty small as well. Kitchen can't handle the volume even when the whole restaurant is pre-booked... Avoid

If you need a moment of calm, this place is it. Spent time meditating with numerous ciders. Friendly staff

Superb Sunday roast here. One of the best I’ve ever had in London. Top notch roasties, excellent gravy but oddly small plates given the very generous portions of everything.

The sandwiches and burgers here are unbelievably underrated, great unique selection of flavours that work perfectly, lovely garden and so spacious inside, excellent location and all round quality pub

Always friendly service. Stopped here for lunch today, they have a smaller Mondo Sando sandwich menu during the week. I never thought a sub/sandwich could taste so good. Highly recommend the Mondo Franco Peri Peri chicken.

The BEST roast I’ve had in London. Service was nice and the vibe was upbeat. Only downside is there were 3 red meat options and 1 vegan. Would have loved a chicken/white meat option.

Good pub! Excellent drinks. The name can be misleading I did not see any horses and certainly not white horses. To my toddler son it was a big disappointment as they are obsessed with horses.

Great vibe, the pool table is good fun and everyone is a good sport about it. The food was amazing - you have to try the beef burger and the crispy sprouts.

They went the extra mile going to buy hot chocolate for our order as they had run out. Pet friendly too

Really love the veggie roast - so many nice flavours like the beetroot, miso and such great mushrooms. Usually I hate roasts. The chef is very talented and this is now the only place I will go for a (veggie) roast! My friends said the meat ones are excellent too 😋

This is the friendliest pub I've been to in a while. Maybe it was the Friday night vibes; maybe it's the 90s aesthetic that's back en vogue, whatever it is, The White Horse gets my vote for best Friday night out in Peckham. Seriously, you can't go wrong. The music: top notch; the staff (including doorman): wonderful; the patrons, lovely. 10/10. Well, 5/5.

Great pub, had a great evening. The staff were brilliant, quick and helpful. Didn't eat, but saw Mondo Sandie's going out, and made note that the table fell silent when they arrived and no words were mentioned till everyone had finished - must be good. Definitely going back, blah blah. Would recommend to anyone.

Roast is bad had to wait over an hour for it. Hardly any gravy and pork over cooked. Nice staff though.

They were advertising £4 a pint and some other discounts from 4pm so we went in. No discounts on the beers or wine. When I questioned this the bar person mumbled something inaudible about it only applying to certain beers and wines? We left. We won't be returning.

Very expensive, but extremely average food

Have enjoyed Mondo Sando's food before a good few times, so felt like a good idea to try their roast at the White Horse. However the beef roast was really underwhelming and quite a small portion size. Two cold, meager thin slices of beef, one carrot, a burnt Yorkie and all for £17.50.

I absolutely loved the name. I love horses😍 I attended the Labour celebration event. I met with key people who are behind the success of Labour party. I drank Redbul and I paid 3 pounds😁Not too bad. A nice pub. I highly recommend it.

The food is excellent and the service is good too. The complaint I have is the loud music making it impossible to have a conversation with the other diners. I love the pub but it becomes uncomfortable with all the noise.
