Very disappointing - we had two vegetarian diners in our group, and we had checked the menu online before booking our dinner. On arrival, the vegetarian main had been removed from the menu, leaving only the soup starter available. We enquired with the staff, and they informed us that soup was the only option. We had to go elsewhere - I understand unexpected circumstances can change menus, but it seems incredibly short sighted not to include a single vegetarian main on the menu in 2024, or even offer to speak to the kitchen to see if anything could be done.

Lovely venue. Great selection of well kept beers, lovely (and reasonably priced) food and very friendly and welcoming staff. Full package. Quiz night was well run (we'll be back!) and the surprisingly beefy sound system was a great bonus (not overbearing but great quality for a pub!)

Lovely friendly pub, with a great beer selection. Staff are friendly, fast & helpful - particularly Liam. One star removed because they had a ‘DJ’ at 8pm on a Friday. The music was quite niche (sounded like elevator music), and loud - meaning it was hard to hear conversations. Said DJ seemed far more interested in his own record mix then whether the music suited the vibe. Otherwise a lovely pub.

## Simon the Tanner: Good food and friendly staff in a London pub I recently visited Simon the Tanner, a pub in London, and was pleasantly surprised by the experience. The staff were very friendly and welcoming, and the food was very good, especially for a pub. The pub has a cozy and inviting atmosphere, with a typical English interior. There is a wide choice of beers and ciders on tap, as well as an extensive wine list. The menu offers a variety of classic pub dishes, such as fish and chips, burgers and steak pies. I chose the steak and ale pie, which was delicious and tender. The portions were very generous and the prices were reasonable. The service was quick and efficient, and the staff were always happy to have a chat or make a recommendation. Overall I had a very positive experience at Simon the Tanner. It's a great pub to relax with friends, enjoy a nice meal and have a few drinks. I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a good pub in London. **Pros:** * Friendly and hospitable staff * Excellent food, especially for a pub * Cozy and inviting atmosphere * Wide choice of beers, ciders and wines * Reasonable prices **Cons:** * Can be busy on weekends * No parking nearby **Score:** 4/5 stars

Second visit to this Bermondsey gem. We’re fast becoming fans of the Sunday afternoon music sessions curated by Chris Coco’s Chillout Tent and delivered by some cracking DJs. A good range of drinks, and fine looking food that we hope to try (if we can ever get there early enough…) For us, the star of the show is the Celestion sound system and the friendly crowd who gather to hear the tunes.

Lovely Sunday Roast at a lovely, local independent pub. Flavours were great for both chicken and beef. Some great beers, including a British take on Weissbier, which was a bit on the lighter side for Weiss, but quite good and refreshing. 🍺 Great team, nice, polite and helpful people. I just wish that for £19-24 per roast, before gratuity, the portions were a little larger.

We just went for drinks, so the food grade is for the drink selection, but I really liked it. The staff were friendly and quick whilst the venue itself had a relaxed vibe with a live DJ, but the music was not overly loud, so you could hear yourself speak. It's one of those venues which when you go to you think 'aha this I'd uow to make a nice pub/bar' but full credit to the team there since if it were so simple all ours would be as good hir they're not. Sadly, I don't live close by, so I'm not sure when I'll go back, but hopefully, I will get the opportunity one day

This is a really good local pub, with lots on tap they also have a decent selection of wine. They have really cheap ales too so it's a good place to go if you're saving your pennies. The pub has no outdoors, so it can get a bit crowded inside. However, they don't play really loud music, so you can actually hear each other, which is rare atm. And it's got a really nice atmosphere. The food looks good, and I can tell they take pride in their food it's mostly pizza, but smelled really good, so I will need to give it a try next time.

The food was good. The menu is interesting. Not very coherent and a bit ‘wannabe fancy’ without the chops to pull it off, but not bad either. Everyone should be able to find something they like but it’s a very odd mix of options for a pub and while it was quite tasty it wasn’t outstanding. A good selection of drinks. There was one bartender who was fantastic. She took orders efficiently and was super friendly. The other guy there couldn’t hold more than one drink in his head at a time and went to serve people their food in the middle of pouring my drinks which meant I was waiting at the bar for about 20 minutes throughout my order. Every time he returned to me he asked me to repeat what else I had ordered. At least four times. It wasn’t great. What was great was the quiz. Quizmaster was fabulous. Questions were excellent. It was super fun. would come back for this despite everything else.

The prosecco was 8£ a glass and was served warm. Not impressed. I hate having to ask for ice for my warm prosecco. (For that price I expect it to be chilled... at any price I expect it to be chilled). It also wasn't that good of quality. Invited there because a friends friend was DJing (Didn't take requests, just played what he was paid to do, but was super nice none the less). The music was Brazilian disco? Lounge? Then some how turned into 80s pop. However the company was great. And the bar man from Canada was super nice as well.

Lunch 30th July - My parents were visiting so I booked for a Sunday roast. Not a great start when the waiter said 'It's summer we don't do Sunday roasts'. When I pointed out it doesn't say that anywhere on the website, he shrugged, didn't give an apology, and told me 'It's our website provider's fault'. From the moment we arrived, the waiter was rude and unpleasant to deal with. We even joked as a family saying 'I'm not going up to the bar, you go' because none of us wanted to deal with him. I understand people have bad days, but nobody has a right to make people feel so uncomfortable and unwelcome, especially paying customers wanting to have a nice family meal. Our food (steaks), then came and everything but the potato wedges were cold. None of us dared complain about the food though, because the waiter was so unpleasant and clearly couldn't care whether we were having a good or bad experience. Instead, we accepted defeat and decided to laugh about it all so as not to ruin my parents' time. If I had to give a positive - they have a lot of different lager and ale options and play good music. If you have to visit here, only come for a drink and be prepared for rudeness. Thoroughly disappointing and would suggest the owner addresses their waiter's attitude. Also, on the roast part, just upload a new menu under 'Sunday Lunch' to say 'No Sunday Lunch in summer'. Quick easy fix to avoid customer disappointment and to avoid looking unprofessional by blaming your 'website provider'.

FOR MORE, GO LISTEN TO OUR PODCAST - PUBTROTTERS PUBCAST WE ALWAYS GIVE 5s AS ALL PUBS ARE DIFFERENT AND GREAT! CONTEXT There for a 'meet our baby' social with some friends who hadn't met our 14 week year old daughter. Booked it 3 - 6pm ... we stayed till 8... ATMOSPHERE LOVED this pub! Its slightly off the beaten track near Borough Station in South London, and so for a Saturday afternoon of chilled baby boozing, was perfect atmosphere. Its quite small and you can see everyone from everywhere in the pub. Also some chairs out the front where it really captures the sun in the late afternoon, perfect. SERVICE Staff were lovely, very friendly and accommodating for us and our babyness which we appreciated. Fairly quiet, so if you're looking for a super busy part pub, maybe not this one, but maybe its different on other times. STYLE Classic pub, looks like an oldy from outside and i'm sure has had a few iterations over the years, but the inside is tidy, modern, but keeping with the great pub aesthetic with these awesome looking 'booths' with curtains on them (not sure what goes on when curtains are shut, but there you go :) ). TOILET Smelt lovely from the male end, my only criticism was baby changing was only in female toilets as far as i could see. PRICE London, that is all i'll say, expect premium pay. £6.70 for one pint, varied depending on what you ordered though. FOOD & DRINK SUPERB beer selection, both cast and keg, there seemed to be great choice of wine and spirits drank by our friends as well. We also had some polenta fries as a snack later on that were AMAZING! So yea well worth it.

Discovered this place accidentally, as it was the new local after our office relocated. Tried their wings at a staff party we held there and have been coming back (and telling all my friends about them) ever since. Best wings I've had in London to this date, I don't know what they put in the BBQ sauce, but we find ourselves wanting to lick it off the plate (and probably would if nobody could see). Very friendly and accommodating staff, lovely atmosphere, love the stack of games and the Watercolour Wednesdays. Now the only thing I miss about quitting that old job is no longer working around the corner from this gem. Still, will trek for wings all the way from zone 3 north.

Love this pub, has so much right but sadly the Sunday roasts are dead. Food took over an hour to come, it was rammed so that is what it is. When food did arrive, portion was small - £22 one piddely slice of Christmas Ham, hard as rock carrots, a little bit of cabbage, a ready made frozen Yorkshire (of the aunt Bessie’s variety) and a couple of roast potatoes. The quarter chicken, although nicely seasoned was tiny and had more bones than flesh. Food aside, everything else was bang on, just won’t be back for a roast anytime soon
