The Grange Pub in Southwark

My neighbourhood pub - they do literally everything from scratch, except maybe the burger brioche and their oven baked pizzas, Bloody Mary and generally desserts are lovely. Their Sunday roasts are so delicious! Though I wish there is an option for wine glasses too instead of the standard tumblers.

Google seems to treat this place as a hotel, which I guess it is, but as the name implies, it's a pub. We came around 7 o'clock on a Saturday evening. It was busy, but we got a table. Probably at least half of the people there appeared to be eating, but it's perfectly good to pop in for a drink. They have a good range of beers, including (oddly) a Sam Smith's lager, when they're certainly not a Sam Smith's pub. The Wednesday pub quiz is heavily promoted.

Nuestro servidor, una encantadora chica australiana, era encantador y nos dio un excelente servicio. La calidad de la comida era perfecta y había un ambiente encantador en el pub. De hecho, todo el personal joven era alegre, amable y atento – y lo más importante, dado que era el día de Navidad y estaban llenos, nunca nos apresuraron, pero nos hicieron sentir relajados! Gracias, personal de Grange - y un muy feliz año nuevo!

Wasn’t expecting a lot of vegan options but they did have them! The vegan pizza was amazing. I was with an Italian friend and she said the pizza is very authentic to how they make it back home. Definitely recommend the Grange pub for it’s delicious food 😋

Mi familia asistió ayer (día de Navidad) y quedaron enormemente decepcionados con el estándar de comida. Las comidas para niños parecían algo que obtendrías de una camioneta de hamburguesas y tibio. La mitad de la comida para adultos, es decir, la lubina, era gomosa, sobrecocinada y tibia, me arriesgaría a que se cocinara horas antes y luego se recalentara. Lo peor de todo es que la mitad de la comida principal de pavo se sirvió con la carne mal cocida, visiblemente rosa y de textura cruda. Tuvimos que enviarlos de vuelta solo para ahora recibir pavo seco sobrecocido y verduras duras que necesitarías una motosierra para cortar. El personal era educado y disculpado y nos ofreció dar platos alternativos, pero habíamos perdido toda confianza en la seguridad de sus habilidades de manipulación de alimentos en ese momento. Nos dieron £ 200 de descuento en nuestra factura que canceló nuestra factura de bebidas, pero aún así terminamos pagando por la comida. Evitaría este restaurante a toda costa a menos que quieras jugar a la ruleta rusa con tu salud. Estoy seguro de que hacen grandes currys en un día normal de la semana, pero se quedaron cortos en el día más importante del año. Nos arruinó el día y aparte de 3 invitados de 21 el resto de nosotros nos fuimos a casa hambrientos, sintiéndonos extremadamente estafados y preocupados de que pudieran ver una repetición de lo que consumieron.

Went in for a roast with family, a table for 4 we all had different meats and all were perfect. Great service and good atmosphere.

After the madness of central London, it is a quiet and pleasant place, and the meals are 10/10.

Great pub food - tried sausage and fish and chips, it’s comforting and tasty. Friendly staff. Haven’t tried the hotel.

We had an outstanding Sunday Roast at The Grange Pub in Bermondsey: perfectly cooked, juicy meat, flawless sides like crispy roast potatoes, and an impressive Yorkshire pudding. All the food here is delicious, and the chefs’ attention to detail really shines through. Big compliments to the staff for their warm service. A must-visit for a high-quality, authentic Sunday Roast in London!

Great pizza, friendly staff, will visit again.

I booked a table here through Matt for some joint birthday and engagement drinks, he was communicative and efficient throughout. He gave us a great table at the back of the pub, checked in on us, and was overall really helpful. The pizza's were also very nice. Would definitely recommend.

We have been coming back to the pub for several years and are very satisfied. It’s located central yet in a not to busy area. The rooms fulfill their purpose and despite my sensitive skin I've never had any problems. The staff were always super friendly and accommodating. The owners' dogs are probably the cutest welcoming committee in London. Huge praise goes to the kitchen. I love the food in the pub and would come back again and again just for that.

Come here every Thursday with our Tag Rugby team, the beer selection is good, the staff is really nice, and the food is fantastic! The pizzas are amazing, the chicken karaage a great addition to the menu, and if feeling hungry the burger is great!

Having had lunch at the pub which was very good I was excited to go for Sunday lunch. I asked very politely if I could change my roast potatoes at this they were very dry and appeared old ! Both the waitress and the manager told me it couldn’t be so as they had been freshly made so I politely said okay went to my table and asked for the bill. The manager then proceeded to tell me that I was the only person ever that didn’t like the potatoes that he tasted them and they were. Delicious and I can only say began an argument in front of all of the other tables I was really embarrassed. It really wasn’t the way to deal with a customer asking for a change of one item on the plate! It’s also not nice to have somebody else tell you what you should like. And in most restaurants (in my experience ) considering I had practically eaten nothing on the plate may have offered not to charge for the food or even suggest to discount it. I must add, I had asked for the bill had not expected anything ! The appalling way he dealt with the situation was shocking, especially as I was a solo eater and reminded him on two occasions that I felt embarrassed by his continuous attack on my opinion about the food! Otherwise this looks like a nice place. It has a lovely outdoor garden if the service was in anyway pleasant I would recommend the venue. So I ended up paying over £39 for meal I didn’t eat with one glass of wine..

What a lovely little pub in Bermondsey! It’s lovely inside, but we loved the beer garden area the most. It was really nice to be able to sit by the pizza oven and watch our pizza being made 😍 Food was lovely and staff were very friendly.

A pub (which is part of a hotel) that is not overcrowded with tourists even at the end of July, with a nice selection of draft beers and an outdoor area that is not particularly nice (you could certainly create a little more ambience, unfortunately the street is also quite busy). Not helpful. The food selection consists of delicious pizza variants (from the wood-fired oven) and a few other dishes such as burgers or fish & chips. The food was delicious, the waiting time was pleasant and courteous. The price-performance ratio was also okay for London standards . Go if you're nearby!

Establishment well located with bus stop right outside to reach the center of London. Quiet and comfortable place: A Relax armchair in the room, a TV and a very clean bathroom and toilet on the landing. Super friendly owner and adorable, loving dogs.

Great local pub, nice atmosphere, friendly, welcoming staff.. burger and chips was very tasty.. great place to watch the football, big screen.

One of my favourite pubs. Outdoor pizza oven, resident dogs, used to live nearby. Served by buses not trains really.

My wife and I had our wedding reception here in May 2024. We were looking for a simple pub wedding after our town hall ceremony, and picked this place because I'd lived nearby years before and always enjoyed the vibe, the delicious food and the great drink selection. From start to finish of organising our event, Matt and his team were a total dream. They helped plan out the menu, they made great suggestions about how the night should go, and on the day itself they made it a perfect night: we had the entire pub for our party, the team were friendly and helpful and there with drinks and food whenever you wanted it - plus they put up with hours of terrible music from our DJ too! All our guests were huge fans as well. I can't recommend the pub or the team enough. Thank you, Grange pub!

Great place for a quiet early afternoon drink

I absolutely loved the Grange! The ambiance was great, the oven pizza delicious and the service was really friendly. I would highly recommend this place if you are looking for a cozy place where you can chat with friends . It’s very spacious and has 2 front and one back gardens. We will definitely go back. Would of recommended this place before but one of the men who run this pub is just beyond arrogant and rude so will be telling everyone not to visit this place anymore. They need to work on their manners and keeping one of the dogs under control.

Went for a solo roast dinner here. Most definitely the worst I have had, even after 7 years in the military. I had 2 starters(because one wasn’t edible) a beef roast and 2 pints of Guinness and it came to £57.04 The roast potatoes were full of oil and were rock hard, the Yorkshire pudding was completely rock hard and burnt and the lamb was so so chewy. Possibly a bad day but would definitely not return

Normally, food and drinks are good in this pub, except today 05.01.2024. I visited the pub today, because a friend had eaten a pizza and he loved this pizza. Therefore, I went there today, also to eat a pizza. But, the pizza came out of the Microwave and was terrible. Trying to eat this pizza, was like chewing gum. The rest of my meal was exceptable. But because of the quality of the Pizza, I was devastated and I will for sure not visit this pub in the near future. All together was the visit to this pub today a very bad experience. This pizza should have joined the rubbish. The quality was low and the price high.

Booked a few tables for a party the other evening. Location is ideal and the venue is perfect for a group gathering. The staff were very accommodating also. How amazing the food was was a brilliant bonus!

A short walk from my home. The Sunday lunch was absolutely beautiful. The vegetables prepared to perfection. Service was with a smile and very responsive.

Rang the pub to try and book a room for one night in November. Was told in an irritated way to ring back because the pub was busy. Called later but the response and manner was again rude. Sounded like the manager (Australian accent) Have no idea how they ever get any bookings with an attitude to customer service like that! Very annoyed and disappointed with how I was treated! Also wanted to book my family into Sunday lunch but refused after being spoken to in such a rude way.

Nice pub and good beers on and whilst I didn't have food it looked a good menu. Good beers so prob doesn't get the recognition on that front with the beer mile so close. I stayed and rooms were basic but clean

An absolutely amazing and courteous place, we messed up our reservation but was lucky there was a cancelation and they were so kind and hospitable. Environment was clean and welcoming.

Nous avions dormis a l'auberge la semaine et pu manger au restaurant, je n'ai pas été déçue ! Les pizza sont excellente, cuites au feu de bois. Le cadre est excellent, le personnel est très accueillant. Même pour des pintes et des pintes de bu, je recommande a 100%!

What a lovely find this was. Great pub really beautifully done out with a good choice of beers and wines and excellent food. We had a freshly made wood fired pizza out in their charming garden. Henry provided excellent customer service. They are also showing the rugby world cup on a large screen. Highly recommended.

They have good beers, including local ones like Kernel and Partizan. The food is also good and all of the staff are lovely. Also, they’re independent! What more could you ask for in a pub?

We stayed in for 6 days. Room is clean and tidy. There's free coffee and tea. We also had beer have fish & chip, burger, and steak for lunch. Very Tasty and good portion.

Great atmosphere - very relaxed and with great attention to detail. The drinks selection is great - you can try beers from local breweries. The food is the best - homemade ice-cream, great quality of products and meat, always something new to try. Would definitely label it as gourmet pub. Service is great and staff are so friendly!

It was a private party of a friend and the place is great, the service is very good, the drinks are priced fairly . I did nit see the rooms as I live locally so did not need to stay there for the night

Went here for dinner and really enjoyed it. Food was perfect and cooked to perfection. Service also good. The only downside is that there are dogs allowed to run freely around the restaurant and on two occasions sat by my table waiting for food when I was eating. I am a dog lover but I don't think this is appropriate in a restaurant.

Lovely staff, the man running the place exceptionally nice and helpful. Clean good pub in Bermondsey with regular buses into and out of London. 25 minutes pleasant downhill from the Tower of London.

Nice beer garden and good selection of beers on tap. But I was charged service charge on beers I picked up from the bar. You’re already paying £7 for a pint. And we had ONE small plate. So I basically paid £3 for them to bring me that 1 plate of arancini. Bloody cheeky if you ask me.

Stayed here for a few nights, good enough for the price you pay. Shared bathrooms and a good bed.

Best place in town for a quiet evening, while having a chat, a beer and the best gourmet cheeseburger. Later edit 13/01/2023 Is there a Michelin star for pub food? Because if there is one, this pub should have two. The selfish me enjoys the fact this pub doesn’t seem to be so popular so I can always find a table. However, I feel it is only right people would know more about this place. One day, there will be a waiting list to reserve a table on a Friday evening. Until that day comes, I’m happy I can enjoy the Grange without booking in advance.

It’s the most accessible and inclusive pub in Bermondsey. It combines the atmosphere of a pub and good quality restaurant in one. There are few pubs in the area you can enjoy a drink in the warmth and actually be able to hear and have a good conversation with friends. It’s beautifully decorated and has a back garden with heaters. It has a friendly vibe - staff like to get to know customers needs and even if you just want to come a chill out with a book in peace you’re completely welcome. * Dog friendly * Chilled space with wifi to work or read * Lovely food - real pizza oven * Great atmosphere which encourages good customers * Zero tolerance for rowdy or aggressive customers * Good selections of drinks and wines As a female, I often enjoys a quiet drink with a book after work. In other pubs in the area I can find myself being harassed or males come, sit and wont leave me alone despite my requests. I’ve never had a problem here. The owner and staff are clear this is a space for everyone to feel comfortable and have a zero tolerance for rude, rowdy or aggressive customers.

This is a lovely pub with a great outdoor terrace both at the front and the back of the pub, very nice for private hire. The food is excellent and the staff are lovely. It is slightly on the pricier side for this area but the food is of good standard and they use fresh seasonal produce.

We went for lunch on a Saturday with a group of six, 3 of which were Italian and very fussy about their food! The place is cozy and not too loud or crazy busy (which was perfect because we were there with a baby and a dog) and staff were very friendly and attentive. The food was FANTASTIC. It's a small menu so we decided to try a bit of everything and I must say that this is one of the best pub meals we've had in London. Burgers were cooked to perfection and exactly like we requested them. The pork chops were tender and they come with a home made mustard jus which is to die for. The fish and chips was fried to perfection. They also have a nice selection of wines and beers and prices are fair and reasonable. We cannot wait to go back to try their pizzas! We loved The Grange and highly recommend it.

The location was great and the atmosphere also a good experience. Service was above and beyond. We'll probably end up going a price range up next time in order to have a more hotel-experience with toilets and showers in the room, but this was an excellent experience and one of the best locations you'll ever find in this price range.

Really great was there about 4 years ago and went for sunday dinner today. Really made welcome staff very nice and food to the same high standard as my last visit. Will always go back when in bermondsey for the weekend 👌🏻👌🏻👍🏻😁🤓FIVE STARS 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟(not one)
