Beautiful pub. With minimal notice Emma put on the most wonderful afternoon tea to celebrate my Dad after his funeral. We had a reserved space in the middle of the pub and the care and service we were given was awesome. Thank you for creating a lovely send off for Dad!

Didn't stay for food as we were too early. Restaurant reopens for evening at 6. Open at lunch time too. It all looks amazing. Restaurant all looking very good. . Atmosphere very good. Service excellent. . Hoping to return very soon for a family meal.No problem parking at back. Highly recommended. New owner very welcoming like Cullins Yard in Dover. Well done Richard and staff.

Nice enough pub - you can get a decent pint. The food was the best bit - I had a vegan burger which was very tasty.

Simply, I believe this to be the best pub lunch in the Hawkinge and Folkestone area. Emma, who served us, was excellent and the food was simply superb. Highly recommended

I booked a table for 18 people, 2 months ago, for 11 August. This was for a special family occasion. Today 9 days before our booking, the pub phones me up and cancels our booking, because they are no longer doing food on Sundays. I now have to find somewhere for 18 people, at short notice, fat chance. Shame on the White Horse for not contacting me earlier about this cancellation. I will not be going there again.

Nice setting, nice environment, but Sunday lunch was spoiled by a distinct lack of meat. The vegetables were nice but just one small slice of meat wasn't worth the money.

By chance we phoned through to book a table for 4 for Sunday lunch, having visited Dover castle. Anna was most courteous and managed to fit us in. I'd recommend booking in advance however, as we were lucky to get a table as the restaurant was busy. The Sunday lunch menu is excellent with great service too; also piping hot plates which we all really appreciated. Between us we ordered the prawn on bruschetta, a small portion, but very tasty. Halloumi fries which were delicious. Also, the hearty daily soup. For mains we had the ample roast lamb and beef dishes, served with substantial helpings of meat and excellent seasonal vegetables. One of us had the nut roast which I tasted, it was very good. Could not fault this meal or the efficient, friendly service. Will definitely return and take some pics next time :)

A usually great pub being ruined by an inept owner, Friday night and a band on to boot and there's currently 6 draft beers they've run out of, what an embarrassment, Nick should put it up for sale, he's clearly lacking money and interest, 👎🏼

Lovely old traditional pub with lovely drinkers! Came in with my husband last Sunday. We didn’t have anything to eat just popped in for the live music which was splendid. Lee behind the bar was so welcoming and chatty! A very friendly blonde lady working there too that seemed to be going between working the bar and the table service did a great job (I didn’t catch her name). Slightly spoiled the atmosphere though - myself and my husband could hear a lot of swearing from what looked like the back of house area. My husband even heard the waitress lady being told to f**k off!! This really spoiled things for us as she seemed like a lovely girl and looked quite upset but did a good job of carrying on bless her xx will most likely return despite this for the bar aspect.

Nice pub/restaurant. Tues night rotisserie chicken. Very good value and quality. £15 for half chicken plus 2 sides and a lovely homemade dessert. The chicken was pretty large. All in all very nice

A friendly local pub with a few hand pump beers. Tonight it was Rotisserie night on the menu, £15 for half a chicken, with 2 sides, of which there was several choices followed by a choice of desert. Food was home cooked and a really good standard. Would definitely go again.

Food was lovely until pudding. Was meant to be a banoffee pie but was just a massive chunk of buiscuit with a little cream 3 pieces of banana and very little toffee sauce. Very disappointed to say the least considering the puddings are charged at 8pounds each

The food was amazing, the reason why I give a low star is because after saying to the waitress multiple times that I'm lactose intolerant the chief still put leeks with cream on my plate, this has upset my stomach and made me ill. It is such a shame as the waiting staff were lovely and so was the food.

This pub/restaurant is a hidden gem! Lovely decor and atmosphere. They must use top ingredients as the food was delicious and cooked to perfection. The service we received was excellent and we can't wait to return.

I cannot speak highly enough of the food and atmosphere at this special pub. Very reasonable prices in these difficult times, an amazingly varied menu with most meals being Gluton Free or Option. We'll be back. Emma the manager deserves special praise for her personal knowledge and experience of Celiac disease and the openness of her experiences.

Fantastic pub with delicious food and best service ever

I had liver and bacon, wasn't that joyful about the meal, not much liver, bacon badly cooked, the bowl of food was swimming in gravy with the peas, mash ok but had to finish my meal with my desert spoon, not a lot of substance but hey the service was good food not so, nice place but won't go back, thanks.

We went there today for lunch. There was a wake going on and all the people there were happy and friendly. They appeared to have a buffet and the food looked excellent. As it was 'fish Friday' we had scampi and chips which was faultless. Clare the landlady was serving at the tables and Lee was behind the bar. Whilst busy, the service was prompt and faultless. Dog friendly too. Brilliant!

Lovely place for a Sunday roast all food is spot on

Very disappointed. Ham and eggs was tasteless supermarket ham. Caramelised onions more like burnt with steak that didn’t fill the bloomer bread. Frozen chips. Only salad cream on offer for the side salad. For a place that broadcasts its new food menu. Not worth the detour.

Friendly staff, lovely food, good portion size, easy to find to and park. They were a chef down and had one waitress for all of the tables but unless they had told us we wouldn’t have known!

Didn't eat here came for a drink.... Atmosphere is lovely you have people playing darts and having a laugh while others were dancing and I was in a quiet spot enjoy my drink the staff are lovely and friendly

We had Sunday dinner with a group of people for a 80th birthday party. The food was excellent and the company great looking forward to coming again.

I visited the white horse as part of the visiting darts team. The atmosphere was good, plus good wheelchair access.

Great food I had garlic mushrooms as a starter followed by hunters chicken and cheesecake for dessert, it was all fabulous. A good selection of beers and cocktails. Give this place a try.

Had Sunday lunch a couple of times and this evening had evening meal. All occasions food absolutely amazing for the price !!!!! However every time the experience has been made so special by the waitress, she has been on her own every time we have been there and just couldn’t fault her.

We called in today when it opened, never been before, but the reception from the landlady and staff was wonderful. We didn’t eat, so cannot comment on the food, but what a lovely friendly reception, and would definitely go again. Lovely and clean, and a great friendly atmosphere. Thankyou.

As soon as you walk in you feel really welcome. The interior design is very cosy. I only planned on having a light meal and went for loaded fries. My family went with hunters chicken. The quality and quantity of the meals were absolute value for money huge portions and so delicious.we then had the cherry and apple crumble which was amazing. We did have a minor hiccup but this did not change our opinion of the service and quality. The staff were extremely helpful and caring. I would definitely recommend and I will definitely come again. My grandfather really enjoyed the Spitfire ale.

Lovely pub, lovely Landlady, who was really friendly and welcoming. We were there after a funeral and the food put on by the team was absolutely brilliant, well thought out, there was something for everyone, really tasty. The pub was clean, well thought out in the terms of decor and had a nice atmosphere,regardless of the circumstances that took us there. If l lived locally (as l did once), then l would make it my local.

We booked a table for nine to enjoy a roast dinner after being at the crematorium. On arrival our drinks order was taken and we enjoyed a short wait outside in the sunshine whilst waiting for our table to be ready. Once our table was prepared we were called in and our starter and mains orders were taken. The starters came out in good time and were enjoyed by everyone. After a short wait the roasts were brought out and sadly they were not enjoyed by all. The potatoes, parsnips, stuffing and carrots were burnt. The meat however was lovely. We had one person that didn’t eat roast and was offered something from the children’s menu which they would do as a large meal. This person chose cheeseburger. When it arrived we were very disappointed to find this was also burnt/cremated! We called the waitress over and she was lovely!! Very apologetic and quickly got this changed. However, the second burger didn’t look very appetising, it seemed they were this time too scared they may burn it so didn’t leave it to cook long enough. We also made her aware of the issues with the roasts and she did offer to sort this but we said no due to the hassles of sending all foods back and hanging about even longer when many of us didn’t have the time. All in all a very disappointing meal!! When the bill was brought out the waitress had taken off the price of a full roast and the childs menu meal. We payed, not wanting to complain further as some members of the party already felt uncomfortable enough. A £10 tip was given to the waitress and we only hope that was able to go straight in her pocket as she was very good at her job and we hope we didn’t make her feel uncomfortable in any way as none of it was her fault. So the two stars are for this establishment but I would give the waitress 5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Best Sunday roast, as good as a home cooked one - all fresh ingredients, proper roast potatoes and delicious gravy, Emma was a brilliant waitress and did a tremendous service all by herself.

I'd highly recommend The White Horse, from the friendly welcome to the fantastic food and service. We've visited a few times recently and the food has consistently been high quality and delicious, and the atmosphere is terrific too. We'll definitely be returning soon.

Went for a meal with friends, ordered veggie lasagna and had to send it back as couldn't even cut it, it was hard and burnt then had to wait for a beef lasagna to be cooked to replace it. That was fine but put a bit of a damper on the evening.

Popped in on a stormy autumn day to find the pub fairly lively with a fair few diners Limited lunchtime menu but what they do , they do well . A few portions on the smaller side for our appetites but staff charming and service slow but understandable as the food is clearly cooked fresh to order . Will certainly return when they have a full menu

I went to the White Horse pub with my two adult son's for a 'Boys own' dinner I have been there a few times and always found the food very good. I usually go there with about 10 or 12 of our residents group from the local retirement community within walking distance on an irregular basis. Today was very different. We ordered some drinks and a bottle of wine from the young but very helpful waitress and after a while ordered our meals. Three steaks please, two without mushrooms and one without tomato's (mine) After a while the meals arrived and as I lifted the steak I saw the small group of tomato's on my plate. I spoke the the waitress and explained that I was allergic to tomato's and shouldn't try to eat the meal. The waitress very apologetic took it away and after about 15 minutes a replacement arrived. In the mean time my two son's had finished their meals. We had a beer each as we waited to start, a bottle of wine with the meal and a brandy each after the meal. A very apologetic waitress, but when I spoke to the owner about the meal I was told 'you had a replacement, what more do you want' in a strong voice. - I paid up and left. Promising never to go back and as Secretary of our 100+ residents group I will strongly advise our group to avoid the pub in the future.
