Lovely visit, food just delicious and staff are lovely

Very nice food Service was good All went fine until a dog tried eat my food . Should dogs be food is been served?!!

We were visiting the White Hart after we all travelled down to Halisham for a funeral. We stayed for a few drinks and all the staff were absolutely lovely and couldn’t recommend it enough if you are close by!

Discriminatory. Took one look at family and kids and refused. Kids gutted..wanted to watch a bit of footie. Shame that it's still like this eh

Attended my brother on law's wake here on Monday, everything was brilliant from the food, customer service, atmosphere even though it was a wake, Land lady was brilliant as it was a short notice arrangement, would highly recommend this place for all parties and get togethers Thank you all x

Currently open after 4pm and in the garden only. Thankfully it has a sizeable garden with a large cover available to have drinks under with patio heaters. Staff are very friendly as well as helpful. Dog friendly as well!

We visited the pub; our first pub experience since lockdown. We had a lovely welcome back!! A friendly smile and explanation of the new system in place. We felt comfortable and safe, in adition to enjoying our first pint of Harveys since March 😊 Well done White Hart & we wish you success.

First visit to this pub as I had a meeting there. Good selection of beers and nice food. The menu is not extensive which I like as what you get is well prepared and cooked. The building is old and as such has character.

Awful frozen food , horrendous interior and way overpriced

A very warm welcome from the host. Very helpful in seating us with a baby. Good knowledge of menu and helped us choose. Definately a place we will be returning to.

What has happened to this once great little pub. Popped in at the weekend. Everything has changed, we were told that the landlord has moved on and the so called landlady reluctantly served us then proceeded to spend the rest of the time on her mobile phone. We ordered a pint of Harvey’s and a glass of Merlot. The wine glass was filthy and the beer tasted like vinegar, we did not get chance to complain as no one was around. We left without any acknowledgement and went back swiftly to our local the six bells. Sadly until this place sorts itself out it will never be as good as it once was.

Very good village pub. Friendly staff. Good beer. Big TV if you like to watch sports like Rugby. Plenty of parking just across the road.

£1 away from £30 for a pint, a coke and 2 basic midday meals (sausage egg and chips and a chicken curry). Cheap frozen chips, and an inedible curry. Tough, dried out chicken with the bare minimum of curry sauce and popadoms with an oil pool in the middle. Avoid.

Basic pub. Loud pool table . Wine by the glad is served from small bottles tried all 3 whites none acceptable. Disappointing for wine drinkers.

A terrific welcome when we arrived, we were made to feel like one of the family. We participated in a meal of three curries cooked by members of the staff and at the end voted which we considered the best........all great fun.......plenty of food and seconds along with masses of pappadums, chutney and raita. Truly a place we will go back to for a meal.......drinks prices sensible and as I say the hospitality was superb. Many pubs could learn a lot from the White Hart

Oh my goodness, what a super place to visit. A welcoming greeting as we walked through the door, attentive service and lovely food. We went back the next day (Monday lunch) and although food was not officially being served sandwiches were offered. Add to that that a personal touch, ladies monthly bits, were in a basket free of charge. I mentioned how kind this was to the landlord who said it was his wife's idea. And how some people had just stolen the lot. Shame on those persons who would ruin such a kind thoughtful gesture to those of us to get caught short. All in all a really lovely pub to visit. We will be coming back soon!!! Xx

Very nice place and do lovely cheesey chips

I don't get this place. The food is average and over priced. They pretend they have decent wine when in fact it's just overpriced and poor quality. The staff aren't that friendly either. The thing is, people say "oohhh let's go to the White Hart, it's great" Then we go and noone enjoys it. This happens every time. Far better off, eating before you come and then enjoying a few drinks in the pub up the road. The décor is nice.

The food is excellent and nicely served without any rush to order. I took nephews and nieces there on two separate occasions and on both times it was the same with excellent service and food.

Was working in Hailsham but husband and dog met me for lunch break took me here what an amazing pub, food the best and staff and visitors the best couldn't ask for a more friendly place, only problem is I live in hastings so B&B would be perfect for a night out there and dog friendly , love this pub x 5 stars x

With out a shadow of doubt the most friendliest venue we have ever had the pleasure of visiting Made welcome from the second we opened the door Staff are top notch very accomadating the food is beyond any ones expectations for a local village pub Made chit chat with the locals gad some banter left with a full stomach and a smile on my face as did my guests It was that good we returned the following evening Yes it was as good if not better So glad we are working here again next week , guess I will be saying hello to the friendly staff and owners 100%. Fully recommended

Had a very enjoyable lunch there today,31/10/18,made even better by the very efficient young lady who served us.It was great to be served by someone with a sense of humour who took time to chat to us as well.Sorry I don't know her name only that she lives in Polegate.Thank you from the four of us who sat next to the fireplace.

Top pint, and the pub looks spotless

Called in this evening to avoid cooking as we have both had a busy day. The vegetarian choice was minimal, the service was slow and the quality of the food was substandard compared to previous visits. The staff were not at all friendly and there seemed to be a soure atmosphere. We will not be rushing back any time soon.

This was my second visit to the White Hart. The fist time was last winter, but now being summer I decided to eat my lunch out in their lovely beer garden. I had my heart set on a Sunday roast, and of the 3 options available I chose the roast beef with all the trimmings. It was a lovely meal, the meat was extremely tender, and the Yorkshire puddings were to die for. I chose a Cabernet Sauvignon to accompany my meal. I must say the food and wine is very reasonably priced, and the staff were extremely friendly and efficient. I will definitely be back.

Dropped in after a busy day at 1630hrs on the off chance of getting a table, the hostess made us feel very welcome and prepared a table for us that had just been vacated. We didn’t have to wait long for our meal although it was quite busy. I had the lamb shank with mash and veg. The meat was beautifully cooked and tasty as was the veg and plenty of it. The others had beef which they said was great and had plenty of gravy. There were lots of nice things on the menu and specials board. I would recommend you book. They do allow well behaved dogs in the bar, don’t know about the food seating area! We would like to visit again before we go home. The prices aren’t to bad. Overall a great traditional pub and obviously well patroned by the locals. Worth a visit if your in the area.

New venue for our car club, food excellent, staff attentive, will use again.

We turned up just after 4. 11 of us. 4 adults 7 kids. The staff couldn’t have been more welcoming. The food was ABSOLUTELY AMAZING. Everything was freshly cooked the roast potatoes were crispy and tasty. The puddings were moist and delicious. The gardens were brilliant for the kids to run off steam in and I can’t wait to come back here again. Would 100% recommend to anyone and everyone

After being disappointed by the Sunday lunch food offer in Hailsham (who wants a roast or carvery when it's 26°C?) We looked up this place while cycling the Cuckoo Trail. What a great pub! Loads of choice on the menu and Harveys beer to consume in the spacious garden. Room to safely store bikes through the side gate and very friendly and attentive staff.

Living in Eastbourne, a mere 6 miles away, I eat at this pub on a regular basis, along with one of my adult granddaughters. The reason we return so often is due to the extensive menu & top quality food. The Landlord is always most affable, as are the staff. Service is always quick & efficient & any special requests are handled speedily & efficiently, & always with a smile.!

Our mother's 90th birthday party was a fantastic success because of the wonderful efforts of Matt and his team. Held in a marquee in the garden, Matt dressed the tables and provided flowers and balloons - he even wore a suit to greet and attend the guests. The buffet food was fresh and really delicious and everyone was delighted with the event.

I live in Jersey, in the Channel Islands. We found this pub by accident.

We had a party of 7 including 2 children. Menu was simple and easy to read with some really great choices!!! As well as a specials board. Food was tasty, hot and well presented. Lovely atmosphere and the staff were friendly and polite and did an amazibg job accomadatiing is as we had some people with allergies and a wee fussy child!!! All in all a great meal. They also have parking opposite which was a great added bonus. Well worth a visit!!

We were with some friends from overseas and we needed to stop somewhere quickly and there were two pubs to chose from on the road . I was very pleased we chose this pub . We simply had a great well prepared meal . My son and his friend had a piping hot roast meal and they both said it was enjoyable . The adults food was excellent, the pies were amazing , all individually cooked , not Mass produced . Deserts were very high standard , the crumble being amazing . What a hidden gem , brilliant service . We eat out every week and holiday often in the uk and it’s wonderful to go somewhere which cares about its food , service and customers. I’ll be definitely visiting again from Mayfield, we simply need more places with traditional service and home cooking . Thank you .

Top Quality food for the money you pay and it's not expensive

Party of 9 (from 7 to 71 years old) having dinner here on Mother's Day, the food was of good quality with oodles of veg and heaps of extra gravy available, all piping hot and tasty. Value was excellent and the staff were great fun, very helpful and gave a personal service (using the kids names & having a laugh with us) - would definitely go back here - only comment would be the slight wait for the food (30-40mins), however it was mothers day and they were very busy.

Down from Lancashire for a wedding and got recommended this pub. We had steak & stilton pie with chips and veg. The substantial portion also came with extra gravy. This is possibly the best pie we've ever had, and from a pie eating northerner this is a big accolade. The local cask beer was well selected too. Overall we can't recommend this venue more... Don't miss out on this delicious food!

Some friends and I were visiting the area for the weekend and dropped in to this pub to watch a six nations game. What a treat. The pub had a lovely welcoming atmosphere and the landlord worked very hard the whole time, moving around tables and chairs so that as many people as possible could watch the game in comfort. There was also a great range of complimentary snacks laid on for the halftime break. Highly recommended for the quality and warmth of the service.

Happened upon this gem when visiting friends in Sussex and had the most wonderful food which was superb tasting and excellent in portion size! Welcoming host and a roaring fire, Ok it was a gas version but so effective welcoming and WARM. Will be going back when we are visiting again. B & A

Friendly place with pub atmosphere

First visit, not bad service but on visiting the ladies, no toilet roll, damp on the walls and hot water that is scalding straight after you turn it on... No warning sign for very hot water, dread to think what would happen to a childs hands with that heat.... Won't be returning!

We had a lovely meal on Saturday night. Roast beef was great with lots of vegetables. All really fresh. Steak with salad was cooked perfectly and salad was large, fresh and well presented. Service was friendly and no long waits. Would recommend and will definitely go again .

Our family group of 12 enjoyed a superb party at The White Hart during the run up to Christmas. Matt and all his team pulled out all the stops to ensure my wife’s 70th Celebrations were memorable. The food was second to none from their excellent Christmas menu but with changes willingly included for our grandchildren. Service was excellent from efficient and friendly staff and we cannot thank everyone enough. We will happily continue to support this lovely friendly pub throughout 2018.

The manager and staff were very welcoming and accommodating. We were seated and our drinks and food orders taken promptly. Our requests for swapping items on the menu were no problem at all and the veggie selection was both imaginative and tasty. A definite cut above the more familiar pub food. Portions were very generous and the desserts creative and delicious. Recommended by travelodge staff and only 5 mins walk from there (but take a torch if you're walking as it's not a well-lit route!).

We stumbled across this pub as we were staying in Horam and was not disappointed at all.

Very good food, very friendly and accommodating

This is a proper pub. Family run and very welcoming. The service was first class and the food was excellent. Well worth a visit, this is what all pubs should be.
