I was insulted and humiliated by the woman behind the bar, Julie. This isn't the first time we've had to deal with her cocky condescending attitude... Then when challenged on her disgusting attitude, she played the victim, to which her son, Tom (shift manager) came running over from his friends that were all stood drinking beer at 12.30pm, and kicked us all out. My parents of 70 years old, myself, my wife and toddler. Absolute disgrace!! She has absolutely no people skills. Having her on front of house, is a joke. All this escalated from politely asking for a cloth to wipe down our table, because it was grubby and wet from previous customers. I'll never go in there again....

Do yourself a favour - avoid. The place was dirty - only stayed because I was hungry and in a hurry. The tables were sticky, the cutlery was not clean and the toilets. There was chewing gum in the urinals and on the floor. . The food when it eventually arrived was far less than average. Unusal for a wetherspoons as they are usally a safe bet - but noticabley not a nice experience on this occasion

My expectations were low. My son persuaded me to go here and I'm glad he did. There was an awards beer on tap (it was so good I forget its name!) and it was fantastic - really fantastic!! cheap too. Food was fast and much better than I expected. It's certainly not "upmarket" but I go to see a lot of local Penzance folk letting their hair down on a Saturday night, had very passable and reasonably priced food with excellent beer at a remarkably low price - great VFM.

Went for breakfast today, to be told - no bacon!! Or, hash browns, or, scrambled egg on toast......even though they had sausage and egg muffins, so, had eggs in the kitchen - but couldnt make scrambled egg???? We had to have toast. After enquiring as to why Wetherspoons didnt have bacon and other items for their advertised breakfast, was given the excuse, due to lockdown and Covid (this is Cornwall in December) that deliveries never arrived.......what an absolute disappointment, wont be returning!!

They claim it’s meat but clearly vegetarian... place is dirty , no tables get cleaned . Not COVID safe

We ended up eating here on our first night in Penzance as due to a technical problem at our much anticipated fish restaurant and they had to cancel on us! It was a Monday night and quite a lot of pubs and businesses were closed. It’s a typical Spoons. You know what you’re getting. We both had burgers and were totally satisfied. We spent a fraction of what we would have done in the fish restaurant too, particularly since we were able to take advantage of the Eat Out offer. Bonus! No complaints from us.

Waited by the door as instructed for 20 mins but no one attended to us - woefully understaffed and packed with customers who in many cases were not worrying about social distancing. Long queuing for food and again no social distancing being observed when queuing at food counters. Not enough staff to ensure compliance with COVID and this packed, not very clean and happy eatery is not a safe COVID dining place - we left and felt unsafe to stay.

We visited this Wetherspoons at a busy time - around 6pm. Generally the service was efficient and friendly, quality of food was good and good value. However there was a general lack of organisation and cleaning due to low staffing levels. All the tables outside were dirty. We had to locate a member of staff and ask for our table to be cleaned. She came out and wiped ours down - but didn’t bother to wipe the others.

The whole place looks 100 times better and the staff were ok, some could do with a little more table training but behind the bar staff were good.(The staff on tables need tobe more closely monitored and to know not to come up on your first mouthful in passing and ask if your food is ok and they should not clear plates until the whole table has finished.)

Visited this pub for lunch whilst doing a sightseeing tour of the area whilst visiting St Ives on a short Holiday with relations living in the area My wife and I visited this pub on Sunday 17/11/2019 for lunch. I ordered lunch and drinks at the bar after my wife had found a free table. I got up to find and bring to the table some condiments, salt pepper ect but there was no salt, just then two Wetherspoon employee's one of them who looked as though he could have been the Manager as he had more badges and whistles on him than the other were nearby the condiments table, I politely asked him if he could find me some salt, his reply was that they had ran out of salt and were expecting a delivery tommorrow, I replied to him then why are Customers NOT been informed of this before ordering food from the bar?, he rudely turned on his heels and walked away without any explanation. I returned to my table to await our food arriving and watched several customers asking and searching for salt without success and judging by the look on their faces were not very happy, one Lady confronted him regarding the salt issue and was again given the same reply. 10 minutes later our food order arrived served by who else but the same tall blondish young man that I had spoken to previously, as he lay our food onto the table I suggested that there was a Tesco Extra and a Co op four or five doors away in the same street where he could buy two or three large tubs of salt for less than a £5.00 and keep the Customers happy, his reply to me with a big smirk on his face was ( You should have called into one of those before you come in here then ) I would suggest that management put him on a extended course of Customer Service before he costs your company a lot of money. The Two Stars Awarded reflect the Attitude of this man only and not the pub, the food or any other member of staff .

They did say thank you and I made a joke I could have had some of their food. One didn't get it and got a bit lairy. I mentioned it to the staff and they explained they may have used the App, gone for a fag etc. In fairness the staff were courteous, friendly and professional but I did not enjoy this visit to Wetherspoons on Market Jew Street, Penzance. Since editing this review I've learned that Penzance has quite a problem with substance abuse and homelessness leading to quite a seedy atmosphere in the evenings around this establishment.

Outraged if I’m honest. Me and a friend went for dinner at around half five in the evening. We are both 15 but didn’t realise we had to be 16. We ordered off the app and were waiting patiently when a worker there came up to us both, hands on the table lent close and rudely asked for ID. We kindly explained that we didn’t realise and asked if we could cancel the order. He snapped at us and said it has already been made and we need to eat it quickly and leave. His attitude was disgusting for no reason we didn’t even do anything. After storming into the kitchen he practically threw our food at us and when we asked about our drinks, he questioned if we had even ordered drinks as if we were lying. After sassily explaining he deals with the food he stormed off. All throughout the meal he was giving us looks and overall we felt judged and uncomfortable. I’ve never heard someone handle a customer so rudely and the experience was completely ruined. The food is nice there and usually one of my favourite places to go. Apparently the staff are different in the evening.

The quality of the food at the Penzance Wetherspoons is unquestionably good; a varied menu, good portions and well presented. Obviously it all tasted great too. But it seems that the Wetherspoons drive for efficiency just goes a bit beyond what their customers actually want. It also seems that some of the staff don't really know much about food and drink. I say this because on our first visit I asked for a bottle of Malbec (which is on the wine menu) and the bar lady did not know what Malbec was and thought that all the wine came out of a tap. This was not available so we had a great bottle of English Sparkling wine (Denbies) but to my horror we were given wine glasses instead of flutes. We ordered starters and mains and only waited about 5 minutes for them to be served - except the mains came out 10 seconds before the starters! After taking the mains back we ate our starters, but the staff were hovering about seemingly desperate for us to finish as the clock was ticking on their performance screen and our table had turned a red status. Eating in a restaurant is not just about filling your stomach; it is about enjoying the ambience, talking, drinking and eating the food at your own pace. Wetherspoons should ask if customers are in a hurry or if they are wanting to go at a slower pace.As I said at the beginning though , the food quality was great and value for money very good too.

The food arrived quite quickly, and it was of the usual excellent standard! Lots of families eating there, and I'd recommend it as a cheap place to take your brood. The staff were pleasant enough, although seemed quite stretched to cope with how busy it was.It did look a little tired in places, and could probably do with a facelift, especially the outside, which isn't that appealing to look at.

How distraught we were, the service, shocking, food, basically disgusting, ( we did eat most of it because we were so hungry) Person 1 and 2 - chicken and rib combo- chicken was anaemic and over cooked - ribs nuked in the microwave Person 3 - 3 small plates for 10£- chicken wings over cooked by 10-15 minutes tough, dry and tasteless apart from the oil- nachos had the thinnest grating of cheese that were nuked in the microwave. They tried to save it with massive dollops of salsa guacamole and sour creame- bbq chicken chips everything over cooked by 30 mins that again we get tried to save with a smattering of bbq sauce and thin grate of cheese In summary bland and tasteless, unless you smatter everything in sauce.Thank you and goodbye forever

most awful store ever, firstly, carpark full of abandon trollies. shelves full of empty boxes, if you remove the empty box you may find the item hidden behind, you need to climb the shelves to retrieve an item at the back of the top shelve, you will no doubt need to remove an empty box first, you need to get on your knees and remove an empty box to again retrieve the item you are looking for at the vey back of the shelve, chillers full of empty boxes, often empty boxed kicking around on the floor, never seen anything like it in my life, this store must loose thousand's in revenue due to shoppers not being able to see the item there are looking for. extremely poor management. I shopped at Aldi this week, saved about £30, shelves full, good quality food, friendly staff.
