The Towan Blystra in Cornwall, Isles of Scilly

A very busy and lively pub. The staff were helpful, the toilets were clean and well maintained. Nice cheap and cheerful pub just off the seafront and only a couple of minutes walk from the main town centre.

It is a Weatherspoons an it is cheap and cheerful as they always are this one was clean with a good atmosphere and some lovely views across to the sea . The toilets were well kept clean and odour free . Staff were polite and friendly and service was pretty quick considering the place was packed all in all a very pleasant all round experience would highly recommend an would use again

Brilliant. Can't find fault, and the prices are amazing. Two pints just short of £4.

THE WORST SPOONS IN CORNWALL! Probably ever actually! Usually with a Wetherspoons you kinda know what you are getting, and we always end up in a spoons somewhere in the UK. but this place is like ehhhhh!!! Stinks of damp, pissy carpet and there’s a massive blue plastic sheet over what looks like half the bar!!!??? A quarter of the bar is operational, none of the beers or ciders in an entire menu are available! The food, well of my good! Was disgusting!! The steak my partner had was inedible!? Nobody even came to clear the tables of give the courtesy of asking if everything was ok? So we had to complain via email as the bar didn’t even have a staff member at it! And it’s 21:09?!! Meals that are £16 each are a waste of money!?? Avoid this place and visit a different town!! As Newquay Wetherspoon is an embarrassment to the chain!

Probably one of the slowest Spoons you would visit, however still has the price point we all look for. Cheap drink cheap food don't expect anything more.

Basically ignored by the staff when trying to order. Things were better the next day.

One of my fav pubs in Newquay love coming in here when we come down on holiday,sometimes struggle to get a seat if it's a Thursday because of curry night.

It's a spoons and been in many of them and never had any problem. As a solo traveller, I don't like going up to the bar leaving my stuff, hence the reason I use the app. Very easy to use and drinks/food delivered to your table in minutes

Absolutely awful food & double the price of other weatherspoons I ordered the classic cheeseburger very very small portion & the burger was so overdone was unable to eat My partner had the mixed grill all the meat was like burnt out leather absolutely disgusting kids meals small and overpriced Atmosphere was 0 had an industrial carpet cleaner on the whole time next to us, zero customer service took over 30 minutes for our food to arrive…. Don’t recommend anyone spending money here

Decent price for decent food that's of the same quality you pay twice the price for at a normal restaurant

This unkempt individual with beard was loud and obnoxious throughout. He made more noise form behind the bar, than the entire pub. Inattentive service, could not be bothered to even pour a pint properly, as it continued to rant throughout lunch. At least Billy Bunter was not in. A shame, this pub was always 4 to 5 stars.

It's a spoons in Newquay. I occasionally pop in even in the hight of tourist season but I'm usually happy with the lack of panic. The staff are doing a top job. 👍

Visited several times during our recent trip to Newquay and Cornwall, (Also visited St Ives, Falmouth, Perranporth & Penzance Wetherspoons so good for market surveying!). Firstly the service and friendliness of all staff was very good- drinks came very quickly and well inside their 10 minute waiting allowance. Drink choice- being a real ale person was very good. I did have a breakfast but the egg was well over done - so not repeated again and didn't have any meals there. Layout and ambience of the Towan Blystra is very nice- well recommended throughout.

Great service of just ok food. Free refills on Tes or coffee is a nice touch

Ordered a steak, rare, I was served a well done piece of boot leather. I don't normally complain, I'm not good with confrontation, but today I had my big girl pants on. They rectified it, in the end it was really good! Staff seemed nice and the place was bouncing with people

I love Maisie! She made the night one to remember and even gave us a bin bag to be sick in (which didn’t stop my wasted friend cause she spewed on my bed anyway, that’s me losing my deposit on the house)… Honestly, what a legend! Her and her team made the night a dream! Thanks Maisie!! ❤️

I was here with two close, very drunk (at least one of them) friends and maisy, was an absolute legend. She was amazingly friendly even though my friend (very drunk) was trying to buy everyone drinks. Couldn’t thank her enough honestly!!

Very bad food this time. Everything that was ordered was not even Luke warm . It was cold the chips and chicken strips . Drink came out with ice . Despite ticking NO ice. Sent the food back to get hot food and sent the glass back with the ice in it . 5 mins later we got another meal. This time hot. We have vowed never to have another meal in any weatherspoons again. Someone needs to go and check on their establishments. Unannounced . Not prewarned

Friendly, safe atmosphere. Fish and chips was good value. My wife tried the ciders before choosing. Great to be able to order via the app-no delays in arriving.

Situated on the main street usual Wetherspoons, staff polite, friendly ordered breakfast came within a reasonable time looked appetising and tasted great good atmosphere but appeared to be more visitors than locals the toilets like most Wetherspoons up a flight of stairs didn't notice any disabled facilities or entrance to the pub, all on all a good visit

Good location. Staff pleasant . Drinks very cheap as you would expect . Food ok . Pub itself could do with a refurb. Upstairs the whole landing are and toilets smell really bad of urine which isn't great.

Great breakfast and can't really go wrong with a pint here,staff could do with a bit of training in pouring a pint of Guinness very bubblely on the Top of pint and should be smooth..I will check again and report back

Went here for breakfast one Tuesday morning, was a nice enough place, the food was really good and very well priced. The service was quick and staff very friendly.

It's a weatherspoons It was ok Not much to say except it was cheap and cheerful.

It was very busy here but when we arrived we were looking for a table for 5 of us we found full of glasses and plates I went to bar to order food and my wife asked 3 different members of staff if we could have the table cleared and cleaned the 1st said it wasn't there job to sort it I'm sure they could have notified someone instead of stood around doing nothing. It took about 20 minutes to have table cleared The food was ok it's a JDW so you know it's a fast turn Ive been to plenty all round the country you get a decent meal and a pint at a reasonable price

Good service and food went for a day trip. The weather was terrible such a nice place to chill out for the afternoon.

Came today very busy as you would expect. Can't fault the service and price of drinks. However food is more expensive than your normal spoons (depends what part of the country you are from) spoons is definitely loosing it's value on the food its just not worth the prices. Felt like tables was on top of each other. Would come back but only for a drinks.

Best spoons, the Korean chicken was new, not sticky and no sesame seeds at all so it was chicken nuggets with soy sauce and chilli's but it was edible and tasty.

Had a brilliant meal with family, good apart from a couple of issues. The first no working WiFi and the second no phone signal in the pub. So we had to keep going outside to order food. A bit of a pain to say the least. Saying that the staff were very helpful

Nipped into The Towan Blystra just for a drink. We'd been wandering for miles and what we desperately needed was a Wetherspoons pub to appear around the corner in order for us to get a cheap drink. As if by magic, The Towan Blystra was precisely where we wanted it, exactly when we needed it. And do you know what? It didn't disappoint. It sold cold drinks, we enjoyed one and then vanished into the Newquay sunshine. A perfectly respectable pub in nice surroundings.

Very pleasant had the vegetarian sausage muffin which was one of the best quality I have had in a Wetherspoons, service was quick with a smile. Unfortunately there was a festival so was rammed for multiple hours which caused a wait for the coffee machine. Also the toilets were very dirty we just went back to our hotel. Would cone again in a quieter time.

Visited this multiple times now, super clean, the staff are second to none and are the friendliest and helpful all the time. The service is incredibly fast, the Guinness is quality aswell. Probably my favourite Spoons in the UK.

Took 10mins to order as the bartender ignored me waiting as his priority was polishing glasses. Made me feel very unwelcome. Ordered some drinks and curry chips which came out almost unedible. So we just had drinks and left. No checkbacks or any1 to talk to about the chips we was served

Sparkling glassware. Very busy in the height of summer, but the team still worked well to ensure great service. Tables were in demand so naturally you sat down before anyone had chance to wipe them.

Tables were a bit backed up cleaning wise, but aside from that staff was lovely, food was nice and drinks came out quickly

Not been to a Weatherspoons since I lived in Cambridge. Staff at Towan Blystra were nice but food was expensive and small portions.

Great pint, nice food but rain made people flock to the pub which meant food orders took 25 mins

Meals surpassed expectations, ordered small portions of fish and chips,(what else at the seaside?) and the fish was the same size as a large portion in Leeds. I did check it was supposed to be a small fish and the waiter said Yes. It was so tasty. The chips were cooked just right and the peas were not like bullets as they are everywhere else. The waiting time was acceptable to say how busy they were and the staff never lost their sense of humour or helpfulness. I wish they could read this as I would recommend this wetherspoons above most of the restaurants I've visited.

Busy as expected but food is good value and service quick considering. Needed tidying up a bit but fine.

The meal was little not the best weatherspoon as torquay last year did not ask if I wanted sauces or did you enjoy the meal 🤔

We visited here for the weekend and came here to dine as soon as we arrived. It's cheap and cheerful, but the food wasn't great if I'm being honest. I had the chicken and chips and the chicken was very dry. I had to have a sip of my drink every bite I ate. Aside from this the staff were lovely and you could see they were immensely busy which often led to delays or something missing. Again not their fault considering the big volume of people frequenting here. They tried their best and that's good enough for me.

Love this pub, always have. Have stopped using it for breakfast as it repeatedly comes out cold. Although the staff are happy to sort it out, there are only so many times you can complain.

Popped in for a quick spot of lunch. I had a small all day brunch that was pretty standard quality but great value for money. Still quite tasty. My partner had small battered fish and chips and she thought it was nice and she really enjoyed it and fish tasted fresh. Mushy peas were forgotten on the plate however the staff were quick to bring some for her. Staff always friendly..we always pop here in newquay so will still be returning again.

I had a nice fish and chips, its not the best in newquay especially for the money but its most definitely not the worst!!. It was crisp and reasonably sized for the money spent.

Visited here a few times over the weekend. Breakfast is okay but would not eat dinner here again. Had pizza, vegetarian burger and fries between us. Just edible.The service was really quick, that was about the best thing. The worst thing about the place is the stench along the corridor to toilets. It's absolutely awful.
