Good bar but very busy, pleasant staff and good service. Sheppard's pie was excellent, Hunters chicken was dry and rubbery. Smokers/vaping at the entrance and with the door open the smoke was blowing back in. Drunks outside drinking?

Called in for lunch on Thursday 4th August 2022. We ordered the steak and ‘tribute’ ale pie, plus chips and peas. The pie was quite tasty and the chips were excellent. Staff were helpful and friendly and it was a bonus to be able to park the car in the pub car park and not having to pay for parking

If you could imagine partially cooked frozen veg and dry cheap cuts of meat and awful gravy you must have eaten in the Brunel recently too. The bar staff are quite obviously not happy to be there and let you know with there service. This used to be such a great pub but its been a dive now for years.

I went in to the Brunel inn with my partner for a last drink on our way home at the 11pm on may 1st. We ordered drinks and my partner went to the toilet, bar staff called my partner into the back bar where no one else was, accused him of saying something to someone behind the bar and started to try and body slam him. Another staff member came to join in. The staff were all on drugs and intimidating looking for a fight. We called the police, the bar staff had run away and couldn’t be questioned by the police. Stay away from this place it is run by people who take drugs and try to fight paying customers.

Thought we would try the carvery seeing as it's under new management (again) and we saw a review on Facebook saying it was 'delicious'. No idea what that person classes as bad food because this was disgusting. Bland food, rock hard veg, stale fudge cake and overly sour crumble. The custard tasted more like sugary scrambled egg than custard. It was Mother's Day too, so I'm glad I was only there with my other half instead of my mum, I would have been so disappointed. The staff were miserable, didn't take our order at the bar for 20 minutes because they were all too busy gossiping in the corner and none of them seemed to know how the carvery operated. Just poor service all round.

The pub has recently opened again just before another lockdown under new management. Been in a couple times for food and drinks and can't fault it at all. Staff are all really warm and welcoming, they can't do enough for you. The drinks are great. Several good largers and ciders on tap and a couple ales, plenty of choice of spirits and bottled beers. The food is also great, nicely priced along with big portion sizes. Would definitely recommend to anyone to go and try it out!!

Found soap from previous Person still in shower. skirtings were all grey with built up dust and grime. £65 for one night is very very overpriced. should not pay more than £30 and that is being generous.

I grew up in saltash, so have known and used the Brunel for many years. We stayed here on a Wednesday night while in town for a family event. The accommodation was comfortable and very clean. I suspect it has only very recently been finished and made available. The basics are all there, but it needs a few finishing touches. My only surprise was that you only get one key for the room and the outside entrance. My wife went back to the room early. I went back in what I thought was plenty of time to get in through the bar at just gone 2200, but the pub was all locked up and in darkness. I had to wake my wife up to come down and let me in. Two keys or some guidance would solve this. We also wondered where to leave our key in the morning, so ended up jut putting it on the bar. We then bumped into the manager outside and told him where it was. Having a key return box would solve this and might prevent us from leaving them somewhere not obvious or other guests taking them and our getting the blame. Otherwise it was a good central location and had everything we needed. I would certainly recommend it.

Visited a few weeks ago to find that the chefs had gone home two hours early. Visited this evening to find reduced menus on the tables & then informed that no food was being served at all. Some signage on the chalk board at least would serve as some warning when sitting down to a table. I cleared the menus away for them though don’t worry. 👍

Refurbished to a high standard last year, first visited shortly after it reopened and most impressed with the way it has been presented. Could have done without the three wall mounted televisions but appreciated the reason for them having to be there. Very much upmarket compared to the old place including the menu, which sadly did not seem suited to the clientele that may use the restaurant. Recently invited to join some friends for their Sunday Carvery, most impressed with the price, quality and presentation of the food, most commendable, only negative that as we were the first customers when they opened the carvery counter the food was all hot but the plates weren’t, minor niggle since remedied I believe. Quality of food excellent with a good choice of vegetables. The standard carvery was very reasonably priced and portions generous. Will be returning soon to try out their weekly day menu which contains popular meals again at sensible affordable prices. Beer and wine both competitively priced. A few tweaks here and there and a worthy contender to other nearby eating places.

after having prebooked our table we arrived to be seated in the restaurant half of the pub there was 14 of us (2 of these were chefs in their own rights dealing daily with numbers of 20 or more on their own) we selected our menu choice and then we were told they had run out of baked potatoes so chips all round. hurrah. we then sat waiting patiently i might add, for three quarters of an hour then the soup for 2 of us for starters arrived swiftly followed by all of the meals two of which had to be returned to the kitchen to be kept warm. by now absolutely starving we tucked in only to find the chips almost raw and the scampi luke warm and the fish cooked to extinction.. on expressing our displeasure to the landlord his nonchalant attitude was i quote 'ive given you free drink and a bottle of prosecco, which nobody could stomach it was like drinking vinegar. finally the meal was discounted and we left thoroughly disgruntled

My partner and I are at the time of writing currently staying in Saltash for a month, waiting for the next academic year to start. Needless to say, the town, whilst quiet and picturesque, isn't exactly a bustling metropolis at the best of times. So, given a month to kill, we decided to sample what Saltash has to offer in terms of food. Unfortunately, the Brunel seems completely incapable of offering even a tiny sample of this.

Great menu choice for vegetarians and gluten free and the chef comes out to chat to you We had two small dogs with us who spoilt rotten by the staff. This newly refurbished pub is now nice and clean with friendly staff when you can find them. It's been open a week and it's taken them 50 minutes to serve a simple But sandwich and chips. Looks like a good place but desperately need to organise their staff better. Having 1 person doing everything at lunchtime is simply ridiculous. People were asking for refunds or walking out -can you blame them!

It was an old, smelly, dirty run down pub. The owner did not seem to have a clue about anything. He forgot who we were 5 minutes after check in. We paid for a superior double room but on arrival our booking was questioned and eventually got told to choose between 3 rooms. One had people already in it, one was unmade dirty bed and a hover still in it. The 3rd was the best of a bad bunch but definitely not the superior double pictured on their website. It was also dirty and smelly with a visibly stained mattress, with stains showing through the sheets, we slept on top of bed as would not sleep in it. We asked for some tap water in the evening from the pub downstairs and got told to get it out of our bathroom sink tap. The room had coffee and tea bags but no kettle or any form of milk. The walls were marked all over and stained, our window had a crack down it which had duct tape over it, and the carpet was patchy and worn. The furnishings within the room were old bar stools and bar tables which were stained. The room was also full of cobwebs and spiders. The music from the pub below was so loud you couldn't hear each other in the room. In the morning there was no access to bar or any form of reception to check out in order to voice our complaints, we had to leave our key on the floor by the exit.

Heard this pub which is very local to me had a new landlord so popped in with my family for a drink. Ordered a pint of ale and 2 wines. First wine which was a chardonnay arrived looking like a half drank drink....dirty glass and very small amount. Second wine ordered was a large rose was fine, but amplified how awful first wine was, we asked the barmaid what measure the white wine was at it looked very small, she said that's all the chardonnay we have left, we asked I'd it was a full measure and if we were getting what we were charged for...she seemed fairly clueless and said it looks like a small to me...we paid the 10.30 for the three drinks as we aren't the type to cause a fuss but certainly will not be returning!

I highly recommend you do not stay at the brunnel inn in saltash. It is a run down, dirty old pub. When first arriving you had to pay for your room before viewing it which should have been a indication as to how bad this place actually was as normally you pay when you depart. When arriving in my room there was stained floors, very old broken furniture, rotten window seal and broken blinds, no matress protectors or pillows protectors which meant pillows and matress were badly stained. Had to resort to placing towels on the bed and pillows to protect our selves from germs. Only positive about this place was the towels they were clean. The bathroom had a broken split bath panel, hardly no toilet roll and shower head laying in the bath. If I could I would have given this place minus stars. The rooms are not fit for people to stay in.

I asked if they were serving food and the reply was I will be. Was not seated had to go sit somewhere in-between a leak and a falling ceiling (with a 1 year old in tow) after around 10mins had to ask when we could order food, to be told soon as the barmaid comes down from upstairs. Waiting... Still waiting... Barmaid arrives... Still no acknowledgement or courtesy telling us we could now order food. Finished our drinks and left. Found the staff to be rude and service appalling!
