West Park in Harrogate

Stopped off for Drunch .. late lunch early dinner as it was 1530 .. we had the set lunch menu which had plenty of options.. 2 courses for £18 each. Sat on the terrace with our dog. The food was excellent & freshly cooked with proper serviettes. Service excellent & the interior of the bar area was spotless as were the toilets.. which living in York to find all the above at such a great price is nigh on impossible. Would throughly recommend & will be going back. Wish the owners would open somewhere in York 😀

Complety terrible and cruel staff

We were seated at a nice round table in the window overlooking The Stray across the street in downtown Harrogate. The wine choices were just so-so and my Scallop and risotto dinner the same. My husband liked his seafood platter and the Sticky Toffee with Salted Caramel ice cream dessert was top notch! But the music was so LOUD! We asked them to turn it down as a speaker was near our table, but it was still too loud. It made it into a bar atmosphere instead of a nice upscale restaurant. Plus the choice of music was rock and screeching voices; not at all good for dinner dining. Thumbs down due to the music and we do love music but needs to be appropriate for dining and digestion.

A lovely place to stay with fantastic rooms and delicious food. Our room was spacious, had a view across to the park from a juliette balcony, a huge bed and a very nice bathroom with a bath big enough for 2! We ate at the restaurant downstairs, and it was difficult deciding on what to have because it all sounded so enticing. We were looked after by Ryanna (I hope I spelt your name right) and she was an absolute pleasure! From beginning to end we were given friendly and fun service which added so much to what was already a great evening. Thank you, you're a legend!!

We had booked brunch at the west park for my sisters special birthday booking a couple of months in advance. The booking process was great and everyone I spoke to was really helpful and informative. We had to amend our reservation to 12 noon and on doing so, I checked with the Manager that we could still have brunch at this time, to which I was told this was no problem. On arrival we were told by a surly male Manager that breakfast service stopped in 3 minutes. I explained that I had spoken to management on this and he showed us to our outdoor table. I then went to the ladies and checked with another female manager or waitress if this was ok to which she literally talked at me for a few minutes asking who l had spoken to when confirming the booking, was the person male or female and what was their name. She then went on to tell me next time that I should book for 11.45 am but they would honour what they had said and let us see the breakfast menu. I left the conversation feeling that a “telling off” on arriving for a special brunch was not a great start. On my return to our table from the ladies, the waitress or manager was telling her colleague all about our conversation - utterly unprofessional and again unwelcoming to gossip so blatantly about guests. On ordering coffees and food we were not asked about allergies. I asked for an Oat cappuccino and a dairy cappuccino arrived. With all of the news this week on this topic, this is such a basic but also could be a very serious mistake to make. The coffee was exchanged with no apology or acknowledgement of the error. The waitress or manager was not helpful nor welcoming in any way. The food was just delicious, the atmosphere was lovely and the restaurant inside looked gorgeous and was beautifully clean. The bill arrived with the service charge on which we were surprised by. A lovely place but so spoilt by service and staff who did not really make you feel comfortable, resulting in a disappointing experience overall. then went on to tell me next time to book for 11.45 am but they would honour what they had said. Located a stone throw from the town centre with plenty of parking. Rooms are immaculately clean with comfortable beds and lovely extras such as a robe and slippers and a coffee machine. I'm a regular guest staying on average 2 nights per month for business. The staff are friendly polite, and tremendously helpful. The restaurant has a lovely selection of meals and an ambient atmosphere. I wouldn't stay anywhere else in Harrogate. The West Park has everything I need for a pleasant stay.

Just had 3 nights at The West Park Hotel, the place is spotless and attended by very friendly staff, we only had breakfast while we was there and the quality of it was excellent. Parking in the multi storey round the corner was a bonus.

Very friendly staff, breakfast menu was good and the quality was excellent. Dog friendly are was ideal and we were made to feel very welcome.

My son had his wedding reception here on the 10th August and I couldn't rate it high enough.From the friendly staff, excellent food, lovely bedroom and function room and not forgetting the courtyard.The service could not have been better,just the perfect hotel for a wedding reception.

Hosted a party here a few months ago, service and food was superb cannot fault! Lovely setting just a short walk from the centre.

Had lunch here and it was very good.

We've always had a lovely time here and recommend it to our friends and family. We were horrified to find dried blood on our bed sheets, on an area of the bedding that had been tucked under the mattress. Housekeeping came to look and was very apologetic and agreed the blood was not from my husband and I. We felt so dirty that we immediately went to check out and the manager was extremely rude and said he found it hard to believe that the blood wasn't from us. Had he been more apologetic and polite I would not be writing this review.

Very posh and all waiter service

Great hotel in the heart of Harrogate, we arrived and were given an upgrade to the penthouse suite. What a treat and a great surprise making our stay even more special. We were there to celebrate my husbands birthday and we felt very spoilt. The suite was amazing, we loved having a separate living space to watch TV. The bathroom was amazing, the tv in the bathroom made it feel very luxurious. We had breakfast included in our rate and it was delicious. Will definitely return and would recommend to others.

Food was lovely... faultless in fact... decor and atmosphere was nice... only reason this review got 4 stars instead of 5 was due to the ginger lady who was rude unprofessional and a let down to the resteraunt. We questioned an issue with out drinks which she was arrogant and very rude. I will 100% go again but hope she isn't there. We spoke to the manager who was very professional and well mannered and he appoligised.

We recently stayed at the West Park Apartment Harrogate and could not have been more impressed by the accommodation. On arrival we were met by the lovely Kim on reception who gave us a warm welcome and was so helpful. The apartment itself is great, it's treated like its part of the hotel so room service can be ordered to the room. The rooms themselves are very modern and completed to a really high spec plus it's dog friendly. It has beautiful views over West Park, located perfectly for dog walks and is only a 5-10 minute walk into town. The hotel restaurant serves delicious food, has a nice dog friendly atmosphere and the staff couldn't be more helpful. We highly recommend this accommodation for anyone wanting to stay in a luxury apartment close to the town centre and would definitely stay here again.

My friend (bride to be) and I had the most wonderful time at the West Park Hotel in Harrogate. We stayed over the night before my friend’s wedding and were treated so incredible kindly. We felt very very spoiled. From a room upgrade to champagne and dessert on the house, to extra attention. We felt like Queens!!! Thank you to Ryanna, other restaurant and reception staff who were most welcoming and looked after us so well. Thank you for making our stay so special. Highly recommend!!!

We stayed for just one night and found the hotel room to be brilliantly clean, with a spacious bathroom. The staff were incredibly attentive from our arrival to our departure. The hotel's location was excellent, with a multi-story car park conveniently located around the corner at a reasonable price. We dined at the hotel and found the food to be exceptional, impressing both myself and my wife. Keep up the great work!

Great hotel to stay in and In a good location nice size room and a comfortable bed nice size shower which was a walk in one breakfast and evening meal were very good

We were visiting from Los Angeles and found the food to be excellent with first class service. One of the managers Mr. Lazlo was specially attentive and gracious. We will definitely return.

me and my partner were blown away by this hotel especially for how well priced it is. we paid for the double room, £71 a night and for that we got the most comfortable bed, a tv that had youtube/netflix on and your basic channels, your necessities, ironing board, and the most gorgeous bath ever !! i honestly did not want to leave and was so tempted to book another night 😂 the food the hotel serves is beautiful, the breakfast is good value! the sausages and bacon it comes with is very very good meat, we both ordered a poached egg and it was cooked to perfection me and my partner are big guiness lovers and i can safely say the guiness the hotel has is one of the best pints of it i’ve ever had :) absolutely obsessed the staff are SO lovely, and are so bloody accommodating and smiley! never without a smile on their face. we will definitely return and cannot wait to <3

We had an awesome Sunday lunch at West Park. The 2/3 course menu was excellent value, quality and presentation. As always, the staff and service were excellent and the atmosphere was great. The cocktail and wine list was also very good.

Lovely Sunday roast... Only complaint was where we were sat was right by the back entrance which was very draughty... The heaters were on the other side of the room... But we all enjoyed the meal and the staff were lovely.

Visited the hotel recently for a whisky tasting hosted by SMWS , Scottish Malt Whisky Society. It's a really lovely venue. Fabulous location along the main road opposite the park fields quite close to the town centre. Staff were all polite and professional. The decor inside was beautiful. The Whisky Tasting event was a great evening. I recommend it. There's parking along the main road in parking bays or down the street for free, 3 minutes walk away.

Great location overlooking West Park, comfy rooms, attentive service and good food. The bar was very lively and obviously very popular. Great place for a short stay, easy walk into the main parts of town. Recommended.

A beautiful spot in this beautiful town. The room was very comfortable, well equipped and immaculately clean. Food was tasty and reasonably priced. Service was exceptional. A great team, bringing it all together. Highly recommend and will definitely go back soon.

Very friendly staff. Loved they took our coats. They did get my order wrong but after a short wait got the right meal. My mum loved fact all food was on plate and not in separate dishes

Had a really nice stay here for 1 night. The room was clean,tidy, a good size, and comfortable. The bathroom was clean and modern and with a good pressure shower. The hotel is very clean and relaxed with a good, well stocked bar. All the staff we encountered were both friendly and helpful, especially Curtis, in the restaurant. Overall, it was an excellent place to stay in Harrogate, both close enough to the main shopping places and far enough away to be peaceful and quiet. Excellent value for bed and breakfast in a very good location.

Nice hotel, we had an issue with our room small room so were transferred to another room that was excellent. Meal was nice friendly staff. Location is great and parking next door.

We booked a family celebration and had one of the private rooms. We were a large party of 17, for our sons 18th birthday family meal, from the original booking to the evening, everything was managed and organised to perfection. I asked them to decorate the room for us, which looked amazing, the food and service was incredible, every dish presented beautifully and tasted sensational. This was our very first visit here, and we will definitely be back. Thank you to all the team at Westpark Hotel especially Angelika and Harun.

We stayed here for our anniversary and did the room, dinner & breakfast deal. Everything was outstanding from start to finish. The restaurant meal was one of the best we’ve ever had! Having the table in the window was so lovely and made it even more special, we’ve booked to go again January!

Very stylish decor, but a bit lacking in ambience, probably due to not very many diners. It was round the corner from our accommodation and we were pretty tired from a long day out. We did eat pretty late so perhaps that was why it felt as though it was about to close for the night. Having said that, the staff were very welcoming and professional. We had two cocktails which we were still only half-way through when the main course arrived (we had not ordered starters but prefer to consume our cocktails before our food). We both chose the Szechuan crusted pork fillet. Couldn't fault either the presentation, nor the taste which was fabulous. We also had a bottle of Joubert Chenin Blanc. All told the final bill came to £97.90, which we felt was a little on the expensive side for what we had. Another day we dropped in on our way home for a drink outside - on that occasion the (different) staff didn't show the same professionalism, overlooking some customers who waited quite a long time to order.

Fine dining establishment and boutique hotel. Staff seen to be a bit self-important. There's a multi-story carpark just around the corner. It's a very smart place.

I would like to say a special thank you to the lovely smiling receptionist who went out of her way to make our Ruby Wedding Anniversary very special. The ladies who brought me a TV from the meeting room so I could watch F1 thank you for everything. And all the staff for making it memorable, I'm sure they will remember us. Kind regards.

Really nice lunch, great service, good location

A gorgeous hotel...we have been visiting there for years...before lockdowns we used to go every Sunday for breakfast...but we still visit often for breakfast or lunch. Wonderful location, decor and ambiance. Have stayed overnight on 2 special occasions...rooms beautiful...maybe ready for a little TLC...

Great location and fitted out attractively shame about the food. To be honest it’s never been great but it’s usually acceptable and for us it’s very convenient as we live ver close. Our last two meals have been really awful, of particular note was a very grisly beef burger and the previous time very smelly skate wing, not off but old! The bar is a different story. There’s a very good selection of wines and somewhat unusually a few zero alcohol options options including a zero sparkling white, unfortunately a little on the sweet side, but some excellent zero gins made locally and served with fever-tree tonic. I’m pleased to see some restaurants and bars are starting to realise people sometimes want a grown up drink without the alcohol

We stayed at The West Park hotel, for one night, with our dog. The staff were all really friendly and helpful, we were all (including our dog) made to feel very welcome and comfortable. The food in the restaurant is outstanding and we were able to choose to either bring our dog down with us, or leave her to sleep in the room. The green space across the road is also fab. Overall a really lovely stay! Thank you

Nice boutique hotel in walking distance of station, conference centre and shops. Friendly staff and great breakfast staff did not mind us ordering nearly all the continental items and a cooked breakfast all great quality ingredients. Room comfortable and peaceful even though the hotel is on a main road. only disappointment was the tv not working in the room

Chris on the bar was great. He had superb product knowledge and the cocktails we had were amazing. He even did us a decaf espresso martini which was perfect. Room was lovely, clean and quiet. Loved it.

Very nice hotel. The room was clean and had a good-sized bathroom with a spa bath and separate walk-in shower and a larger than expected terrace. There was also a mini fridge in the room. Staff were very helpful. Would definitely stay here again.

We stayed here 16th / 18th June 2023 its 2nd time of staying here the room was fab yet again lovely comfy bed 2 great nites sleep towels so soft staff lovely Karen one of the managers is 100% credit to the hotel nothing to much trouble for even down to re booking our taxi which the recepionist booked 2 hrs earlier than we wanted only dissapointment was last day at breakfast arrived at 9.15 young lass took order never wrote it down so 45 min later still waiting how long does scrambelled eggs take and no juice brought either so when we asked she just said i go and check then 10 min later breakfast arrived no apology very unprofessional maybe more training needed we will stay again but will miss breakfast but all other staff were lovely no problems with bar staff they were great whole place it fab we will be back soon

Beautiful hotel in a prime location

We had a lovely window table overlooking the stray. Friendly helpful staff. As usual we had the excellent cheese soufflés to start with also a very tasty Korean chicken. We had a variety of main courses but the fish of the day ( cod ) was the star. Very pleasant surroundings with good service and excellent food.

Called in for the first time for lunch as we wanted to check it out for a future family event. Hadn't booked but managed to get a table, we were seated in the area near the bar. We were impressed by the decor. We were swiftly served and ordered the light lunch sandwiches with a side of chips. There was a large party including a few children sitting quite close to us who were very loud. A raucous group of drinkers at the bar and then a few dogs joined in barking. Have to say the acoustics are amazing in that room! Another couple were seated on the next table and they too commented on the noise, she said she would need an aspirin! This was their 2nd visit, their first had been good, and peaceful. On visiting the loo I noticed there were other quieter areas for dining, we would have had a better experience, why did he sit us the deafening bar?? The food was nice, the side salad was a bit salty, odd? Probably won't be returning.

The best night. Food amazing. The soufflé was so tasty. The blue cheese sauce was delicious. Asian style prawn cocktail was sublime. Mains of lamb and Szechwan pork were stunning. Service brilliant. Atmosphere buzzy with great music, a great Saturday night out. We finished with a rhubarb and sour berry cocktails which were divine!!

An enjoyable one night stay. but beware of zealous car park attendants patrolling the parking area out front! The room was great, which I had time to enjoy the lovely big bath, but all the facilities were good. The staff were helpful throughout.

I stay at the West Park every few months, its a well run, stylish and comfortable place with excellent food and service. There is literally nothing I can fault the staff on, after 2 years of visits I look forward to my UK trips and the welcome from the really professional team.

Ordered rump steak medium rare. It arrived later than our other diners dinners. It was cold and I mean cold and complained. The waitress said they could walm it up but I said if they walmed it up then the steak would be overdone! She said she would get another one. Yes she did but everything else had been put in the microwave even the rocket salad which ended like slime- who do they think they are? Do they think we are idiots. Would never recommend or eat there again. Such a shame as it’s local round the corner but maybe they are still making the most of tourists that won’t return!!

We used to love this place! Off and on my husband and I have been regulars here. We used to frequent weekly before our children were born and sadly now it's become once in a while. Even more sadder is how poor the food has become! We used to come for the steaks but our most recent meal was very lacking, rubbery meat, poor chips and accompanying items all charged extra for! What once was a 5 star establishment is sadly no more and it's a shame to say I don't think it's worst visiting anymore.

We booked for a family birthday. The restaurant is very nicely furnished and decorated. Staff are efficient, but perhaps forgetting to smile and be friendly. Sadly the food which was nicely presented was very average in taste and meat was tough. When considering the experience overall, the bill was way too expensive.

As a Harrogate resident, West Park is on a list of places we frequent. Often we have thought this is high end pub food. Tonight whilst out for our sons birthday (17), the cuisine for a clear notch above normal. The Steak and Ale pie (hand made on site) was spectacular. The venison haunch was (so I informed by boy and mum) was one of the best they have ever had (even better than the Box tree in Ilkley). Well done.

Very disappointed.this was a good and enjoyable Place to go for Sunday lunch,not anymore it has Gone down hill.the staff are not bothered about the customers and customer service didn't exist.i want be going back ever again

Visited as a party of 6 to celebrate my daughter’s 18th birthday. Firstly don’t get me wrong the waitress was polite and provided a great service, however……. Time to pay the bill, service charge added automatically which considering we could not obtain the drinks we wanted (sold out of bee) could not get the food we wanted (various dishes off the menu) felt a little high at 10%. Pay mistake paid the bill without noticing the charge, queried the charge with the waitress who advised that the front of house manager would have to deal with it. He eventually turned up and was confrontational from the outset, tried to pick a fight, claimed the charge was automatic not discretional ? He became aggressive with me in front of customers and involved them in the discussion to try and humiliate me. Then claimed I was being rude and refuses to deal with me and hid behind the bar. Absolute joke, he eventually graced me with his time and refunded the service charge. I felt he was hostile, aggressive intimidating and behaved like an arrogant schoolboy. Ruined the evening and I can say that in 32 years of visiting Harrogate restaurants, this was the most unpleasant experience I have encountered. My advice would be to give the place a go especially if you like being humiliated in front of your family. Goodness knows how he behaves with staff if he treats his paying customers this way
