The fish itself was lovely but because we arrived after finishing work the batter on the fish was brown as in the oil had been used all day and we arrived near closing so not a bad review just maybe our late arrival time

Very small piece of fish in thick dark brown batter about 2 mouthfulls for £6 .40 It must have changed hands as it used to be reasonably good .

Friendly service and the fish and chips were beautifully cooked and delicious.

Food was very decent - nice piece of haddock, enough chips and decent peas too! I sat in the restaurant bit and was asked what do I want to drink? I baulked at £2.55 for a can of coke, so went for the beer and then was asked if I want bread & butter, so I said 'no, I'll be fine' - I then looked and you should get a free tea/coffee and bread & butter with it! I'd have had the cuppa tea if I'd have known and the bread & butter was included? Felt a bit cheated TBH, but the food was good! 3* due to that.

Kept walking past this place and it always had a queue. Decided to give into temptation and pop in. I’m so glad I did. They offer some alcoholic drinks alongside your meal which was a pleasant surprise. Menu was clear, very well priced and everything came with tea/coffee and bread & butter. I elected for the cheeseburger meal. Was a bit confused when they asked if I wanted it battered (I declined), and they buttered the bun it came in, but still lovely. The chips were unreal, I would definitely go back and recommend.

Delicious gluten free fish and chips available on Monday and Wednesday nights. I’ve had gluten free fish and chips everywhere I come across it in the UK and this is one of the best. Eating gluten free fish and chips with Oliver’s delicious mushy peas and tea in an old fashioned cafe is an enjoyable and comforting experience. I only wish the gluten free option is available during lunch time as well. Incidentally, my husband is not gluten intolerant and he also enjoys his standard fish and chips so no sacrifices on his part for joining me on gluten free night.

Tasty fish and chips. Staff very friendly. Felt a little grubby inside, could do with a refurb. Staff looked a bit unkempt and scruffy for handling food, however, fish and chips were tasty. A little pricey compared to others and no better or worse. No reason not to go back, but equally I wouldn't rush to make it my regular.

Came in for battered sausage and chips and curry sauce to be told they don’t do battered sausage and don’t do curry sauce?? Surely not? I work near by and found it on just eat which had these items on the menu!

We ordered 2x cod and chips and 2x battered sausage and chips. All were very tasty and freshly prepared while we waited. Staff friendly, welcoming and efficient. Tasted fantastic too

Cosy, no nonsense, sit in chip shop. Sat by the window and enjoyed a delicious fish supper with tasty, crispy batter. Recommended!

Grubby and grimey! Fish was dreadful. I wonder when they last changed the cooking oil? Don't waste your money here.

One of the best fish and chips we have ever had. Great prices and lovely old school atmosphere. The lady serving was also really lovely and made us feel very welcome. Would love to come back here again and would really recommend.

Whenever I’m back in Harrogate from Oz, visiting Mum and family, I’ve got to savour fish & chips & mushy peas once again! There’s lots of good choices in Harrogate - but none are better than Oliver’s. Occasionally I’m unfaithful - but always return to the fold. Nowt better!!

6 friends went last Friday to Olivers and we had the specials, fantastic F+C, lovely moist white fish, very hot chips, great mushy peas and excellent service from Lisa.

Great spot for a good honest fish and chips. Or sausage, or pie... Really good service and Dan making you feel at ease. Well worth a visit.

Wow - stunning value for money! The fish and chips were first class as was the tea, bread and butter, and the mushy peas 😁 Getting in and out of the booths is challenging, especially after you've eaten 🥴 BTW there is a car park round the back (they told us after we'd been there a while) so you don't have to park on the street.

An honest to goodness fish & chip shop! Service was good and the menu just what you’d expect. I use the ‘sit in’ restaurant as a treat for family occasionally. I can’t often finish a portion of chips but in Oliver’s they’re absolutely perfect, side orders of mushy peas, curry sauce and a pot of tea are also great value for money.

Best fish and chips I've had in years. Good size portions, lovely chips. Sides of mushy peas and scraps are a must! Limited alcohol options, but don't care, I went for the food, not the drink. Waitress was kept busy but coped very well, was attentive and made no mistakes. Recommend you try it!!!

Ordered as a treat for hubby. The portion of chips was generous fish was good quality but we couldn't finish it. The meal was obviously fried in beef dripping which makes it too rich and heavy for our paletes so sadly it was a waste of money. Hubby also said the mushy peas had a funny taste.

If you want warmed up old cold chips this is the place to go. Olympic Gold in uneatable warmed up chips. Absolutely a rip off. Go elsewhere. You have been warned.

Chips arent bad. Very tight tight on portion size! If you want value for money, I'd go elsewhere! Many other decent chip shops around harrogate that give double the portion size for the money.

Best fish and chips I have eaten in a long while, crispy dry chips with perfectly cooked haddock. Staff down to earth happy to help people. Would visit again next time I am in town.

Amazing fish n chips, has gluten free too, which is a bonus. Spam fritters are great, and curry sauce is good too. Staff are really friendly and the service is great. It's really good value for money as well.

So my dad has been very ill recently so I thougut it would be a nice idea to take him to Olivers Fish and Chips on Cold Bath Road to cheer him up a little bit. The woman that was providing our service, was blunt and rude. She slapped glasses on the table, and complained about how we were “wasting” her time when all we did was ask for our drinks. She was blantenly rude and disrespectful. I just wanted to have a nice time with my dad and it was spoilt by some ignorant woman.

We were three fellas staying away for work - out looking for some good food. We stumbled across this place and thought it a real “blast from the past “! Unpretentious, inviting with an aroma reminding me of fish and chips that my gran used to make. We weren’t disappointed , a basic table with all the condiments you need - Haddock & chips with a spam fritter, cooked to perfection ( loved the spam fritter ). Served and looked after by a lovely lady, very friendly. Excellent value as well. This place reminded me that posh & expensive isn’t always the way to go. Basic, honest, well prepared - what a gem of a place 🙂

We went here yesterday whilst we were in Harrogate for a pest product exhibition. The food was amazing with spam fritters that took me back to being a young lady in junior school (I’m now 50!) 😜😜 The lady that served us our meal was friendly and welcoming and we thoroughly enjoyed our visit here and would highly recommend

Delicious fish and chips but very annoying the portions are smaller when ordering via Deliveroo vs takeaway in person. I'd expect to get a similar portion size given it's a few quid more expensive than in the shop.

It was my first time trying Olivers .. Nice chips and mushy peas.. Friendly staff.. However the regular fish was very.. very small. I'd say like.. any other "normal" reg fish but halved straight down the middle.. Length ways . Just a heads up.

Popped in to the restaurant last week with a good selection of food and drinks for a reasonable price with the portions being spot-on with the right amount of fish and chips for a portion.The waitress that served us was very friendly and was very polite and attentive.

We were staying in small b&b about half a mile away but as it was a very cold and frosty night rang Oliver’s for a delivery , no problem they said and will ring you when on the way. Perfect timing and to cap it the food was among the best fish and chips we have had.

Had fish and chips takeaway to eat in the car before heading back to Stoke-on-Trent, absolutely fried to perfection.

Oh dear, I feel like I've just been ripped off....ordered fish, chips, sausages, spam fritters through just eat.....probably the worst food I have ever had and cost me £35!! The batter was burnt and could not cut through it!, the fish was over cooked and the size of a sprat (all batter) the chips where scarce and tasted odd. the cans of pop was the best part. Certainly won't be using them again, and will have to Bob in so what's going on there, as used to be nice??!!

Got the order wrong, even after I repeated myself several times and corrected it. Scuddy tiny little piece of fish for the price of 6oz of beluga caviar. Atmosphere? It's a fish and chip shop, it has no atmosphere.

Always delicious, hot fish and chips..have visited many times inside the restaurant since 2005 with friends and family..... During covid ordered deliveries. Always excellent... However, Had an issue with just eat driver's strange actions recently.. . I have a peephole in my door so witnessed her behaviour. She seemed to think it very funny! Gossiping with my neighbour who I haven't even met!! However, restaurant believed her story so they cancelled my next order!! As I say, very disappointed after my support over so many years.

Visited this place for the first time after reading good online reviews. It did not disappoint! The food was absolutely wonderful and well cooked and the service was very friendly. It took a little while for our order to arrive but I would rather wait longer and have it taste better than be rushed. Would definitely recommend this place to others.

Looking forward to my fish and chip this evening was disappointing the batter wasn't fluffy and light infact it was dark and horrible. service could have been more welcoming. should have taken a picture I'm not going again.

Bought a portion of fish and chips this evening. After one taste of the rubbery fish batter and semi warm soggy chips , the lot went in the bin. Maybe Sunday night is not the night . Bought proper chips elsewhere.

I came to visit a few days ago with my client who was in a wheelchair. Even though the restaurant did not have wheelchair access the staff were amazing and helped me in and out of the restaurant. I was not expecting staff to go out of their way for me and I really appreciate their kindness. The food was brilliant and the pricing was great. Will be definitely visiting again. Thankyou again

This is a nice fish and chip shop. The restaurant is a little dated but meticulously clean and the service is very friendly. The fish and chips I had were excellent.

Lovely experience! We came here after a long walk over the reservoirs. They were so friendly and welcoming, got the dog some water and made a fuss of her. The food as fab & portions so generous. I’d highly recommend Oliver’s, will definitely be coming back next time we are in Yorkshire.

I love this place, I'm not from Harrogate but have been a few times over the last 4 or 5 years. The food is always good and the staff are excellent. There's was very helpful attentive lady that was working there during our last visit and I can't praise her or the experience enough. Excellent!

Best chippy I know. Usually eat in. Beer, wine or pot of tea. Great food. What's not to like.
