Lovely meal at the Wellington Inn last night. Good choice of specials, reasonably priced and good sized portions. Lovely views from a welcoming, clean restaurant. So nice to visit a place where the staff are happy and efficient and everybody seems to care about about the customer's experience. Have visited so many pubs recently where everyone seems to have lost the will to work, so this was a refreshing change. Well done and keep up the good work.

A warmly lit, welcoming dining room on a poor drizzly evening. Service was smiley, friendly & efficient. Food just lovely with a blackboard full of ‘specials’, evidently this changes regularly and has many seasonal dishes included. Gluten free diet well catered for which was a real plus. We enjoyed mussels in a great liquor and Hoi sin belly pork salad, beautifully tender lamb rump, fish pie, a delightful & generous cheeseboard with 2 cheeses (less than £6), and a seasonal apple & mixed berry crumble with custard. Lots of menu ingredients are sourced locally. Decent wine & beer choices, the blush rose perfect with the lamb. A nice buzz in the place, really enjoyed it.

We were staying close by overnight before Christmas. We were recommended The Wellington Inn as somewhere to eat at lunchtime. We arrived at 1pm 4 days before Xmas Day with no booking. We were warmly welcomed and shown into the 'Snug', a cosy room with an open fire. We ordered our drinks and food which came very promptly. The steak & ale pie was piping hot and delicious, thin crispy pastry on top. The gammon & egg was equally as good. Service was exceptional despite it being extemely busy. Everyone was cheerful, friendly and attentive. Could not fault anything, would thoroughly recommend and will definitely return when we are in the area again. Update, July 2024 Have just returned to The Wellington and the service & food was as good as our previous visit. Thoroughly recommend

We have been here several times and no complaints.Tonight was totally different,in the dining area we settled down for a nice quiet meal when all of a sudden children started screaming and I mean screaming, this went on for over half a hour and people started to feel uncomfortable. The parents had no control over the children. The young waitress asked if our meal was ok I told her everything was fine except for the screaming of the kids she apologised for the noise but it was not her fault. It would have been nice if the manager had had a word with the parents about the noise but didn’t bother, will think twice about going back.

Out for the day and decided to call at The Wellington Inn at Darley near Harrogate, can't claim to be a regular as it must be 30 years since I was last there but today was the first visit for the Missus. Ordered the drinks at the bar and then found a table to look at the menu. The menu was fine with a decent mix of dishes to suit most tastes and there was a chalkboard with some Specials listed. We opted for the table menu and I decided to have the Calamari for a starter, even though I thought it was a little pricey. As it turned out it was a good portion and then it didn't seem too bad. Nice dish and it came with a salad garnish, dip and lemon wedge. Mrs had the Hummus with pitta breads, also very nice. For the Main course we both decided on the Steak and Ale Pie. Wife had hers with new potatoes and peas and I had mine with Chips and peas. The pies came in good sized individual round dishes with fresh crusty tops and loaded with meat and an ale gravy, we didn't really need the rather large gravy boat that came with the meal but at some places I would happily have killed for one. My chips were great and the only comment from herself was that she could have done with another potato as there was too much pie filling. In all a really pleasant meal in a really nice olde world pub. Staff were very nice and pleasant and efficient. On the next table to us, a young lady was sat at the lap top obviously working at the pub and we could not help hear how She dealt with customers making bookings for meals and also rooms. She never looked anything but calm and collected an it was a pleasure to hear her dealing with Joe Public a such a charming and professional way (made me want to stay there) Back to business in hand, Food, service and staff were all great, the outside area looked fab and by the way the bookings were coming in the future looks rosy for them. Price, two starters, two mains and one pint of lager and a J2O. just over fifty six quid, I'm not going to whinge at that (just won three hundred quid on Premium Bonds ha ha) joking apart we will be going back, win or not, Give it a try, you'll be glad you did

We stayed overnight at this hotel and although the room was ok the menu for evening meal was very disappointing & very pretentious we thought we would be offered ‘pub grub’ but it was overpriced fine dining which really didn’t suit the type accommodation my husband has several food intolerances non of which they catered for so it was very difficult to find anything to eat all he really wanted was egg & chips ! If you decide to stay here I would recommend to make alternative arrangements for dinner & breakfast was nothing to write home about very little choice although it is included in the night price

We visited yesterday for lunch. What a waste of time and money. We had the prawn and red-fish curry; three prawns, very sparse fish, tough cold pitta, dry, tasteless rice. This was so disappointing. No-one came near to ask how the food was at all, and when the plates were collected we told the waitress (politely) that we were unhappy with the food. She shrugged her shoulders. That was it. We have been before and it's always been a bit hit and miss. This time it was a miss, so that's what we'll give it in future. There are plenty of other local places to eat, which are much better.

Visited the Wellington inn Friday 20th December. All great apart from? I’m not a lover of the shared vegetable platter when you order a meal at any restaurant. From 6 people 3 ordered the Christmas meal, Turkey etc. The shared veg plate arrived for the 3 Christmas lunches that was sparse but your never sure how much you should take? Sprouts show the true amount that are allocated for you and I love sprouts so to my disappointment we had 6! I’m sure the explanation would be I could have asked for more but why should I have too? So on reflection, how much are vegetables and why as always am I thinking next time I’ll go to a pub/Restaurant that doesn’t give you a shared veg platter. It’s a shame because the food and service was great. I just don’t think 2 Sprouts are what I expected when I order a Christmas lunch.

Having returned late from holiday we popped on to our local for our evening meal. It is the first time we have eaten there since the new manager took over and there is a great improvement in the restaurant and décor. There are new tables and chairs which are clean, comfortable and welcoming. There was just the manager and one waitress to cover the restaurant and bar areas, as a result of which the service ranged from slow to non-existent and this was a pity as the food was good, the menu choice adequate and the drinks selection excellent. The staff (both of them) were friendly and helpful. Portion sizes were huge and a little over facing, but delicious and well prepared. We'll definitely be eating there again, as it's our nearest restaurant, but I sincerely hope that the service problem is addressed soon as it is a deterrent to choosing to go there.

We have been going here when we holiday in the area .approx 11 years, has always been lovely, but unfortunately it wasn’t today,we went for a Friday lunchtime approx,1.00 pm,there wasn’t a sole in there, that should have told us something. ,we had the squid to start with ,that was nice ,my husband had the fish and chips, the chips were amazing, the fish a bit too well done and greasy I had gammon and egg, the piece iOf gammon, was very small, and so chewy and fatty ( never had a piece of gammon like that before),the eggs were rock hard and very well done, onion rings were very greasy ,we did complain, and they knocked £6 off the bill,we won’t be returning here again

Ate dinner here recently on a Friday night. Cajun whitebait for starter was very nice, followed by a Barnsley chop. Unfortunately, although good quality, the chop was probably the smallest I've had, with most of the room on the plate being taken up by three enormous, greasy onion rings, a large mushroom and a whole tomato. Dessert was the cheese board, which was very good, and it was nice to get a good portion of crackers. Service was very good, and the views out of the restaurant were great, but unfortunately it was very quiet for a Friday night, and the restaurant area lacked ambience.

We recently spent a long weekend in Darley and booked the Wellington Inn for the Saturday night, as our cottage was just down the road. It’s a lovely old pub, but we were sat in the back corner of the rather soulless dining room, which was a little disappointing. Three of us literally found ourselves facing a bare wall; there wasn’t a single photo or painting on it. Thankfully, the food made up for the lack of decor and atmosphere. Everything was very tasty and generously portioned. The onion rings on my mixed grill were enormous! The real ales were also very nice: I enjoyed a pint of both the Black Sheep and Timothy Taylor.

Miles from Harrogate. Rooms left me feeling I was in a mediocre BnB, however the food was good and staff caring. Do go and eat there.

We visited this pub for lunch on Sunday. On arrival we were pointed to a table and I went to order drinks at the bar.The barman was chuntering a bucketful and spent more time grumbling about a pump being out of order and not being able to find any menus than he did serving and did a good job ignoring me.That didn't bode well.So anyway we ordered our food after a ten minute wait.We then waited another good half hour for it to arrive. My roast chicken was served with just a yorkshire pudding and no trimmings (no stuffing?) and was sitting in watery gravy. To be honest it looked like it had been zapped in the microwave. My partners steak pie was passable but not exceptional. Another ordered pork which was again mediocre and came with no trimmings.Another ordered beef which he described as ok.However the side of vegetables that were included as part of the 4 main meals was served rock hard and undercooked.I know that Al dente is the fashion but at least show them some kind of heat. One of us happened to look under the bench which had all kinds of detritus under it, so the floor could do with a good clean.Unimpressed and disappointed with both your overall standards of service and your food.

Visited for a wedding, wow it is amazing, beautiful scenery, beautiful building. The ceremony was amazing and ran very smoothly. The canopies tasted fantastic with the evening buffet also was extremely tasty. All staff were polite and helpful. All in all a 10/10

I had a birthday party here on Saturday, staff couldn’t have been more helpful they let me get there an hour and half earlier to set up some decorations, they set up all the tables for me already, let my bring my own speaker, very fast service bringing down all the drinks, we stayed past closing time and no one even bothered us because we were having so much fun 🙈, special mention to Hannah for organising so much and Oliver for clearing up after us, I will be back to host more parties xx

Premier league chef , 2nd division service. I’ve never ever felt the need to write a review but feel the need this time . Ok, succinctly. Food - excellent , top notch . Sunday lunch was sublime . Service - When you have to stand up whilst still eating to go to the bar to ask for another drink then something is wrong. The bins in the urinals were so overflowing that there were dirty tissues all over the floor. There were large areas of dried urine all over the tiled floor - the toilets hadn’t been attended to in a long while. Three tables eating and one of which had finished yet it still took over thirty minutes for two desserts to arrive - excuse … ‘The kitchen is really busy’ . It isn’t though, is it ? Look around the decor and see weeks of dust and dirt and crumbs and god knows what down the back of the seats . This place serves excellent food and the chef is clearly talented but the management and staff are letting him down. Complete lack of hygiene standards , attention to details and basic customer service . Annoying … because the food is so nice .
