Nice spot for a drink, bar staff very attentive & helpful.

Very busy pub and liked the decor of the place. Quick and efficient service and the two young girls that waited on us were very friendly. The pork sandwiches were pretty average and shame the fat chips were the frozen variety but probably our expectations were set too high. Not the sort of place for an evening dining experience but a great selection of drinks.?

If you're visiting Herrogate I would say this is a must see place to see and try. The Scotch Egg was great. I tried several different dishes however the ox Sheppard pie was the best. I also loved Sticky Toffee here.

Great menu. Great food. Great presentation of food. Great service (no rushing of orders or hard sell of drinks etc). Restaurant area has comfortable seats and tables are generously spaced out - no bumping other dining guests etc. Came back here a year after our first time and the service and food was still great as ever - they even gave us a little anniversary offer too which was unexpected, but greatly appreciated! Thank you so much! We will visit you again when we're up this way again!!

Dirty glass, and the place stunk of fish

Nice atmosphere, nice interior. Unfortunately, the service and the food were a bit disappointing. Saturday night we went there for starters and cocktails, had no complaints. But Sunday night they made a mistake with our order, that caused our food to arrive late and at different times. One of us started eating earlier while the other person had to wait. Cauliflower cheese dish arrived cold. Apple crumble was very sour. The whole dinner lasted maybe more than 2 hours. All we wanted was just to enjoy our dinner and go rest after a long day. Not sure if we will be going back there...

Stayed in hotel what a pleasure it was to have one of the best pubs about just downstairs from my room although didn't eat here it looked nice

nice atmosphere for drinks and food with friends, however I found the elderly bar manager with the colourful top to be extremely rude and inappropriate with frequent sarky remarks when dealing with him.

Go twice a year food always spot on.

Managed to nab a seat on the terrace (dog friendly) during a gorgeous late-summer evening (August 2024) and really enjoyed the buzz inside as well as the view outside. Fantastic selection of local beers on tap and several non-alcohol options as well. The food was standard fare but not what we expected, though not bad. Looking forward to returning and sitting inside during cooler months.

Only been here twice and every time staff have gone out of their way to point out areas to explore as newbies, serve as quick as possible when the bar was busy, came out to clean the tables when it needed it, walked all the way down to the end of the road to find me a table out of the sun as I was struggling. So far I have had wonderful experiences with the staff who are friendly, have great communication skills and go out of their way to help. That’s for four of the staff at Fat Badger and another on reception of the hotel entrance. Thank you it means a lot it is noticed and we can’t wait to come again.

Early lunch, great service friendly staff and great value ..

The setting was really lovely & the staff were great, but room was unbearable hot. The food was really disappointing, quite bland and very average. I expected a lot more.

We visited Harrogate with another couple for my 60th birthday. In the afternoon we called into the bar for a drink. The bar both inside and outside where the large seating area is was very impressive. The decor is beautiful and very individual. There was a great selection of beers served in their correct glasses and the cocktails were properly made and well presented. We noticed people dining in the bar area and the food looked great. That evening we decided last minute to see if we could get a table as a walk up and were lucky enough to get in the charming restaurant. Three of us had the ribeye steak which was lean, well seasoned and delicious. The other one of us had pancetta wrapped cod which was equally impressive. The service was excellent and we will definitely be back.

A great place in the middle of Harrogate

A very nice bar set in a hotel, plenty of seats inside & out.I felt the drinks we purchased were expensive.

We have visited the Fat Badger on several occasions now for Sunday lunch and we have consistently had a fabulous meal each time. There is the option to have 2 or 3 courses from the Sunday lunch menu as well as other choices off the normal menu. It is always extremely busy and as they serve food later than many other establishments it is always advisable to book if you want to be sure of getting a table! There is normally a choice of three roast meats. The roast beef has been consistently good and it can be served pink if that is how you like it. The food has always been served hot and with plenty of fresh vegetables. A big shout out to Steve, the head chef, as the Sunday lunches have always been great. The service has been fantastic and nothing has been too much trouble. The staff are always wanting to provide a brilliant dining experience and a big thank you to Michal the manager and Polina who always goes the extra mile. I can thoroughly recommend the Fat Badger for Sunday lunch if you are a local or just visiting Harrogate.

Beautiful bar, with outside seating, fantastic atmosphere day and night. Wine, IPA'S and cocktails are fabulous. Outside seating at night is light up and very cosy with patio heaters and blankets, if needed. Wonderful experience.

Stopped here for a quick bite and a drink. I had the eight hour ox cheek & mushroom pie which was very tasty.

What a great place. Top class food. Friendly, attentive staff and very good value for money. Absolute quality. 2 course Sunday roast for two with drinks £73. Spot on. Will be back.

I thought we were visiting an upmarket Wetherspoons as the bar was so busy for a Thursday night, I was pleasantly surprised with the food, it was first class!👍

The shepherds pie is amazing. The service was good, but didn't know that it was ordere at the bar style. 🤔 For the time I was there "high trafic" it was well ran. Love the decor, a bit of English story book.

Booked for Sunday roast, the food was nice until I found a hair which I politely informed the waitress who seemed quite unconcerned which makes me wonder if this was a regular occurance? Needless to say, we didn't stay for dessert ........R.I.P. customer service

We are three older ladies on an afternoon adventure and we saw the Fat Badger as we were looking for a parking space. It was a very warm day and whilst there was seating available outside, we chose to sit inside because the location is on a very busy road with a small pavement separating the tables from the traffic. A table was found for us and we chose our dishes before ordering at the bar. The food is typical pub/bistro fare. I chose a burger which came with fries and salad decorations. It was nice. One of my friends had a lamb pie which she declared to be wonderful. My other friend chose a steak pie with truffle mash. Again, it got the thumbs up. The atmosphere was informal and unhurried. I did notice we could have had lobster for £37!! Maybe next time. Average meal is around £30 for two courses plus drinks.

Refused service by a very rude young women with brown hair and tattoos, showed my id of which I am 19 years old she said there’s is no hologram which there is, and then I order to show other forms of id to prove and she said I’m not serving you so very disappointing because I have been going there for a year straight now.

Came here for sunday lunch and food was delicious... good value, good quality and a brilliant time had... Deserts were amazing as well

Lovely place and such a nice ambience. Would recommend to all 💕 plus we didnt eat so couldnt give 5 * for that but bet its fab too just staying for the weekend in hotel and room is fabulous. Loving it xx

Never had any food here so cannot comment on it . The service was good if slow because of lack of staff , the staff that were there were friendly , polite and nice .. The atmosphere was pleasant and a lot of people were sitting on the outside tables because of the nice weather . A nice selection of drinks were available from the bar .

Food was fantastic. Lovely setting in a great place, Harrogate is a beautiful town with lots to see.

The staff where lovely, decided to treat myself to the fish and for 26 pounds I got, some lovely fish but close to 0 veg and literally one potato cut up to try and be fancy but one single boiled potato. With all the fanciness and ambience and paying that much for a meal. I expect to be at least a little full by the end of it. Dissappointed as my friends dig into sandwiches, half the price and with more sides. Wanted to treat myself…left needing some peanuts from the bar to at least feel like I had a meal-didn’t risk buying them though as feared the price

We were staying at The White Hart, always drop on to the Fat Badger, nice place to chill in or outside, staff always pleasant and helpful, recommended. Talking of staff a massive thank you to Jackson T who found my wallet outside and returned it through the mail and saved a lot of phone calls, thank you

A little disappointing! The menu and food are good, the table and dining room were great, just let down by the service. We received our mains - or at least the meat & potato but the ‘panache’ of vegetables were forgotten - we didn’t start our food expecting the vegetables to arrive imminently. Sadly I had to ask twice before they arrived by which time the food on our plates was cold. It was a shame as the meat was well cooked and tasty, though I’m sure it would have been even better when it was hot. No apology was made which dented our experience overall.

Fine spot to get a drink and a nibble.

We occupied the private dining room as a group of 12. All the food came out together and was piping hot.

Lovely spot to sit out in the sun (sun at last) with friends and little doggy. Pint of beer from Kirkstall Brewery was spot on. We had a delicious Fish Butty with a side of chups. The Butty was pretty big!!

A spur of the moment visit to The Fat Badger in Harrogate, it was quite quiet when we went - which suited us, lovely seats and decor- drinks are quite expensive- but we expected this- so again , no problem. Overall- a lovely place to have a drink.

We stayed at the Fat Badger for 2 nights. The room was very clean and comfortable. The down side was the security gaurd followed me and my partner even when we went to the toilets. I would choose another hotel on the next visit to lovely Harrogare.

The building and the decoration is amazing. Lovely atmosphere. Really liked the way it looked inside. Staff were great; friendly, helpful and attentive but not pushy and didn't check in too much. Food was fantastic! Everything was cooked just right! Portion sizes were good. Good gluten free options. Left feeling full and content. Not somewhere we could afford to go every week but not too expensive either. Definitely will be back. Lots of the menu that I'd like to try.

Called in for a drink on a busy Friday evening , the bar area was very busy!! Expected a while to wait for drinks but would just like to say you have the most efficient bar staff we have ever seen!! Unbelievably efficient, quick and hardworking!

Great menu choices. Real classic food. I had the ox cheek and mushroom pie which was spot on!

Excellent food and service.We had the Sunday set menu 3 course for £30pp,the choice was varied and the quality was superb.Nice clean restaurant/Bar with very friendly staff.Well worth a visit.

Good selection of drinks and staff really friendly. Good amount of indoor seating and outdoor seating with heat lamps.

Staff were lovely however the food was very poor. Had fish and chips. The batter was very brown and over cooked so the fish was dry inside. The waiter was very accomodating and said he would take £10 off the bill. Such a shame was looking forward to eating there. Lovely secret garden but won't be eating there again

Had a lovely Sunday lunch great atmosphere staff friendly and helpful. Beef was beautiful and we were asked how we liked it cooked. Yorkshire pudding spot on . Veg aldente not to mine or wife's liking. But it's worth a visit

Beautiful steak meal for my birthday

We had two courses from the Sunday set menu. The beef roast was amazing with plenty of meat and a giant Yorkshire pudding. Service was fast and friendly. Very happy.

Visited for lunch on Tuesday. Beer garden on the side was lovely, a few beers and food was amazing and very reasonably priced. £9.95 for a sandwich may sound expensive but very filling, great side salad and could tell very fresh

We had a beef and pork dinner, plenty of meat and just the right amount of veg. Huge Yorkshire pudding were a credit to the chef! Our food was piping hot and service was good.

Enjoyed a wonderful birthday lunch. The food was great - mine a lovely shepherds pie, the nicest I’ve had and my friend buttermilk chicken which looked amazing. Great atmosphere. Great service - Luke you looked after us so well. Thank you Fat Badger we will be back!

Had a lovely meal in the restaurant last night for our 30th Wedding anniversary. The food was delicious and the service was very good. We will be back ☺️

Recommended on a dog friendly website so bit disappointed when we got there to see dogs only outside. No problem nice sunny day so took a seat. Had to get my own menu from bar and note my table for the order, all felt a bit a bit ‘spoons” to me.. my be having an off day but guy behind the bar was quite rude. Other staff, waiter and waitress lovely.. we have been staying in a five star hotel outside of Harrogate and food was cheaper there. Food was ok but I think I expected more, maybe my issue.

Has Chateaubriand. But miffed at paying £3.50 for a sauce after paying £70 for a pound of steak but hey ho.

The food was lovely as was the restaurant. Newly refurbished and full of life. The staff took a bit of time to serve us and weren’t overly attentive however the location, price and decor were exceptional.

Great food at slightly higher than average prices. All service at the bar where they lock away your card and give you a key to retrieve your card to pay the bill. A very large selection of cask beers. Very clean

Great place. Fabulous food and reasonably priced. Thank you! Only suggestion would be to say on the menu that the king prawns are battered as I wouldn’t expect that in a taco and not a fan of battered prawns, so wouldn’t have ordered had I know. But will definitely be back! ☺️

Food good main room was a little dark but if you are stopping over don't stop in room 413 advertised as double Delux but has separate bathroom outside of room also room is getting tiered

Busy pub with great food. Good beer and serving staff. Eclectic decor.

Fell below expectations after having a great experience at the York Branch. Starters of duck as well as the vegan tacos was nice. The Chateaubriand simply had little flavour. Peppercorn sauce also lacked flavour and was far to runny. Side order of peas were average at best. The mushroom was very nice, as we're the chunky chips. However the deserts were excellent. Service by the young man was attentive and helped make up for the meal falling below my expectations.

Decent food but need to improve the service. Lovely venue and nice atmosphere but the bar man was rude, asked for a fanta or tango, they just didnt do either which was fine, was offered san pelligrino or has he called it “Tory Fanta”, not the smartest comment given where the restaurant is, definitely felt like he had a chip on his shoulder. The food was nice but the service was slow. Asked for extra gravy and condiments and had to go up and ask again as they took that long we’d nearly finished the mains which was disappointing. It felt like they were too busy and couldn’t keep up as we heard the table next to us complain about the wait too. It’s a shame as we’d really looked forward to our visit and had heard great things

I had dinner there with my family, we all loved the food, the service was very good, attentive but not over done. The restaurant decor is a relaxing colonial style which added to the whole experience. Loved it, will go again next time we're in the area.

We visited the bar during our stay at the hotel. Lovely pub. Plenty of seating, great decor and buzzing atmosphere. Great find.

The minute we walked through the door I remembered why we’d stopped dining here. From the Maître d’ we got a surly “Have you booked??” (we had). No ‘good evening’ or ‘hello’. Marched by his young side-kick to the side room which is clearly reserved for people with children - it was like a crèche. We were 4 adults . Tables in this room are very squashed together. We asked if we could switch to one of the other tables for 4. Answer “No, they’re all booked”. (this turned out to be a lie) and then, “this is where we’ve put you”. We were shocked at the rudeness of staff and being treated as second class citizens. We eat regularly in the ‘pub’ of The Fat Badger, which is a great place (albeit very crowded ) but unfortunately one cannot reserve a table there. Having said that, the food was very good and our young German waiter was lovely (he should be running a course on Politeness for the rest of the staff) .
