Sat on the beach on a sunny evening enjoying superb tapas was amazing. Great experience and gorgeous well prepared food. It’s a typical beach hut but can turn out delicious food and should not be missed if you are staying, visiting, or living in Budleigh Salterton.

If you want expensive dishwater americano coffee then this is the place for you. New owners but the coffee is awful and you used to get China mugs. Now it's over 3 quid and a polystyrene receptacle. Nice view, but you can get similar views and cheaper coffee at alternative venues along the beach. We are local so never going there again

I am a regular visitor to Budleigh Salterton in the summer months and frequently have something to eat and drink from the west end kiosk….I realise that there is a cost of living crisis at the moment but the menu changes made and the exorbitant price hikes will most definitely deter me from purchasing anything from the kiosk ever again….£2.75 for a cup of tea and nearly £7 just for a bagel….I’m sorry but I just can not justify spending that 😔

After a long coastal walk, we stopped for lunch. Chose toasted bagels to be told too busy for any more orders (they werent that busy, wait until the holidaymakets arrive), so we chose pasties. Two of our party are strict vegetarian and were given chicken & chorizo pasties, not the cheese ones ordered. Even worse, absolutely no apology from staff when this was brought to their attention Very very poor

The coastal path brought me to the beach where I saw this place’s welcoming flag. My ‘dogs’ were barking so it was nice to have a place with outdoor seating where I could take off the boots and socks without offending anyone. Some benches on the stones and a couple of small tables on the paving beside the kiosk. The friendly owner was running a limited menu but obliged me with a tasty halloumi and sweet chilli bagel - thanks! Food reasonably priced but soft drinks seemed steep, but it’s a lovely location by the beach so it felt worth it. Friendly owners

All it took was for one lady to order two cappuccinos and the queues really stacked up. Think something was mentioned about the coffee machine, but that was overheard and not advised. Lovely setting and the food was good, but I imagine this absolute hell in the summer. We visited at the start of October and so I'd be willing to concede that it was off-season and maybe they'd been taken by surprise a bit. Pricy but the best of the options available.

We called here today for one of the advertised all day breakfast, how I wish we didnt. For two breakfasts and two teas it was over £16. When the first one came out, I was so shocked at the size abn appearance of it. I had to ask for the second one to have the bacon cooked a bit more as it was practically raw. The second plate was not much better. The eggs are only cooked on the parts that touch the pan even though they were covered in grease, the bacon could have been revived by a good vet and so streaky. The hash browns, oh lord they were awful and plonked on the top was half a raw tomato. The only thing we ate was the bread and beans, no idea why it isnt toast with the breakfast. Drinking my tea we noticed how the tea was sticking to the mug as though it was a not very clean mug to start wtih. It was so bad that even my hubby wouldnt eat it,and we just left it and went.I wouldnt recommend this place and wish I had read the reviews on here before we went there.

We visited Budleigh Salterton and were delighted with it's 'untouched' seaside feel, boats on the beach and lots of the community out for a jaunt along the beach. Wanting a nice cuppa we opted to sit on the beach as it was a stupendous day, hoping to find a little gem we came across a frightful woman and awful food! When asked what the breakfast consisted of she replied 'whatever I can find to put in it', then she asked if I wanted white or brown bread with the breakfast, I asked was it toasted, to which she replied 'no, bread'. I said I wouldn't have the bread, but she preceded to charge me the same price - it was unquestionably the worst breakfast I have ever had. Having said I didn't want bread, I may as well have had it as the sausage was white. What a shame, this could be such a lovely spot and the fact that I visited in October should have no bearing on what I was dished up.Also, when the food is ready the women serving shout out of the hatch, clearly those who are seated to the side of the hatch can't hear, the first time this happened I got up and let the customers know, the woman serving saw me do this but gave no thanks. The second time I did not assist, but heard the awful woman, after she had shouted out once, say 'I'm not calling again, I've had enough of that'.

If you are looking for a lovely place to sit and have an ice cream and cold drink, this place will be fine for you. However if you want food, seriously DON'T EAT here. I ordered the full breakfast, paid £6.50 for it. It consisted of 2 of the smallest eggs I've ever seen fried solid, 2 pieces of badly cooked bacon (you can taste the old oil and crispy bits from past frying) a tablespoon of watery baked beans, the cheapest sausage you can buy (meat content about 10% I'd guess!), a spoonful of TINNED (yes, tinned) lukewarm, briney mushrooms and something that resembled a hash brown which was undercooked, soggy and had a slightly green tinge to it. It came with a piece of dry white bread, not toasted. The other food we ordered (ham sandwich and egg and bacon roll) were ok but not great and still pricey for what you got, but my breakfast was terrible. I should have complained there and then but the lady was scary and the beach packed so didn't want to take her on! Beware, the food is very overpriced, you're served the cheapest ingredients and I'm still struggling to understand how you can get a cooked breakfast so wrong. Walk a little further on for better beachside cafes or pop into the town for much, much better fayre that won't cost a bomb and leave you feeling queasy. Totally regret our (expensive) visit here to the West End Cafe.

My poor dog got yelled at (not even nicely asked) as his two front paws were on the table - this is the table that stands outside 24/7 and was literally covered in seagull poo so goodness knows why they told him off! Perhaps they didn't want him catching anything! We then ordered two items things for lunch - one came out wrong (and cold), and the other came out 20 mins later by which time my partner had eaten his. It was only a cheese toastie (an expensive one at that!) Well, it wasn't even that, it was just a bit of cheese slapped between two warm bits of bread - not even toasted.Never again!

Really nice little cafe right on the back of the pebble beach at the base of Steamer Steps.Had quite a few cups of tea and crab sandwiches here over the years. The staff are friendly and the service is prompt. All sandwiches are made to order as is the tea so when it's a hot sunny day it takes a bit longer as you must expect. The cafe is seasonal and is closed in the winter. It is a daytime cafe serving visitors to the beach. Last time we went we had a tea with scones and jam and cream. Loved it. Many of the questions below ask about cuisine and what type of restaurant it is. To clarify it is a timber built snack bar on a beach. There are tables and chairs on the pebble beach and it's great but it isn't a pub or a restaurant.

Obviously, being on the beach in the sunshine is a big plus, but even if the weather is indifferent I would still come here. This is a very basic but good cafe right on the beach. It has amazing views. I visited with a friend this morning with our dog. The steps down there are a bit difficult if you have mobility problems and the handrail is a bit low, but I managed it with a walking stick. The short distance over the pebbles to the seats was a bit dicey too, but I made it. It was worth it. We had a mug of coffee and a toasted teacake which was delicious. We met a Scottish couple there and it was also their first time. They had a cooked breakfast which looked and smelt delicious. They said they thoroughly enjoyed it. The only good thing about this place is the parking, because no one is ever there. Poor service, poor food, poor attitude. Would never recommend!

Had Posh Nosh buffet at a wedding I attended and it was excellent. Plenty of food served buffest style for a more relaxed wedding meal. Food was very fresh with local ingredients and suited every dietary requirement and preference. canapé's before were excellent as well and served very elegantly. the leftovers were also brought out later on in the evening to avoid food waste and provided a good evening snack. cooked fresh on the premise as well with the team working hard throughout the whole day. Highly recommend (can only speak as a guest though).
