Wells Beach Cafe in North Norfolk

Nice enough cafe at the beautiful Wells beach. Plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. Popular place on a Sunday. Odd though that although they advertised they could do alternative milks to dairy when I asked for an oat milk hot chocolate they couldn’t do one as the hot choc came from a machine loaded with dairy powder. That said our drinks were fine. The beach is stunning and with a captive audience this cafe could be so much more.

Still amazing, great range of food and drinks, perfect for a break from the sun or the long walk from the town, staff are always friendly and welcoming.

Well, I was looking forward to this visit, following on FB I just had to take the family for breakfast before the beach. However, I was most disappointed. For starters, there was no clear pricing or menus. Then, it was self service, you pick a roll or a bap and can have bacon, sausage or both. You add your sauces. . No option of butter and all on paper plates. They don’t do plastic bottles of water so we had an aluminium bottle, which I agree with in principle. . Until it came to the till. Lastly, they were only serving basic tea or coffee, again paper cups. . So, for 4 breakfast cobs, 2 water, one tea, one coffee and a Fanta = £40.20p I was flabbergasted, we could have had an all day breakfast for that with actual plates and service. For a place which is so self serve and no washing up, it was very over priced. Saving grace was that the sausage was very nice. . And I’m sure locally sourced. Also, not directly the cafe, but the Carpark gets full, parking in wells cost £5 and the little old bus cost £6 EW (you can walk if able, I can’t) Just a shame for our seasides in the uk to be so expensive

I couldn’t not post a photo of my £5 ice cream from this little ice cream establishment opposite the Wells beach cafe (same management) literally laughable.. without the flake and sauce? Same price.. £20 spent for a family of 4?!? They should shout stand and deliver as they rob you, the women behind us properly kicked off, this was not a one off

Very expensive, very good staff, clean, considering your being served a takeaway cup for drinks, it is very expensive…..down in Brixham a lot cheaper, and as for bacon/ sausage baps well over priced.. and self service!!!!

£10 for 4 cans of coke!!! They might as well put a sign over the door saying local working families not welcome. The prices are obscene. I've read the normal reply about increasing costs ect but other local business don't seem to be quite so greedy. There are many more resonably priced places to eat in the area.

Very overpriced. £7.50 for 3 cans of pop and £5 for a sausage roll. How to rip people off. Won’t be returning. No iced coffee either at this time of year.

Used the Beach Cafe twice after beach / forest walks was impressed on both occasions. Clean and bright, a good selection of food and drinks and the staff were plentiful and efficient. We did not have to queue on either visit and easily got a table but it was November and I suspect that it would be somewhat busier in the main summer months. It was clearly very popular with both people and dogs and we enjoyed both visits.

Absolutely ridiculous prices. I’m not sure how anywhere can justify the amount they charge here especially when it is all self service. We live in Kent and work in London so are used to high prices but nothing there compares to this. Nearly £5 for a sausage roll is obscene and just greedy. Everything is pre packed etc and tables were all uncleared and dirty

Friendly staff and lovely decor, delightfully dog-friendly. Food was nice but not outstanding. However, the prices are shocking! £4.50 for a vegan sausage roll, for example. The fly problem which is identified in previous posts has not been solved, and this may partly be due to the fact that when we visited trays had been replaced in the stack unwiped and unclean, meaning each one we picked up was smeared with crumbs. Similarly there were crumbs all over every free table. I really want to love this cafe but it trades on its location - any price can be charged and any standard of cleanliness achieved because customers have no alternative next to the beach. A real shame.

How anyone in this day and age can make an undrinkable black Americano - what is there to go wrong? Just push the espresso button and add hot water - using a barista machine is beyond me. It was so bitter and horrid I couldn’t drink it. Even diluting it with (a lot) of cold water didn’t work. I had to leave it. Extremely disappointing given the rest of their produce is good quality. Either the machine needs calibrating or the coffee they use is just rubbish. Extremely disappointed. Walked to Holkham Hall afterward and, because it’s the same company, I had a soft drink instead. Wasn’t going to risk another.

We used to visit frequently after walking the dogs but now the prices have gone up in the past 3/4 weeks I’m not sure we will be back. I cannot think why the puppacino is now £2.25?! It’s ridiculous and too pricey unfortunately. The coffee this time was lukewarm. The only plus being the new benches and more of them!

Used to love popping in here for coffee and a sausage roll...what's happened? Prices are overpriced...staff are gloomy...no smile or hello...dirty table and bench...I had to wipe it myself...3.75 for a bottle of water...poor selection for children..recycling boxes were overflowing and it wasn't busy so no excuse... Came with a friend and our children today and promised them a treat from the café after a beach walk. We used to love the vegan sausage rolls but now at a shocking £4.25 each I put them back after seeing the price. Nearly £10 for two VEGAN sausage rolls. I’m incredulous. So I went to the Pom bears instead and at £1.50 for 1 small bag (the same price as a multipack) we were so disgusted we walked out. I could just about stomach £3.75 a few weeks ago but these prices are now so obscene I can’t believe it. What a shame as I used to support this cafe frequently. I don’t fancy remortgaging so I won’t be back. Priced out of my own county!

Despite the cafe being very busy ( midday 12 Nov) both inside and out nobody from the staff had bothered to wipe clean the outdoor tables! The wet was due to a early morning shower and should have been dried for the many people that purchased drinks and food in the cafe. Lack of management care from a business that typifies the greedy Holkham estate. And why not a 1 hour dog walkers tariff in the car park instead of the expensive 2 hour minimum??

Having spent about £70 there within the week,perhaps not a lot for some people but still a good amount I was absolutely disgusted to be charged 20p for a half cup of tap water!!Everyone knows how much things have gone up ,but honestly was that really necessary?We are regular visitors to Wells but will not be in a hurry to visit the cafe again,

A good range of hot and cold food and drinks, as well as snacks. Nicely decorated inside and plenty of seats outside. The dog was allowed inside and there were plenty of water bowls for them.

This cafe is ideally situated for the beach and car park. It was my first visit. Plenty of seating outside and some inside too. The food is pricey and it felt like you were I McDonald's as there was bins there for you to empty your tray but paying a lot more. All the time I was there I was watching 2 male members of staff. One kept running his hands through his hair all the time and rubbing his arms and the other one was rubbing his face a lot. Not a good look when you are serving drinks etc. Breakfast tea was ok

Nice place for refreshments, great parking and right net to fascinating lifeboat building. Well worth a visit if you're on a walk on just want to rest a while

We had a tea, a mocha and a hot chocolate. The tea was fine, the hot chocolate was watery and tasteless and the mocha was just a coffee with added bonus of a dead fly! Very expensive compared to other places locally. Friendly staff.

My partner bought me a falafel salad with sweet chilli dip to eat on the beach and it was amazing! Now we’re back home those falafel balls are all I can think about!

Plenty of seating outside where we managed to get a table straight away and very nice food, generous portions as well. I had the tuna sandwich and unlike other places there was plenty of tuna in the roll. Kids loved the little box of food...

This is a great cafe and the food is brilliant too. Lots of choice and the hot pasties and sausage rolls, bacon sandwiches are a bonus to take to the beach. Love it.

Even when busy this café is so efficient. I like their cleaning system of turning over a card to tell others the table has been used but not yet cleaned, if showing a tick the table is ready for you.

Stopped for lunch on Monday after our cycle. The lady on the door was fantastic organising the queue to be COVID secure and ensuring hand sanitisation. The cafe is spotlessly clean and food really fresh. It is clearly very well managed. Well done!

This is such a lovely welcoming and friendly cafe with the most delicious selection of breakfast and lunches on offer! Highly recommend a visit when in Wells! Lovely place to stop before or after a nice long coastal walk.

When visiting Wells beach the last thing you want is to have to drag back to town for a coffee and/or sandwich. Go to the beach cafe. I can thoroughly recommend their Beef and Vegetable pasty, although it is a little light on the filling.
