I had lunch with my elderly parents today. My father enjoyed his sausage but my fish pie filling wasn’t nice and some of the fish didn’t taste fresh, the mash topping was nice but the filling was a poor attempt at what can be a lovely tasty dish. My mum had the beer battered fish and chips. The beer batter was overpowering to the fish and tasted like the oil was old. I tried some of my mums and agreed with her. It’s two years since I have eaten here and it was a disappointment.

Positive surprises in travel are so rewarding. We decided on a whim to have lunch in the pub this the beautiful little village of Warham. The staff are friendly and helpful, there is plenty of parking (we have a motorhome so this is important for us). We had a great lunch and especially enjoyed the venison pie and red wine … home made and so tasty. A great surprise in the countryside

Stayed 3 nights and could not have been happier. Lovely pub with many traditional features, extensive outdoor area and a very good menu. The pies in particular were really tasty. The room was so comfortable, particularly the bed, and the bathroom vast with a wonderful large claw footed bath. Fiona and her team looked after us so well - very friendly and efficient. We highly recommend the Three Horseshoes.

Wonderful welcome, all staff we encountered were very friendly and helpful. Room was lovely, comfortable beds, great shower. Lovely fresh cooked breakfast. The meals in the evening were lovely, especially liked the chicken, leek and bacon pie. Could not fault our 4 night stay.

The pies are sensational, staff very good, prices fair, dog friendly. The building and garden are both beautiful. It's always lovely, word of mouth is big in these parts and great pubs not that plentiful, so people come from far and wide. They also have rooms/cabins, and are in a very quiet spot, so their guests are often eating in, daytime or evening. This means they are often fully booked even when you assume it will be a quiet time. We rarely visit without seeing stunned visitors turned away, who assumed they would be fine, the latest ones had undertaken a 5 mile walk to get there, but not thought to book ahead. Oops! Tip - don't message them, ring to book, and if you leave a phone message don't assume they will get to it before you get there! Well done, and see you again soon!

We stayed at the pub and had not booked dinner. On check in we were informed the restaurant was fully booked. Drama, and a big set back for us having been on a day long journey. Staff did not deal with situation well, were self righteous and openly talked their frustrated customer down as rude in front of us. We worked through this and the manager stepped in to facilitate this. In the end there was space in the restaurant and the meal was outstanding. The pie in particular amazing. The pub knowing the restaurant is in high demand make a little more effort to let guests staying at the pub know a booking is needed and should even allocate some tables for guests. Stopping orders at 8pm was also a strange decision given the capacity issues.

Everything here was terrific. We stayed one night and had dinner and breakfast. The room was spotlessly clean with a comfortable bed and a very good large shower. We loved the decor. WiFi strong. We slept with a window open and had a cool breeze, and it was perfectly quiet despite being over the street—could only hear lovely birds in the morning. One easy set of steps for me to climb with an injured ankle. No problem. The dinner of pies was delicious. No “soggy bottoms.” I had the steak and ale and my husband the lamb. We both thought the steak and ale was the better of the two. Vegetables plentiful and not overcooked. The staff is extraordinary—so pleasant at every stage f our stay. There was a very noisy group of 8 in the dining area—so noisy we could not hear each other across the table. We were reseated immediately. Dog friendly. The full English breakfast was one of the best we have had. We wish wr hot sausage like we were served back in the states. The breakfast held us to dinner easily, it was part of our room rate. Plenty of parking.

The food live up to expectations and sum .... Yes indeedy . If you like a pie 🥧 you will love ❤️ these . Uptiou and yummy 😋 😍 I had chips with it. When I requested gravy to accompany it I was not frowned upon. Nothing was any trouble. Great staff team . No headless chickens but alot of fun. If you are looking for an alternative to the Mad Pace of Wells next to the Sea . Do not miss this hidden gem ✨️ The new accommodation is of a high standard finish 👌 and has been added sympathetically to blend in with the extremely high standard of the main building. Menu pricing very reasonable compared to Wells. I will definitely return when next in the area. Yup it is possible in England to get good food, great service, and leave with a warm glow. Thank you 😊

The staff were by far some of the friendliest and most welcoming I have met and the place itself was clean and lovely internally and externally. Concerning the food, my family travelled down 1 hour to see me to have to wait 30 minutes between starters and main. My son and myself had the crispy squid. It was like strips of batter no calamari/fish inside, then 30 minutes later my mum and dad's fish come out cremated batter and the fish dried out considering we live where fresh fish is easily obtained it far from tasted that way, as for myself I had a burger which was by far one of the driest bits of meat/food I've ever acquired. The chips they managed to get right. The worst part was when the waitress asked if everything was ok, we passed on the message and she just replied I'll be sure to pass message on. I wasn't expecting any discount which why I didn't challenge the response but if your gonna charge quality restaurant prices I do believe the food should match the price and as a family who have eaten in a lot of nice restaurants I'd 100% been happier in McDonald's. Today I tried the stiffkey red lion I think it was and 100% totally different class of cheffing. As I say as a pub for a drink 100% recommend. Food and dealing with dissatisfaction 100% go elsewhere

We booked and ended up with one extra family member coming. We apologised when we arrived and said we were totally happy to squeeze them on our already reserved table. This was met with eye rolling and general awkwardness and rudeness by one staff member. The table next to us noticed and it just all felt uncomfortable. We enjoyed our food but will think twice before going again for how the member of staff made us all feel. We had to ask for the extra cutlery once the food arrived so it was made clear we were not welcome with our one teenage addition. Just disappointing and uncomfortable experience considering we were a large table.

What a terribly organised institution. The man who could be the owner/ manager who decided to confront our family so rudely on a situation they are to blame for and then proceed to be very aggressive and shout at my 70 year old grandad. No common decency and a disappointment to the beautiful surroundings. What ever happened to the customer is always right. My brothers were served multiple times. Only one of them being asked for proof of identification. The bar staff served us until we had spent over £100 as a family and decided to kick up a fuss and tell us to leave. Wouldn’t recommend this place for families or anyone who won’t tolerate being spoken to like rubbish. An upsetting part of the celebrations for my grandad which has now resulted in us cancelling our meal for 12 people. As a manager of a pub myself, take full responsibility for the actions of your staff and improve them. Not blame the customer, who the poorly trained staff have served and not questioned. Disgusting behaviour.

Staff are lovely. I had hake special. Very small piece of fish on large mound of mash. I like mash but not great value as it was only hake. A white wine spritzer with 125ml of house wine at £5.50 and add on £1.50 for the splash of soda leaves a nasty taste. Not sure we will rush back.

Returned for Sunday Lunch after a positive experience last time. It was a 14.00 table booking, I ordered Roast Lamb which included a few scrappy bits of lamb, no full slices and barely a decent portion. When asked if we were happy I said the Lamb was disappointing and suggested it might be the last serving to which the waitress said it was. Subsequently, another Lamb Roast was presented to a lady on the next table, she too complained and was given an alternative choice, I was just told that they kitchen would be informed of my disappointment. My meal was definitely not worth the charge which we had already paid as sat in garden.

We didn’t stay in a room, so have rated them four stars. We stayed in Stiffkey and were told we had to go to the Three Horseshoes. So glad we did! Best pies of our lives! Absolutely gorgeous! We had the steak and ale and beef and blue cheese. Amazing! If we lived more locally, we would make a point of trying every pie! The meat melts in your mouth and the liquor has such depth. The pastry is flaky and buttery. Heaven on a plate! Our kids had the Mac n’ Cheese with chips and said it was the best they ever had (this comparing to Mac n’ Cheese at Twenty9, which is great, but The Three Horseshoes is better.) The staff were completely wonderful. The restaurant is clean with a great abundance of charm. Dogs are allowed. And parking is not a problem -Use the car park across the way. We visited yesterday being the 13th February. We had booked for 19:45 but arrived a little early. We had a drink whilst we waited and our table was late being ready not the end of the world but we did have a toddler in tow so it wasn’t ideal. When our food came out, it was disappointing, I had the burger (nearly £18) the cheese was burnt bacon underdone and it was in just a normal flour nap - for £18 I’d expect something a little bit more upmarket in brutal honesty. The other members of our party had pies as the pub was ‘known for pies’ they were okay. I’d say overall overpriced and underwhelming - nobody did a check back so I wasn’t able to raise this at the time with anybody and as by this point it was 9pm I was more bothered about getting my little one home. 4 meals (one being a toddler meal) and it was £74. At nearly £20 a head, the food was bog standard Wetherspoons standard and nothing more - which was a pity.

No longer a pub - another Norfolk rural pub bites the dust. The warm welcome starts with - have you booked, do you want to eat. If the answer to both is no hope you are one of the lucky 4 people as the total seating space indoors from those want just a drink is 4. Such a shame as this used to be a really good local pub. They serve a very decent pint of Wherry. But it is a restaurant. I’m sure in the summer the beer garden might provide a refuge for those daring to want to visit a ‘pub’ for a drink only but I won’t be visiting to find out.

The Three Horseshoes is an old fashioned pub, with newly constructed rooms attached. The bar hasn't changed much for years. An open fire is a big feature and popular with anyone who has done a walk across the country. Just up the road is Warham Camp where the Vikings landed a thousand years ago and more. The village is quiet and a mile or so from the sea. Food is good and good value. A steak sandwich is 6.50. Pies are a speciality. Garden is nice in the Summer.

Very disappointing food, only one of our four person group enjoyed their meal. I had the venison and red wine pie. The pastry was really soggy and the venison incredibly chewy, one large piece totally inedible. The shared veg were ok but the pie and mash was served with a bizarre flavourless green ( presumably parsley) liquor, can’t call it a sauce it was just green liquid and unpleasant at that. The ‘special’ of venison pasta was dry and unappetising. Great company and a nice pub but pretty rubbish food.

Had lunch with friends, having read the reviews. The pub hasn’t changed much, still charming especially with the open fires and beer straight from the barrel. The meals were not very good, beef & ale pies, chewy meat, very little gravy and a pot of “green“ liquid, would rather have had gravy! The “special” pasta dish was dry - the fish pie was enjoyed. Overall, a very disappointing experience (once again).

Stopped for lunch with my family and our dogs. Beautiful place, lovely garden. Staff couldn’t do enough for us. Young lady waitress on the day was simply lovely. We all had pies which were really tasty. A great experience and we will return for sure.

The food was terrible, not nice at all. Service was good and friendly but the food was barely edible, one of my group was put off from her food on just the smelly and was sickened. The food is poorly cooked and the only good...

Lovely, swiftly served food, no trouble with last-minute booking. Great team of people working here, very friendly and practical. And the pub is a really smart place, had a lot of money spent on it without losing its soul.

We went to The Three Horseshoes at Briston for Norfolk Restaurant Week, we arrived early and was welcomed in by very professional and friendly staff, we decided to sit outside and have a drink in a very pretty garden, whilst we waited for our table. I wasn't sure what to expect as we hadn't eaten there before and having looked in advance at the Menu, wasn't sure what it would be like. Wow, the food was exceptional, they must have an exceptionally talented forward thinking Chef, the Pigs Cheeks starter was delicious and excellently cooked, the main courses and desserts we all had, were so full of flavour, an exceptional meal. The Bar and waiting staff were all very friendly, Chef exceptional, we will definitely be re-visiting but next time we will stay the night. Highly recommend.

If you want to eat awful and not healthy than best you camp in. Food is cold, staff are rude and faces like they don't wanna be there. Short woman was very rude and you could hear them shouting out the back. Some man who appeared to be friends with them messing around outside. This isn't what i like to see when eating out. HUGE let down girls. They need to be more polite and have a better manner and not shout so much!!!

We arrived in Fakenham following a 5 hour drive to view some Norfolk properties for sale. We had originally booked accommodation in a different establishment but found the room unsuitable. We called in to the Crown and enquired if there were any rooms available. Ben and Tania quickly and highly efficiently found a room we could stay for the night and while Ben showed my partner the car park, Tania kindly paid the charge on her phone, as she had the app, and I reimbursed her. My partner then moved the car from the original establishment and we settled into the bar having been helped so much by them both. There was a fine selection of beers etc and an excellent menu. We particularly enjoyed chatting to Tania, Ben and some of the locals. After having an excellent meal we retired to our room. The room was spotless, warm and the bed lining was top quality enabling a good night’s sleep. Breakfast is included in the price and found the full English cooked beautifully by Chef Aiden delicious. His attentiveness to the diners was excellent and he was a genuinely nice chap. In short, great room, great food and with such a great team in Tania, Ben and Aiden, I fully recommend staying at The Crown.
