Nice stop for a coffee when you're walking along the Grand Union Canal. Dog friendly seating outside and table service. Food menu looked very nice, however we only had a coffee as we still had around eight miles to walk to get to Leighton Buzzard along the canal. Coffee's were good and the service was great, no wait at all.

Visited for a coffee and some cake, lovely place next to the canal and reservoir at Marsworth. Had a cinnamon bun, was huge and absolutely delicious, flat white coffee was lovely and hot.

Called in for tea and cake. The warm brownie was the best I’ve had for a long time, so well worth the calories! Price wise, it’s quite expensive, but a lovely place to stop if you’re walking round the reservoirs or the canal towpath.

We really enjoyed our hot chocolates and cinnamon bun, however the prices charged for cream and marshmallows are ridiculous and not advertised on the menu! Further more, it’s a shame they are not dog friendly as a great place to stop on a dog walk. Nice place but maybe in better weather!

I’ve waited 30 mins for 2 takeaway sandwiches in a place with more staff than customers. Cost £30 for the meal. Won’t be coming back. Would not recommend

Tried to patronise this establishment with our dogs in tow and was given a very curt refusal. When this was the Bluebird Cafe we and our dogs were most welcome but now we were regulated to the cold outside tables only. How can a cafe, reliant on walkers for their trade NOT allow walkers with dogs into their premises? Also, walking around the cafe & waters , be aware that there are NO dog-poo bins - you are expected to bag it ... and take it home with you.

One of my favourite places after a walk. The cinnamon buns are FANTASTIC.

I chose to stopover here on a solo bike ride through the Chiltern Hills. I'm not from the area so not familiar with what is and isn't good around here – I chose to layover here based on its location and distance on the ride. I was a little early as the venue didn't open until 10am, I arrived around 9.50am. I was a little surprised by the unfriendly welcome, which made it clear I wasn't welcome on the premises until they were open. I pushed the point and asked if I could just sit in the outside area, plus it should have been pretty clear as I was on my bike I didn't have anywhere else I could go or wait. I wanted to bring my bike into the outdoor area with me for security, but this wasn't allowed, apparently. I was then reluctantly allowed to sit on an outdoor bench and wait until they were open, then had to watch the bike from the other side of the fence – about 2 meters away. I just thought this was a little petty given I was on the only customer. Given this was advertised as a cafe, I was surprised by how few cakes/pastries were on offer. Basically, just one or two and nothing really substantial. I felt forced into choosing a millionaire shortbread, which was very small. They did manage to serve up a nice Americano – although they did spill it into the saucer. Prices weren’t too bad. One thing I didn't realise (not their fault) was there is no seating on the canal side. This is a real shame as I would imagine this being a really big pull point. Sorry, but I wasn’t impressed. The food offer wasn't good enough and the welcome/service was poor. Given where this venue is positioned on the canal and not far from an area of outstanding natural beauty, plus a national major cycling challenge route, they could do with learning more about their potential customer base and adjusting their offer appropriately.

Will not be returning now it’s under new ownership . I have returned several times in case my experience was a one off but sadly not .Not at all dog friendly as are not allowed inside with dogs so have to sit outside in all weathers . Was given a tiny plastic container for my dog which unless you have a small dog was impossible to drink out of . This used to be a friendly cafe to stop by on a dog walk unfortunately it’s now not the case .

Arrived at 1520 after paying for parking. Turned away at the door because they decided to close early (due to lack of customers), even though Google said open. Very disappointed. Will not come back.

Great little cafe. But they are missing out on lots of passing trade from walkers and cyclists along the canal as there is no indication this lovely place exists. Anyway, great little secret hideaway!

This has been one of our favourite places to visit over the past few years. We have walked along the canal and had a lovely lunch at Waters Edge. Our dish of choice was one of their tasty home-made quiches, new potatoes and salad. We were so disappointed yesterday to find they have replaced this menu option with a less than special cheese and ham quiche, bought in skinny fries and a dollop of coleslaw. In addition, some of the table cloths were ripped and the lovely courtyard covered in weeds. Such a shame.

Haven’t been to this venue for quite a few years and was never too impressed in the past. We arrived on a Sunday early afternoon as a party of 6 with no booking and were seated in a few minutes after a table was cleared for us. Staff were all very friendly and polite and our coffees and cakes arrived quickly. I had an amazing waffle which was not stingy at all with the gorgeous chocolate sauce. Decor and outdoor seating area are excellent too. We left very happy and will return!

Really nicely situated, great coffee, good atmosphere. I didn’t like the cinnamon bun texture compared to other buns I’ve had in the past - but hey, that’s my problem, not theirs. Overall, I would return and definitely try something else.

Beautiful weather today so a visit for lunch to this great location. Such a relaxing, friendly venue that deserves to do well and a menu to cater for everyone 😋. This is our 3rd lunchtime visit. Open for dinner on a Friday and Saturday so look forward to giving it a try 🥂 👏🏼👏🏼.

So happy to return tonight now they are open Friday/Saturday evenings for the summer, we had the charcuterie board, the steak and burger which were all so good! Super friendly service and as always a casual, relaxing atmosphere to eat and drink that beats going to the high street any day. Looking forwards to more evenings this summer at Waters Edge.

Great coffee and choice of items for breakfast (which is served until late afternoon). Good value and handy location very near canal (although you can't see it). Nice small outside area to sit in, tables could all do with shades in this current very hot weather. Staff service good and prices fairly reasonable for what you are served and quality.

Very expensive for two teas, one dry carrot cake and a dry flapjack that could not be cut with a knife. Nearly £14! Used to be so nice but won’t return. Friendly staff

Service was incredibly slow. I only ordered a soda and lime as the kitchen was closed. It took ages for me to get my order- i went to pick it up myself! They hadn't asked what size I wanted either, just assumed the biggest! Toilets were average and there was plates on the tables needing clearing. Not sure if they had had a particularly busy day but I was left feeling not particularly welcomed and quite rushed.

Had a coffee this afternoon after a walk around one of the reservoirs, very pleasant place, as I was on my own it would be very nice if they had public wi-fi system which is now sort of expected.

extortionate prices… nothing simple on the menu, just wanted a sandwich… £6.45 for a BACON BAP 😂😂 £15 for A toasted cheese sandwich ….. yeah but no thanks …. Just got a Diet Coke in the end

Nice place to stop on a canal walk for cake and drinks. Adjacent to reservoir carpark with easy access. Inside and outside seating with good service. Would recommend. Please like if this helped.

We walked around the reservoirs and along the canal, great for clearing the head and getting in the zone. The Waters Edge was excellent, very busy but good and service was on point. Sitting in the sun enjoying great food was brilliant. Will defo go again. Very reasonable cost too. All good was excellent local produce.

Pleasant cafe/small restaurant that is licensed. Good choice of food. Pub opposite is boarded up and Anglers retreat closed on Wednesday so this is nearest!

Used to be a nice, homely type of place, but under new ownership has lost that. Slow service and top price for a very small cup of coffee. To be fair, the coffee was nice enough, but won't be returning.

I went here late lunch with my husband on a Wednesday afteroon! The food was great and the service was great and speedy. The reason for 3stars is the disabled facilities! There are none. I have limited mobility so use a 'walker'. When I had to spend a penny there wasn't enough room in the cubicle. The restaurant and facilities were clean; nothing was too much trouble. It's a lovely cafe offering a range of eats and events. There is no parking. The parking is Reservoir Parking and there appears to be only 1parking bay!!

Only minor gripe is you have to leave your bike(s) outside, which is not as secure as we'd like, otherwise nice coffee & cake.

Only 2 stars for food as gluten free options are almost non existent. Service and friendliness good.

Nice and relaxed place to go for brunch (or similar 😂). The service was efficient and friendly and the food was good. Coffee was mediocre, tasted a bit burnt. OK if you want a latte with syrup, but not so nice without.

A lovely place. The food is fantastic and although I only had a lunchtime coffee, there is a good selection of wines, beers and spirits (which I intend to sample next time!!). Friendly, welcoming staff too.

A well run canal side tea room and light meals restaurant. Four of us walked from Tring along the Grand Union canal to the Tring / Marsworth reservoirs and stopped off for drinks. The size of the drinks was very good and filled to the brim. They were well made and delicious. Hence 5 stars. The resturaunt can get quite busy, however the new owners have expanded outside seating capacity so nobody had to wait while we visited.

Stopped by here with the kids and wife a number of times now. Food is always great and the staff attentive and lovely.

Second class service and staff who ignored us and never came to take our order despite being them standing around clearly doing nothing and is sat obviously waiting for at least 10 minutes. Whatever happened to good customer service? In one word, rude!

Been here 3 or 4 times now, hoping for better each time, however we find that staff are slow every time, and about 4 staff just standing around the counter chatting and waiting for drinks or food to serve when they could be taking orders. Our most recent visit had only one lad taking everyone’s orders considering it was very busy. Some staff just look like they have no idea what they’ve been allocated to do and just wander around the place. Got a hot chocolate and it was stone cold and took about 20 minutes to make 3 drinks. Its been like this for a while now. My boyfriend is also coeliac and their options for that are very sparse, he asked for a possible GF menu and they had no idea what to suggest to him and no knowledge on what menu items were GF.

Great place to meet for lunch or tea and a short walk around the lake. Bring a picnic mat and spend some time at the canal watching the boats glide by. Take a couple of hours out to enjoy nature and a good natter with friends at the Waters Edge. Food well cooked and reasonably priced. Pleasant memories for the more sedate enjoyers of life and nature are made here.

Went for breakfast, poached egg s.salmon and hollandaise sauce. Sausage sandwich, for my husband. Lovely!! Waiters very professional and friendly. One even saved my handbag for me when I left it on the one of the chairs. Think his name was Billy. So thanks Billy 😊

Really great place for a morning coffee, afternoon tea or a meal near the canal and reservoirs at Marsworth. We had both morning coffee before our walk and a lunch there after and the food, drink and the overall experience was excellent.

Lovely place. Great location, dog friendly in outside area. Lovely friendly staff on hand to explain menu. We shared the Jamon Croquettes which were the best we've tasted outside of Spain. Won't share next time. Beautifully clean facilities. A must go to place. Next time would like to try evening Menu.
