Having walked along the canal tow path from Leighton Buzzard, sometimes going further toward Wendover, and sometimes, like today, my destination on a beautiful Autumn morning. I've always found stopping at this café a delight. There is always a very warm welcome and a friendly atmosphere. The food is very good and service is excellent. There is an wide range of food which is healthy and very tasty, and, whilst perhaps not as healthy, all cakes are baked in a local bakery (owned by the current owners of Waters Edge) and are always delicious. My favourites include Gauacamole on sourdough bread with bravas sauce. Additional items can be added. And I cannot recommend the Rocky Road dessert highly enough. It is absolutely the best I've ever eaten - and I love Rocky Road. Victoria, the manager of the café, is always very friendly and makes every effort to make all customers feel welcome. She is backed by a team of people who obviously want to offer a relaxed and positive service that means when you leave, you feel happy. The food produced in the kitchen, is always of a very high standard. I'm aware that the business is under a change of ownership. I am hoping that little is changed, you can't improve on what I consider a perfect place to visit. Thank you to all who have made my stops so pleasant.

Well this was a suprise. Pulled in to car park for a walk with my wife and looked left where we saw the Waters Edge. Fancy a drink dear. ? She wouldn't say no. Had a nice cold bottle of beer. Tap water followed by the most gorgeous cheesy chips we've ever had. Friendly staff came and chatted we just pruning the plants. Stayed for another beer then ventured on our walk . Will always go back On the downside. We parked what we thought was the cafe car park. Nope. Beware. We got a ticket. £100.00 reduced to £60.00. should have asked or they could have displayed it on a notice board. Hasn't changed my mind though about the place . Anglers retreat across the road is also a lovely pub that makes Marsworth that little bit different. Loved the Café. Bob & Penny

We first came here with our son some time ago and I was so impressed 👍 I vowed to return on our next visit to his home and so we did. It's a little difficult to park but people usually manage to find somewhere and so it was on this occasion. That first time we had breakfast and I decided to repeat the experience. Having had a huge breakfast the previous day, I thought I would have a smaller one this time and decided to have a 'bespoke' one of a vegan sausage, one egg,one hash brown and some sourdough bread 🍞. The lovely girl who took my order, however (Chloe) had other ideas and ordered two of everything apart from the sausage. I guess she thought I needed feeding up! My one regret is that I couldn't order a portabello mushroom (which I love) in addition. I have to say, I don't really understand why since you automatically get one with the standard breakfast so why not without? Nevermind, I've seldom been turned down so charmingly and with such a constant smile! In fact, all of the staff were so smiley it made me wonder how they managed it so early in the day. To accompany my food I had a very good cup of coffee ☕. There is seating on the terrace but we decided to sit inside because they allow dogs outside and neither myself or my wife are dog fans. This place is a wonderful venue for a meal and I look forward to returning next time I'm up this way.

Very expensive second rate coffee, albeit a slight improvement on the Blue bell cafe. Food looks ok though. They have a sign saying Eat Cake but there was no cake on display so didnt get any. Outside area is fine apart from a ghastly lean to covered in plastic flowers. V naff! Inside is very dark and dingy with the plastic tablecloths- was better before. Seems like the small inside doubles as a staff office. Tried to order coffee twice but they wouldn't let me. They insisted i sat down and they would send someone to take my order. Very irritating! Staff were pleasent but gave the impression of being totally disorganised. Avoided it for years when it was the Bluebell. Not tempted to return to there now it is the Waterside

We Didn’t eat today. Not sure if it’s changed hands or not but it’s certainly not as good as it used to be. Ordered decaf iced coffee, I think they just put coffee in cold water. Not even any ice in an iced coffee 🤷 tasted awful No cakes on display to look at like they used to have .

After waiting to be seated as the sign said we were told go and find a table. The young waitress didn't seem up to the job taking various food and drink to the wrong table. After getting our Latte we were asked if we wanted sugar and we asked for sweetener. Okay I'll get them was the response and I never saw her again. The breakfast came with the wrong eggs. But after waiting 45 minutes we didn't dare let them take the plate back although they did offer. However we did get a nice reduction in the price for the mistake. Lets hope there are some coaching opportunitiese

Lovely little cafe however the service was awful. We walked past what apeared to be the owner on the way in and stood at the sign that told us to wait to be seated. A few minutes later a waitress told us to sit where we like. We then were given menus and told we would be served at our table. 10 minutes passed and our 3 children were beginning to become agitatedas they were hungry and nobody had come to take our order. The cafe wasn't busy and the staff were standing around by the till 5 metres from us. We signaled to let them know we were ready to order and were ignored. We ended up leaving without ordering. Very disappointing

Update, August 2024: Previously, this had been a great place to stop for a beverage and cake. However, our visit today was awful. There has seen a massive change (I wonder if there has been a change of ownership and the new people don't know what they are doing). We ordered a cappuccino and hot chocolate. Both were expensive and awful with little taste and a lot of cream froth. The choice of cakes on offer was not appealing. No carrot cake, etc. You would expect in a tea room. In particular, my "12oz chocolate" drink (ie 340g), was nowhere that large. I measured the cup, and a similar cup at home only contained 230g (ie 2/3's). Given that my drink was not particularly full, I estimate that, at best, all I got was 50% of the advertised amount. That hardly slated my thirst or satisfied me. We will not be returning. I would rather walk to the Grand Junction Arms or the Tring Garden Centre and get a decent sized and properly prepared beverage.

Lovely little cafe by the canal and excellent food. Staff were warm and friendly and something for everyone on the menu. My only gripe is the over enthusiasm at how quickly one member of staff wanted to whip away every piece of crockery the minute we’d finished, so she was back and forth ‘have you finished with that?’ on repeat. It just spoilt our chilled lunch to be honest. Just clear the plates when the last person is finished.

Delicious! Jacket potato with chilli, highly recommended, large salad alongside. Waffles were tasty and came with jug of syrup so you could pour that amount you wanted. We sat outside, nice area, relatively comfortable seats and fleece blankets if you got chilly. Halloumi wasn't worth it, in my opinion (4 thin slices). Children's burger was right size for my 9 year old. Oat latte was great. Tap water inside to help yourself.

After a lovely walk we popped in initially for drinks, but the menu read well. We got a couple of bottled beers, some cans of lemonade, “dirty fries” and 2 Reuben bagels. The Reuben bagels had all the right components, but some weren’t executed very well. The beef was thickly sliced and the bagel was super chewy, would have been better toasted! The only thing dirty about the dirty fries was the price!!! The crispy onions were merely chopped scallions/spring onions, the baconaise was simply bacon bits mixed through mayonnaise and the fries were covered in cheap tomato ketchup. Where’s the melted cheese? Where’s the spice? Where’s the dirty? Also the drinks finally came out after the food, which was surprising as they didn’t need to be made but simply served out of the fridge with some glasses?! Thankfully we didn’t get coffee, as the milk sounded like it was being destroyed by the steam wand! This place could be really really good. But whether through cutting costs, poorly skilled staff, sheer laziness or just too high of an expectancy: this place is unfortunately not good!

The teeny tiniest “vegan” breakfast for £9.95. A single Quorn sausage (made with egg white - not vegan) a thin slice of sourdough toast with butter (again not vegan) a small grilled mushroom, a couple of hash browns and a tiny pot of beans and another of sauce. A garnish of pea shoots failed to elevate this from what it was - half a Wetherspoons’ breakfast for double the price.

Tried to patronise this establishment with our dogs in tow and was given a very curt refusal. When this was the Bluebird Cafe we and our dogs were most welcome but now we were regulated to the cold outside tables only. How can a cafe, reliant on walkers for their trade NOT allow walkers with dogs into their premises? Also, walking around the cafe & waters , be aware that there are NO dog-poo bins - you are expected to bag it ... and take it home with you.

I chose to stopover here on a solo bike ride through the Chiltern Hills. I'm not from the area so not familiar with what is and isn't good around here – I chose to layover here based on its location and distance on the ride. I was a little early as the venue didn't open until 10am, I arrived around 9.50am. I was a little surprised by the unfriendly welcome, which made it clear I wasn't welcome on the premises until they were open. I pushed the point and asked if I could just sit in the outside area, plus it should have been pretty clear as I was on my bike I didn't have anywhere else I could go or wait. I wanted to bring my bike into the outdoor area with me for security, but this wasn't allowed, apparently. I was then reluctantly allowed to sit on an outdoor bench and wait until they were open, then had to watch the bike from the other side of the fence – about 2 meters away. I just thought this was a little petty given I was on the only customer. Given this was advertised as a cafe, I was surprised by how few cakes/pastries were on offer. Basically, just one or two and nothing really substantial. I felt forced into choosing a millionaire shortbread, which was very small. They did manage to serve up a nice Americano – although they did spill it into the saucer. Prices weren’t too bad. One thing I didn't realise (not their fault) was there is no seating on the canal side. This is a real shame as I would imagine this being a really big pull point. Sorry, but I wasn’t impressed. The food offer wasn't good enough and the welcome/service was poor. Given where this venue is positioned on the canal and not far from an area of outstanding natural beauty, plus a national major cycling challenge route, they could do with learning more about their potential customer base and adjusting their offer appropriately.

This has been one of our favourite places to visit over the past few years. We have walked along the canal and had a lovely lunch at Waters Edge. Our dish of choice was one of their tasty home-made quiches, new potatoes and salad. We were so disappointed yesterday to find they have replaced this menu option with a less than special cheese and ham quiche, bought in skinny fries and a dollop of coleslaw. In addition, some of the table cloths were ripped and the lovely courtyard covered in weeds. Such a shame.

I went here late lunch with my husband on a Wednesday afteroon! The food was great and the service was great and speedy. The reason for 3stars is the disabled facilities! There are none. I have limited mobility so use a 'walker'. When I had to spend a penny there wasn't enough room in the cubicle. The restaurant and facilities were clean; nothing was too much trouble. It's a lovely cafe offering a range of eats and events. There is no parking. The parking is Reservoir Parking and there appears to be only 1parking bay!!
