Came here for the first time today as a party of 3 for Sunday lunch after a local walk. Beautiful pub, really friendly and helpful staff and fantastic food. One of the best roasts we have had out in a long time with plenty of choice. We will be back!!

We recently booked three of us in for a Sunday lunch at this great little pub and restaurant which sits right in the middle of Cuddington. The Sunday lunch menu has a nice range of dishes to choose from as well as several different roasts which are all served with a large Yorkshire pudding, selected veg, roast potatoes, gravy and cauliflower cheese. The portions are very good and each of us agreed that this was one of the best roast dinners we had had out for some time, also helped by the staff who are so friendly and helpful. If you are looking for excellent food and a warm welcome look no further than the crown.

I visited on two occasions recently to arrange a small club meeting for an evening when they weren't serving food, so that we could use the dining area - as we have done before. On each occasion, the boss was apparently unavailable but I was assured this would be OK and I'd receive confirmation. I followed these visits with an email, again without reply. On the arranged evening, we attended the pub to find that it was now shut on this day each week. I have received no call or email to advise the change of opening days or an apology that we'd have to rearrange our meeting. I understand the licensee took over the pub earlier this year but if this level of customer service is anything to go by, then beware of visiting here.

I’m reluctant to say how good this roast was because, from a selfish point of view, I want to keep it to myself. But we need to suport excellent establishments so I’m recommending this to you. You won’t regret eating here. The beef was perfectly pink, moist and delicious. Crispy herby roasties, creamy cauli cheese (on the plate- not extra) kale, sweet carrots and parsnips. A Rich gravy to top it off, a creamy horseradish too; I couldn’t fault this roast. One of the best, if not the best in the area, I think I’ll be a regular. And value money is great, small glass of wine was exceptional value. See you soon!

Visited tonight for an impromptu family meal. Despite it being a last minute decision we were made to feel incredibly welcome. The kids meals are incredible value and offer a lot of choice. In addition to the regular menu, there is also a seasonal offering, which we chose from. All meals were amazing, service great and the bill less than I thought it would be. Well done Team Crown

The Crown is a quintessential British Village pub. It is under new ownership and we Aaron and the team who all haves is a warm welcome, including the chef. We have now been for lunch twice and dinner once. For lunch there were three menus. From sandwiches to a three course restaurant offering. Dinner was two menus. The food was great and it is reasonably priced. The pub itself has very nice decor and there is a bar area and restaurant. It is quite a small pub and already popular so I would suggest booking. I liked: Location in the beautiful village of Cuddington. The friendly welcome and service. The food. Dog friendly. Great walks nearby. I don’t drink but it is a Fullers Pub so should be good. An easy one to recommend.

Zero atmosphere, bar staff don’t seem to be able to pour a pint of lager, empty drab dining room, plastic folder with a very uninspiring menu, food average, service poor the only good thing was the waitress who was friendly but poorly trained! Cold welcome. Chef spoke to a party of two families poorly about them being late for their table and that there would but a wait for their order as there was an order for two people in-front of them, the family came outside and promptly left. A couple of days ago my husband booked a table for a party of 6 for today. He checked with the person on the phone that various things would be on the menu which included the baked camembert which they confirmed would be. On arrival we were given the menus which bore no relation to the online menu and did not have the jacket potatoes or camembert. The waitress said it was a simplified menu as the chef was on holiday. This point had not been mentioned at the time of booking. I , then ordered a pizza from the pizza menu slip slotted in the menu but the waitress advised this was also not available. She had no comment as to why it was offered on the menu. In fact there were only 4 main meals , a couple of starters and a few sandwiches, no deserts at all and that was it. We then waited an hour for our food despite 2 of the meals being a sandwich which seems far too long. On querying the delay , the waitress asked if we were in a hurry! When the meals did arrive, unfortunately one of the meals was cold and needed to be returned for reheating. And finally one of our party, on going inside the pub ,overheard the waitress and bar person talking/moaning about our party. This is very unprofessional but still no apology was issued. A lot of the problems were within their control. Whatever happened to good customer service, professionalism, good food and good manners. A disappointment all round.

Just been for ‘Thai night’ at The Crown at Cuddington. Food was Ok but nothing special, £16 for a bowl of rice with a few bits of chicken on top! It said ‘ dumplings served with every meal’ but no dumplings! In Thame about 5 miles away there is an excellent Thai restaurant (The Rising Sun) where for 2 people you would get authentic Thai starters and mains for less than this small bowl. We try and support our local pubs but will not return to The Crown under any circumstances. I am a Fullers shareholder and have a shareholders card which entitles one to 15% off meals and food but was not allowed to use it here even though it is a Fullers Pub. I will be writing to Fullers to ascertain why?£16 for what amounted to a small bowl of average food is outrageous. Not happy!!!

Great welcome from the friendly Landlady and a few locals that I haven’t seen in a while. Bread and Olives starter a definite winner but the homemade pie, suet crust and brimming with juicy beef, and the gravy, well, my wife dipped her bread in it as it was sooo good. There is a lot of competition hereabouts but The Crown is worth a quick diversion off the A418 to see a Witchert village in all its glory. Back for Sunday Lunch very soon be assured.

Once my local so we chose the pub to meet with a friend who we hadn’t seen for a long time. We walked in and behind the bar was the landlord who was not particularly friendly. The landlady greeted us, much better attitude, and showed us to our table. The roasts, lamb and pork were our choices, and both were cooked perfectly and tasted delicious. The plate was full with a good portion of meat and selection of vegetables. The Yorkshire pud was gorgeous. I love all veg but think it would have been better put into a serving bowl so we could have served ourselves. There was a varied selection of desserts which we tried 3. All were tasty. Love the idea of having a choice of cream, custard or ice cream with any dessert. The 2 young waitresses were too eager and between them made us feel as though we were being pushed out. To be asked if we had finished when our tea cups were still full was awkward. A lovely pub with good food so I would go back to see if the niggles have been ironed out.

We were party of 4, on Saturday night, and were shown to table in back, by a window. No heating on and it was cold. The waiter was a nice young man on his first night, and he hadn’t been well briefed on the menu. We ordered meals. Prices were starters £6.95, our mains £15 each ; Desserts around £6. They had run out out of some items. The food was fine, just the usual for a pub restaurant, and the smoked haddock was very good. We had a bottle of Prosecco and 4 beers. We were surprised however when the bill came to over £160. They automatically charged 10% service charge - so over £16 “tip”, and put some extras on the food bill which were not detailed - may have been ice cream that we thought was part of our desserts. So an expensive pub meal. The lock on the door on the left side ladies toilet jammed and so it took some time for us to get out. I had to go ask for help at the bar, and Turned out they were already aware of the problem. So ok, but we won’t be rushing back. We want to support places like this especially at this time, but felt we were overcharged, and things could have been better - warmer, better trained staff and safe toilet doors!

go on a dinner with my wife. They have asked for drink on arrival and i fancy a glass of wine, ask for the wine list (still waiting...)Came back 5 minutes later and ask if someone brought us the wine list... no they didn't but it was it's first day at the restaurant so he brought me a glass of white wineMeal is ok, quite tasteless, but didn't expect too much but we both digest our meal for few hours that nightBill came, £3 an apple juice and £7.50 a glass of pinot grigio!!! then add 10% service charge. I have crossed that one.

Needed to find a place to meet up with a friend for lunch and The Crown was halfway on the map. We arrived early but got a warm welcome and it was not trouble to show us to our table. We ordered the Ham, Egg and chips and also a kids meal - they all came quickly and were enjoyable. There was minor mishap with a glass of coke getting knocked over by the waitress, but accidents happen and there was no harm done. The staff quickly sorted everything out and replaced the drink. In the confusion, I left the case for my iPad (which I had grabbed out of the way) on one of the seats and left without it.I called the pub a couple of days later and they said they had found it and popped it into the post for me - such fantastic customer service and I'm hugely appreciative.Definitely somewhere I would consider visiting again if I happened to be in the area.Thank you!

This is a tale of good and not so good. The GoodWe called in for lunch as we were passing through, and were given a warm welcome. We ordered a couple of pints whilst we were choosing from the menu.We took our beers to our table in the bar and ordered two steak and ale pies. The beer was excellent and the food was also very good with nice mash and tasty veg to accompany the steak and ale pies. The service was great. The toilets were spotless. The Not So GoodIt was only after we left that I reviewed the bill. The price of the beer had been added to the food and a 10% service charge was then applied.Really? This is a pub and as mentioned above we had even carried our beers to our table ourselves. The food was on the pricy side, which I didn’t mind too much, but when you consider that with the service charge we paid nearly £42 for 2 pints and 2 steak and ale pie main courses, I think that was a bit steep.ConclusionWe would have rated this as Very Good or Excellent if the service charge wasn’t so sneaky. It just felt very cheeky. We will not return.

Really good food, The Crown Beef Pie is Delish & such good value, packed with very tender meat it definitely fills a hole. The Barmaid was very good & liked a bit of banter "Get Them Fires Lit" Ha Ha Ha. Good atmosphere in the bar & although The Dining Room lacks a bit of Character it didn't deter from the food. The Barmaid also pulls a Nice Pint. Well worth a visit.

Called in tonight, ordered 3 medium cod and chips. The one fish was OK, but the other 2 were the smallest and skiniest cod I've even been served in any fish & chips shop in this country. This is not their normal, usually everything is perfect. But tonight, a bit embarrassing, to be honest...
