Walnuts Cafe in Bexley

Am totally fed up with the tiny kids portions. Got to the point where I will no longer be ordering from the Walnuts! Final straw today when received 3 fish fingers and no more then 10 chips. I paid over £18 for two of these meals. No longer good value money, just an expensive rip off. My kids were still hungry after this so called meal, so I ended up having to cook. Absolutely fuming!

Have become increasingly fed up with the Walnuts, and their stingy portions. Just received an extremely tiny kid's meal by delivery. No more than 10 chips with three fish fingers, described as 'dry'. FEELING COMPLETELY RIPPED OFF FOR OVER £18! Has happened once too often and from now on I simply refuse to order from this rip off firm!

Very pleased that they do gluten free bread. Makes it so much nicer that I can eat the same as everybody else.

Called here for lunch. Nice menu with some unusual combinations. Good selection of drinks Car park opposite

Food is fine but a waitress was not attentive, forgot about my friend’s coffee. My coffee arrived on time but I double checked that it was decaf as I ordered. Only after leaving the cafe I realised it was actual coffee not decaf as I ordered. I’m caffeine sensitive and as a result my heart was beating as crazy and I had sleepless night. Staff should be more attentive when taking orders.

Wanted a healthy alternative to a 'Truckers' Breakfast and standard cafe fayre. This place looked attractive and expensive and was open at 8am. Was astounded at the fabulous meal placed in front of us, for what was a very decent price. Fresh, well prepared and delicious. Great coffee, great food, great shakes. Felt fully spoilt and satiated...

This review is for the Lockbottom branch Ok so we hit this new branch at a busy Saturday lunchtime and was greeted with a nice smile and seated immediately. Ordered 2 coffees and 2 breakfasts. The drinks took at least 10 minutes. Waited for 1hour 20mins for the breakfasts to arrive. No pre warning given before being seated of a extended wait time or any apologies or updates from any waiters as we waited. Meal was luke warm and average. No checking from waiters asking if everything was ok while eating. Continuous banging and grinding. noises from counter plus a cold draught through the door didn't help the ambience. For a established business these small short comings are inexcusable.even at busy times. Bill 30 pounds

Good, not the cheapest but good

Definately the best breakfast I've ever had, by far!! Couldn't fault the veggie breakfast with normal sausage. Sour dough toast, wonderful. Smoothie delicious and healthy. Tea good taste. Service good, polite and friendly, and Molly served me with a smile and was very helpful! Not too busy, sat in comfortable seat. Music tasteful and not too loud. Pleasant experience thank you, will come again soon!

Our favourite place to go out for breakfast. Really good menu. The cakes can be a little dry from experience, but everything else is great quality. The healthy start breakfast is one of my favourites and the fry up is always decent too. The kebabs and salads are great for a lunch.

Very disappointing visit yesterday. Have been many times and always loved it. Yesterday was like a different restaurant. Service and food not what we’re used to. Staff not friendly or welcoming despite there being 7 of them huddled together at the counter. Our main was dry & overcooked. Were never asked how our food was. We told the waitress when paying that we were disappointed and she couldn’t have cared less.

Coffee and cakes fine, however there was a group of intimidating young men and women seated near us who made us feel uncomfortable. They seemed well known to staff. This would make me reluctant to return.

Only good for tories and people who don't have to work... I don't get why this cafe acts like we're in the middle of central park in NYC, both with prices and the service.. good that Sidcup is getting more opened for different options

Attended a special Charity evening here. The food was delicious and the service great - will definitely go back.

Ate here for the 1st time yesterday and was pretty dissaponted, had seen it was always busy so thought it would be good. Service was poor, the staff were inattentive, the waitress couldn't describe the food when asked, most of them were constantly touching thier lash extensions (no judgement just not hygenic) the floor, bottom of the walls and door in the disabled loo was grey with dirt and it smelt bad. Total meal was £38 for 2 starters, 2 chicken shish and one coke and water. We ordered the garlic bread starter, £5.45 for a defrosted ciabbata roll slathered in catering butter and garlic, and cut into 4 pieces. The chicken shish was one strip/stick (very well cooked so thats posative), a standard side salad, and undercooked flat wide catering chips. Given the popularity of the place and the posative reviews, I'm really dissapointed, we had to ask 3 times for our drinks which came a long time after the starters and we had said we were thirsty when ordering. (It was a hot day) Such a pity as it would have been so good to find a local place for a lunch with friends, especially with the posative reviews.

Was appalled buy how they presented the eggs Benedict I order. No dressing , no garnish and muffin wasn't buttered. Very disappointed

Decided to visit this place with a friend as it’s really busy with the locals every time I’m in Sidcup. Excellent food, we tried the Classic & Vegetarian Full English - really delicious and decent portion. Great atmosphere with plenty of colleagues available to provide service - highly recommended.

What a find! Excellent service. Such an extensive menu with such a great variety of choice! Reasonable prices. A fusion of British and Turkish food. Had a job choosing - but ordered Halloumi Sheesh and Bangers and mash. Wow - so nice. Wish we’d had time for dessert. Will definitely visit again.

Such a great little cafe, amazing food and always fabulous and friendly service! An added bonus is the lovely outside seating area which is a great sun-trap in the Summer!

Me and my husband we was coming back from Manchester and we decided to have lunch, we do go often there for breakfast and we love it. I ordered seabass with vegetables and salad ,unfortunately my fish was well over cooked and vegetables were greasy, I just had the fish,I was verry disappointed as I had seabass there before. It was about 5pm and it wasn't that busy . Is a shame because is a lovely place and as I said there breakfast is amazing.

Taking customers for a ride with portion sizes - I paid £11.20 for a measly, very sad looking portion of garlic prawns. I did wonder if for that price, the prawns may perform a sond and dance for me too. I called the restaurant, lady who picked up gave the usual response of 'manager not available, not the restaurant's fault'. Such a pity as used to be good local outfit, not any more. Time to find a different place for my family....shouldn't be hard as many new places open in / around the area now.

Well, this is my first time ordering from Walnuts Cafe and it is certainly my LAST time. I ordered a Salt Beef Baguette and a Jacket Potato with Chilli Con Carne. First of all the Jacket Potato is very dry, as is the Chilli Con Carne. Side Salad is not fresh and had rotten leaves included with the portion. There is way more potato than there is Chilli, so the portion is appalling considering it cost £9.95. The Salt Beef Bagel I ordered once again has very little filling, it's mostly just bread. For £8.50 it's not worth the money at all. But that's not the worse part, there was hair on it. When I contacted Walnuts Cafe, the staff was not helpful at all and was not accommodating to the issues raised. After spending almost £20 for a Jacket Potato and a Salt Beef we can't even enjoy properly, the cafe did not resolve the issue and the staff was rather dismissive. In the end we spend £20 on food that we can barely eat and no one has done anything to rectify the issue. Be aware of this place. I will never ever place an order here again. Will make sure others know about it too.

Food was alright. I had poached egg on sour dough which was nice. The steak sandwich was super dry & boring though. Service was terrible. We sat there for ages. Had to ask for our bill & had to ask to be served to get dessert. The waiters are all very young & we’re just hanging around looking lost. They didn’t know what to do with themselves.

Disappointing lasagna today. Just a pile of mince with some form of cheese topping. No layers of pasta sheets & surrounded by a tomato sauce. Definitely will not order lasagna again.

Always 5 stars for Walnuts Sidcup! I am normally in for a morning coffee but the meals I have had have always been excellent. Staff are friendly and the service is good. But it is very popular and does get very busy at peak times like weekends. Booking a table is advisable to avoid disappointment. Recommended.

We regularly go to the Halfway St. branch for their burgers. My wife is a vegan and judges that their vegan burgers are the best she's had. Including upmarket central London restaurants where she has paid double. On a recent visit we paid cash and it seems that two of the new plastic £10 notes had stuck together in my wallet and I unwittingly handed over £10 too much. Our server came back to our table and returned the £10 to me. Really good and varied food, great friendly service and integrity as well. A winning combination.

Well we have ordered from chiselhurst before and it was amazing so we thought we would give sidcup a go ! :( ! 1 the eggs Benedict was stone cold and had been in a hard time before getting to me obviously I expect a little damage because of delivery but this was extreme the muffin hasn’t even seen the egg it had been thrown in and sent on its way ! 2 I’m no cook but not sure how you get a lump of shell inside a poached egg ? 3 the croque monsiour had been put on a serious diet due to the fact it was half the usual size of what had been ordered before ! And had been toasted to death ! Such a shame will not order again

We usually order from Chislehurst and it’s amazing however this morning we ordered from Sidcup, their flagship(!) in error, what a mistake!! My eggs Benedict was an absolute mess with the eggs broken and bits of shell in, freezing cold and tasteless. My husbands croque monsieur was half the size it is from Chislehurst with unbearably hard bread. Honestly do not waste your time and money on this branch, go/order from Chislehurst. Just for context in the pics the top one is from Chislehurst and bottom from Sidcup, the egg shell pic is all Sidcup!

extremely horrible atmosphere, rude and nasty to their staff! Won’t be returning to eat here, I think the staff deserve better and don’t deserve to be treated how they are. They’re all so young and clearly just want a job but walnuts is not the place they need somewhere that they’re treated in the right way.

Great cafe, up market definitely not a typical greasy spoon. Very good menu, staff were attentive and food came quickly. I think this is going to be a regular visit for us going forward. For a Sunday morning there were enough people eating there without it being packed. Plenty of tables inside and out.

Food finally came after 50 minutes and was cold and hard. Clear it’s all frozen! The manager Justina was no help - I feel sorry for the workers that work for her! Staff were lovely but Justina was just rude and little help. Will not return!

Came to have a Sunday treat breakfast with my wife but was very disappointed with the toasty that turned up for my wife (not toasted) sent back and came back exactly the same so told the staff member that we didn't want it if that's how it turns out so take it off the bill which they did but got no apology from the manager ! My wife is diabetic and has to eat at regular times so won't be coming back as very poor customer service.

Seating inside & out, we chose to sit outside, glorious sunny day. Staff friendly & prompt, orders taken. Food came out hot & and looked delicious. The food was indeed delicious & reasonably priced. A car park is situated across the road and priced at this time £2.50 for 2 hours. With that in mind, have something to eat, then go for a stroll down the High Street, maybe spending some of your well-earned money 💰 😁 Go on, treat yourself

I have used this cafe/restaurant for many years and the food has always been amazing, the service very good, and have always phoned to book a table, I’ve called today to book as I have someone in a wheelchair coming along and wanted an outside table as much easier with the chair to be told can’t book anymore on the day but I could of booked it yesterday. They have lost one very loyal customer and I will share this with my friends.

A nice place for coffee and cakes. The cakes are big and very tasty. Not too badly priced considering the portion sizes. The staff are fine and the atmosphere is nice and calm. The outside seating is nice on a warm day.

Experience might be better dining in than delivery. Ordered American breakfast. Pancakes were undercooked and still tasted of batter. The bacon was grilled which should work in theory, but it was just burnt tasting… like the taste of every other thing on the grill came with it—like burnt chicken from a bbq. And eggs should be scrambled for this dish… fried egg came wet and on top of pancakes.

Very popular. Seating outside and parking on the side street. The staff quickly served us. Unfortunately the brunch we choose was cold but we thought it was a food meal. Salad and cold egg? The toast was burnt but covered up. So all in all not too happy. They did take some discount off the bill which was appreciated. There wasn't enough toilets so I had to wait quite a while.

Eight of us met up for a Sunday Brunch. None of us were disappointed. I had some apprehension based on other TripAdvisor reviews. They were busy but having said that the staff coped admirably. No complaints from any of us, ages eighteen through seventy - plus.

Very very good & Poplar restaurant in Sidcup.

Gave this branch a second chance but yet again food was stale. I ordered the red velvet cake which is described as “moist”. The slice I had was stale and turning brown around the filling. The service was not brilliant either with the drinks the four of us ordered just being plonked on the table and not served to us individually. The owners really must do something about this branch as it is letting the whole brand down

I have ordered from Walnuts Cafe on Uber Eats a few times now. Their food has always been excellent with a good variety menu. I really like their signature salad which contains blue cheese, sliced apples and pears, rocket and walnuts and I have ordered this every time as it's so different to the usual salads. This time I ordered gammon steak which is a big piece in butterfly style with a slice of pineapple and a fried egg on top with a tasty side salad and a choice of chips or potato variety. Their millionaires shortbread is also fab with the caramel not being too sweet (although it usually arrives slightly melted because it gets packed in the bag in a separate cardboard box but next to the hot food - I just put it in the fridge to set again). The food is always delivered very hot and always tastes so fresh and prices are reasonable. They always pack everything in sustainable packaging. I have yet to try their breakfast menu but it looks delicious and such a variety. UPDATE APRIL 2023: The food here is still good but I can't believe how the prices have gone up so much in the last few months. I added 1 cumberland sausage to my meal and it was £3.05! You can buy a pack of 6 cumberland sausages in the supermarket for less than £3. Their signature salad is now £11.20. I would like to be able to order food from here more often but I simply cannot afford their prices to eat from here more than on the odd occasion. I am clearly in the wrong line of work 😀

A lovely looking cafe. Modern and good seating area inside and out. Parking on the side road. Staff were very attentive and service was quick. Food looked very nice when presented. However, toast was burnt and some of the food was like warm. They did knock a percentage off the bill , which was appreciated. I liked the fact they offered water with our meal.

We visited Walnuts this afternoon on Half way street Sidcup for lunch and sadly it was very disappointing We ordered some drinks and had to ask again for my drink as didnt arrive with the others this happened again when ordered second drinks Now to food sadly tasteless My husband ordered a steak pie as he loves a pie and when came looked ok however when cut it up in middle was stone cold not cooked The so young waitress came over to collect it no really apology and then waited for 15 minutes and had to re ask where his food was and looked shocked that we asked? They then took him another pie and chips burnt on top and meat pieces totally solid in the middle still no apology for the first mistake I love lasagna and ordered meat one however couldn’t really find meat was just layers of lasagna and absolutely tasteless no garlic nothing The garlic bread on the side wasn’t completely crispy the butter wasn’t melted through just sitting on top so was lukewarm however ate it as hate complaining My son ordered the grilled chicken- sadly the chicken was dry and very hard to the end of the breast so only ate a quarter I am only putting this on as I have mentioned earlier don’t like to complain however the staff made no attempt to apologise and unfriendly which is sad for a new place opening in hospitality Also I feel that it looks very busy so one bad review won’t make a difference however we where still very disappointed especially as we are trying to encourage our son to try new things and places I feel they need to cut there menu and concentrate on quality rather than having so much on there that they can cope with Feel this may be a lovely place for a a coffee and slice of cake however would never go again sadly as was hoping this would be somewhere we could go as a family as heard so many people rave about it however not for us

This review is for the Halfway Street branch as they don’t have a site!! Service was terrible again. Waitress didn’t understand order and older lady had to come and clarify. The muffins were rock hard and when pointed out the waitress said I don’t know...

Excellent. Takeaway panini and Greek salad with coffee all delivered to us and well packaged..The vegetable lasagna we had for dinner was fantastic. We are playing safe and not venturing out until we feel safe so the delivery has helped tremendously. Now venture out & have meals quite often here. Saturday brunch/ lunches very popular. Sometimes difficult to get seated. Quite an atmosphere. However we also return for evening meal and it is surprisingly quite. Great for us particularly the Med Veg side dish. Thank you.

What an excellent cafe. Only popped in for a quick lunch as was in a rush and service was superb and the food was really nice. Would highly recommend and wish I lived closer to visit again. Big menu and reasonable prices

Good restaurant with delicious food, I had the chicken Shish which was nice… The chicken was nicely seasoned but the rice felt a bit blunt. I recommend the Lamp shish to be honest was very tasty! The service was very good also, everything was served on time and no mistake was done ✔️ Also the restaurant was clean and tidy which is plus 👍🏼

I took my car into the nearby Seat garage and had to wait two hours so popped into the first cafe I came to. I had to join some work meetings and was lucky to get a quiet table. Good food and lovely staff, I wish it was near me as I’d go all the time.

We came across this lovely looking place coming home in the summer of last year , and went back twice more . Pushed our luck on Saturday and guess what we were NOT disappointed, still busy, friendly , great service and great food with a licence for that cheeky drink what's not to like about this place . Friendly service good coffee and french toast.

Very disappointed. I ordered Egg Benedict earlier today. It arrived COLD!!! Awful! Unappetising slice of ham on top of what looked like a half of cold roll, cold poached egg (x 2) and Hollandaise sauce spread over the packaging rather than the egg. Total waste of money!!! Never again!!!

Excellent place and definitely worth a visit. The food is excellent and very reasonably priced. The lasagne is especially good.

Decent restaurant, but they should look at getting some halal options for the meat. How can a restaurant not have a option of getting halal sausage or bacon especially is such a diverse area of south London. Should really look into it. Your missing out on a lot of Muslim/ black customers that do not consume pork.
