Walnuts Cafe in Bexley

My friend and I recently visited Walnuts cafe and had an experience that left us feeling disappointed and uncomfortable. When we placed our order, the person taking orders had a language barrier. To ensure she understood, we repeated our order twice. However, when the food arrived, it still wasn’t correct and needed to be adjusted. Later, when we asked for the bill, I noticed I was charged full price for a dish I had chosen from the kids’ menu. Still, I was willing to pay without any issue. The manager came over, and I explained what had happened. As an apology, she removed an item from the bill. However, when she returned with the revised bill, she made a comment that left me shaken. She pointed out that she remembered me from a previous visit, saying, “You sat at table 19 last time, and you had a problem with the bill then. I remember this vividly because I dealt with you.” Her tone made me feel as though she was implying we were trying to get out of paying. I felt uncomfortable and almost embarrassed, as if we were being seen as “cheap.” To make matters worse, she added, “Next time when you come, please place your order clearly .” Begin a regular customers this experience left a very negative impression. We felt we were treated as if we were at fault when we had been understanding throughout. Needless to say, we don’t plan on returning to this cafe again.

Amazing service I can’t thank u enough, stupidly I ordered to collect from Halfway Street Sidcup but placed my order over the phone with Main Road Sidcup. When I went to collect they helped me enormously by driving the hot meals straight over, I barely waited 5 mins. My mum is a regular + as always staff at HW St were concerned as they hadn’t seen her this wk. Truly exemplary business, hope this wk’s budget doesn’t spoil. My mum cdnt be without u…..+ as always another superb meal thank u

It's a nice place for brunch, smoothie (tried the Cherry Poppins) and coffee were good, staff was nice. But I went mainly for the breakfast and I can't give more than 3 stars when they fail at poached eggs :( They were both undercooked (some raw white) and with quite a bit of vinegar taste - I've never had lingering vinegar when poaching at home so not sure how they managed that. The guacamole was also kind of off. Quite unfortunate as my friends who had been before had the same issues but indicated that it was not like that before. If I wanted to nitpick, cutting a beef tomato in half and putting it for a few seconds on the grill is a bit lazy too - the halloumi was prepared nicely though.

The food was a bit over priced for what you get not the best quality food and it seemed to get very load in there to the point where you couldn’t hear yourself think

My favourite breakfast place in Sidcup. They also have cafés in Chiselhurst and Pets Wood. All very good. They use quality ingredients - sausages, bacon, eggs, mushrooms etc - not cheap ones but the good stuff. Coffee, hot drinks, smoothies all nice. It's always busy, especially weekends which indicates what people think of it.

I usually like walnuts, but I was disappointed when I ordered sourdough toast and, instead of real British butter, they gave me Lurpak! That’s not butter!

Orler never arrived. Called Walnuts, woman wasnt interested and said it was Just Eats issue. Will not order from Walnuts again.

I ordered off Uber eats and clearly stated no tomato’s in the customer note part on the order. They removed the rocket but not the tomato which Iam actually allergic too. The panini is not cheap and they refused to send a new one and stated it was Uber eats problem. Terrible customer service

I was in a foul mood as it was the last day of my forties and nothing could lift my mood (justifiably I think). Then this waitress rocked up, which annoyed me even more, not only did she have youth on her side, but she was also very pretty. I wanted to hate her for her youth, good looks and cheerfulness but then she made me laugh. It's important to note that I haven't laughed since 2007. Frankly I'm livid.... my carefully crafted bad humour has been festering away for over a decade and Walnuts ruined it. Said waitress recommended shish & chips, I ordered it knowing full well I would detest it and this would restore my premenopausal bad mood.... Oh and a vanilla milkshake... I took a sip of their vanilla milkshake, which was a bad move, it was like drinking liquid angels accompanied by trumpets and violins, my dark mood was waning. The shish arrived, I felt semi-confident about rekindling bad mood. Sadly it was perfectly cooked, had a lovely dressing, even the side salad was ace... Being 50 doesn't seem so bad after all.... Super disappointed with my visit here. I’ve always had nice food and a pleasant experience. Not this time around unfortunately, wouldn’t go back again. Food was awful, im not sure what is going on but it wasn’t even that busy, so can’t use that as an excuse. I don’t mind paying the premium prices at walnuts if the food lives up to the expectations as premium too, but it just didn’t. It was probably the worst food I’ve had in a while. The manager there at the moment has a lot to be desired too, this place has gone downhill fast. Such a shame as we will no longer frequent this cafe anymore. I must add the serving staff are very friendly and helpful, but unfortunately that doesn’t resolve the rest of the problems here.

Disaster, pre cooked bacon dry and cold. Asked for a coffee Flat white sent a cappuccino. The team seems lost and walking without purpose. Training needed. Asked for the bill it took around d 15 minutes to receive it.

What can I say! Walnuts a true gem in the heart of Sidcup! The food is always 5 star. My son had the chefs special and I had the classic breakfast. There wasn’t a baked bean left on the plates! The food and service is alway’s exceptional. We wouldn’t go anywhere else! Well Done Walnuts!! Keep doing what your doing!

Walnuts is never a cheap option for breakfast, but the staff and food make up for it. Well worth paying a little bit of a premium!

Birthday Breakfast with wife. 78yrs old. Restaurant pleasant and tidy. Waitresses were polite and friendly. Sadly my breakfast sausage muffin was very poor. The muffin was so hard to eat and cut. Thought I was going to eat proper sausage but got patty instead tasted like cheap burger. Left muffin on plate and told waiter why. When paying I thought that they could have apologised or commented on matter.

Amazing place for a family meals on the weekends. I went with my friends and had a great time, good food, good service and plenty of seating inside and out at the front.

Attended Walnuts Cafe for the first time recently. We arrived around 9.30am on a Saturday, and as the weather was reasonable, sat outside. By 10am the majority of the ten or so tables had been taken which is always a good sign. I opted for the classic English breakfast at £10.50 with Earl Grey tea an additional £2, and although the menu, as seems to be the current trend, warned that swapping items would incur a charge; is there really an additional 'cost' to a business in cooking a piece of black pudding rather than an egg, I was told that it would be waived on this occasion. The food arrived quickly and was of uniformly good quality, with the pork sausage and bacon excellent. Mushrooms, black pudding and baked beans completed the breakfast which came with a round of granary toast, although a choice of bread is offered. Service was very good with minimal wait time, and despite it being a busy Saturday morning, staff were pleasant and attentive. Prices were slightly above average but so was the quality of the food, service and atmosphere so no complaints on that score. If I was being picky, it would have been nice to have been offered the option of a pot rather than a cup of tea, but that aside, if you are looking for a good quality breakfast in pleasant surroundings, this ticks all the boxes. Recommended.

Always 5 stars for Walnuts Sidcup! I am normally in for a morning coffee but the meals I have had have always been excellent. Staff are friendly and the service is good. But it is very popular and does get very busy at peak times like weekends. Booking a table is advisable to avoid disappointment. Recommended. Still as lovely as ever and I just love my Cappuccino.😋 It is still as popular as ever too so do consider booking a table.

Greeting by the young waitress on the door was welcoming and kind, and service by the other young waitress was very professional, well done to both of them. Food was nice . It was very busy, always a good sign.

Went for lunch here today and decided to try the spag Bol and omg i really wish I hadn’t. I thought prison food was bland but that took the biscuit won’t be going back for more that’s for sure. My partner had the chicken Caesar salad she said it was RUBBERY.

Consistently good food, well priced, very attentive and efficient staff who always have a smile. Nice and roomy so one never feels squashed in. Recommended.

Rude waitress and overcooked chicken. Told the waitress that the chicken was over cooked and dry she shrugged her shoulders and walked away. Absolutely shocking. Messaged Walnuts about this and zero response! You have now lost a lot of customers!

I ordered the kofte and shish meal with extra chips - meat was really dry and portion was meager considering cost.About 2spoons of rice. Tons of lettuce. 2 baby tomatoes, 1 tiny chunk of cucumber, 1 slither of onion. 12 chips (£4.60!). In all a really disappointing meal for £33.00! I eat in at Chislehurst all the time never had such a poor quality meal from their before.

Food was excellent. Although they got the food orders mixed up. The atmosphere was okay, but we did sit outside and it may have been different inside.

We came with our baby in his buggy and was asked to take him out of his buggy. However, there were other babies in their buggies. We didn’t feel welcome and will not be returning

Overall, I had a great experience with the service at this establishment. The staff were friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere was lovely. However, as someone who follows a dairy-free diet, I was disappointed to find that there were no options for me on the menu. I simply wanted a hot chocolate with my breakfast and some dairy-free butter for my toast, but unfortunately, these items were not available. It would have been nice to see some dairy-free options on the menu to accommodate those with dietary restrictions. Despite this small setback, I still enjoyed my visit and would recommend this place to others.

Took mum for lunch last Sunday very very disappointed. Fully loaded breakfast, sausages burnt bacon like shoe leather mushrooms over cooked beans cold mum couldn't even eat her classic breakfast. I had my favourite hot chicken on ciabstta what a let down. Chicken burnt dry and over cooked, salad none existent tiny bit of lettuce and one small cherry tomatoe. Used to love going here won't be going anymore ...

Popped here for breakfast early one morning in January. We was shown to our table and ordered swiftly from the extensive menu. The food came out reasonably quick and tasted really nice. I would definitely return

Am totally fed up with the tiny kids portions. Got to the point where I will no longer be ordering from the Walnuts! Final straw today when received 3 fish fingers and no more then 10 chips. I paid over £18 for two of these meals. No longer good value money, just an expensive rip off. My kids were still hungry after this so called meal, so I ended up having to cook. Absolutely fuming!

Have become increasingly fed up with the Walnuts, and their stingy portions. Just received an extremely tiny kid's meal by delivery. No more than 10 chips with three fish fingers, described as 'dry'. FEELING COMPLETELY RIPPED OFF FOR OVER £18! Has happened once too often and from now on I simply refuse to order from this rip off firm!

Food is fine but a waitress was not attentive, forgot about my friend’s coffee. My coffee arrived on time but I double checked that it was decaf as I ordered. Only after leaving the cafe I realised it was actual coffee not decaf as I ordered. I’m caffeine sensitive and as a result my heart was beating as crazy and I had sleepless night. Staff should be more attentive when taking orders.

Wanted a healthy alternative to a 'Truckers' Breakfast and standard cafe fayre. This place looked attractive and expensive and was open at 8am. Was astounded at the fabulous meal placed in front of us, for what was a very decent price. Fresh, well prepared and delicious. Great coffee, great food, great shakes. Felt fully spoilt and satiated...

This review is for the Lockbottom branch Ok so we hit this new branch at a busy Saturday lunchtime and was greeted with a nice smile and seated immediately. Ordered 2 coffees and 2 breakfasts. The drinks took at least 10 minutes. Waited for 1hour 20mins for the breakfasts to arrive. No pre warning given before being seated of a extended wait time or any apologies or updates from any waiters as we waited. Meal was luke warm and average. No checking from waiters asking if everything was ok while eating. Continuous banging and grinding. noises from counter plus a cold draught through the door didn't help the ambience. For a established business these small short comings are inexcusable.even at busy times. Bill 30 pounds

Definately the best breakfast I've ever had, by far!! Couldn't fault the veggie breakfast with normal sausage. Sour dough toast, wonderful. Smoothie delicious and healthy. Tea good taste. Service good, polite and friendly, and Molly served me with a smile and was very helpful! Not too busy, sat in comfortable seat. Music tasteful and not too loud. Pleasant experience thank you, will come again soon!

Our favourite place to go out for breakfast. Really good menu. The cakes can be a little dry from experience, but everything else is great quality. The healthy start breakfast is one of my favourites and the fry up is always decent too. The kebabs and salads are great for a lunch.

Very disappointing visit yesterday. Have been many times and always loved it. Yesterday was like a different restaurant. Service and food not what we’re used to. Staff not friendly or welcoming despite there being 7 of them huddled together at the counter. Our main was dry & overcooked. Were never asked how our food was. We told the waitress when paying that we were disappointed and she couldn’t have cared less.

Only good for tories and people who don't have to work... I don't get why this cafe acts like we're in the middle of central park in NYC, both with prices and the service.. good that Sidcup is getting more opened for different options

Coffee and cakes fine, however there was a group of intimidating young men and women seated near us who made us feel uncomfortable. They seemed well known to staff. This would make me reluctant to return.

Attended a special Charity evening here. The food was delicious and the service great - will definitely go back.

Ate here for the 1st time yesterday and was pretty dissaponted, had seen it was always busy so thought it would be good. Service was poor, the staff were inattentive, the waitress couldn't describe the food when asked, most of them were constantly touching thier lash extensions (no judgement just not hygenic) the floor, bottom of the walls and door in the disabled loo was grey with dirt and it smelt bad. Total meal was £38 for 2 starters, 2 chicken shish and one coke and water. We ordered the garlic bread starter, £5.45 for a defrosted ciabbata roll slathered in catering butter and garlic, and cut into 4 pieces. The chicken shish was one strip/stick (very well cooked so thats posative), a standard side salad, and undercooked flat wide catering chips. Given the popularity of the place and the posative reviews, I'm really dissapointed, we had to ask 3 times for our drinks which came a long time after the starters and we had said we were thirsty when ordering. (It was a hot day) Such a pity as it would have been so good to find a local place for a lunch with friends, especially with the posative reviews.

Was appalled buy how they presented the eggs Benedict I order. No dressing , no garnish and muffin wasn't buttered. Very disappointed

Decided to visit this place with a friend as it’s really busy with the locals every time I’m in Sidcup. Excellent food, we tried the Classic & Vegetarian Full English - really delicious and decent portion. Great atmosphere with plenty of colleagues available to provide service - highly recommended.

What a find! Excellent service. Such an extensive menu with such a great variety of choice! Reasonable prices. A fusion of British and Turkish food. Had a job choosing - but ordered Halloumi Sheesh and Bangers and mash. Wow - so nice. Wish we’d had time for dessert. Will definitely visit again.

Such a great little cafe, amazing food and always fabulous and friendly service! An added bonus is the lovely outside seating area which is a great sun-trap in the Summer!

Me and my husband we was coming back from Manchester and we decided to have lunch, we do go often there for breakfast and we love it. I ordered seabass with vegetables and salad ,unfortunately my fish was well over cooked and vegetables were greasy, I just had the fish,I was verry disappointed as I had seabass there before. It was about 5pm and it wasn't that busy . Is a shame because is a lovely place and as I said there breakfast is amazing.

Taking customers for a ride with portion sizes - I paid £11.20 for a measly, very sad looking portion of garlic prawns. I did wonder if for that price, the prawns may perform a sond and dance for me too. I called the restaurant, lady who picked up gave the usual response of 'manager not available, not the restaurant's fault'. Such a pity as used to be good local outfit, not any more. Time to find a different place for my family....shouldn't be hard as many new places open in / around the area now.

Well, this is my first time ordering from Walnuts Cafe and it is certainly my LAST time. I ordered a Salt Beef Baguette and a Jacket Potato with Chilli Con Carne. First of all the Jacket Potato is very dry, as is the Chilli Con Carne. Side Salad is not fresh and had rotten leaves included with the portion. There is way more potato than there is Chilli, so the portion is appalling considering it cost £9.95. The Salt Beef Bagel I ordered once again has very little filling, it's mostly just bread. For £8.50 it's not worth the money at all. But that's not the worse part, there was hair on it. When I contacted Walnuts Cafe, the staff was not helpful at all and was not accommodating to the issues raised. After spending almost £20 for a Jacket Potato and a Salt Beef we can't even enjoy properly, the cafe did not resolve the issue and the staff was rather dismissive. In the end we spend £20 on food that we can barely eat and no one has done anything to rectify the issue. Be aware of this place. I will never ever place an order here again. Will make sure others know about it too.
