Miller & Carter in Bexley

Greeted and seated quickly. Great service. Starters and main meal were great. Only a small negative. Ordered chunky chips at an additional £1 and they arrived in a metal cup and in the cup was a paper cone which only went down a third of the way. Poured them onto my plate and there were 9 chips in my serving! Coleslaw arrived in the smallest pot I have ever seen, probably one spoonful. The sauce and vegetables used were tasteless. Very poor. I didn’t complain as it was my daughters birthday and I was satisfied with the starters and ribs. But you should expect to receive a respectable portion at these prices. The only let down.

Visited on a busy Friday night, this was clearly a mistake. Long wait to get through reception and get seated, floor under table was grubby, one seat was very wobbly and the ceiling paint had all peeled off as if they had had a recent water leak. Although they were busy a really long wait for both courses, one explained by one of three dishes being over cooked? This visit was not helped by a pair of fellow diners playing videos loudly on a nearby table, then a dining family twice leaving by a fire door which reduced to dining area temperature considerably. Neither action was dealt with by staff, as they were just absent and appeared over run. Food was mostly fine but there was a large ‘bone’ in the dirty burger, server just commented that she didn’t know how that could happen? So wanted this to be a pleasant visit for a family occasion as we have fond memories of visiting here but it was only mediocre at best.

Waited over an hour for our starters. Scallops cold and so tiny. Then waited over another hour for our main meals. Total shambles. People coming in much later than us. Yet their mains served a lot sooner. Was given an array of excuses by our waiter, all bull, because we are caterers ourselves. The sides were served when the mains were almost finished. Totally unacceptable. Booked to eat early due to health reasons. The manageress Cherie was so rude and unsympathetic. Another array of pointless excuses. We definitely will not be returning.

Food was wonderful, amazing service from Cat! Would deffoo come again! Steak was perfect, quick with drinks and wonderful serving!

The food was excellent, what was not was - the time spent waiting. We arrived at 17.30, our starter arrived 30 minutes after placing food order. The main course landed on the table just after 19.00. The time spent waiting spoilt the evening for us. The staff are not to blame for this, the restaurant was rammed and they were running round trying to keep up. Five stars to them and the kitchen. The fault lies with the management of staffing levels for both the restaurant and kitchen. We have found the same during off-peak, and although there are less customers, there is less staff. So they are still playing catch up. Miller and Carter, please get your act together.

The food was fantastic. The steaks were cooked to our perfection. The service from Amber was absolutely great. We couldn't have asked for a better helper. A great evening.

Just got home from lunch at Bexley miller and carter. Food was delicious and the staff welcoming and friendly.our waiter was called Gabriel, a very efficient, polite and enthusiastic member of staff. Well done, we will certainly be back.

Not great wouldn't recommend on a weekend evening. Lunchtime is better service

We had the Sunday roast sharing board. There was sufficient food for two but potatoes were not Crispy or proper roast potatoes that we were expecting. We will however not be rushing back for this particular dish. The food took around an hour to arrive which was a little too long to wait. Service was good as always.

We always come here for our wedding anniversary so pre booked our table online and we decided to try the Sunday sharing board this time around. We did wait over an hour to get our meal, however the restaurant was heaving and there were a constant influx of customers! Food was delicious,vegetables were very undercooked, however a few hard French beans didn’t spoil it and Charlie our waitress was lovely and apologised for the wait. We’ll be back… just probably not on a Sunday lunchtime!

Service was incredibly slow, waited over an hour for mains which isn’t acceptable many surrounding tables was also complaining and frustrated. Wasn’t asked for any complimentary drinks even though the wait time was awful. Everyone seemed rushed. Food was amazing though.

Went with the family recently and had a lovely meal. Steak was perfect & my starter was deelish. It was quite busy but our waiter, Gabriel, was really attentive & very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. We had a great night.

Didn’t get to try the food so being fair and giving a 3 star for that. I visited this location yesterday, and unfortunately, the experience was disappointing from the start. Upon walking in, we noticed that the floor was dirty, which immediately gave off a poor first impression. Then, my girlfriend was served a cocktail that had lipstick on the rim of the glass—completely unacceptable for hygiene standards. Things only got worse from there. After placing our food order, a waitress carrying plates of food squeezed through a tight gap behind my chair and actually knocked into it, which was not only disruptive but also completely avoidable. At this point, I had enough and decided to speak with a member of staff. I know his name but won’t mention it. I pointed out the dirty floor and advised that we were leaving because of the unacceptable conditions. His response, as he quickly snatched our cocktails from the table? “Well it’s only mostly leaves” as if that should be acceptable reasonable for a dirty dining room. Even though it was not just leaves but remains of food everywhere. Given the state of the restaurant and the lack of care shown by the staff, I cannot recommend this location. Very disappointing.

So the reason My husband and I came to Miller and Carter Bexley is because it was my 35th birthday And it was our first time ever and Miller and Carter. We told them on the reservation and even the hostess/manager when we arrived said oh I see you’re celebrating your birthday. I’m like yes I explained it was mine. I was even wearing a birthday crown. And while we’re eating dinner, we noticed that they’ve done two other people‘s birthdays with singing and dessert and then it gets to us and our dessert comes Nothing happened so we just ate our dessert and then we checked out. But while we were checking out, I asked our server. I think it was Jackie was wondering if the other people who had birthday singing and stuff did they have to bring in something or what because you know it’s my birthday you guys knew that it was my birthday and she’s like oh my gosh, she apologize profusely and said that her manager didn’t tell her that it was our birthday and by this time we were already checked out and getting ready to walk out the door. so unfortunately This has put a sour taste about Miller and Carter Bexley to us because A: it was our first time coming to this restaurant and then b: Communication was lost even though we were told you guys that reservation and you guys knew when we checked in that it was my wife’s 35th birthday. And nothing was action upon the birthday request. I just make sure if you have a birthday request on the reservation to act upon those things.

Our table was at 5.30pm, we left at 7.45pm with two really tired and grumpy toddlers. The food took ages, drinks took ages, starter was missed and the kids meals had the smallest portion of peas I’ve ever seen. By the time the adults food came out we all rushed to eat it whilst trying to entertain the babies so it just wasn’t enjoyable at all. We definitely won’t be returning.

Quite unhappy with the service from Amber this evening, didn’t really know the dishes (but could be new) and service felt very rushed and emotionless. Minded her manners well though. Starters were good however everything from there on was poor. Mains took almost 45 minutes to come because the chefs remade it due to their own mistake, but amber had asked if we wanted one burger brought out before the other to which we said yes because I was starving.. both were brought out the same time and practically cold. The loaded burger for my husband came with one single small piece of steak (amber asked the chef and he said there were two?) my bacon and cheese burger was dry and almost cold. Every other time we have been the service and food has been amazing but this time was extremely poor. Desert was also pretty foul, creme brûlée is basically the only reason I go to miller and carter and it was so slimy no crunchy sugar topping. Very dissapointed!

So the lady who served us was very nice. However the experience of being there didn’t live up to our last experience. Most of the stuff we wanted from the menu wasn’t available. We had waited over a year to come back and sadly we was told this and that wasn’t available. We didn’t get our order taken for about 45 mins and by the time we finished eating it was close to 10pm we arrived at 8:15. Just was a bit disheartened by visit and may not return for some time I went to bed with a very heavy stomach.

Sunday lunch shared plater overall very good although Yorkshire pudding was burnt on top and greenbeans were under cooked almost raw. Like aldente but definitely undercooked. And the price may put off some people but overall very good 👍

We were left waiting outside in the rain whilst the staff were still sorting out things inside, understandably there is construction work going on and the manager said he has a lot going on! Not what we wanted to hear, anyways we were let in ( a group of 10 all together, including a person on a wheelchair) 6 of us had arrived at 12pm or just before. The manager seemed really stressed, huffing and puffing everywhere, we were sat on 2 separate tables because we couldn't book a table of 10 together?! Again, I don't understand why because the inside of the restaurant had lots of long tables that were empty. Where we were sitting seemed like an alleyway, and it felt we were constantly blocking pushchairs and people, but the tables are tight and the chairs so heavy! We were told that this is the only area that is disabled friendly, it did not seem like that at all, because the wheelchair was getting in everyone's way, despite being pushed right up the table. Very disorganised and not relaxing at all. The saving grace was our server, she was super friendly, accommodating and took our orders really well. Considering its a big group, and a lot of money spent, we won't be returning to be made to feel like we aren't wanted!

Overall pleasant experience, food was good and service friendly if a bit slow. But as it was busy gave benefit of the doubt. Nice atmosphere in the main dining area.

What can I say.. we came here for lunch worried it would be a limited menu but the full menu was on offer. We went for the sharing platter and it was incredible. As my first time visiting I was worried and very snobby that it was a chain and instead I could not have been happier. We will be back as soon as our bodies and bellies have rested. The sharing platter was outstanding not just because of its size but because how delicious the meat had been prepared. We asked for medium rare and it all arrived perfectly. Staff were wonderful. Chef is amazing. Mocktails were tasty and full of flavour and good value. We cannot wait to return.

I was going to take my elderly parents for an impromptu Sunday meal. Have to say there was a discurtious head waiter at the desk who did find us a table for three. Sadly he seemed harassed and begrudgingly showed us to the table after having to count his menus first. He showed no courtesy, bordering onto rudeness, had obviously forgotten how to smile, no welcome, no banter. We sat for a while in the gloomy dark environment and decided to leave as clearly the ethos had come from the top and filtered it's way down. Will not return.

We were celebrating my brother-in-laws retirement. Couldn't have gone better. Great food, fantastic staff and great location. Would thoroughly recommend a visit.

As always, the food was delicious and the servers were very polite. However, we did wait for 20 minutes after being seated before our server came to our table to take our drinks orders. A table seated shortly after us had their drinks orders taken right away. When our main was brought out, we were asked if we wanted any sauces which we did, but these were never brought over. We also had to order our second rounds of drinks twice, once when our main was brought out and second time when plates were cleared, because they didn’t arrive after the first request. There were only two of us and we ordered a soft drink and peppermint tea so not a complicated order.

The meal was excellent, as was the service by our waitress, however my only complaint would be that the door on the gents W/C could not be closed fully, let alone locked, which caused me some issues as I suffer with Crohn's disease and need to use the W/C regularly. Not being able to relieve yourself safe in the knowledge that anyone could walk in on you is not something I think you should have to worry about at an establishment such at yours. No one should have to use the restroom and need to keep their foot on door to ensure privacy. I would have happily given a 5 star review is this hadn't been an issue.

Having been to Miller and Carter at Bexley previously, I was looking forward to the same experience as before, alas that wasn’t the case. The service was appallingly slow, 10 minutes to take the drinks order, a further 10 minutes to order the food, which was delicious. It then took a further 10 minutes to clear the plates, another 10 minutes to bring out the dessert menu. We thought we’d just have a coffee and another drink but 20 minutes later, after calling someone over to take the order, nothing had arrived, so we decided to leave. The manageress explained that table 2 were too demanding for their staff to cope which I thought was rather rude. She then proceeded to argue with my wife. So to summarise, on a quiet Monday evening, great food but be prepared to spend all evening there, waiting.

Excellent restaurant with quite an extensive menu. The restaurant is next to the lovely Hall Place and there is a huge free car park adjoining the restaurant.

My husband and I decided to pop out for an impromptu lunch, we had a lovely 3 course meal (and also took advantage of the 3 sides for £10), all from the lunch menu... The food was amazing, although my husband's pork was incredibly salty... I'm normally a red wine fan, but chose to opt for a Sauvignon Blanc instead. Our waitress, Romana, was absolutely incredible, she seemed very knowledgeable with the wines and recommended a particular wine, and wow, it was amazing! We were seated in the 'Manger', which is a beautifully romantic area just off of the main restaurant, we were worried we'd get forgotten as we were fairly secluded, but Romana regularly checked in to see if we needed anything, always with a friendly smile. I'd light heartedly asked if she could bring a second round of drinks in around ten minutes, and, the "Waitress of the Year" award goes to Romana... Because, as we were about to ask her for the drinks, she walked up to us with a tray topped with a fresh round of drinks all ready!!! My husband and I eat out frequently, and we've experienced all kinds of service, but nothing as amazing as this. 10/10 to the wonderful, friendly, proactive, informative, amazing, Romana!!!

When we arrived your member of staff could not find our booking, notwithstanding I had received two emails confirming this. Very embarrassing. As on previous visits, once again there were unavailable items. We were told that the full rack of ribs was unavailable, but half racks were. Were we offered 2 halves to make a full? No. The food took half an hour to arrive, even though the restaurant was quite quiet. On the plus side the food was delicious and the waitress very pleasant.

Great meal and was served quickly. All the meals come out hot and served well. The menu has been updated slightly since we last had been. Portion sizes are suitable and everything tasted nice. I would suggest booking ahead as it was getting busier and busier. There is plenty of car parking spaces nearby and also there is wheelchair access

Very disappointed. Steak was tough. Slow service. Over priced. No atmosphere. Staff were indifferent. Expensive Harvester!! Will not go back!!

I have had to edit this post as since the initial post i got a message from the company asking them to call to.discuss....i.duly called and what a complete waste of my time...first the mgmt had no idea why i was being asked to call..and now three weeks on i am none the wiser why they responded to my post as the message i am receiving is that basically they fall short of good standards sometimes and that is the way it is!... Basically if you go.in autumn/winter be prepared to wear a coat inside the restaurant at certain time periods as it is freezing...and thus the food comes out cold as well...and no point in giving feedback as it is just swept under the carpet...Good luck! What is the point of feedback to.this company as on my last visit I left feedback about some issues and no one bothered contacting me at all to resolve so obviously the company does not care about feedback and listening to complaints

Was seated shortly after the restaurant opened, was greeted and severed by a lovely waitress (Jackie) she was attentive and went the extra mile with my daughter (18months) however the food was average. We waited 30mims + between courses despite it being fairly quiet and waited after having to chase for a high chair and the bill. The food was nice enough but won’t be rushing back.

I regularly visit this Miller and Carter restaurant on special occasions with friends and family as the food is good quality and reasonably priced. This review is for my latest visit in July 2024. We booked the table online because the restaurant is popular and walk-ins can't be guaranteed a table. Although this is primarily a steakhouse, there are several vegetarian and vegan options in all areas of the menu. The reception confirmed we were expected and a friendly server showed us to our table, we were given plenty of time to choose our starter and main courses. I choose a 30 day Angus Steak in a peppercorn sauce medium-well done, fries, croutons with vinegar and lettuce but you can have various alternatives to my choices. All the food was hot and done as requested and tasty. There was variety of classic desserts but I had the Sticky Toffee Pudding a favourite of mine from here. It is a fair size dessert and comes with a choice of cream or ice cream. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone if you are having a meal for 2 or a family occasion.

Fantastic food and designated waiter. Staff a little stressed in background ...but food very delicious. Toilets need sorting out...looking shabby, taps leaking and seats a little broken. Men's was very smelly i was told. Overall a good experience for our celebration 🍾

Food was great; tasty, plentiful and visually appealing. The Chardonnay was not quite to my liking, but I then again I did order a second glass. Good service. Overall I think our meal represented about the right value for money. Have been before a few times, will visit again.

We visit this restaurant regularly, and always get a tasty and well-cooked meal. The pork tomahawk we each had today was delicious, and has been a welcome addition to the set lunch menu. Our waitress Donna was delightful, and turned our meal into a thoroughly enjoyable experience - she is a credit to you!

Second visit to a Miller and Carter this week. The first one was acceptable but not great, but the one in Bexley was excellent!

Our server, Laura, was a star. Helpful, attentive and nothing was too much trouble. Food was exceptional. Considering quality, prices were very reasonable.

Excellent food. Lovely service from Laura, Matt the barman was great also and both were helpful and polite. We also had a voucher which made their 3 course for £20 very reasonable even after cocktails and beers,and 2 floater coffees.

Brought a friend from overseas here for lunch. It was a hot day, no air con on, so they opened the doors. So many flies around our food It put me off. Couldn't relax. Very disappointed. Won't be going back any time soon I'm afraid.

The staff were friendly and welcoming from the minute we walked through the door. The food was excellent and beautifully presented.

Fantastic staff, amazing food especially for the price, as it is an old building it can have an issue with temperatures but overall it is an incredible place and they offer good alternatives for non meat eaters

I had a wonderful dining experience at Miller & Carter Bexley. After driving past this restaurant for over eight years without stopping in, I finally decided to give it a try, and it exceeded my expectations. From the moment I walked in, the staff greeted me warmly. The ambience was delightful, and the decor felt cozy. The food was top-notch, with generous portions, and the service was impressively efficient. I'm already looking forward to my next visit.

Friendly atmosphere, great and deliciously cooked meals although a bit pricey.

Really good steak - would rate higher if I could. Reasonable prices too. Staff were good, atmosphere was fine - nothing special but I can't fault it either!

I booked a table for 12 people in June to celebrate with family. We would love to say a big THANK YOU to Katy, Savannah and Wendy who looked after us the whole evening. We ended up having an extra guest and they accommodated us so well. We all had an enjoyable evening, the food as always was lovely and all came out at the same time. My elderly father who is visually impaired was very well looked after. We would also like to thank the kitchen/bar staff who were great as well.

Lovely atmosphere and very friendly and helpful staff. I have a gluten intolerance and dairy allergy and the waitresses and chefs were extremely helpful with advising what I could eat and were very clued up on cross contamination. Food was delicious!

The food was satisfactory but with some basic drinks unavailable, the visit became memorable for the wrong reasons.

The food was very good. The server needed retraining. I would certainly visit again. The atmosphere was comfortable and relaxed and the whole meal was unhurried and very satisfying.

The restaurant caters well for gluten allergy and other dietary requirements. The food was well cooked and presented. The server was well versed in the script that is obviously repeated for every customer. Unfortunately she then mixed up the allergy meal with one of the others. She also gave the deserts to the wrong people. Forget the verbage unless it's relevant and pay attention to SERVICE.

First time visit to restaurant without a reservation. The menu was very my reasonably priced with a great selection. The staff were very attentive and would most certainly go back again.

I came in last night for my friends birthday. The team went above and beyond. Martha was our waitress. She was amazing. The staff thoroughly checked everything as I have an allergy. We were greeted by a lovely gentleman who I also spoke to on the phone before hand. Also a lady who was at the host point was also very attentive. Exceptional service. Thank you again

It was a first visit to Miller and Carter in a long time, and it didn't disappoint. Staff were friendly and welcoming, and the atmosphere was calm and relaxing. This was proven by our table striking up a conversion showing what a relaxed calming environment it was. The waitresses' service was exploratory, offering recommendations and taking attention to detail. Then the food, wow, the steak melts in your mouth, lobster tails tasty and fresh. It was all very well presented and served hot. Absolutely lovely dining experience.

I have been coming here for for around 20 years and is still one of my favourite restaurants to come too. Service is always excellent and the food is consistently fabulous. Plus a lovely walk around the grounds before and after our visit.

Our host was polite and very attentive. There were a few items not available on the menu but steak was well cooked and sides were excellent. I believe prices are ok compared to other steak houses.

Last visited pre-covid where it had gone downhill a bit. Visiting today with the family and really pleased to say it's back kn top of its game. We're a family of 5, Mum and Dad; two girls 4 and 11, and a son, 8. We were treated early well, seated off ti the side so the kids wouldn't disrupt any other customers but not obviously so. Wait staff were excellent, very attentive, friendly and professional, you couldn't ask for more The food was excellent the Cite du boeuf was fantastic and you have to try the banofee pie for desert.

Updated review for my most recent experience. Maybe because it's a lunchtime and the kitchen is less stretched but the food was better than usual. Steak was cooked well and really tasty, nothing to fault. Sides were okay to good. 5 stars is for the service though - Laura is an absolute gem, she was so friendly and genuine. You should do what you need to do to keep hold of her!
