We were first customers in and bought chips each and a lot of gravy, when we opened and tried them they definitely were not fresh!!! Last night's refry as they were rock hard and horrible we all bombed them

Nice enough inside to sit and eat but the food was awful. Scraggy bits of fish and over cooked chips together with lukewarm tea. Shall not be returning!

Had fish and chips from here and won't do so again. Anaemic, undercooked and oily chips, limp batter and fish that tasted frozen (no idea if it was, it just didn't taste fresh.) There are so many good fish and chip places in Cornwall, but this isn't one of them.

Avoid Just brought a portion of chips , only just warm some was cold. When I buy chips I expect them to be hot Won’t be going back there again 😡

Kind and friendly staff. Really tasty, satisfying food served surprisingly fast and we'll-priced. I can recommend their curry sauce

Came in with my family on Monday while on holiday,very helpful staff,I was on crutches and the lady helped me in,we had two fish and chips, sausage and chips, chicken goujouns and chips and we ate in,all of our meals were outstanding!many thanks 👍

I went to Walker’s Kitchen in Truro centre this evening and it is so much improved . Andrew the Manager was just charming , he greeted all the customers and really engaged , made everyone feel so welcomed . We talked about the changes in Walkers and he was so passionate and spot on about everything, he really is a great Manager to run it . I had stopped going 6 months ago and tonight I was so impressed, the fish and chips are so much more enjoyable . The Staff are friendly and it looks fab inside x Well done Andrew and the team for putting Walkers back on the Truro map .

I was I Truro today so after a 4 and half hour drive I was starving. The first chip shop I saw was this place very traditional looking shop and it's been there for year's. I ordered cod fish and chip and a can of tango £11.50 I think . There was 4 other people waiting for food as well to say it was slow would be a understatement. The food was fresh but you expect chips to be ready and not to be cooked to order fish yes but not chips. So after about a 20 minute wait I finally got my food I was expecting something special but no the chips although piping hot were hard and like rubber the fish was tastles so a very disappointing meal. I do not recommend

Had fishcake & chips, fishcake was over cooked, very greasy & it tasted & smelt "off"! Had 2 small bites & threw it away. Chips were under cooked, some were green & most were just soggy. Made a chip butty out of 1/3 of them, threw the rest away! This morning I have the trots!! Avoid this terrible place (this is not the 1st time!!) as its potentially 'dangerous'!

I think this is under new management. The chap behind the counter is always friendly. The food is great, great portion sizes and fresh fish.

Had a really great F&C + vegan sausage & chip meal here tonight. Impeccably clean restaurant with a bright and pleasant atmosphere. Full of admiration in that just two people working were able to manage the ordering, cooking and service for both the restaurant and takeaway in such a pleasant, friendly manner and with such efficiency. A lovely tasty meal, perfectly cooked and served with genuine kindness… and despite how busy they were there was still time to check if everything was good. It certainly was … VERY good! Thank you. Will be back.

Popped in for some chips before going to the cinema, the service we received was excellent and very efficient. The chips was cooked beautifully and was very crispy and fluffy, the overall experience was top notch and I would highly recommend either takeaway or dine in, they also have some really good offers to take advantage of.

Wow! Perfect crispy yet fluffy chips and such a reasonable price considering the portion size. Greeted with a smile which was lovely. Staff was friendly and welcoming would recommend for anyone looking for high quality and a low price.

My wife and I are great fans of Cornish fish and chips, and Walkers is one of the best experiences in the county. Their lunchtime special of cod, chips, mushy peas, delicious homemade tartare sauce and coffee is a bargain. You could easily pay 30% of the cost for a similar machine-made coffee elsewhere. The fish is perfectly cooked and attention to every detail, including locally sourced condiments, is excellent. Enjoyable eat-in experience at an unregrettable price.

A bit pricey but hands down the best fish and chips I have ever had. Chicken burger was of the highest quality, and chips were cooked in the best way I have ever seen - full of flavour! Service was quick and it was all freshly cooked. Absolutely delicious.

A lady in the nearby charity shop recommended Walkers to us, it’s a short walk away from the town centre but we decided to give it a try, despite a few negative reviews we read. We had cod and chips (pensioner special that came with a mug of tea) and scampi and chips. We really enjoyed our meal, it was freshly cooked, the young lady serving was friendly. We’d definitely return another time.

Popped in for some food before going hall for Cornwall. Been waiting 35 minutes sat in the restaurant. Only two other tables of 2 sat in here. Don’t come here if wanting to be quick.

My daughter and I were in Truro Thursday evening and needed to eat, I suggested Bodega Tapas or Xen noodle bar but she craved fish and chips for some reason (she is 12). We ended up in Walkers and saw a £5 takeaway deal for two small sausages and chips. When I enquired whether we could have that in the restaurant the lady said yes it might be a little bit more though. We ordered two of the same meal, two small sausages and chips, curry sauce and a can. The can was £2.25 and warm, the curry sauce was very tasty but this is where is got me, the lady charged us £5.50 per portion of undercooked chips and not that many of them. I did question whether that was right and she just dismissed me in a patronising manner. When our meals arrived there was no cutlery so I had to wait another five minutes for cutlery. I will be fair, the chips were poor and overpriced but the battered sausage and curry sauce was nice. The whole 28 minutes we were in there, we had 5 or 6 UBER delivery drivers causing a commotion about orders etc. All in all it was a pretty miserable experience, I think the £5 takeaway deal would be the best option if you or your children craved fish and chips. Very disappointing. Don’t waste your time eating £5.50 chips in the restaurant.

Really disappointed. Went to get fish and chips last night. Haddock portion was good. Cod was not! Long lump of batter and small square of cod which was dry with no large flakes of fish. Good portion of chips but maybe 8-10 that were square cut and decent the rest were bits and pieces, dry and inedible. Won't be going again. Chap on the counter was friendly.

You can't go wrong with sausage 'n' chips, and Walker's didn't disappoint. Spotlessly clean restaurant, very friendly staff, and a very tasty meal.

Called in this chippy for a portion of chips. Chips were tasty but for £3 for a tiny box with a few chips in it, I didn't feel it was value for money unfortunately and was disappointed. Wouldn't return for this reason. Also, the young guy that served me the chips looked dead miserable and no smile whatsoever. This visit hasn't left me with a good impression unfortunately.

I came in at 8:30 (they close at 9), it was empty and quiet, service was okay. I ordered some regular chips and they cost £3, so not too bad. The chips themselves tasted average and the portion size was quite small. Nothing spectacular but maybe this is because it was nearly closing time, I'd probably try again earlier in the day and order something else off the menu like cod. I'll update my review once I've done so.

Small portion and very sub standard chips.

This is the first time that we have been to this restaurant, I can't fault it. It's really close to a car park so no hiking through town. The food is cooked to order and delicious. Highlanes chippy in Hayle has a brilliant reputation and this chippy is easily at the same standard. Every thing is spotless, the staff very attentive and made sure that we had everything that we needed. We will be recommending this eatery to all of our friends. The fish was especially good, just like it was caught that day.Give them a try!

I am fairly disappointed with my order as I didn't receive my change, and there were some uncooked lumps in the chips. To add, we were unable to tell which portion was with vinegar and which was not. The curry sauce was extremely runny with not too much flavour. We were told we couldn't sit down and eat either, making us walk in the rain. However, there were lots of chairs and tables?

I visited Walkers last night. I was driving a a minibus load of pensioners. 14 women and 2 men. Who's average age was 76. If anyone can please and satisfy that lot they have to be VERY GOOD. I had 2 Complaints, 1 it was too much to eat and 2 why have we not been before. ( they want to go back. Every thing was clean, the staff friendly, food was freshly cooked and most importantly the Loo was spotless. Everyone was happy. Well done WALKERS.

We had take away from here last night, it was poor and we won’t go back sadly. Food was cold and staff disinterested. Regular portion of chips contained 10 chips and the large was only slightly bigger! The cheeseburger had no cheese in it. We had to stop and get more chips from another chippy on the way home. Overall a compete rip off, when it used to be so good 😔

Wanted to order small sausage and chips only to be informed they don’t do small portions. However, the customer after me ordered the same and was given it. I also ordered beans that were still on the menu and was yet again informed they no longer beans.

I go here with a disabled client I work with The entrance is a little snug for wheelchair access, but the staff are always at Jan's to help us! We always have one meal and 2 plates, to sit in and share it. As my client can't eat a full portion The staff are always accommodating with our requests Plenty of seating indoors and always good space for a wheelchair when we visit Delicious fresh cooked fish, nice chips too!! Waiting in queue, observed young guy serving wipe his nose on the back of his hand 3 times. He then wiped his nose in his fingers and continued to serve! I asked if he was going to wash his hands as we're not going to stay to purchase food and walked out. Management needs to get him trained ASAP before environmental health visit.

Quality of food was average to good - nothing special but the portion size was pathetic. I’ve seen larger children meals! Service and atmosphere was good but no one bothered to ask how my meal was. Cod & Chips with a black coffee was 20p short of £15! I’ve been 3 to 4 times before and the portion size was much more generous but this will be my last visit - I feel robbed!

We ordered pie and chips and cod roe and chips for my wife. My wife's opinion is the roe was the worst she has ever eaten.The roe was very thinly sliced the batter was soggy and tasteless. The chips were undercooked.The pie was acceptable

went in just as they opened,greeted with old food/chips on the floor in the dining area.not a good start-obviously couldn't be bothered sweeping up from yesterday.lad who took our order was distant,unfriendly and scruffy.hadn't a clue on offers or deals.eventually offered us a pensioners deal presuming we were!! food arrived.no sauces /missing condiments on table.he didn't bring us any new ones-we were told to get some from another table!! we both had cod and chips.my fish was rock solid underneath.rest was ok.lot of tiny bits in chips-ie not chips. toilet was ok,clean and all working. not been in here for a while and it looks like new staff/owners? are in charge.woman was on her phone as we left by the friers-hope there's plenty of handwashing going on-keypads are rife with bacteria.lad who served us rarely spoke and never asked if we had enjoyed our meal etc.having spent nearly £26 the whole experience was a total let down-things have certainly slipped since our last visit and it will be unlikely we will be in a hurry to come back. i noticed there were no scores on the doors displayed anywere which shows a lack of confidence in the business by the current owners or a low score from the most recent visit.you aren't obliged to put the ratings on display but it would be nice to see the score they got. all round improvements needed and stop taking your customers for granted.customer service needs vast improvement in all areas.i just hope the owners/staff read these reviews and take notice/action. better experience by far at the st austell branch.

The gentlemen who served me was very polite and helpful, the young lady frying was frying whilst scrolling on her mobile which was a first! The chips was nice as it was cooked to order, the sausages was not good at all hard push to give the sausages a 1 out of 10.

Terrible place, called in for something to eat where we, 4 off us, could sit down and enjoy fish and chips. 1st problem was the lady behind the counter charged us takeaway prices despite saying we wanted to eat in. Then she refused to allow us to eat in despite the restaurant being empty. No customers.. Never offered us to pay the extra to eat in just told us we had only paid takeaway prices and had to leave. 2nd problem after getting back in the car and finding a layby nearby the chips were coated in grease and the cod bites are the worst I've ever seen or eaten. Flat as pancakes and the inside off-colour. Not the pure white I expect when having Cod. All 4 meals ended up in bin Will never return.

Asked to sit in, she said yes, then asked what we would like to eat, placed our order, paid and sat down, looking over smiling, she proceeds to wrap out food up, when asked to put on plates to eat in, she said she can't as she charged us take out prices, becuase when at a the till there's a massive sign with the menu on, I'm not happy with the service and then to tip it off the food is fit for the bin, waste of £35 and a family still hungry,

I sadly had my meal from walkers today, all food went in the bin, they were reheated, they had been blanched I was told, obviously massively over blanched, cold and greasy , look at the photo… spot the ‘chips’ … disgraceful… definitely do not recommend AT ALL …

Officially worst chip shop chips in living memory. Fried, re fried, oil possibly 4 days old. Can still taste the oil after 2 hours. Infuriated. Last year in Newquay i had to write a review as had a really poor quality fish and chips, here we are this officially wins the title. Chips was re cooked at least 2 times.. Cod was chunky but the batter not crispy and crunchy and soggy. Fish i asked for large possible 200 gram of cod would give the fish a 6.5. Just battered totally wrong. Soggy Chips dripping in Oil. Mushy peas portion must be 100 grams. I have family in the fish and chips industry makes me want to set up shop here and wipe out such competition. Terrible, terrible. Staff was not trained adequately. Served by poorly trained staff Somebody has just clearly purchased this business employing cheap labour and not caring about the business. Pitty!

I came in the other day for some food and all i can say is it was the worst decision ever…. I ordered myself a fish and chips and i mean the proof is in the pudding (picture). The food i had just looked so sad and disgraceful, poor thing had to be chucked away what a waste of money!!! I also had a pie on the side and after my fish and chips incident i thought it couldn’t get worse… how i was so wrong. At first glance it looked okay until i cut it open, and what looked like alien body fluids oozed out! utterly disgusting. i felt sick by this site and decided it’s for the best this food goes in the bin where it will be much more enjoyed by LDPE surrounding rather than my stomach lining. disgusting, disappointed and i highly disapprove!!! We wanted to try this place and had a mixed reaction. The fish- we had cod and haddock - were fresh and tasted great. The chips - were too oily and could not have more than a little. The pie - the filling was delicious but the pie crust was undercooked. The curry sauce - was delicious and well seasoned. The service was great and they were friendly and packed everything very well.

We had three specials. Cod was nice chips I would say where slightly undercooked but overall not terrible. My dad's fish was more batter than fish but mine was alright. Bit of a wait to take our order considering we were first in for lunch.

If the chips are cooked all the way through, then it's my favourite in Truro. However, my last batch was brown and crispy on the outside and hard uncooked potato on the inside. Hopefully, my next batch will be cooked chips, also great opening hours so can be extremely convenient.

Well, where does one start! I popped in last night for standard fish and chips ( £9.95!) it has to be good at that price doesn’t it. The worst ever fish and chips, small ( very) portion soggy chips and batter when squeezed oozed oil! Consigned to the bin. I’m not sure if this is the same as the other Walkers place I’ve visited in the past ( (the one near TK max and the record shop that was). That was indeed very good and very efficient. I know we live in a techie age but I didn’t think we were quite ready for automatons to be serving food just yet. Ghastly! I normally always give a second chance , but putting a tenner in a bin theses days is a bridge too far.

Popped in Saturday evening at 7pm (they close at 9.30pm) hoping to sit in for food. Was told the seating area was closed, take away only. The young lad then told us they didn’t have any cod bites and no beans. Will not go back, not a way to run a business with missing menu items on a Saturday night!

I come here alot and normally they serve a decent sized piece of white fish. Last night was a tiny child's sized portion of awful grey coloured mushed up fish. Really thick greasy chips, that just sat in a mound in the tray. A sad meal for a tenner. I've just read a shocking rude response from the owner to a review from a West Midland visitor. You can't run a business like that. Judging from all the s*** reviews they cant all be wrong. I will never return, although seems the owner care about that anyway 😃

Ripped off faster than a sympathetic plaster. A 4 inch long piece of battered fish for £9.50, only discovered when we got home. If I could be bothered wasting time going back there I'd demand my money back, but I'll never be going back. The chip portions were just as bad. Go to Charlies, they're the best.

Work for West Midlands ambulance service. I’m from Birmingham and had a nice long drive to drop a patient off so decided to get fish and chips just before our nice long drive home. We ordered 2 fish and chips which cost upwards of £10 each and they were the size of a mini fish and chips which was not stated. We sat down waiting for our food as we had been in the ambulance for 5hours and wanted a change of scenery to then be told it’s £4 extra if you want to sit in. There wasn’t any other customers in the chippy so I’m unsure what the harm was to sit in but instead we had to eat the food on the ambulance as there is nowhere to sit around the restaurant. Chips were stale but fish was alright wouldn’t go back

I visited this fish and chip shop on Sunday with a friend before going to the cathedral for Christmas service,we sat in to eat and both the chap cooking and the girl serving were lovely,very friendly and welcoming and couldn't do enough for us,prices are reasonable and the meals were lovely and thoroughly enjoyed,I would definitely recommend this place and will be returning whenever I am in truro x

Fish was discusting, asked for it to be left In fryer longer. That was ignored so wasn't crispy at all, a soggy mess. The chips were white and soggy also and black in every chip. Never again. This place needs workers that can cook..

Got curry sauce, chips and battered sausage, ovrrall price was OK but curry sauce portion was a disgrace for the price and only half full. Chips ok and sausage just ok.

Definitely not worth the 1 star. Went as it was the only chippie open on a Sunday. Never again £16. The sausages were burnt. The cod was thin, slimy and didn’t taste like cod although sold as cod. The batter was thick and hard on the outside and raw in the middle and super greasy. The fat was running off it. The portion of chips was super tiny the only redeeming thing was the curry sauce (which i heard the girl said needed to be microwaved) was good. Wish I had read the reviews and saved my hard earned cash. Won’t be visiting again

Just ordered 2 fish 1 chips, when i got home to eat couldn't believe the size!!! Smaller than a kids meal cost £17!! Would never use again...

Good service from the staff and great fish and chips

This used to be the only chip shop we would use in truro. We will now be looking for a new one. The fish looked like someone had stamped on it along with being the portion size for a young child and the chips were appalling! I don't often leave reviews but this needed to be said.

We decided to have fish and chips and go out to Boscowen park with the grand kids. We live locally and was shocked at the size of large fish and chips. Literally a handful of chips!!. The price of £30 for two large fish and chips and a portion with two sausages for the kids is poor when you get so few chips. If I was at home I would have weighed them out!! Poor value for money

Worst fish & chips I’ve ever had 🤮 the batter was soggy, thick, orange & stuck to the paper, the chips looked anaemic & actually weren’t cooked (raw potato, lovely)! & the person who served me didn’t even ask if I wanted salt & vinegar, he just put it on anyway. Just awful - bought 5 kids meals and 2 cod and chips for almost £50 but was meant to be a treat for a special day. Sausages were almost burnt and inedible and cod was the most awful I have ever tasted. Oily outer batter and raw (still liquid) batter on the inside. Chips were undercooked and hard. Fish and chips was nice enough, if a little expensive but that’s probably par for the course now in terms of price. Big enough portion too. Slightly disappointed with staff attitude though, not far off being rude.

Yuck. £10.25 for two portions of chips and bottle of coke. Chips were mush, not cooked and tastes nasty. When I was shocked at the price the server got attitude. I'd cheese grate my sack rather go back there. All this, thrown away and I have three hungry kids.
