Food took ages ordered at 5 didn’t leave till 6 food was cold and a lot of flies overall js not a good place.

Asked & paid for a large chips was waiting 20 minutes then to be given a medium box of chips. Not going back.

Ordered on the phone told ten minutes wasn't ready when I got there ,served two people before me I think they forgot me until I spoke up food was cold the portion size was ridiculous £2.60 for a small I have seen more chips in a cone for a £1 run by kids will definitely not be returning discussed

Ran by children. Nothing is ever ready anymore. Sausage and chips? That'll be a 15min wait.

Best fish and chips in Cornwall by a country mile.

A must go whenever I am in the area. Chips cooked in dripping and the milkshakes made of Kellys Clotted Cream.

It's a take away? So take your food and drink and eat somewhere else

Could only describe as disgusting ordered 2 medium fish and chips 1 small fish and chips .got 3 small fish chips were dripping in fat .curry sauce like water .only thing that was full after tea was the bin ☹.

Meal ordered for 1830, but stood in a queue for nearly 20 minutes. Appalling service, wish I'd gone to cousin Jack's.

What a difference a year makes pre ordered for 1830 still had to wait 5* FOOD HYGIENE RATING but a baby stair gate from the flat to the back door for the dog to use. Back door open and hair and other bits to be blown through on to the food.

Meal ordered at 5pm they said ready in 15 minutes, 1 medium Cod, 1Medium chips and four plain sausages. I arrived at 5:16, and still had to wait for a further 15 minutes for my order to be prepared. On getting home I found the smallest Medium Cod fillet ever. Have to go elsewhere in future.

This visit was outstanding, brilliant fish and chips, lovely young fryer behind the counter, all staff were young but brilliant. There was a girl at the front serving who looked new as she did not have uniform but she was so welcoming and efficient. Would 100% recommend a visit, our food was cooked to perfection, me and my husband will definitely be coming again

Fish was very good, chips very dry, tasted like second or third frying. When we have fish and chips this is our goto shop, might have to try another outlet

On visiting the shop last night the batter on the fish was very pile and needed to be cooked more chips was warmed up and peas hard .I have been coming to the shop for fish and chips for a long time .younger s running the shop to busy chatting. When phoning up the person who answered my call did not have seem as if she cared just I will take on board. One very disappointed customer.

I go there to get my tea and the staff are friendly and they also have a smile on their faces and they are kind and the service is fantastic

My family have been using the Beacon Fish Shop for over 10 years, but the last 12 months it as definitely gone down hill, the last 4 times we have had them this year the quality of fish is poor and batter oily and greasy , chips are same, and even after phoning order through and being told ready in half hour have to wait quite awhile, I know this is difficult times but that should not effect the product.

My mum and I get fish and chips from this place once or twice a month when I visit. The team in store is always friendly and smiling, the food is consistently delicious and we never have to wait very long. They offer some very well priced 'meal deals' like pie and chips for £4.50. I have been especially impressed by the extra hygiene measures put in place to protect the customers and staff during the Coronavirus pandemic and have felt completely safe and confident ordering food throughout this problematic period. Beacon is very lucky to have such an excellent local chippy, which I highly recommend.

Best fish and chips I've ever tasted and has been my number one place to go to for over 20 years now. It must be the oil they use because restaurants and other chippies don't come anywhere near this place.

Every time I’m come here I always get a lovely welcome from the young lady on the counter I come into the store on Tuesday and service was great and excellent Food 10 out of 10

I have been using this chip shop for years but the last few times I'd noticed the food went downhill with tonight reaching an all time low. We were the only customers but it still took 20 minutes for our order of 3 standard items. The frying staff were too busy messing about to concentrate on preparing quality food. The chips had been refried so many times they were dark brown and chewy and we couldn't eat them at all. I'm sad to say that unfortunately after using them for years I would rather go hungry than return.

Had fish chips and peas today ,it was gorgeous ,chips lovely and moist ,not dried up like some places .Will be back x

Ordered two standard fish and chips, once home, and opened boxes, one was a standard piece and one was the size of fish finger. Very dissapointed. Won't visit again as it's twice it has happened.

My husband had fish chips a beans and for 8 pound it was so small will not be going there again

I went for fish and chips for our family tea last night thursday the 5th march , the shop was being run by some young girls who had gotten over whelmed with he orders they were processing , i arrived at 6-45 and left at 7-30 , i had 2 large cod some battered sausages large chips and curry sauce , after that long wait i was starving but was unable to eat the food , the sausages were barely cooked and the fish was very watery poor quality and no taste. Everything was swimming in grease

Last Friday 22nd I had a delicious large fish & small chips which were beautifully cooked. The fish was moist and batter perfect with plenty of chips.

Just had fish & chips from Beacon chip shop. Fish over cooked so dry and mostly batter. Chips were lukewarm. Curry sauce has an unusual taste and very watery. Definitely not worth the price. Fish is usually much better than this!

We had a takeaway after being out for the day the fish was very average but the chip were lovely had to wait 20 minutes for our fish ☹️

Probably the worst fish and chips that we have had for a while, along with the worst customer service. On arrival, we ordered and the staff cooked part of our order, which they then left on the side, whilst they cooked and served all of the people coming in behind us. Finally, they got around to cooking the rest of our order, I asked to check the food that had been cooked previously, which was obviously stone cold - when I informed the staff that it was cold, the response was basically 'well, what do you want us to do about it!'. There wasn't really anything that could be done at this stage, as the staff had decided to close the shop, there were no more chips and if they had cooked more nuggets and fritters (the part of the order that was cold), everything else would have been cold! In hindsight, we should just have cut our losses at that point and requested a refund, but as it was, agreed that they could return the nuggets to the fryer. Having returned home, all but the fish was mostly inedible - chips were cold and greasy, curry sauce was missing, nuggets and fritters were still cold and the top of my pie needed a sledge hammer to break through the crust. Apparently, the fish was actually quite nice. Expensive waste of money, abominable service and the two staff on duty were obviously too young and inexperienced to have been left in charge on their own. Avoid

Unfortunately the chips aren't as good now, had an undercooked fish and overcooked saveloys (deep fried rather than boiled) previously... most of the staff has changed... not so attentive and very slow service ... I've stuck in there hoping it was just a glitch... apparently not after a few more visits ...never again!!

Food was okay, hired staff were lovely and worked hard serving people when really busy. Giving one star because of the disgusting behaviour of the owner towards the staff, she was very rude and judged them with everthing they was doing. Made the staff nervous and uncomfortable when working and also shocked the customers with the way she spoke/treated them. Needs to learn how to treat staff properly especially when they are at a younger age!!-.- 17/11/18

The chips were very nice. It was a long wait though. I don't know if it always is or weather I was just unlucky. I had a couple of saveloys, both of which were way too over cooked.

I use to like the fish and chips, unfortunately now the chips aren't so so good and very slow service since theyve changed staff! Chippy down the road now.

Heard mixed reviews about this place and usually go to another place but as it's closer to where I live I decided to give it a go. Portion size was excellent value - I couldn't eat it all! Plus the food didn't seem to leave such an oily after taste in my mouth compared to my usual place. Will more than likely return here from now on if it's that standard again

Happy friendly, inexpensive fast service............But all would be good if the chips were not over cooked, the savaloys were not cremated in cooking oil. Quality of food was terrible, very low for quality and value. Will never be going back.

Este es mi chips local y no puedo decir honestamente que es bueno. Es touch and go como el nivel. Un día las patatas fritas serán preciosas y al día siguiente pueden asquerosa, pasada y un color quemado. Ahora el "fish and chips" ha pasado de la envoltura comidas a poner en cajas que no tienes media tanto como usted solía por el mismo precio. La tienda está siempre limpio y el personal es siempre amable, así que no puedo golpear el lado de pero no tiene que trabajar en mantener una calidad constante.

Bacalao y patatas fritas. Precio razonable, muy amable y eficiente, pero no era de mi gusto. Un poco de pescado seco recocido y para mi gusto, aunque admito que prefiero mina bajo un minuto de cocinado normal, pero chips parecían estar congelados o refritos, pero no estoy seguro.

Me quedé decepcionado por mi bacalao y patatas fritas desde aquí. Todo era correcto excepto por el bateador, que era pesado con grasa y me pareció bastante comestible. Práctico si viven cerca de campo. El menú parece demasiado grande para mí y creo que podría concentrarse en la calidad. Les deseo lo mejor y espero que yo tuve mala suerte.

Para el té como pasó por hambrientos, servicio amable por todas las mujeres de allí, feliz y alegre, pukka y patatas son preciosas, por desgracia la hamburguesa tenía absolutamente muerto en la carretera. Era cocinado bien y era ensalada fresca, sin embargo si la imagen debe ser como la comida. Mac es lo suficientemente mala d hacerlo. Feliz con el resto de la comida y si sirve hamburguesas de carne adecuada sería un 5. Las patatas fritas son una maravilla y todo lo demás. Volveremos pero no tener una hamburguesa desde allí.

Metimos en la última noche, ya que pasó a estar en el pueblo y hambre. Patatas fritas estamos probablemente el mejor que he probado nunca, pero el pescado estaba seco y duro, lo cual fue una pena, ya que no había mucha gente, pero más preocupados con la limpieza y ir a casa. Mi local Chippy tiene un temporizador y cada vez que pone el pescado en la freidora que prensas, así cada vez que el pescado está perfectamente preparado podría valer la pena la inversión?

Visitamos un par de semanas, y patatas fritas de pescado de noche. La chica de la recepción para servir, era muy amable y educado. Las patatas fritas estaba buenísimo, el pescado era encantador. Deberían dejar las cajas, y volver a terminando en papel. No hay un montón de espacio para muchas patatas fritas cuando tener grandes porciones. Además, aún no niveladores :)

Went here for fish and chips whilst on holiday in Cornwall. Had to go to tesco in Camborne so made sense to go to this one and although not many reviews was 5* on here. Staff were very friendly but large cod wasn't very large, chips tasted horrid and mum and dad had plaice and said that wasn't very nice either. Will not be visiting again but will have to try preeze-an-beeble one right near where we are staying.

Best around for miles always hot and crispy batter on white cod flakes ,chips are hot and cooked lovely and full of flavour and no grease !!! The peas are home made and just like mother used to make, they are soaked and cooked on the premises. I also asked. Excellent value and always a pleasure to go there the staff are so helpful, well done!!!!

Absolutely perfection when it comes to fish and chips, prices and staff ... The chips are fried in beef dripping (I asked) lovely and brown and properly cooked, and the fish is great, staff very friendly together with the reasonable prices, I can't praise this shop and it's staff enough, best I've ever had (and I've had a few Inc a certain expensive over hyped company in Padstow) I'm on a diet, but it's going to be hard with this shop just down the road! Phil
