Ordered a burger and chips and 2 battered sausages and chips and a curry sauce. Get home and no bloody sausages. Tall lad serving up “you’ve got one job ffs!”

Good quality, freshly cooked fish and chips, at a fair price. Portion sizes were on the large side, had standard fish and chips which was more than enough. I suggest only tackle large if very hungry or sharing with somebody !

Well speak as you find, our first visit, didn't disappoint the best fish and chips we've had for a long time, great quality proper size portion and great value for money, keep it up we are regulars from now on !! 👍

been using Ians place for the last 2 years howe and the food has always been piping hot and cooked fresh, The portion sizes are very good and would say if you get a large chips it will serve 2 adults. Very busy most days and super busy on a Friday but worth the wait

I'm not usually a fan of fish and chips, but this 'plaice' might change my mind! Batter on the fish was beautiful and chips were divine. Staff were friendly and clearly enjoyed working together as a team to ensure fast service. Would highly recommend!

Great tasty food and friendly staff. Very busy busy.(parking nearby can be a bit of an issue) Small shop, so good system in place of only two in at a time to order and given a number to wait outside till order is called. Full marks for keeping the orders coming out asap.

Best chips in SE Cornwall imho. Used to have them every week when I worked in school over the road. Very popular with the locals and not over priced

These fish & chips are good and the service is great, but the portion sizes seem to have dropped significantly recently and tonight’s was too small and was a disappointment.

Visiting mum and dad, I live in Hampshire where we have the best fish & chip shop in the world (Marts, Farnborough in case you’re ever up that way) and let me tell you, Ians fish & chips were on a par. Massive “regular” chips and a whopping great piece of cod. Good battered sausage and lovely curry sauce - my only quibble is that there wasn’t enough sauce. Good value for money from what my dad said and just down the road from them so win/win.

If you’re looking for Fish & Chips in Liskeard honestly look no further!! Absolutely beautiful!! In my 3 weeks staying in Liskeard I sadly only used in twice, the reason being the ‘other’ chippy in town put me off!! This is the only place to go….fresh fish cooked to order and the chips were bloody beautiful! Top marks from me 💜

First time here, and it won't be the last. Had large fish and chips, and was very pleased. Served by a polite and friendly young lady, the fish was lovely and the batter crispy. I would easily recommend Ian's Plaice.

1st time visit. Prices were not as expensive as I'd expected. Regular, not too fussy menu. Good banter with the staff. They seem to have a good time at work. Be back soon.

After reading the reviews we thought how bad can it be really. Cant be worse then our local chippy. Tell you what people i suspect that they sacked a member of staff who then got his family and mates to leave some of the negative reviews as we really enjoyed it. When you order a large you expect a large and they don't disappoint! And as a fatty i couldn't eat it all.The fish was fresh and huge and the batter was light and crisp. The chips were real potatoes and not frozen chips and there was alot. The staff were friendly too. Our local chippy you get a bit of fish and are left thinking what shape fish did that come from,and then it taste like a Tasmanian flip flop. This was a great bit of cod ! Give it a go people !

I was really looking forward to my first fish and chips in cornwall. Looking at reviews thought i was on to a winner. Well i was really disappointed, chips were really leathery and had a chemical tast about them. The cod was nowhere near a large as ordered, and if fresh cooked was done in less than three minutes! I am not a moaner for moan sake but i wont be going back. This is my local chippy so am gutted!

This is actually the best chippy I can think of and it's always the first that comes to mind for cheap, tasty or quick bites to eat. I live in the local area and it's an absolute blessing to have Ians plaice in my town as it helps me to eat while not splurging all my cash and it still brings me a yummy treat everytime. Love you Ian.

Rude staff oil needed changing round about January

Went here whilst on holiday. Had no other choice , only chip shop about. Wish I had read the reviews first! Fish dry, batter soggy and greasy. The biggest chip i had was the size of my little finger nail . Was first in at opening time and expected fresh, was definitely leftovers from god knows when.

Well, where do I start - Late opening (445), - Rude staff - One member of staff wearing a wolly hat in food prep area. - Over cooked chips - Had to wait outside once ordered - Over priced - 4 members of staff 2 of which louttering around doing nothing

Firstly chips are lovely. If you order them with cheese then that's a big hit. Everything else is a problem though. Whatever you want with your chips tastes like fish. If you want fish and chips then I guess that's not a problem. However if you want a sausage or a burger then it's fish flavour all the way! Also I found the burgers had a sort of gritty texture to them, I have no reason I can think of to explain that but it was more than once I experienced that. It's not a bad chippy if you like fish, or just chips.

By far the best fish and chips in Liskeard and probably SE Cornwall. Great value, great service, good portions and tasty product.

Always get orders wrong - up to about 8 times and counting now for me, and no phone number to complain when you get home and find this out. Check your order before leaving the shop!

Seems to be the only fish and chips in the area which is a shame as I don't think I have tasted a worse piece of fish. Batter tastes horrible and the fish is really dry. Chips taste like they are made from really old potatoes. Really didn't want to eat here after reading the reviews but no where else to go. So disappointed with this not worth the money at all.

Very poor. Order incorrect, fish dry, chips clearly reheated and bland. God knows why its always so busy. You have to travel to Looe for decent chips. Hope Coddy Shack is back up and running soon.

Had me usual...cod no chips. And as per usual batter was lovely, really crunchy but not overdone. Decent size portion. When I do have chips, quite often they're perfect.

Great portion size of regular chips and regular fish. Not greasy at all. Recycable cardboard containers used too.. which is brilliant!

We had a choice of 2 fish and chip shops in the area. The first one smelt odd and there were some strange people hanging around outside, so we came here. Have to say, not bad, reasonable portions. Unfortunately no saveloy. OK fish and chips. Not the absolutely best ever fish and chips, but wasn't disappointed. Was expecting a little bit better as Cornwall. Had better in a big city. But OK. Got the order right. Staff a mixture, very friendly and efficient. Portion sizes were massive. We ordered an extra chips but couldn't finish it all. Overall, is satisfactory grub. Parking outside. And a lot more people ordering

The food is awful. My cod was virtually all batter with very little fish and very overdone. The chips were totally tasteless, leathery, hard, almost inedible and looked as if they had been sitting on the side for hours despite apparently everything being "cooked to order". Avoid.

We live locally and often use them, unfortunately the last couple of times the chips have been disgusting, they tasted like they were cooked yesterday and then reheated. Just horrible and chewy chips. And they always mess up the order, I don’t have salt and vinegar but they often put it on anyway.

Bought fish and chips here few years ago vowed never to go there again but the one in Liskeard has closed so with arm up my back we went back again hoping he's upped his game NO CHANCE, The fish was cold and no taste watery not fresh. The chips were so hard you could bend them and they didn't break the whole lot went in the bin. DISGUSTING. AVOID. MUST WRITE HIS OWN GOOD REVIEWS.CHIPS ARE REHEATED SURE OF IT.

Three weeks in a row the chips have been bad !!like chewing rubber and under cooked ..the standard has dropped off..the only chip shop in Liskeard ..what has happened??..

Disapointed £21.00 i would say the worst chips i have ever tasted they tasted of mould may be a bad batch of potatoes ( positive points) the sausages were 10 out of 10 the fish i would rate fresh however very thin rate fish 5 out 10

Even the gherkins were soft. Was so looking forward to this but was hugely disappointed. The waste bin did well though. avoid

He told me "that is the way things are done now," and when I pointed out that Covid restrictions ended last year and that even Hospitals and Surgeries do not require masks anymore, he walked off!

Short drive from our home to get the fish and chips. Fish batter was crisp and the fish was cooked well. The chips were delicious.

Closes at 7,30pm although when I attended at 7:20pm I was told they had finished cooking and only had chip or a sausage.

Please don't waste your money or time visiting this establishment. Driving back from Newquay decided to stop here for fish and chips. Bad choice !!!!!! Inedible food, tasteless, not fresh and soggy. Saw lots of people outside, which normally is a good sign, apparently not. Wouldn't use again.

Saw the queue while passing through Liskeard and remembered the old maxim about a visible queue being a sign of a decent chippy. Thought I'd stop. Surely this many people can't be wrong, I thought. Oh dear. What eventually materialised was the worst offering from a chip shop I've ever had the misfortune to cross taste buds with and lose to. The fish was so burnt and crispy and dry that I was unsure whether it was a cod or a digestive biscuit. I was in two minds whether to eat it or whether to repair the soles of my shoes with it. The sausages looked like props from a bad sci fi film and tasted as bad as they looked. Chips were slimy, greasy and vile. Whole lot ended up in the bin after three mouthfuls. I've read some reviews slating the staff but that was actually the high point as I found them friendly enough. Shame they can't cook though.

Awful food... When food finally did arrive it was brought outside by some rude person who just grunted at us Then we found our food to be the wrong order Food was greasy and very unappetising Absolutely grim.

Been for fish and chips this evening after being a work all day , to receive fish obviously from lunch time dry cold and over cooked absolutely disgusting, we need another chippy in liskeard give them competition to improve what they are dishing up

Over the years, this fish and chip shop has had a few different owners, with varying quality of food. This is the first time I have visited Ian's Plaice, and have to say, the quality of food was excellent. fresh and not too greasy. The batter was thin and crispy Definitely visit the next time I am in Liskeard!

Reasonably priced and pretty good quality. Using a sensible 1 customer in at a time system and bringing your food out to collect outside. It was very busy when we went and the parking can be a bit of a nightmare but as it's the only chippy in Liskeard, if you want F&c then this is your only option.

Been there a few times, since the one in the town has closed. There chips are never very hot and Very anemic. You go and pick up a chip and it Bends over and Completely mushy no crunch whatsoever. Won't be going back

Haven’t had proper chips like this since they wrapped them in newspaper. We go at least once a week now. Never had a bad one. Just delicious, light and crisp not fatty.

Used to go in here every time we were in the area and they were the best chips ever! ... went in yesterday and I don't know if it was a blip but the chips tasted musty and not good at all... shame as we were very impressed with the covid regs being adhered to and the chips looked good but just didn't taste good at all... sure the seagulls have enjoyed them as we couldn't eat them

Social distancing system works well. Fish was taken from pre-cooked cabinet so not fresh but it was tasty and cooked well akthough the batter was a bit soggy. Chips were good. Price was good value.

my wife got there at 19.30 and staff said no fish!!! not happy.dissipointed really its on web site says 20.30.But they shut 20.00 ok if its for covid why they dont change time?? on we site.its confusing us.

Just so you all know, they don't let people who has an exemption card or tag in the shop, they let others who arnt are!! Total discrimination to people who have disabilities!!

been few times now but on this occasion i orderd my food doubled checked with them also what i ordered when i got home the large fish ans chips had no fosb in it had a very upset boy over this so basically paid 6.30...
