We don’t use this cafe often because the service is always painfully slow. This morning it was quiet so my husband chose the sausages in a roll. For almost £5 there were three small halves of sausage in it. Pitiful. Really poor vfm. Staff were all busy at the counter so couldn’t feedback in person. Despite shopping at Waitrose weekly I’m not sure we’ll bother using the cafe again.

Popped into Waitrose for a coffee with a friend. The coffee was good but the experience was spoiled by the state of the ladies toilets. Too small, very worn out, smelly and unhygienic. Not what you'd expect of Waitrose. There was a sodden filthy absorbent pad under the dyson hand drier. The sink areas have worn patches and the loos just stank ugh.

Slow service. Depressingly inept. Customers on next table had 2 identical hot dished served at different times because the assistant said that the oven wouldn't fit both at the same time. How on earth can this be acceptable in a busy cafe? Our coffee was just about acceptable, but certainly couldn't be classed as hot. On a slightly more upbeat note my husband said his almond pastry was "nice"

Been a customer and Waitrose card holder since it first opened. We Grocery shop at least once a week and always have a cup of Coffee and quick bite before making our way home. It is so sad to see the way the Cafe has gone downhill over the years. It has gone from free coffee for card holders to free coffee when purchasing something to eat to its present rubbish offer of a reduced price sugar laden bun/tart/croisant. The Gents Toilet is an absolute disgrace. When the store was refurbished some presumably highly paid whizz kid decided that the gents urinals should be reduced from two to one, one Urinal for a supposedly high class store. The one Urinal is constantly out of use and this week had a bucket underneath it, OMG how are the mighty fallen. The Urinal setup is very cosy insofar as you can chat with the chap that has just used the Urinal and is now washing his hannds in the one washbasin situated about a foot away from where you are doing your business.Do any of the very highly paid bosses ever visit this store and use the dreadful toilet facilities?

I've been to a Waitrose cafe several times and I think it lacks atmosphere. The whole cafe area looks bland from the seating and counter areas The food doesn't look appetising to me, it doesn't look healthy or interesting. I'm really sorry Waitrose to be so negative. The cafe is always full so other customers must like it. Waitrose is such a lovely supermarket and they could sell such delicious food in their cafe.

Things had deteriorated here since my last visit, which was some months ago. The menu choices had been reduced - no meals at lunchtime any longer, only baked potatoes, toasties etc. The staff were friendly and attentive, but for an organisation that considers itself high-end, as Waitrose does, it falls short. Nothing is actually *bad*, but things could be a lot better. For instance, the only menu listing in the place is on a series of boards high on the wall behind the self-service area, so if you want to know what is on offer, you have no choice but to go right down to the far end to read those boards. And of course, to do so, you have to get in the way of people who are selecting their food and/or queueing to pay. The menu itself is serviceable but nothing special: it's just like any supermarket cafe but every item has something balsamic or wholegrain or vaguely Italian-sounding added to it. The very first thing on the menu, a sausage roll, was off. But the board had not been amended. And for some bizarre reason they were also referring to a sausage sandwich as a sausage roll - cue obvious confusion. Seating is adequate, decor virtually non-existent - though there are large plate glass windows all along one side which offer a nice view of the car park and, beyond that, to Cornish hills. Wheelchair access reasonable: level, and by removing a chair it was an easy job to park my wife's wheelchair at a comfortable height at a table. Then began the commute from our table to the menu boards to work out what she wanted to eat. The food itself was underwhelming. Potato and leek soup was an odd colour that suggested neither vegetable, and there was too much black pepper in it for our taste. Again it's a matter of personal taste, but bacon sandwiches and sausage sandwiches made with ciabatta rolls just don't work. Toasties, part-cooked in their plastic bags, did not look appetising and we didn't try them. Pastries rather better - an almond croissant went down very well.Service friendly but not quick. It was busy but not rammed, but there was a feeling of the staff being not quite in control of things. Not chaos, but tension. Overall, a disappointment.

Slow service, even on a quiet day. Soup was nice enough, but a ham and cheese toastie only half toasted, and a hot chocolate which was no more than lukewarm milk with a small spoon of chocolate powder stirred through. Flat white was also just warm. Sausage sandwich took an age to come, then it was brought on the wrong bread. Not the kind of choice, nor efficient service that this cafe used to offer. Visited this café for a sustaining breakfast before travelling , knowing from earlier reviews that sausage or bacon in a bun was served here. Unfortunately there was none available that day due to a delivery problem, the only alternative being toast or a pastry. Barely containing my disappointment I opted for toast and tea, however the toast was chewy and bland and I had go to the counter to ask for a spoon……and the table had not been cleared after the previous customer. Maybe it was an “off” day but I did expect more from what is a well-respected brand. The staff were courteous and doing their best to serve a busy line of customers, however I won’t be hurrying back.

You've got to love Waitrose right? Well... not really. The management of this Saltash branch like to keep staffing costs down and an unnecessary wait at the checkout (especially in the evenings) is common. Birchur Muesli has been added to menu, BUT often not available. Yesterday, no muesli so I chose "brown" sourdough toast. It seemed to be regular seeded bread, ready sliced, quite thinly --for toast. I am a regular shopper and user of the coffee shop/restaurant. Most of the staff are very good indeed but sometimes it is so busy that the tables are not cleared as quickly as they should be. The coffee is from an automatic (not barista style) machine now and is of the quality that these machines produce. OK but just OK. The restaurant is in the corner of a (very good) supermarket but as it is open to the rest of the store and there are no soft furnishings, it is very noisy indeed when busy, which is most of the time. I like to think that this could be improved. In any case, I would certainly like to see an improvement in the range and quality of fresh gluten free options - very little is available at present and clear GF signage would be welcome.

We popped over here for breakfast after our stay at Saltash services. We were disappointed to find a poor selection for breakfast. There was a large selection of Danish pastries and not much else! As there was only one till and staff member taking orders and making coffee. When I was eventually served, although there was bacon and sausage in dishes on the hot counter, the order for a bacon roll was taken separately. We did some time for our order, there was one person rushing around sorting out hot food. We ordered 2 lots of toast, a bacon roll and a Danish pastry. Pastry eaten well before the hot food arrived. I think that £3.25 for 3 slices of bacon in a ciabatra roll is steep but not as steep as £1.95 for 2 slices with butter is criminal! Not very impressed at all.

Late start after staying at the Travel Lodge across the road. Just missed breakfast so feasted on cheese and ham toasties. Thick cut ham and freshly sliced bread, good value for money. Café was very busy for a weekday brunch time, struggled to find a table. Staff were busy but very polite, trying to keep on top of table cleaning and serving. Cooked breakfasts looked lovely, shame we missed them. Great place to get a 'non-services' breakfast.

Popped in for a morning snack but had to remove all the fat from the bacon - fat ok if well cooked and crispy but not undercooked like this - yuk. C'mon Waitrose you can do better than this - I am your biggest fan!

Bacon roll with free coffee ( never be without your waitrose card) - nice little cafe, can't give full marks for the roll as bacon was a little undercooked & quite fatty.

just gives an impression of lonely people sitting in the window of a supermarket getting free coffee-not exactly enticing you in if you have to pay

This is a nice little cafe within Waitrose with a place to leave your trolley if you so wish. As my partner and I can not eat gluten though, we were very disappointed to only find one thing that we were able to eat, an almond and pistachio cookie which was very nice. Dietary information is clearly marked up on the menu boards, and they have a nice choice if your aren't restricted. The cafe was clean and the staff member was polite. The coffee & hot chocolate that we had was very nice. There are also toilets within Waitrose. Being a supermarket, I don't think it'd be that difficult to offer more of a choice when it comes to GF and free from. Hopefully this will change soon.

Waitrose never lets you down. Lovely choice of sandwiches and the decaf coffee is the best. Always busy but the queue went down quickly and Daryl on the till was friendly and cheerful. Waitrose is without doubt the very best.

Nice and clean, basic hot food menu and sandwiches but always good quality. It can be get very busy and sometimes the staff are stretched which means tables are left uncleared and not wiped down and on occasions I've had to do it myself. Staff are always helpful and friendly and this is one of the reasons that I like to go to Waitrose. It's a top quality cafe, and worth stopping off at while doing your shopping.

Love the concept of being able to drink coffee on the way round the store, nowhere near as much as I like to have coffee and a cake before going home, makes it seem a little more enjoyable somhow,

Popped in here whilst shopping at Waitrose Saltash. Typical Waitrose Cafe, the food was fresh and tasty. People should be aware that the hot food is limited to soup, pasties and sausage rolls. Here are paninis that can be heated up. Other than that there are sandwiches which were well made and tasty.

We used to love popping in here when we were in Truro, you would be lucky to get a seat but now it’s take your pick. In a nutshell the place has lost its soul.

20 people from sainsbury went last Sunday . Not one meal was any good . The nights before chicken . And chips that would fly off your plate .they were that over done , used to be good a few years ago .

Festive Afternoon Tea this afternoon was very disappointing. It is clearly a stop gap to keep income trickling in between Sunday lunch and evening dinner service. The biggest issue is with the service, very inattentive, unconcerned staff not in the slightest bit interested in providing a professional level of attention. The afternoon tea was acceptable but not exactly delightful let alone memorable or to be recommend to others. Delightful setting with the hotel beautifully appointed and well decorated for Christmas, just a pity the staff were not switched on at all. Management at fault and it would appear no investment made in staff training.

For a spot of lunch, my wife and two children decided to eat here. Never again. We settled on the beef style kebabs (on a skewer). With rice. The beef was tough, tastless, rough and badly cooked. I was a butcher, I should know! Rice was microwaved but still undercooked! The salad that came with it was soggy, rotten and floppy. The best part of the meal was the kids fish goujons. We spent 70 quid (including drinks) on some of the worst food I've eaten.
