Lovely bar great on a Saturday evening - lots of good choices of drinks and reasonable. Nice seats outside with heaters.

Expensive prices, but hey ho welcome to Brighton. Sign on bar telling you to not stand at the bar after service came across a bit unfriendly.

After ordering two drinks for £11:70 , we were informed that Scottish Bank notes, are not excepted. In this day and age? It’s all the same gold….. The owner who is independent of brewers,said that it’s his choice and that English notes get refused in Scotland, I would like to know where!

Asked for a bottle of Peroni and was served a pint of Pravda !! Bar staff refused to change the drink saying that was what was ordered I was told if I wanted Peroni I would have to pay for it

Lovely pub to spend an afternoon in

Still one of the best pubs in Brighton, especially on a sunny summers day when you can sit outside and watch the world go by (heaters available when it's cold for an all year round experience). Great beers, always loads of staff on for quick service, and pretty fair prices for a pub in the city centre. Highly recommend.

Food here was not varied but what I did get, made up for it tenfold! They suggested their house burger and chips, which I ordered and it was quick to be served (but not so quick that suggested it was microwaved which it was clearly not). You know that show where Gordon Ramsey goes to a restaurant and tries their food and he'll say the burger is either too greasy or too well done and the bun falls apart, lettuce too soggy? If he went to Waggon and Horses, he would love their burgers because I surely did, and I'm a burger snob. I ate outside because it was a warm afternoon and together with a cold pint this made the ideal lunchtime treat. The chips were also quality, crisp and fluffy. Easily the best burger I had, not only in Brighton but ever.

Thank you for your hospitality these last few days. My Brighton office continues to be the best pub. See you all soon I hope x

Waggon is a lovely pub with a beautiful outdoor smoking / seating area. Prices are on the higher end even for Brighton but it's a great place to be any day of the week (especially in the sun)

My husband and myself treated ourselves to a nice pint while over seeing our son at university. We got served by a nice ginger fella called Nathan. He was very chatty and we were treated to a lovely pint of Pravha. What a lovely chap. Crisps were delicious. We will be back. Thank you Nathan and the lovely crew at the Waggon & Horses

I have known pubs for over 30 years and always one of my places to Visit, Staff/Service Great and always a Laugh 😂 plus Great outside area for Us Smokers,🚬 Bar/Pub is right in the Centre of Brighton near Theatre Royal and other Venues so gets busy ... Keep up the Good Work 😁👍 Patrick 🥇

Lewis is the best bar manager ever!!! Lovely family run bar, the owner is very accommodating. Dont do student deals however prices are really reasonable. I would recommend this pub to anyone visiting Brighton!!

Staff talking to each other and not paying attention to customers at the bar. Too many rules like no large groups, no football supporters & no standing at the bar.

I had gone to the pub with friends on a night out on a Saturday night. Even before entering the pub I was very rudely stopped with an arm blocking my path. All my friends had entered the bar and not one had been asked for ID. (It’s here I’d like to add they say no big groups allowed, which is a lie as we were a mixed group of 10 and they let us in. It’s clearly a bias towards all male groups as when in i saw multiple being turned away). After being stopped and isolated from my friends who had already entered, the security man made me feel so uncomfortable by saying ‘not you love I need ID’, I simply replied to this with a ‘that’s strange as you’ve not asked any of my friends’ he then proceeded to tell me I was mouthing off at him and he made very rude and snarky remarks from a very simple statement I made. He’s clearly on a power trip and honestly I think it’s disgusting that no one has done anything about him. As a female who had been isolated from her group I was made to feel uncomfortable and like I was being interrogated. Sad to see in 2023 males are still acting like this…he continued to make remarks even as I was walking away. The pub itself is actually very small on the inside but has a nice heated area and drinks aren’t priced too badly. Such a shame that rude, arrogant and controlling staff ruin it. From reading pervious reviews I can see I’m not the only one who’s had a problem with staffs attitudes at this place. Really speaks volumes as to why you should AVOID! I also see the pub has chosen to not respond to any comments made on here, again speaks volumes as you can’t defend the facts stated in these reviews.

This pub used to be amazing back when I lived in Brighton 5 years ago. I was excited to show my family the pub, only to be met with bar staff who were stand off-ish, rude and arrogant. One let us know prior to ordering that ‘children aren’t allowed indoors’. It’s cold and raining outside, and my baby who is silently asleep in her pushchair and FIVE MONTHS OLD, isn’t allowed indoors on a quiet Sunday afternoon? There is no charm left to this pub and the bar staff were unwelcoming (even without the silly ‘child’ rule).

So unfriendly. Raining badly and my baby needed feeding so I ducked in to the pub to get a drink and feed her and was told I had to sit outside in an area the pram couldn’t even get to. Loads of room inside a practically deserted pub. Very disappointing from a Brighton pub

Rude and unhelpful bar staff upon asking if there were any baby changing facilities. I was told no there aren’t, go to the restaurant across the road. I used the seats in the bar instead and was repeatedly told to go across the road to the restaurant to use their facilities upon which I argued the case that I wasn’t a patron of that restaurant and in this day and age it’s quite unexpected that a pub wouldn’t offer such facilities and was then told not to have a go at the bar staff. Super unhelpful when all that was needed was some empathy. Male bar staff clearly devoid of any humanity or people skills.

Terrible pub with unfriendly staff and extortionate prices. I felt they were a bit homophobic and racism felt imminent compared to the rest of Brighton.

I only drank here, but it is a really great pub. The bar staff are really friendly and helpful and the beer is looked after well. My favourite in Brighton by a mile.

It's a pub that is open early so is an okay spot for a coffee. Whilst the service was good and my coffee was brought to my table on a very hot day when there was no one else at that bar I've never had such a hostile attitude when asking for water. I understand if it's a constant ask in the summer other pubs have a jug so you can help your self.

Very busy but nice outside area

I was enjoying a few drinks in this place with the family and my 78 year old mother when my brother had his drink thrown on the floor and was asked to leave by a Napoleon doorman for standing near the door gate (although definitely not obstructing access). Supposedly there's a megalomaniac of a glass collector that seems to be to be the instigator that was laughing ask we left the premises. One definitely to avoid as you can get into trouble without doing anything. I spent nearly £150 in there so they don't care if you're a profitable client. We had a great day with the family everywhere else we went. Just wish I'd never gone in there! Rude bunch of troublemakers working outside and on the door.

We visited the Wagon and Horses as part of a birthday celebration. Our wives were sitting at a table inside while we were outside having a beer and waiting for an outside table to become free. We were asked to move away from the street entrance which we did. Clearly the staff thought we hadn't moved enough and became very rude. Three of the staff were in attendance and ultimately snatched the beer glass from one of our group and tipped the remaining beer on the ground. It was pointed out that their own sign board was blocking access more than we were. We shall not return to this pub with its very rude staff. One of the photos shows exactly how much the entrance was being "blocked". Another picture shows the rude, smug staff.

Sums up the boringification of Brighton town centre: the landlord of this pub lobbied to get neighbouring pub the Black Horse, a Brighton institution, closed down. If he does that, maybe he should start selling pints for a reasonable price, but I guess that would attract the wrong sort of crowd for a 'place like this'. Avoid.

The owner of this pub epitomises everything wrong with modern Britain. Incompetently run, insultingly high prices and a vindictive sabotage of the far superior in all aspects neighbouring pub, the Black Horse. Using the aggressive and untrustworthy police as a weapon to shut down an affordable pub for working people indicates everything you need to know about the character and values of the Wagon and Horses.

We got some 3 starters for £11 which was a really good deal and then we had carvery’s! I’m a vegetarian and the selection for me was amazing! My partner got the meat large carvery and was able to get all 3 meats. All was delicious and well seasoned - we will come back! Dean was amazing throughout!

This is a good old fashion public house. They do not sell food or hot drinks but do not mind you taking in from elsewhere as long as you buy drinks from them. They have a wide variety of pub drinks, I especially like going there as they sell Harvey's of Lewes which is always served in great condition. My other likes their selection of cider and wine. Others enjoy their lagers. It is always well attended when we go.

We've been enjoying coming in for years but current staff members are so rude that we will not be returning.

Wow. Where do I start. This has to be one of the worse venues I've been in. Drinks prices are very high and the drinks we ordered the postmix was flat. Staff unable to understand that no ice, means no ice. I can not give a lower rating, but whoever owns this venue need to get a grip

Reliable family pub who always keep the prices reasonable. They were also so brilliant during covid with the outdoor spaces.

Came here for a drink with my staff after work. Despite being a busy venue, we've been served Quick and with a smile. Even so ordering 5 drinks which I can carry on my own( working in hospitality) I was positively impressed when one of the BAR-Girls helped me out carrying my drinks to the table without hesitation. Well done and Thank You for being so kind. Carry on the good deeds.

have often used this pub in town on a match day when Brighton are at home or during times as a local resident and it’s been a great place to have a post match beer. however not anymore. I and a friend were refused entry for no reason other than i was wearing a football shirt band this despite in previous years / seasons having popped in here for a drink. i can understand if there have been issues with away fans in the past so refuse them entry. however not two old Brighton supporting farts looking for a pint in town. it’s a shame as they’re not only alienating local residents on match days but now i’ll go elsewhere when i head into town on non matchdays

He was aggressive, confrontational and antagonistic, this was disproportionate to the fact that the bell for bar closing had just been called. His attitude was shameful and let the rest of the great team down. I recognise it may be difficult to employ staff that are always appropriate but this chap really doesn’t suit a customer facing role representing your brand.

Pub, selling drinks only, no food, but it is OK to bring your own food to eat. Had a refreshing beer, outside in the sunshine, then went about my business.

In my experience I’ve never had a bad pint here. Usually a very friendly welcome and efficient bar staff. Sunday afternoon was no exception and to my surprise we managed to get a bench table for 8 of us in the sunshine. It was about 4pm so maybe we were just lucky on a hot summers afternoon. I had an excellent pint of Dark Star Hophead and followed it with a superb pint of Harveys. Great location for people watching, chilling out and soaking in the Brighton vibe.

Nice and cozy and with pleasant outdoor seating. A nice break at the end of the day.
