We'd popped into the Post & Telegraph around lunchtime just to have a coffee and saw a couple of diners eating steaks. They confirmed they were excellent so we decided we'd come back in the evening to eat there, which we did as it was Steak Club (Tuesday) night. Yes, the steaks were really good, the best we've eaten for a long time and I would definitely come back here on a Tuesday! Although the pub gets quite busy, we easily found a table and I was served quickly at the bar.

I will never go here for a meal again. As it was Tuesday it was steak club night so I decided to take some family members who came over from abroad. We got steak and chips but not even a tomato, or large mushroom or bit of salad on the side or even a few peas - diabolical, it was embarrassing and I am a great cook. Won't be going there again as its gone really down hill.

This was my first visit here as it was a convenient place to meet my old friends I hadn't seen for a very long time as this was their choice mainly based on low costs fir drinks and I can see how this service works very well for punters on a budget...the drinks they have are a wide choice with some special offers especially on guest drinks available for the week ....I did enjoy my afternoon here catching up etc..but what I didn't like was the dirty tables that weren't cleaned after we sat down which I found a bit disgusting really as we were customers ...its a very busy place so can see the attractions on offer as it is an acceptable price for food and drink..though I didn't eat I did notice others doing so that seemed to be fair enough quality for the money...overall it was ok but not my usual choice of choosing..however its still a good convenient location for some on a budget as it is quite expensive these days to have a reasonably good time ...it is good value for money overall if you don't mind the slightly noisy atmosphere as it does get quite busy at times...bar staff are ok but not overly helpful...you do get whst you pay for and that's value for money despite the slightly uncleanness of the place...

MORE AT Google

The Post and Telegraph, a JD Wetherspoon establishment, nestled in the heart of Brighton, presents itself as an intriguing amalgamation of historical charm and contemporary convenience. Upon entering, one is immediately enveloped in an atmosphere reminiscent of a bygone era, where the architecture speaks of a time when this edifice perhaps served a very different purpose. The high ceilings and expansive windows invite a flood of natural light, creating a spacious and airy environment that is both welcoming and accommodating. On my recent visit, I opted for the Mixed Grill, a quintessential choice that promised a variety of flavours and textures. The dish arrived in a timely manner, presented with a certain rustic appeal. The assortment included a medley of meats—each cooked to a satisfactory level of doneness. The steak, while not the most tender, offered a robust flavour that was complemented by the accompanying sausages and grilled chicken. The gammon, though slightly on the salty side, added a delightful contrast to the plate. The chips, golden and crisp, provided a pleasing crunch, though they lacked the seasoned flair that one might expect from a more gourmet establishment. What truly elevated the dining experience was the provision of free refill coffee—a veritable lifeline for those in need of a caffeinated reprieve. The coffee, while not of the artisanal variety, was nonetheless robust and well-brewed, serving its purpose admirably. The convenience of unlimited refills cannot be overstated, especially for someone such as myself who enjoys lingering over a meal, indulging in the ambiance and observing the ebb and flow of patrons. The service, much like the meal, was adequate. The staff were courteous and efficient, if not particularly engaging. One cannot fault them for their professionalism, though a touch of warmth or enthusiasm might have enhanced the overall experience. The environment, while bustling, maintained a sense of order and cleanliness, a testament to the establishment's commitment to providing a comfortable dining experience. In summation, the Post and Telegraph JD Wetherspoons in Brighton offers a dependable, if unremarkable, dining experience. The Mixed Grill serves its purpose as a hearty meal, and the free refill coffee is a much-appreciated perk. For those seeking a convenient and cost-effective option in the heart of Brighton, this establishment serves admirably. However, for those in search of a more refined culinary adventure, one might need to look beyond the familiar confines of Wetherspoons. Nonetheless, it stands as a reliable choice for a casual meal amidst the vibrant backdrop of Brighton.

We took our granddaughter, who is vegan, for a day out to Brighton and thought we go for breakfast. We ordered a traditional breakfast, a vegan breakfast and a breakfast muffin, together with a couple of extra items via the app from our table. After waiting over 20 minutes we were told that they had no vegan sausages so could only offer beans on toast for breakfast, but if we waited another 10 minutes we could order something vegan from the main menu. My husband duly went to order Quorn nuggets after 10 minutes and returned to the table. After another 10 minutes a man (on his own) sat at the four seat table next to us with his mobile phone blaring out awful music. Even after giving him a number of stares he continued to play the music loudly. After approximately another 10 minutes of waiting for food we asked the passing 'waitress' where our order was. Within five minutes another member of staff was sent to tell us they could not supply the slice of toast we had ordered as an extra. With that we told him that after waiting for over half an hour for food that that had been ordered that they couldn't supply and the moron with the loud music next to us we wanted to cancel the order and receive a refund, which to be fair, they did with no quibble. My advice would be DO NOT USE THIS PLACE as we would never do again. They can't cope with large numbers and clearly lack idea how to order in supplies.

Affordable and comfortable food and drink. Unlike almost every other pub the prices here are the lowest you will find for some decent food, for £25 (2024) you can have a huge choice of 2 meals, 2 drinks and a coffee. Or pay just £16 (2024) for ''3-plates''. Comfortable seating, with some sought after booths available. A refillable coffee is just £1.50 cheaper than any rivals and also available for take-away. Always a popular venue, if you arrive after 2pm on Monday to Thursday you are more likely to have a choice of seats. The Upstairs area is very intimate. Disabled facilities available. Assistance dogs (eg Guide Dogs) only are allowed.

Almost 7 pounds for their small breakfast, it was freezing. Two smallest bits of cold bacon, a spoonful of beans, a cold egg and toast that is only toast on one side and cold again. Table was so sticky didn't want to touch it, the menus were just plain nasty to touch and the cups and cutlery were dirty. The place smelt like a mixture of you mouldy carpet and toilet smell. Can't believe I've not been here sooner... from the outside you may not be drawn in but the stories of its greatness are filtering across the city. £3 a pint for some good hand pull ales. A fine selection of hot dogs, beautifully prepared and brimming with taste and all for a super value price. Nice surroundings, great music, chatty bar staff, live bluegrass on Monday evenings. What's not to like...?! You must try this place, it deserves to be busier that's all that let's it down.

Great pub that lets you take dohs in. Food isn't bad at all and a good selection of beers. Love a Nicholsons pub!
