Great pub for the football in Brighton town centre. Away fans welcome as long as you behave. Prices were very reasonable.

Literally disgusting place. Was vomit all over the women’s toilets for hours, even in the sink so couldn’t even wash hands. Staff were made aware of it but did nothing about it. Also bar staff were kinda standoffish and sarcastic which can make people feel awkward. Gross place should’ve stayed shut (got closed for drug activity lol)

Really lovely bloke called Ted served us. Pint of Stella in the beer garden. UB40 on the stereo. Can't lose.

Cheapest proper pub in town (obviously not including Wspoons) nice crowd, nice atmosphere, less than £4 a pint of decent beer. Good sports coverage, friendly and a great pub.

Some staff can be a bit slow and surly but most are friendly and quick to serve. The beer and cider prices are very good and they show Sky Sports and BT Sports. Seating is extremely limited and there is not much standing room. Door staff aren't very good, one refusing to let me back in to get my scarf I'd left because "they were full" despite there being space. Had to knock on the window to signal to a customer to bring it.

The Black Horse has massively improved since reopening in March 2023. It is a very cute friendly pub with very reasonably priced drinks. Welcoming of all, and certainly the LGBTQ+ community. I noticed the review below state that it isn't, which struck me as very strange as there are LGBTQ+ staff.

This is a properly lively Brighton pub. if you want a fun night out with a bunch of friends it perfect and right in the centre of everything.

I've walked past this place lots of times and the front of it looks like a very quaint but tiny old fashioned shop front. We decided to pop in for some drinks and actually once we got inside it was far larger than we expected with a beer garden too. The place is light and airy and nicely decorated. We only had some drinks but the service was great and there was plenty of seating. I'm intrigued to go back and try the food!

Absolutely loved my time at the black horse! The staff were lovely, especially the blonde boy and the land lord! They were very kind and the atmosphere was fun, charismatic and exciting! I can honestly say that this pub seemed like the most exciting pub in Brighton! I went on Friday and Sunday and there were more people than any other place, and kareoke! And I can honestly say I see why there were so many people! Cheap drinks, great entertainment and overall an amazing atmosphere experience, feels like a genuine pub, unlike most bars in Brighton which feel like an overpriced money grab! would 100% reccomend you come and visit (especially on weekends!) I will definetly be coming again!

All full place toilets don’t like like they have been cleaned since the refurbishment dirty carpets dirty walls outside area full of cigarettes on the floor dead flowers above the front of the bar sticking dirty bar staff can’t even put T-shirt properly inside out clearly a complete mis managed pub cheep but need to sanitise yourself on the way out

Went in to watch Chelsea Liverpool It was like another world Very cheap but not safe Was a massive fight with everyone throwing drinks over each other Lots of people so drunk could only just walk and talk including staff manger on drugs Two men and women who live or work their on a balcony above beer garden in dressing gowns so drunk could only just stand Spent the afternoon screaming at the top of their voices and falling about It’s almost worth going just to see like shameless on steroids

Owner was obviously on drugs and acting very aggressively towards customers. Feel sorry for the young girls working there, he should not be running a pub.

Full of friendly people, the Black Horse is an odd (and old) pub in the centre of Brighton. It's generally pretty quiet (as in no music) and the beer is cheaper than other pubs in the area.

Had a day out in Brighton and found this pub on our way back to the station. Excellent selection of drinks at very reasonable prices. Staff very friendly.

Terrible, the head barman was clearly on drugs and very hostile. Definitely won't be going again. Told us to leave when we hadn't done anything but sit down to enjoy our drink. Do not reccomend.

This pub is a gem. Prices are amazing, double Boe violet gin and tonic and double V&C £8.85, we didn’t go inside but they seemed to be having fun in there and lots of TVs for the Euros. Music was amazing. Not heard Stiff LittleFingers in a long while. We sat outside and at 7pm the sun shone on the tables . Staff are so friendly and a shout out to the lovely northern lad who served us, so friendly and we.coming. . We liked this pub so much went back again the next day

Come here if you want to go to a normal pub for normal people’s and be served with enthusiasm by people who want to serve you. No clunky apps to negotiate just to get a drink. It was nice to go to a pub in Brighton and be treated so well as so many couldn’t care less and charge you an arm and a leg for the privilege. Here the prices are more than reasonable and the beer quality can not be faulted. If you come here just to be seen then this is not the pub for you.

If you enjoy a cosy pub with nice enthusiastic owners & staff then the Black Horse is for you!. Friendly atmosphere, lots of regulars as well as passing trade. Drinks are mega cheap & sport is shown at various points throughout the pub, including the compact garden area. No food served here as is the policy of Craft Union pubs. Looking forward to seeing everyone there post lockdown!!

I would like to inform you of my terrible visit to the black horse on Saturday 12/9/2020 I went into the pub to watch the football with a friend to my surprise you walk straight in no trace and trace Against my better judgment and in desperation it see football I decided to get a drink Within seconds I released what a mistake I had made as the looked about I realised the place was in a absolute carnage No social distancing at all customers falling all over the place singing football songs at the top of their voices When I asked the barman what was going on was told he had been left on his own all day and was not a lot he could do We decided to try and escape the madness and went out the back to the beer garden Where things only got worse it was full of a group of about 20 teenagers I would question if many of them were old enough to drink filling up their glasses with vodka from a litre bottle and openly passing a bag of white power around Putting in a key and sniffing it We put down are drinks are 5 minute visit over Even before the pandemic I have never seen a pub so out control but at times like this they is no way this place should be open Playing football with no staff or security or social distancing measures and servings drinks cheaper than Witherspoons Full of customers so drunk they don’t care this place is disaster waiting to happen

Across the road from the pavilion and Dome theatre. Foods pretty good and the pub is nice but nothing special. Big screens for the sport but they dont seem to know what a vegan is.

Went here before going to theatre. If you show theatre tickets you get 10% off. But still very expensive

I really like this pub it’s very much like your own local pub but in the city very much a classic pub serving great beer and lager very good pint and a very long bar which is great for socialising it’s not very light in there but I really like that but for some people may be put some more lamps dotted around the back area .All in all all a real pub in the heart of Brighton enjoy

Fuimos al Black Horse en Brighton con la familia para el almuerzo. Por todas partes alrededor del pub era bastante animado pero una vez que entras, es tranquilo con un poco de música. Fue bastante agradable porque era uno de los únicos pubs antiguos en esa calle y la gente allí se conocía (3 personas). Cuando entramos, nadie dijo 'hola' o nadie vino a preguntarnos sobre nada. Mi hermana y yo pedimos un chili con carne con doritos crujientes y mi mamá recibió un sándwich con nuggets de pollo dentro. El chili con carne era muy aburrido y mediocre. No había ninguna especialidad al respecto y un hecho en casa sería mejor. El pollo era extremadamente insípido y no tenía sabor. No había salsa, ni sabor, nada. También conseguimos un plato de doritos con guacamole y queso. No fue muy agradable y no muy emocionante. Pensamos que toda la comida sabía un poco a la comida congelada que acababa de aparecer en el microondas. En conclusión, no volvería a este pub de nuevo y no lo recomendaría. La comida estaba congelada y calentada.

Went there for lunch time. Looks nice from outside and cozy from inside. Typical pub so nothing can be done wrong. Friendly service. thirst-quenching beverage and expectedly good fish&chips for a reasonable price. Totally recommend.

Un placer venir aquí. Siempre un asiento, pub sin pretensiones. Nunca he probado la comida, así que no puedo comentar sobre ella. La Copa Mundial estaba jugando en dos pantallas, pero no intrusivamente. El personal parece lo suficientemente amable. Bebidas de pub estándar. Un oasis de calma en el frenético centro de Brighton. Llegué aquí el sábado festivo alrededor de las 11 p. M. Era muy tranquilo y teniendo en cuenta cómo se veía el resto de la ciudad (los otros 3 pubs muy cerca de él estaban embistiendo), hay una razón por la que estaba tranquilo. El lugar está muy cerca de donde vivo y trabajo, así que pensamos que todos lo intentaríamos. Uno de nuestro grupo había estado aquí antes y dijo que fue bastante agradable, pero después de esta experiencia, ninguno de nosotros volverá. Había 2 hombres trabajando detrás del bar, y solo voy a hablar de uno de ellos en particular porque estoy seguro de que el otro tipo fue bastante amable. Nos atendió un hombre mayor con una camisa azul y obviamente ni siquiera ha oído hablar del servicio al cliente. Sin sonrisas, sin lujos, y en general bastante grosero. Un miembro de nuestro grupo estaba particularmente molesto por la actitud de este hombre porque era muy bajo con él. Quería una medida de 125 ml de vino, y dijo "no los hacemos", lo cual es ILEGAL. Solo después de haber comprado nuestras bebidas, notamos que en realidad en la barra posterior había un cartel que decía que las medidas de 125 ml estaban disponibles, entonces él no está de acuerdo con la 'nueva' ley o quería ganar un poco más de dinero de nosotros. No puedo creer que simplemente ignore la ley. También cerraron una hora antes, lo que sé que sucede, pero fue la campana para las últimas órdenes, la campana para el tiempo y luego unos 10 minutos más tarde "beber por favor", que es un poco corto. Wouldn't recommend this place to anyone as the manager is extremely rude and shouldn't be in the hospitality trade.

Good beer, easy to get served and plenty of places to sit. Just how a pub should be. A great place to visit for a few drinks before going to The Dome, which is just over the road.

We came here for some nice quiet mid week drinks (both before and after seeing a show at the Dome). There was a friendly, relaxing atmosphere and very comfortable.

We went into this bar by chance and were plansently surprised by the friendly knowledgeable staff and the great food. We had one dish of the menu and one special both were excellent and good value we will return.
