Waited for over 20 minutes for a drink. Staff didn’t apologise

Great spot on the seafront for snacks and drinks 🥤 had some lush cocktails and some chips after a good day out by the sea! Super friendly and attentive staff, really on it, constantly darting about and serving a busy set of tables! Price wise - good value. Will be back sometime to try more of the food Nice, chilled and relaxed atmosphere - people just taking in the sunshine!

The beach view from this restaurant was absolutely stunning. It was the perfect backdrop for a delicious meal. I highly recommend trying the scampi and chips - they were cooked to perfection. And to top it off, the lemonade was the perfect refreshing drink to enjoy while taking in the beautiful view.

Ordered mussels after a long while waiting. 20% of the mussels were shut, therefore not edible They had me pay upfront of course and I told them very politely that it was not great they really clearly didn’t show good commercial skills Was our second time there but not going back

Nice place in the summer time where morning coffee and other things can be had outside near the beach. Have had a few times here where a good sit down and look out over the beach can be had. Nice selection of stuff to have when this open in season.

What could be better than tucking into a shared ham n cheese toastie with a side of fries, washed down with a half of an excellent ale? Simple answer. Add in a lovely sunny October day and a table looking out onto the beach 😎 It really doesn't get much better.

We were so lucky. We were able to sit out on the beach front, in shorts with a hoodie and enjoy a great breakfast yesterday. It being mid October, this was truly a blessing!! I’m now sat back at home, in Wiltshire with the wood burning fire on writing this so as you can imagine, we were so lucky with the last of the “Indian Summer” weather yesterday. The food was outstanding. Their coffee was nice and hot and the staff were very friendly. A beautiful mornings breakfast by the sea and in the warm sunshine, what’s not to like?!

Ordered the seafood platter, had food poisoning. In all honesty all of it looked like it had been defrosted so that’s on us

A nice place to sit for a drink but don’t order food. Don’t get me wrong the fish I tasted was delicious. However a seagull flew in from behind me and landed on my fish. Now it’s unfit to eat. Server took it away. No replacement. Just “there’s nothing we can do”. £28 wasted.

Went here for lunch with 4 year old granddaughter. She only wanted toasted ham sandwich no butter. Service very friendly and fast. Great location by beach. All staff very helpful.

Lovely little place right on the seafront excellent food staff very polite and helpful. We always stop off at the Buccaneer for something to eat, never disappointed.

Me and my family went here today food was lovely lots of friendly staff. The only thing i think you could improve on is putting waitresses to designated tables as we had 3 different waitresses today and they all asked to serve us.

This is such a great place, well located that if you bag a table near the arch you can people watch in the sun overlooking the beach to your hearts content, all the time whilst served by lovely genuinely cheerful staff. We enjoyed a lovely lunch here with a bottle of wine and stayed for much longer than expected. We would have loved to have room for one of the cakes as they looked magnificent (and generous). The Ice Cream selection is impressive too. Better value than some of the other establishments along this stretch and a real favourite of ours.

Delicious, simple and well-priced cocktails directly on Brighton beach. It was a pleasure to be looked after by Ruby, our kind and bubbly server, in the sunshine.

Attracted by the reasonable price, we had lunch at the restaurant. This the final impression wasn't the initial. Staff was so much more insterested in chatting between them, than serving costumers. Finally, after 15 minutes, we called them to order food and drinks. According to the prize, the size of the plates is ridiculous. 3/4 of the dish of sausages, were fries. The salmon salad fish was also very small. Starters came without individual plates to share. Food came fast once ordered.

Super lovely staff, delicious food (best fish and chips I’ve ever heard), amazing views. What a place, couldn’t recommend more! Will definitely be coming back.

A fantastic seafood restaurant. In touching distance of the Glorious Brighton Beach. Mussels fresh cooked in a little Black pot. Fantastic at £8.50. Fresh Dressed Crab 🦀 salad. £12.50. Great food. Service could do with a tinker. Left with card machine? Also smoking policy. Outdoors yet under umbrellas . Someone next to you can smoke not ideal. Great place could be better. Highly recommended though.

I was impressed by the interest in the guest from the moment I entered the restaurant, which is a very good sign because I already knew that the food would taste good. And in fact the food was tasty, but I wouldn't give that much flour for the fish. I praise the service of the young man who served me (James, John ... My memory is like a "Dory fish" sorry), his personal culture and approach to the client was at a very high level. I wish that everyone would be served by this man as I did. I wish I had cash with me because I would not hesitate to pay him for his service. I heartily recommend!!! And also beautiful ladies who work there, please smile more and it will be more enjoyable for us to eat at your place. Thank you Alan

On a beautiful sunny November afternoon I stopped here for lunch after shopping in the town. Excellent location right on the sea front. Very pleasant and helpful staff and excellent freshly made sandwiches. Nice coffee too! A good place to stop and eat watching the world go by!

Went for a drink with my other half after work. It was a Monday so the place was only half full, a hostess sat us and we waited over 30 mins and no one came to take our order . The two servers were just chatting at the hostess stand and when they did walk around they served everyone but us.

Nice spot for coffee and tea plus morning stuff when the weather is right, a good range of food and drink options to have at other times of day as outside tables helps, inside tables and chairs to help when the weather is not so good. Nice food and drink and plenty to have here

Nice deck terrace on the beach. Seafood platter to share was great. Staff helpful and considering the location very reasonably priced. I read a few of the previous reviews and was surprised at the bad one,.. not our experience at all.

Great location thanks to the view on the beach and ocean. The waitress was really nice and friendly. The breakfast was very good but there was no mushrooms and potatoes which was a bit disappointing. Sure you can find more "complete" breakfast elsewhere for the same price or less but it was a good moment nonetheless.

There are so many restaurants nearby beach and we walked into Buccaneer. The atmosphere is great and have a pie drink and crabmeat sandwich under the sun, plus a Dessert “5*****” Service was amazing and very friendly.

Waited nearly an hour for food and then they only brought 3 of 4 meals. Others around us didn’t have to wait as long. Food OK but nothing special.

One has to pay before being served with the meal. The waitresses were very pleasant. After quite a long interval our fish and chips arrived. Fish cooked with skin; fresh, but may have come from freezer; the chips certainly had. The batter was crispy on outside but soggy on inside. Seaside restaurants in England are renowned for good fish and chips but this one failed the test, in my view.

Location and sea front tables are the best bit! Good food and reasonably priced for sea front. Didn't see much inside but service was good, would have been nicer if chips were hand cut but that's me being picky,. Lovely place to eat out.

Five of us went to the Amsterdam Inn for dinner on a weeknight. Not the Amsterdam's fault but it took us half an hour to get there from Lancing because of the queue at the temporary traffic lights that are in front of the establishment. Staff were friendly and polite but service was slow even though the pub was half empty. Prices are reasonable but the quality of the food leaves a lot to be desired. The lobster and seafood cocktail was OK, but not much lobster. The prawn and calamari duo was good. The grilled chicken and chorizo skewers were good. The smoked British chicken & red onion marmalade terrine was not worth the 5.49. The fish pie was not the best, and the mash tasted like it was made from powdered potato. In fact all the mashed potatoes tasted like that. They did not have any rib-eye steak so ordered the rump, which was flavourful but tough. The lamb shank was OK. The pork belly was nice but the bubble and squeak that came with it was inedible. The cheese and bacon burger was good. All in all the food is not as spectacular as it could be. Not sure if we will be back.

Albeit food was good and to be perfectly fair, staff were (when available) pleasant, the experience however was, bland. Long time waiting for staff to clear plates and to be honest, staff were difficult to find and lacking attentiveness. Male toilet is just a joke without a toilet seat! Other customers were constantly looking for staff and eventually found all together in the main bar! Upshot? Good for a pitstop drink!

La señora de la recepción fue muy servicial y nos recibió (a pesar de que los niños estaban comiendo papas fritas y tenían una bebida embotellada de un lugar diferente) ¡algo que es MUY raro! ¡Pedimos algunas bebidas y ostras que vinieron muy rápido y eran hermosas! Personal muy amable y atento. El único inconveniente fue que cuando fuimos a pedir más ostras, nos dijeron que la cocina estaba cerrada (6,30), lo cual fue una verdadera lástima, ya que estábamos pasando una agradable velada. Luego, todo el personal estaba empacando a nuestro alrededor y nos hizo sentir que necesitábamos beber (a las 6,45). De todos modos además de esto, una visita muy agradable. ?

Whilst looking for a shady spot to have a drink on a hot sunny day we spotted a table at the Buccaneer and glad we did.We were very well looked after by the staff and had a wonderful table that allowed us to sit and watch the world go by, this led to a quick drink to refresh turning into a couple of hours of enjoying the ambiance and having some food too.Food is pretty great as well and very fairly priced.All in all the Buccaneer is an easy place to recommend.

Best beach bar in Brighton for views and prices. The staff are also all super polite and friendly and a credit to the bar! Visited a couple of times and everytime, my boyfriend and I have the nicest experience. The drinks menu is great (especially the strawberry daiquiris). 10/10 would recommend for a nice view with a nice drink!!

Popped into this beachfront property on a bright blustery day for a coffee and a bit of breakfast. Turned out we were the cafe's first paying customers since before the Covid19 lockdown 3 1/2 months before. We weren't disappointed.Good quality ingredients, friendly service and decently priced. Just what you want from this sort of spot.Recommended.

We have never been to this restaurant before and was looking for somewhere to have lunch.. it was packed and so had to wait a little while for a table but we didn't mind as we always think if somewhere is that busy it must be good.. it was!!Its right in the sea front so was nice to eat and look out at the sea.. felt like we was abroad. We had toasted sandwiches, we was given a choice of bread which was all fresh bloomer bread. The sandwiches came with salad and we shared chips.. they were really fresh, hot and not greasy in the slightest. The fish looked lovely and fresh and seemed really popular. There was a lot to choose from and all we saw looked fresh. It was very reasonable in price and we thoroughly enjoyed.. will definately be returning.

I pop up for one beer during the day of in Brighton, I sit outside when Jenny came to take my order after literally 5 sec she shout to me "decided!!! And you paying now!!" I felt like intruder over there when she brought me my beer she almost trough glass on my table. I wouldn't recommend to anyone that place.

Right on Brighton beach front, it's definitely a fabulous location.Very busy, we had to wait for a while to get a beach front table (people were hesitate to give up their tables as it was a beautiful sunny day even though they had clearly finished their drinks long ago)Menu was good & quite traditional with lots of fresh dishes.We ordered the fish platter for 2 plus a side salad. We were asked to pay up front for our food & drinks.No choice of sugar free drinks other than the usual boring 'diet coke' please could restaurants & bars have a better selection!!Our food was delicious, a wooden board with fresh crab, prawns, smoked salmon & cray fish tails, plus deep fried scampi & whitebait.2 big chunks of brown bread & 3 dips.Staff were run off their feet & we couldn't catch anyone's eye to order more drinks so we moved onto another bar along the seafront.We'd definitely return again & look forward to having another delicious fish platter.
