The haddock, chips and peas were beautiful. Really enjoyed them.

Fantastic chippy. Food is very well cooked and prepared with good quality ingredients and most importantly, was really tasty. Portion sizes were good. No complaints at all.

Couldn’t fault the food, chips were good, fish was fine but the portions were tiny. I’m not someone that normally finishes fish and chips but i finished and could have had more, charging for batter and a bag and a bit mean with the chips.

Lovely haddock & cod & chips , wouldn't get the curry again though contained raisins & too sweet.

Not worth 1 star, but couldn't put a review otherwise. On holiday locally, and looked at the website which said it should be open on a Thursday. Went down and it was closed. Thesign on the door said it should be open. Don't bother with these idiots! Not worth any custom they they may get if and when they are open.

Meal was diabolical, the chips were cold and gready yet some were burnt fish was cold and greasy. Would not go there again nor recommend it.

Last time I had fish and chips here was a few years ago and it's changed hands a few times since. Called in today for a cod which was excellent! Will frequent on a regular basis now we know the quality is spot on... Well done guys

Delicious food, made fresh to order. Portions are a great size, and service is quick and friendly. There are a couple of parking spaces on the road out the front, and a few more across the road at the convenience store. Cayton Fisheries is cash-only but you can withdraw cash at the convenience store across the road.

What a joke this place is they are closed more than they are open and even when they are open the fish is not great who ever heard of a chippy that’s closed at least half the week and even then shut by 7:30pm I’m surprised they stay in business.

Dropped in tonight on our way back to our holiday cottage. My wife and I both had haddock and chips which were cooked perfectly and tasted fantastic. Would definitely recommend.

Contacted the chippy in advance as we had a large group staying locally. Food was all ready for collection on arrival and was enjoyed by all..thank you.

We were staying in the near by Park Dean resort and just nipped past and picked up some chips. Me and the kids waited in the car and my husband brought back the chips. They were in a large brown box and when I opened them this absolutely disgusting smell hit me. Hard to describe really but all I can imagine is very old oil maybe. I tasted one anyway and had to spit it out. The weird taste didn't smell like something edible. They were put in boot as we drove on to a nearby shop. When my husband got out to go into the shop me and the kids had to ask him to take them out and find a bin because the smell of them was so vile. I don't know how anyone could have gone into that chip shop that day and actually ate the chips.

The fish and chips were very tasty. The name has changed to "Wilkes at Cayton Fisheries" so this needs to be changed online as the old reviews don't count towards the overall rating, as the business has overall improved drastically. They open as they say on the door too (at least in season)

Met my husband to pick up tea last night and he was second to be served waiting in the queue when a third person walked in and got serve straight away. He expressed his disgust at being ignored and left. It is safe to say we will never go back there again! Terrible customer service! There is a great chip shop up the road so will go there instead.

Had no complaints before today but just had 1Cod,1Haddock and 1 portion of chips,don’t know how long they had been cooked but the chips were cold and the fishes had been cooked to death!!!,they were disgusting,don’t think we will be visiting again

Had fish chips and peas today x4 the fish was ok has was the peas however the chips were absolutely disgusting it looked has though they were hours old and we would not eat here again.

Lovely, freshly cooked to order. Some of the nicest fish suppers we've had in ages. As others have said no published opening times on the door or even Facebook.

They need to update their website with opening times. Went on a Thursday evening supposed to be open, wasn't. Went on a Saturday, supposed to be open til 7.30 and closed at 7 instead. So went to Seamer and had some lovely fish and chips there!

Visiting the area, we had a meal plan, the second night being 'down to the chippy'. We ate in, the first night, then went for a beer at 'The Star'. While passing the chippy, we made a not of the opening times, which, given the size of the village, were going to be limited to a few hours. The note in the door said 4:30 to 7:30, closed on (I think Monday, definitely Tuesday. So, I rolled up on the Wednesday at 6:30, the place was lifeless; another mean in on that night. Walking past on Thursday, the sign had gone. Do they still open?? who knows.

Visited here the first night of our stay in the nearby Caravan club campsite. Decided on pie and chips. Was really impressed by quality of the chips - great taste and not greasy. Ordered steak & kidney and steak and onion pie, but got 2 steak & kidney. Not a problem - both were fine. Was so impressed that we decided to visit again later in the week. On passing a couple of days later, checked the opening times - it was advertised as closed Monday & Tuesday evenings only. No problems there then - we wanted something later in the week anyway. On driving past on the Thursday during the day I noticed that the shop was occupied around lunchtime (when they were closed) with someone doing work inside. You can imagine our surprise and disappointment later in the evening when we called for our tea, to find the shop all shut up - the opening times board removed from the window and it looked like the shop was closed for the season. There was no explanation as to why they were not open as previously advertised, or when they were likely to open again. Pity - as they might have got 4 or 5 stars if they bothered to serve their customers properly.

Shut when supposed to be open 2 nights running! No notice to explain! Mate do you want customers?

I visit Cayton Bay regularly absolutely love it infact id say its my 'go to place' . Was there today and decided to try the fish shop and i must say they were beautiful. Even the little one thoroughly enjoyed them. Highly recommend. Friendly staff. Shame about the a local women from a dormer bungalow across from the chippy thought she could ignore the que and go straight in and order 🙄, but hey ho.

What a shame. My first mouth full contained a very long blonde hair! Had to throw my much looked forward to Friday chippy tea away. My hair is very short and my husband has no hair so definitely not one of ours. Still feeling sick 🤢

Tip top fish an chips. Slight problem in that I ended up with peas rather than gravy but the food was excellent.

Fish and chips were VERY greasy, obviously had not been drained, portions were very small and the cost very high!! Very disappointed with this food.

I stumbled upon Cayton chippy during a bikepacking trip and was too temped to ride by. I'm glad that I stopped as the fish an chips were as good as it gets. In fact they were so good that I was compelled to pop back and offer some positive feedback to the fryer.

Disappointed after reading reviews, expensive for the poor quality. 2 cod so flat you couldn't get in on a fork, 1 small portion of chips, 2 large peas, a breadcake that wasn't put in our order just over £15 not sure if not being locals, (we were staying at the caravan site) affected the quality as they cook to order

Wonderful fish & chips. Lovely crispy batter. Cod & Haddock same price. Best we've had for some time even before pandemic. Well worth 5 min walk from CAMC site where we're staying.

Literally the worst fish and chips I've ever had. The fish was so over cooked and dry you could barely chew it. The others in my group had the same problem with their fish. The portion size of the fish in the first place was tiny. Just a terrible meal in general.

Hadn't used for a couple of years. But was impressed with delicious fish and light batter. Chips much improved. This is half a portion as me and my husband share.

We were staying at the holiday park and fancied a fish and chip supper, my Husband had nipped in the night before and spoke to the two fellas, we had lightly battered haddock and chips which were delicious. Please pop in if you are staying close by.

If your ever at cayton bay caravan park or just passing a want a nice chippy tea then do yourself a favour and pop in. The fish was lovely fresh and skinless the chip portions are big enough for 2 the food was beautiful and fresh a credit to the owners

Sign on door - gone fishing - back 30/7 - does he mean next year, because he certainly doesn't mean this year. 1/8 today and still closed. It must be a real strain to have to come in from Scarbados to do your job - Cayton needs and deserves better than this.

Very tasty and lo and behold, you can get your tucker old school style. Reasonably priced so would definitely recommend a visit here if you're staying locally.

We had great fish and chips from here last week, only down side was the shop was 30 minutes late opening, which apparently is quite common, locals said they were unreliable with their opening times.

Fish was amazing, cant complain.

The fish and chips were superb, probably the best we have had, staff in the shop were brilliant. Just don't time your visit for 6:15 ish on saturday evening, when the local mother and children society converge. They were rude, ignorant and pushed in.

So good we went twice in our 10 days stay at Cayton Village touring park. The fish was really high quality and decent size portions. Would definitely recommend.

The only place open until 19:30 whilst the Tour De Yorkshire was on. Great fish and chips and good prices.
