I had 3 oysters from the Seafood Shack. I have eaten fresh oysters at many places around the world; none better than these. Large, fresh, tasty with a dash of tabasco sauce to set them off. I believe they were "Pacific Oysters" from Lindisfarne. I cannot wait for the next opportunity to sample these oysters

This shack provided the most delicious food of my visit. I had crayfish and prawns plus three of the freshest oysters I’ve ever eaten - and I’ve eaten them all over the world.

We bought cockles and prawns costing £12 & threw the lot into the bin. The prawns were small and tasteless and even the vinegar was watery. It seemed like they bought their produce from Iceland. Avoid at all cost.

If you think that deep frying spoils the taste of seafood, this is the right place to get a snack. The dressed crab was great - tasted really fresh, and also had very nice whelks. Only criticism was no mayonnaise available. Crab sandwich was OK, but did not stand out.

The oysters here were fantastic - chosen, shucked and prepared right before your eyes and were really tasty. The Octopus was great too (and the crab)... a lovely little fresh snack as you walk along the harbour!

Always keen to try some seafood, the pirate (Hector Barbossa, he corrected when someone called him Jack Sparrow) on my right ordered an octopus salad.. So I had to try it.. It was amazing, the oil dressing with garlic was so tasty. Can't wait to go back for more..

Cockles and mussels alive alive ho! The seafood shack has a wide variety of fresh shell fish in different size portions that can be eaten on the stand, nearby or taken away. The food is well presented and the outlet clean and inviting in a highly competitive area

Situated in the harbour of Whitby, Seafood Shack has a good location. Oysters and whelks were fresh and nice, but the rest of the seafood was frozen stuff. And why on earth serve something as horrible as imitation lobster tails made of surimi?

You get what it says on the tin, fresh seafood in typical English seaside style, oysters, dressed crab ( yummy yum), whelks, prawns, cockles, scampi, etc It's not haute cuisine just typical vinegary shellfish in the main, that's why I prefer the crab and oysters. You don't have to queue, it's easy to get to, no chairs or tables though.

Great for quality fast food, sat on the wall nearby, watched the world go by at the same time. Scampi was excellent

good variety of shellfish, nice and fresh and reasonably priced right on the harbour front, but watch out for the thieving seagulls.

Fresh oysters and other seafood cocktail. This is the place where you can get seafood in a value way and don't have to wait in a very long queue. I had their oysters in all three days in Whitby!

Lovely little stall selling the whole spectrum of seafood, obviously fresh locally caught produce. We sampled the cockles, mussels and prawns, £2 per pot, how prices have changed over the years. The food was perfect, would certainly treat ourselves again when we next visit.

Not quite a restaurant but a little shack type food stall but with great food and winkles, sought this type of sea snail all through the South of England to no avail, but here in Whitby they are on display at this sea food stall and the pin to remove the winkle from the shell is also provided, love all tes of sea food except the whelk, everyone to their taste some people love them. Scampi here is also the genuine article not some mish mash sea food in batter or crumbs purported to be Scampi. All hail the fruits of the sea.

As a child, I remember that the first thing my parents did was to hunt out a seafood stall when they visited the coast. They would have been very impressed by the Seafood Shack. The food on offer was very well presented and everything we tried was good. I noticed that they had been awarded 5 stars for hygiene too. They sell local crab and kippers as well as oysters (prepared in front of you), cockles, mussels, prawns, crayfish and lots of other seafood.

This is a simple fish hut on the waterfront jammed between a clairvoyant and a hamburger stand, but the oysters are succulent, from Scotland, and a worthy mid-afternoon snack. There’s plenty of other fresh offerings but after half a dozen oysters on the shell I’m sated. A pleasant discovery on the quayside.

It was a busy day for the chippy. But the food wasn't good. The chips were greasy. The fish was very very very small, the fish was all greasy batter. They were not cheap either. First and last time.

Went for lunch on Tuesday, 5th Nov. Lovely lady showed me and hubby to a seat. We ordered fish & chip special, which included bread and tea for £18 each. It was quickly brought to us and was delicious. The batter on the fish was really good.

We stopped in here when we were at Whitby goth weekend. I'm always nervous about eating out due to a milk allergy but it was nice to see they had a vegan menu, it did have limited items but it was still nice to see somewhere that wasn't going to turn me into the exorcist. The server was really helpful and so lovely, I didn't get his name but he was the only server in there. Once I told him about the milk allergy he said he'd inform the kitchen which put my mind at ease. The food was absolutely lush, I had the lentil Ragu and those garlic potatoes were unreal. My OH had the fish and chips and he said it was amazing, and the mushy peas were the best he'd had. The quality was fab and the prices were very reasonable. Will definitely be returning next goth weekend.
