Awful food. Chicken in my jalfrezi was dry and had a nasty roasted aftertaste that couldn’t be disguised in the bland sauce. Really disappointed with our experience as this place was recommended by the hotel.

Visited whilst staying in the area. Only had popadoms with sides and a main course each but the food was very good. The service was also good and the price reasonable. Would definitely recommend a visit

First visit to this restaurant, and definitely won’t be the last! Absolutely amazing service, very polite, professional and knowledgeable. Fresh poppadoms were brought out as soon as we sat down,We had prawn cocktail and chicken pakora for starters both absolutely amazing but the chicken in particular was cooked beautifully. We had a korma tikka masala and lamb biryani, onion bhaji.. all the best food we have ever eaten! Fantastic size portions, Can not fault this establishment and will recommend to everyone. Viraj was recommended by a young girl working in Morrisons daily . We were camping in the area with our family and really enjoyed our meal, there were 11 of us. The food was nicely presented very tastly and enjoyed by us all. The staff were very attentive and reasonably priced. The only little suggestion would be to have a couple of kids meals on the menu. Viraj was my favourite Indian but I was bitterly disappointed tonight. The prices have gone up so much. Deffo worth having a take away instead - prices cheaper and 10% discount. Food was really good. Not very flexible. We wanted a chicken tikka starter for one - nope you can only have it for two! When it arrived absolutely no reason why it couldn’t have been halved. Chapattis were £7.90 for 2!! Staff weren’t very friendly - in past always been impressed so maybe a bad day. Three of us drank water so only got asked if we wanted drinks on arrival. Empty glassses and jug once starter finished! Really lovely food but prices were high. No deals like they used to either

Food was ok nothing great but passable.I have never been to a Indian before where they charge for every little thing even a doggy bag. Haven eaten in many Indian resturants in my time I was suprised to find that the popperdoms and dips were charged for.I am use to being given them even with takeaways.

The Viraj Indian restaurant is a must visit, absolutely great food, very good portion size. The staff are fantastic, very friendly and helpful, lookout for Mo, fantastic guy, he will make the experience at Viraj very enjoyable. Totally recommend this Indian restaurant.

Outstanding food and service, we had the sharing starter which was the best chicken tikka I've ever eaten, it was hot, tasty and delicious, plates were cleared quickly, cutlery replaced, drinks delivered it was a well oiled machine this place.

Great quality & fresh food, great service, the staff didn't seem stressed when the restaurant got busier & well organised. We went on a Sunday for about 5.45pm. We were the only ones in there to start with but got busier later on including big groups. It's well worth a visit, would highly recommend, small car park to the left for about 10 cars + on street parking out the front.

What a fantastic place. I’m so glad that my hometown (that admittedly has a bit of a negative reputation overall) has a proper restaurant like this. It’s a classy, comfortable, and tasty dining experience. Great staff, gorgeous food, and a pleasantly up-scale environment for reasonable prices. Would 100% recommend. Absolutely perfect, service was second to none. We turned up with no table booked. We walked into a lovely greeting, polite & professional. Shown to a quiet area of the restaurant, left to make decisions without hovering around. Food passing us to other tables smelt beautiful with plenty of spices filling the air. The menu was varied with plenty of options. Everything was piping hot and freshly cooked, even sizzling when placed on the table in front of us. Well recommended, if in the area again we'll re-visit.

Unfortunately both the service and the meal left much to be desired. The food was very bland and did not live up to my expectations, considering the wonderful reviews. Judging from the patrons it seems that they do not cater to people with a discernible taste for Indian cuisine. Rather they are appeasing to the tastes of those who have no real concept of what an authentic asian meal consists of, such as the intricate blend of spices and flavours in each dish. This probably explains their popularity with the locals. Disappointing, to say the least.

I visited the restaurant on 28th of December 2023. The service was unfriendly and the food was tasteless. Not your typical Indian restaurant. I would not recommend it and definitely not for the price. Avoid at every cost or you will be left with empty pockets and an empty stomach.

Really enjoyable experience eating out with friends. My Lamb Shashlik (tikka bbq'd w/ capsicum, tomatoes & onions) was delicious served off the skewers and sizzling in a dish with a small bowl of mint flavoured sauce and salad on the side. Couldn’t eat it all, so filled a foil container for the next day.

I can honestly say this was the worst curry I've had in years. It was absolutely tasteless, the meat was tough , almost uneatable. Service was ok a little wait for food .

Ordered a takeaway to collect one evening. Turned up to collect meal and it was ready banging time so didn’t have to wait long. Must say that the food was delicious,warm and nicely cooked. Perhaps a little pricey for an Indian but thoroughly enjoyed it. Would highly recommend and would definitely go there again.

Fantastic food with great service. Clean and comfortable with very attentive staff. I book everytime I visit cornwall, I wasn't fond of Indian prior to me visiting the restaurant. Now I book any opportunity I get it really is a lovely restaurant and great value. We ordered takeaway. The restaurant & staff looked clean, very professional. Best samosas I’ve ever had! The chicken tikka masala, pilau and Peshwari naan were all amazing. I’m sad that I live 320 miles away or else I’d be here every week!!

We attended Viraj without a booking and was easily accommodated for a table of two. The food was correctly spiced, well proportioned and beautifully presented. Good service, affordable prices and would definitely recommend. A small caveat: a larger selection of beers would be welcome 🙏

Ordered a takeaway earlier in the day as I knew it would be busy later on being Valentines evening. I turned up at the agreed time and sat for 25 minutes watching the staff tell people over the phone that food orders would take an hour and a half whilst serving regular walk-in customers and pre-orders within minutes whilst I was forgotten. No explanation or explanation provided as to why I was missed. A very poor customer experience and as a local, I will not be recommending.

We called here early doors wanting an early tea. We could not believe how full it was at this time e with a real buzz.We had a feast. We started with poppadoms and pickles then the tandoori mixed starter. Both were served by attentive staff.The food was very good and the lamb dish was me.t in the mouth.The only niggle was with the bill. Not the amount but trying to pay for it. There did not seem to be any routine to this so it the 3nd we event to the counter while the waiters seemed to do their best to achieve no eye contact. Not sure why this was so different to the beginning of the meal. It would have been better if they just told us yo go to the till at the end of the meal.That said I would recommend eating here

Great tasting curries and generous portion sizes as seen in the photo. The peshwasi naan was also very tasty and stuffed with lots of coconut. The waiters also provided a good service with little waiting times and good recommendations. I would definitely recommend a visit. If we are back in Bodmin we will return for more!

We enjoyed a takeaway from here while on holiday, it was ‘nice’, made fresh and had good veggie options. Delivery was much quicker than expected and arrived nice and hot.Food was average, very very oily and quite expensive for what it was especially with it being V options and 10% discount given for takeaway - we got 2 starters, 2 mains and 2 rice for £31. As vegans, we were able to get; vegetable Balti, vegetable Jalfrezi, onion Bahji, popadom, pilau rice, and agloo chat.

We wanted a change from eating in our hotel and relatives who live locally recommended the Viraj to us. The food was fab, the ambience was just right and the service was spot on. We both had a really nice meal and a great evening and will return on our next trip to Cornwall. Thank you

Visited tonight as recommended by local hotel. Meal was more expensive than we are used to however we live in the Balti Belt. That said food was amazing and portions bigger than expected. Staff were very friendly and attentive. Obviously a popular place as every table was taken speaks volumes. Would recommend to anyone thinking of paying a visit.

Found Viraj through Tripadvisor and wasn't disappointed. Service was friendly and attentive throughout. We had the special Bityani and the Green Massala Chicken. Both were very flavoursome rather than spicy, maybe a bit more spice for the Biryani would have been good but it's a minor point. Portion sizes were generous, overall a very pleasant experience.

Horrible service, tried to ask for a delivery as I noticed they do on their website. When I asked if they delivered to my area they simply said “no” and hung up the phone before I could say I’d be happy to pick it up, absolutely gutted. Had it before and it was mediocre at best and I think they have worsened. I hope the worker on the other end of their phone would stub their toe so hard they won’t be able to wear shoes for a week.

I telephoned to order a takeaway. Very friendly and polite service even though it was an extremely busy time for them and I later learned that they were also coping with a large party of some very difficult holiday makers. The food is great, the service even greater.

Sorry Viraj, but on the night my family visited, the food was really, well, just completely bland almost like Indian food diluted to remove flavour. Based on my admittedly single visit to Viraj, my experience which cost my family of 4 just under £100 just wasn't up to standard. Cant recommended based on what was served (4 of the chef specials).The place was very busy and staff really tried hard given the pressure but ultimately let down by very under whelming tasting food. Sadly we could see other tables speaking to staff to make similar comments. Hopefully it is a one off problem with the chef and they can turn it round. The

Came here with family while on holiday from Gloucestershire. I was very impressed, had a Chicken Jalfrezi and it was one of the best curries I have ever had. The restaurant was also nice and clean, with well set out facilities and friendly staff. Would recommend.

I had two very good meals here so recommend to my daughter and husband on their second wedding anniversary. They were very very disappointed, not happy with the food and were rushed. I feel I have let them down. Had I been able to message their website I would have don so.

We visited on our holidays, first we were kept waiting for 30 mins when we had a booking. We were offered no drinks while we sat there. When seated there was no knowledge about food allergies or cross contamination my husband has celiacs. We were kept waiting and never even offered a second drink. Food was bland and tasteless, left hungry and disappointed ☹️

Based on reviews we decided to give Viraj a try given our hotel was not the best (The Bodmin Jail) and we are so glad we did. The food and service was excellent and great value for money. It was piping hotel and very tasty. If we are ever in the area again we will certainly return.

Passing through Bodmin, we were looking for somewhere to eat. In a local pub, they recommended Viraj. So glad we went – best meal we had on this holiday! Husband had samosa, I had chicken chum chum, then we had Prawn Malabari and lamb dansak. This with poppadums, and peshwari naan that was the bestwe’ve ever had. All absolutely delicious, prawns huge, and price for the meal not at all expensive. We’ll come back next time we’re down in Cornwall.

The new refurbishment is AMAZING. We now have an open kitchen so you can see the hard working guys preparing your meals. New see through screens which has opened up the restaurant to make it so much more appealing. Impressed with the quality and variety of meals the kitchen can produce from the size. 8 of us tonight (on 2 tables of 4) all thoroughly enjoyed some top quality food. Staying in Wadebridge on a Sunday whilst away for work, I had to find somewhere suitable for a takeaway due to hotel restaurant closed under restrictions and this looked like a good choice due to favourable reviews and only 10 minutes drive away. But it was really disappointing. Not the best madras I’ve had. The tikka was quite tough and the sauce had no depth of flavour at all. Disappointing.

Wow! This is honestly the best Indian I have ever had. Mind blowingly delicious! We ordered way too much food as we couldn’t decide. Poppadoms, naans, dips, samosa, chicken chum chum, prawn jalfrezi, tandoori mixed grill and rice... and honestly ever single bit was cooked to perfection and full of flavour. Thank god I over ordered.... I have enough for lunch and dinner tomorrow as the portions are super generous. Great value for money. We will most definitely be back and tell everyone we know to go here also!!

Had mixed starter, special curry, pilau rice, keema naan. In my best top 5 Indian/Asian meals ever. Keema naan is a meal in itself. Amazing flavours that are a bit different to your normal take away. Highly recommend it.

We came here for the first time tonight, at first we were a bit sceptical about the limited menu compared with most Indian restaurants, however we were very happily surprised at the excellent quality and quantity of the food we received, the service was very good, the staff were attentive and very amiable, we will be returning very soon.

Great first visit experience, certainly won’t be our last! Ventured out of our local town for a midweek family meal and couldn’t have been better. Really welcoming and friendly chatty staff who clearly are super proud of their restaurant. Had starters and mains (a bit much for a Wednesday really!) and all dishes were excellent quality. Restaurant was pretty busy with nice atmosphere too. All in, highly recommended

We visited when staying in Bodmin for just 2 nights. Best curry we have ever tasted with really large portions - we had to take half ours away with us for the next day! If we lived nearer this would become our regular curry house. If you are staying in Bodmin and enjoy a curry take our advice - go early in your stay because you will definitely want to repeat your visit.

We visited intending to pick up a takeaway a couple of evenings ago, thought why not eat in but no tables available (fair enough), a call came in as we stood there cancelling a booking so we were able to take that table. Let me tell you a story when I first met my husband I indicated that I was not a fan of Indian food which worried him slightly so when we were on holiday he took me to the Bombay Bicycle Club in Bermuda, pretty fancy eh!. Well, that was over 29 years ago, I can't actually remember what we had or the meal but I have loved Indian food ever since so it must have been good. Anyway back 2020, I have to say hand on heart that this was probably the best Indian meal I have ever had. I ordered Lamb Chatt Kufti Massala which came with Pilau rice, I also ordered Saag Aloo and a plain Naan. The Saag was delicious, the Naan was soft and fluffy on the top and a slight crisp underneath. 2 tiny negatives, they did not take track and trace details but that is possibly because the waiter did not know that we had just got a table through the cancellation. The second was a slight mistake with my husband's meal which should have been Lamb Jalfrezi but he got chicken, nevertheless, he said it was very good and was the same price anyway.Absolutely 5*s from me and my husband, give it a try you will not be disappointed.

One of the best curry houses in England. Top notch, food, service and decor. Has own car park too, we parked on street not expecting it to have any. The food was perfect. If I can figure it out I will post a few picks. A definite for me every time I am close, will drive 50 miles out of my wayTo eat here, it’s that good.

We have been probably six times now when on holiday here. Food is consistently well cooked and enjoyable. Service is fine. Friendly staff. Decor above average for Asian restaurants.Menu is a little limited, but not off-putting. Car park is on a steep slope, which is a bit scary to manouvre in a hire car, and parking is limited on the street.

My takeaway of choice, have been going there for years. Had to put a five star review today as it was excellent. Even better than usual!!

I phoned in a large order for delivery for a family birthday (12 guests). There was a slight mix up over two items. They made TWO EXTRA TRIPS to make sure my order was right! Excellent customer service!! And all the food was absolutely superb as well. We will DEFINITELY use Viraj again. Can’t recommend them highly enough.

This restaurant was recommended to me by a close friend. I ordered a takeaway on the 17th July 2020 and when I arrived there were a number of other people awaiting their orders which is always a good sign. My order was delivered within the time specified and it was fab. The only reason I have not given five stars is because I ordered 2x Naan and they were both slightly overdone but that aside this is definitely worth a 5* rating.I will definitely be ordering again from Viraj and will be ‘eating in’ when the restaurant is fully open -

The Viraj restaurant might not be open at the moment but it is offering a great takeaway service with home delivery in its place. Ordering by telephone can sometimes be difficult but the food and service is as good as if you were eating in. And there is always enough left over for lunch the next day.
