We had lovely food, chicken thighs, tikka, pizza and veggie burger. The service was very friendly. We were served by at least 4 different people and they were all friendly and gave great customer service. You know when you enjoy somewhere and think 'we'll go there again', and it's never as good second time round? Well not true here at The Vine. Second time we arrived late on a Sunday, and were lucky to be served that late. We had, chicken gougons calamari, popcorn chicken, burger, and fish and chips. All delicious. All served up with a friendly smile and great service. I'd definitely recommend The Vine.

Unfortunately I only grabbed the one photo though that’s because they served my children and partner and decided to bring my food out 20 minutes after everyone else had eaten 😂 Let’s begin with the fact that the outdoor picnic tables had 0 umbrellas, I think I saw about maybe 5/6 umbrellas and there were at least 30 or more tables in open sunlight with no shade (and imagine you’re sitting outside with your dogs and children and there’s no shade unless you snag one of the few tables blessed with an umbrella. The quality of food was 2/5 The Huntér’s chicken was so over cooked I could only eat the inside as the outside had gone rock solid (even the dog took some crunching to get through) add that to the fact that it was £13 for about 180g of chicken (at most) horrendously over priced for the lack of quality and quantity. The calamari rings came in at about £7 and I was served with two rings (about the size of my palm) and one that was the size of my 2yr old toddlers palm. Again quantity did not match the price in the slightest. The margarita pizza was a steep £9.95 and it was the kind of quality in a Tesco value pizza (in size and flavour too) very quickly turned into flour flavoured plastic… The outdoor seating is not cared for and maintained, chunks of the tables missing, leaving sharp splintered edges. So it would be nice if that was maintained to a level of safety. Also worth a mention if you are walking in and you have a pram or wheelchair then they have shut the cut through they used to have and you’re forced to walk the long way around - which is fine however you do run out of pavement which forces pedestrians to walk in the road and as it is quite narrow (fits a car in and a car out) there’s no space for pedestrians to be in the road so there’s a huge health and safety risk for wheelchair users and families with children to come off a high curb and be forced into a road. All in all not really worth it 🥲

This was our first visit although having passed it many times on our visits to friends in the area. It has a huge garden equally big inside and there is a car park. There were people having drinks outside and the football was on screens inside. We hadn’t booked but were easily found a table by a really friendly staff member nothing was too much trouble , even when we moved so that we could get a better view of the Scotland match! Drinks order was taken at the table, a good choice of wines available. Having already eaten in the day we were after light bites, the crispy chicken ceaser was served in a great bowl , slanting forward, unfortunately it could have been better prepared, great big salad leaves which had to be cut, slices of bacon which could have been chopped, far too much sauce it was swimming rather than being coated, no sign of cheese but plenty of crispy breadcrumbed chicken. It did the job but presentation could have been more appealing. The American pizza was large and looked really nice , again could have been a little more spicy . All in all we enjoyed the food , the ambience and the quality of the people working there.

Visited last Saturday evening, with some of my family to celebrate a birthday. We will not be visiting again, terrible service & attitude from management & staff. We rang up first & were told that you could accommodate us.When we arrived we were told that there would be a long wait for food. Also there was so much on the menu that was not available. We were told that this was because you had been busy that day & had taken over £10,000 which is irrelevant and a very poor excuse. Why don't you order in enough food if you are going to be busy very poor excuse & unacceptable. My niece is vegetarian & you only had one option for her, also on a previous visit we were told certain items were not available as you had a function to cater for. Also this time when we ordered we asked if we could order our desserts at the same time & we were told it would be fine to order them after our main course, but when we went to order we were told the kitchen was closed. Also when we got our dinner,it was cold & unappetising, the burgers were awful & it looked like the chips were the dregs left behind. Also you had all the doors open & it was freezing cold.I certainly will not be recommending this place to anyone in fact I will be telling them to avoid.

Shame the place has gone down The customer service here is below par, dirty menus and tables with staff members displaying a shocking lack of respect. It's disheartening to witness such unprofessional behavior. Moreover, the food was served cold, which is simply unacceptable for the amount of time we was waiting for everything we sat and watched our drinks sit at the bar and had to ask for them to be brought over. On Mother’s Day Table booked for 3:45pm starter served at 4:20 1 hour later after finishing starter still no main course We watched another table complain perfusely not thinking we would have to but when main course came it was cold and we had watched enough plates going back to kitchen clearly with same problem we decided that was enough! We asked to speak to manager who never came to us so 10 mins later we got up to go to find him! the duty person in charge said the manager ‘left them in the lurch 3 weeks prior’ his own words! 3 chefs rang in sick today and all sorts of excuses! And had the absolute cheek to ask for a balance of £9 to go with the £10 paid on booking! Refused to refund the money already paid!£19 was for 2 starters and 2 soft drinks unbelievable poor experience! We refused to pay at this point! We have always stopped here for food when I travel over from Northern Ireland but probably never again! Maybe as damage limitation your staff could have explained we would have long wait due to staffing problems but we were ignored for 1 whole hour from we finished our starter!! Not good customer service! We observed the staff didn’t look to be working in harmony adding to the negative experience!

A lovely place as you walk in, staff were nice but I was quite disappointed. We waited a while for our food which I don't mind as long as the food is hot, but it was barley warm, I ordered the mixed grill which when it arrived the steak was shocking I actually thought it was a sausage it was that small. The salad wasn't fresh, it was old salad, they did ask if I would like another mixed grill cooked for me which I agreed. The second was also disappointing as again the same old salad was on the second plate but this time covered over with salad sauce and added quinoa. I asked for my steak to be medium rare but was raw, I tried to eat it but I was chewing my first mouthful for 5 mins and had to give up. I enjoyed the chips and onion rings but not the rest. I have been here before many times but a good few years ago, it's definitely changed. My little boy still wants to go back as he enjoyed he's beef burger chips and peas. The staff were lovely though, it did get very busy so very popular.

I like this particular restaurant because the main menu is more to my taste unlike the Queen Victoria at Theydon Bois. Lovely welcoming decor with a fire. I had a lovely festive gluten free meal £24.95 for 3 courses - I prebooked) at The Vine, Waltham Cross, part of the McMullens chain. I am usually there at lunchtime so do not know what the pub is like at night. I had pate to start, followed by the delicious pressed beef and lemon meringue pie and all GF and suitable for coeliacs. For £17 a main on Festive menu, it was really below standards. The fish was over cooked. The only thing festive about it was a overboiled Brussel. Our waitress was nice. That was only positive. A consistent and good pub/restaurant Have had food a few times recently and it’s always excellent and a cut above other McMullen’s pubs. The beer is good - especially if poured by an experienced person as sometimes the San Miguel is frothy. It’s a dog friendly pub - which isn’t my cup of tea but it doesn’t overly bother me as long as there’s no smell or noise. It’s clean and friendly with a really excellent and friendly manager who’s built the pub up with some nice staff - there’s always a welcome. It’s all I want really. Love it.

We have had many special family occasion here in the past. Thankfully there are a lot of other very good local restaurants and as a big party we will be choosing one of these I the future.

The seating was lovely and comfortable for him and the waiter/barman who greeted us went out of his way to help and provided a place for the scooter. The food - scampi and chips, lasagne and jacket potato were all delicious as was the sticky toffee pudding and sundae for those who had room for a dessert. We usually head to McMullens as it's generally better than WhetherSpoons, slightly more upmarket. Unfortunately, this place was a disaster on our first and last visit. The garden is lovely and great if you have kids. We ordered food and waited for about 15 minutes and were served with our burger and scampi dishes. There was no mention of where to get cutlery or sauces. A simple gesture would have been helpful. We had also ordered halumi fries as a side. Halfway through the mains, we still were without our side. Eventually we saw a member of staff as we finished off our mains. We enquired about our sides and the staff member said she'd find out. So we waited...and waited.....and.......waited. An hour, yes an hour later I walked to the bar to ask about the side order. They said they would look into it. We waited and our halumi fries were bought out with an apology that they had been sitting in the kitchen. Rather than bring fresh, we were given the cold fries. At this we left, I am not one to complain, but seriously who would serve the hour old food to paying customers. Given The Bull, another McMullens is not that much further down the road it's worth heading there instead. If you just want a drink in a lovely beer garden then this is your place so long as you don't mind children. If you have children it's ideal.

I am very disappointed by this place. I celebrated my twins first birthday and I booked a table for 10 and after 3 hours we have been asked to leave on condition that we have spent around £ 300 and we did not even had the chance o sing their birthday songs and cut their cakes! Not very nice at all! Not going to comeback ever!

Really nice pub with a great atmosphere. Outside is lovely with a huge beer garden. Service was great, from all the team. Welcoming and friendly. We booked a table for inside and the first thing they did was offer us a table outside which was really nice of them to do, considering we hadn't even thought of requesting an outside space. Food was great, enjoyed by all. Priced well and decent portions. Big thank you chefs. The only slight drawback was not being able to set up a tab at the bar for food & drinks. Usually this works well for us as a group. However I can appreciate every pub will have its own policies and what works best for them. Overall great experience, thank you team & management!

Cheapest vegan breakfast you'll find anywhere! The Moon and Cross in Waltham Cross has become our regular spot, and it’s amazing value for vegans. Tons of cafes around here, but none can touch this place’s price—just £2.25 for a full vegan breakfast! I mean, you couldn’t buy all the ingredients for that. The breakfast is solid: two vegan sausages, grilled tomato, mushrooms, beans, two hash browns, and white bloomer toast. Add tea or coffee, and it’s still under a fiver. Bargain! Only a couple of funny moments—sometimes they bring dairy spread with the vegan breakfast, so we’ve had to remind them to switch it out. And once, when I asked to swap the tomato for an extra sausage, they offered me a meat one… which, yeah, doesn’t make sense. But honestly, for the price and taste, I’m not complaining!
