I was at the Michael Jackson tribute and enjoyed it to the fullest. Good atmosphere

This pub is a really nicely presented little venue and the food is really pretty damn good. Took the wife here after a long walk out for our anniversary and had some fairly phenomenal pie.

Came here recently for lunch and then a couple of days later for dinner because it was so lovely the pubs atmosphere is so cozy inside, and the seating outside is lovely on a summers day or evening, the quality of the food was amazing and the portions were so generous. Staff are always quick to serve and polite.

Friendly staff, comfortable atmosphere. We had lunch there food fine. Dogs welcome. Would recommend.

Lovely service and food was nice ,could do with a bit more vegetables on the plate though for the amount of money you pay ,I shall recommend as overall experience was good . Wine list was good aswell. No one else in restaurant so this affects the atmosphere I'm afraid.,but we will be going back .

Very friendly family pub. We have recently moved to the area and are happy to have a place like this close by. They offer a great selection of food and drinks of course. But their outdoor seating is the main attraction. Definitely recommend if you are ik the area.

We came here for a lunchtime meal. Lovely McMullens pub in Goffs Oak. Service was great food excellent and Emma paid.

The food was great, good portion sizes and good price. I did feel rushed as the waitress repeatedly kept coming over to ask are we ready etc which wasn't great as there were plenty other empty tables. We sat in the restaurant area which was relatively quiet for a Friday, but the pub area was heaving. When we left we had to squeeze past. I would def recommend this place good atmosphere and it has parking

Had lunch here today ordered for 3 people only 1 food order served when questioned about other 2 food orders was told they were never ordered. Despite being given 3 menus 3 drinks. Spoke with manager said it was males 2nd shift but he had a fully trained member of staff with him when I ordered food really waste of time speaking to manager. Then 2nd lot of food arrived after 50 mins fish was over cooked full of bones & a weird taste like it was still frozen had the cheek then to charge for both meals when you could not eat them. Last time I’ll be visiting there very unhappy with service & food.

OK went to Sunday dinner yesterday and meat roast beef was stringy and had to ask for a sharp knife as it would not cut. Would not ever go there again. Worst Sunday pub dinner I ever had.

My first time visiting here & its a lovely looking pub inside & out, the staff are all friendly & helpful (knowledgeable about the food, menu & drinks) service was quick & delicious, I had to send my pie back as cold but rectified quickly. Will happily return with other friends & family

Came to this pub for a Sunday lunch with my family. We all had a Roast dinner which was very poor, the beef was tough and over cooked, potatoes were so hard as if they were kept in a hot held for hours or recooked and the side of cauliflower cheese was very bland and lacked taste and cheese. A big let down.

We went for a pre Christmas catch-up and we had an enjoyable evening. There was a large group of us but the service was prompt and food was good.

Had the steak sandwich. It was awful. I couldn't chew it at all. Sent back to be tendrised but was barely any better. Chips were OK and waitress patient.

I am a retired Corporate Banker, who have many friends and ex colleague's in the Banking Sector: We meet bi monthly, usually moaning (believe me, as Bankers always do!) either meeting in the Hitchin area, (Millstream Pub, another McMullens) where colleagues live, or around this area or Enfield, another mid way between friends. So this was as title, to see whether the 'Prince' might be suitable; we had dined very successfully for all previously, in the Goffs Oak and also the Cricketers in Enfield..just looking for a possible new venue. I had, with my wife and friends, as we live locally a few years ago, attended this attractive Pub, with great gardens in the summer and a good sized car park, very regularly. However at that time the 'Goffs' was revitalised and with many good restaurants relatively nearby, the Two Brewers in Northaw, Judges and the Gables particularly, are all excellent. The 'Prince' also went through a bad patch menu and food wise, so we all 'migrated'. I think in the evenings the Prince of Wales is busier, hope so for their sakes, as arriving at 12.45pm for a lunchtime booking for three of us, I only saw four in the dining area and around about seven in the dining area, including us three. As mentioned, I really like the premises, somewhat darker inside the average pub, but quite well decorated and clean, the air of a traditional pub venue, with a good selection of ales. The 'Lady of the House' I believe initially served us, no complaints there and I noticed they had a brand new menu, which a couple of weeks ago, looking at the website, had changed..for the better I felt! We had, two of us, lovely prawn cocktails, full of prawns and for Mains, the other two had the pie selection..both said delicious and cleared their plates. I had traditional Fish & Chips, with mushy peas, which equally was also very good..too much for me, but packed as a takeaway, I took half for my two West Highland White Terriers, who scoffed the lot later! We had three Coffees after; drinks were an excellent bottle of Red wine, with two pints of Lager and a Gin & Fever Tree tonic..wine was discounted, as I took a 'happy birthday, Prosecco or equivalent' voucher with me. The bill, with tip around £95.00. Good value and a very enjoyable lunch....young lady server..very shy, but very polite and efficient, with a lovely smile..a bit 'woke' to comment perhaps, but worth recording, in these days of Social Media critics, tapping away on keyboards, who really couldn't run the 'proverbial in the brewery'. 'Trip' indicates a circa 3.5 score for client satisfaction..our experience much better than that..S.M. 'Tappers', no doubt!

Disappointing evening out with our friends to celebrate a birthday. Two items on the main menu were not available ( this is a Saturday night at 7:30 !! ) so had to order alternative. When asked for the bill it showed we had 4 bottles of wine when in fact we had only 2. The waitress apologised but we ended up apologising to our friends. I regularly visit often for lunch but on this occasion I was not very happy.

Great location. Friendly bar staff, easy parking. Inside and outside always a warm Friendly atmosphere. Great place to meet and talk till the cows come home.

Great burgers and beer , great staff

I bring my 5 year old daughter here at least once a week, the staff are amazing and treat her like their own! The food is nice and a break from having to do the cooking is always welcome, the menu has changed recently and isn't as varied as the old one but still really nice (the crab linguini and homemade lasagne are really nice) my little girl loves the fish and chips. Can always get a table even if we haven't booked. 5star service and staff, the cocktails are amazing and made from scratch, none of that canned nonsense(Espresso Martini is by far the best!). Have read some of the negative reviews and can hand on heart say I cannot relate...I come here once if not twice a week and have done for the past 5 years and have NEVER had a bad experience, two meals I didn't like but only because of personal preference. Would recommend to anyone of all ages/couples/girl dates and family occasions, they cater to everyone!

Lovely staff. Our burgers were of good quality but the strong flavour of the cheddar overpowered the burger.

Absolutely terrible value for money food. £7.00 for a sandwich which had no garnish and no chips/crisps. The same McMullen’s pub less than 10 minutes away has a much better menu with sandwiches for £6.95 with chips and garnish included! Apparently McMullen’s have decided this is a “destination pub” which obviously translates as ripping people off. I feel very sorry for the staff who are lovely and the pub garden is wonderful but sadly I won’t be eating there again until they change their menu.

This is my local pub. the food is very good.i am vegetarian so can say that the choices are plenty. Service is quick. We are greeted by smiling faces which makes your day. I would suggest one try halloumi chips.

Thank you to all of the staff at The Prince of Wales. We held a wake there for my dad's funeral on the 10th May. The food prices were certainly the most reasonable that we found in the area and there was no cost for hire of the room first prior to anything else. They catered for our eighty guests professionally and the food was superb. The drinks prices were good too and the area where we were allotted was more than large enough for our guests without feeling cramped at all. There were ample tables and chairs and of course the garden area allowed for many people to go outside and chat. That you to all of the staff for looking after us so well and allowing for a damn good send-off for our beloved dad.

We’ve been stopping by for a drink or two on Saturday or Sunday. Went here for a meal which was a treat from our son. A bit slap dash here and there. Service was rushed, drinks were slow. Meals were ok. My steak was tough. I was still eating and the waitress started clearing .. made me feel uncomfortable. Not what it used to be

We went here for a night out in a small group of four. We had drinks before dinner and the pub is a very welcoming place for just that. The fireplace creates a cozy atmosphere and the staff were very smiling and accommodating. The pub is visited by all ages and that makes it even nicer to visit. For dinner we had the shrimp pili pili in garlic (good but I would have liked more garlic actually). One of us had the bread rusted salmon which was made to perfection. Another had the Caesar Salad and it was also fresh and nice. The third person had three dishes from the sharer options and everything was nice. I had the ribeye steak which was fine but not necessarily exceptional. We finished off with a cream brûlée which had a god taste and flavour. Go here if you want a good meal and drinks in a welcoming and professional atmosphere.

What can I add! My review below was made some time ago and not much has changed really. Drinks are still very expensive food to and the pub has become more of a meeting place before movinig on to another location specially for the younger group. This pub is an OK place to visit with adequate sitting on the inside and with ample seating on the outside in open gardens. Food selection is ok quality is 8 out of 10 but due to pubs location, drinks and food is a little expensive. Car parking can be an issue specially in summer months and around Christmas time.

Ordered a vegan burger and my friend ordered a non vegan burger. When the waitress brought the food over they looked similar so we asked which one was the vegan one. She replied “the unappetizing one is the vegan one the one that looks the most unappetizing” and laughed. Both I and my non vegan friend thought this was very rude and shocked us. She said it again when she brought over the sides and we just couldn’t believe what we were hearing. Such a backward attitude has no place in this day and age and no food vegan or not should be described by a member of staff in that way. Sackable offense in our eyes. Won’t be going back.

Disappointed. Rarely go out to eat and when I do I expect as good as I can do at home, or better. Very much seemed like pre-prepared meal. Flavour was fine but sausages tough skinned, suspect instant mash and the watercress was old, tough and turning yellow. Dessert was definitely not prepared on premises. Very expensive for what I got. Ambiance was fine and service okay. I was offered an alternative meal but declined. Waste not an option for me .

I went here today with a friend for lunch and have to say, this is one of the worst experiences of pub food ever. To keep it simple, everything resembled Lidl frozen food. We complained and got two meals taken off our bill. The lady serving us mentioned that they had many complaints prior in regards to the menu. Awful, just awful.

Nice atmosphere when we walked in. Was served almost immediately and was asked twice by other bar staff if I was being attended to whilst my drinks were being poured. Reasonable prices and available seating. Very good experience and would definitely recommend

Went to this pub Saturday afternoon for our first time! The pub is beautiful inside and the garden was well looked after! Atmosphere was chilled and relaxed. We only had a drink but will definitely be back 😀🍺

Food was lovely, mum had fish and chips I had the king prawns, chips were the best we have had and everything else was lovely....good seating outside.

We have driven past this pub quite a lot over time and thought we would try it out. There is plenty of parking, lots of seats outside, and when went in there was a nice selection of seating indoors too. We ordered a mix of food and the roast was really good, genuinely really tasty and enjoyed it. Only one criticism is that although the staff aren't rude at all, it would have been nice to be welcomed a bit more warmly, and just a conversation of asking how we are etc goes a long way, especially as they weren't even busy, however all our food and drinks were taken and delivered problem free, like I said everyone was fine, but being welcoming and friendly adds a lot to you experience anywhere, especially a local pub. I'm sure we will definitely be returning, its a lovely pub with good food.

What an inclusive visit. Chaperoned a special needs couple for a meal. We sat Speer at Ely but in sight but we really didn’t need to the staff were brilliant. Sienna, Toby and Holly could not have been kinder or more inclusive. Thank you for helping make this a special evening. Food was also excellent!

Food fair, staff friendly and quick service

Very nice establishment to have a drink with family and the food is the super star as we found out today. From vegetarian to meat dishes was very delicious. Will definitely visit again.

Enjoyable visit for a quick lunch. Had a selection from the sharers menu with a nice Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc. Friendly staff. Will be paying a return visit. Used to go a lot before Civic and the specials were always good. Not the same now unfortunately.

Went here yesterday to celebrate my birthday with family. Service was shocking. Wasn’t very busy and staff were stood around chatting but still took ages to get anything. Waited 20 mins for a straw, kids food was cold. 2 of us were served raw salmon. We were offered an alternative but this meant we were eating ages after the rest of the party. Was offered a bottle of wine as an apology but didn’t want so we asked if we could have money off the bill. We had given the kitchen a birthday cake but they obviously just thought we wanted them to look after it as they showed no initiative to bring it out, even when we asked for the bill. We asked for it back on the way out and there was no apology for having not bothered to bring it over. Really disappointing meal.

We popped in to reconnect with dear friends (post lock down). I'm so glad we chose here as our place to reconnect. Mitch was the most wonderful staff member. She gave us recommendations on the menu (hint, have the Buddha Bowl!) And told us some amusing anecdotes. Honestly, she felt like part of our group by the end of our lunch. My friend had the Jam Sponge and Custard (photograph), reminiscent of 70s school dinners, yet I hasten to add much more refined!! Thank you so much for a wonderful lunch. I recommend eating here for anyone looking in the area. The pub is a chain pub, but the menu is full of vegetarian and vegan options. Service exceeds expectations, of course.

Not a good experience. Food menu very restricted due to gad supply in kitchen. Expensive for what was serviced. Chips ordered with meal but was given salted crisps instead. Hoping for better next time
