Galley Hall in Broxbourne

The Galley Hall is always top drawer for service, drinks, food and comfort. The menu is always impressive. Make sure you look at the specials. Not sure many places offer the range and quality of this place.

First time eating here for a Sunday lunch for 5. Very good choice of food on offer. Very good portion sizes and all of us really enjoyed our lunches and deserts. Attentive staff and a well organised establishment. Can't wait to comeback and try the minted lamb chops my bro ordered. Roll on May. Thank you

Very friendly staff, a good variety of food including a lunch menu with large portions. Comfortable pub with several dining areas, large patio and covered outside areas which would be good for summer evenings. Would certainly return here.

My friend and I ordered the Steak and Ale Pie. The food arrived with plenty of potatoes and fresh vegetables. The pie was delicious and piping hot. The Galley Hall ale on tap was excellent. The staff were friendly and efficient. Highly recommended.

We booked the Function Room for a Wake. Friendly atmosphere, lovely buffet, amazing staff. We had previously booked the same venue for our Wedding last year and have visited for lunch many times in between. Thanks for looking after us again. Would totally recommend

Took my Danish wife’s cousin and his Finnish wife for a traditional English pub meal. GH is one of our favourites and last night we had an amazing evening. The food was fantastic and the staff friendly and knowledgeable. Background music was just right, not blaring as in so many places! Would definitely recommend.

Independent family run pub. Parts of the pub are old with a 1979s feel then there is a nice cosy part with a fire and more modern furnishings then a large function room that is also a part of the dining area. We were seated here mainly as the main pub was booked but it didn't have much atmosphere and was soulless. The food was adequate and tasted good. The dessert was the best part. The owners were very nice though and friendly and welcoming

Excellent service and helpful staff

Wholesome and cosy pub, had a drink at the bar first then was sat down for our meal in their restaurant area. Thought this was nice to have those separate, best of both worlds! Specials board had a variety of enticing options and their main menu had plenty to offer too. Had our starter of Duck Bon Bon’s to share from the specials and was plenty for 2, then I followed with their homemade Steak & Ale Pie and have to say hands down one of the best pies I’ve ever had! Ended with a Crème Brûlée which was delicious and plenty of options on their desserts board. Can’t wait to go back, highly recommend this spot!

Disappointing/ shocking - We chose the galley hall to host the wake of our father -in -law. As it was the best location from Wollenbrook crem, and had always received a good service in the past. Unfortunately from the get go - we was greeted by bar maids that clearly had not received the memo regarding customer service. they were rude and couldn’t even manage a smile. the family were in go spirits given the day. but was put on a downer by the bar staff. except one who was a breath of fresh air - I believe went by the name of Mandy. At ten o’clock when the free bar bill had been settled - they asked would we be buying any more drinks’ as we want to cash up’ we would stayed longer but felt we had out stayed our welcome. all in all not what you would expect from a local boozer. I wouldn't recommend for a wake. the food was average.

Went to the Galley Hall for lunch, very large portions and tasty wholesome food. Good service and a nice place to visit for a pub lunch.

Always, always, always the place to go for a roast, family, cosy, worth the money. I recommend all their dishes but Sheppard's pie I can highly so. Go there, enjoy! Even better int he summer when you can sit outside!

At an event in the back room. Staff were very friendly and helpful - nothing was too much. Food was large, hot and very tasty. Everything looked great and everyone said it was nice. Highly recommend.

First time coming to Galley Hall. Well, it will certainly be the first of many going by this evening. Came here for the Burns Night fayre, with my wife & another couple of he, who is Scotish. So, I had the traditional menu, All had a starters, and I had the 'Cock a leekie' then the main was red wine & venison stew... wow, absolutely delicious. Lovely sized portion & nice & hot, a bug bear when food isn't. The service was really good, noticed most (if not all) serving staff were ladies, very attentive & polite / chatty. We all had different 3 course meals, & the food went down very well. Everything cooked beautifully. It worked out for 3 courses, 2 drinks & a night cap & gratuity (which was well deserved) about £50 a head. I am looking forward to my next visit already.

Great pub great selection of beer and food

We came for a Christmas meal. Initially when driving in, was thankful for a large car park - but people had left such large gaps between vehicles I ended up sitting in car waiting for someone to leave. Once parked, went in and was told where our table was. We had pre-ordered so you need to remember what you asked for (I just about remembered what I fancied 2 months previous when we ordered!!) They had no copies of the menu on hand to remind you. Food itself was really nice, they provided some extra gravy with the dinner in case we wanted it - which was nice. Not much waiting around either, in fact we had to tell them to give us an extra 10 mins between mains and deserts! Nice place, and I wouldn't mind coming back to try a normal meal at some point when it's not quite so busy.

Their roasts are the best I have ever had! It's worth every penny and the atmosphere and service is spot on!

I want to say big thank you to all the members of staff at the Galley Hall. we had our Christmas Pilates do their last Thursday. We had two courses from there Christmas fair menu, which we could either have starter main or main and dessert which isn’t always an option at every restaurant, I had prawn cocktail and roast turkey. Turkey was lovely. The roast potatoes were crispy and lots of gravy which I love The staff where incredibly warm and friendly and really looked after us. There is lovely fire on when you walk in. A very christmassy family run pub. I have also been in the summer when a band was playing and that was great fun..

Our large group came for Xmas dinner, on the11th Decem ber. Sorry to say prawn cocktail was dismal. Vegetables umder cooked and food extremly salty. Desert was very good. After talking to others in our group they had the same experience.One person told me the Brussels were like bullets.

Came here for Sunday Lunch. Not good. To start with, we were seated in an area which felt like sitting in an annexed office. No curtains with a view to the smoking area. Roast Potatoes not roasted enough, parsnips which is an extra side dish appeared just boiled and hardly roasted. Cauliflower cheese which is an extra side dish had a watery sauce with very little cheese taste. The beef rib was flavourless and tough and grisly in places and the plate was swimming with a watery gravy. Gravy should be served separately. The Yorkshire puddings were obviously bought in. Not a great dining experience.

We booked a room at the Galley Hall for our wedding reception and everything was first class. The buffet we booked was plentiful, the attitude of the staff was excellent, they controlled the ‘money behind the bar’ that we had. All the staff were very helpful leading up to the wedding and also on the day itself. Nothing was too much trouble for them. One member of staff even helped carry the wedding cake out to the car! Thanks very much for making our day perfect. I would totally recommend the place , it was value for money too. Thanks again

Love this place... My only problem is that the apple and almond pie isn't always on the menu, it's fantastic!

Family reunion Sunday lunch Table reserved for 9 of us All.wanting a roast which was fine for adults but no kids roast broccoli and carrots was hard it.was inedible. Gravy was very very salty Had to pay extra for stuffing and parsnips as apparently they not part of a roast For the price if the meal is definitely wasn't worth it 4 meal come out completely wrong and had to go back including a vegetarian options shocking

Great value for such quality food. A real find and we shall definitely return. We noticed there is live music too so we're excited to visit for that also.

Great food and service as always

Had my husband’s 70th birthday party here. The hall was brilliant and had easy access to the patio area, which we had a couple of tables reserved for us. We could get into the hall in the morning to decorate with balloons etc. we had to remove all these straight after the party which was no problem. We did our own music and used their speaker on Bluetooth, which worked very well. The food (cold buffet) we couldn’t find fault with, everything was delicious and well displayed. We had plenty of comments from our guests saying how much they enjoyed all the food. We had about 50 people and catered for 40 also had the vegan platter, which was especially lovely (and I’m not vegan) it was more than enough food. Bill and all the staff were lovely and made us feel very welcomed. Such a great venue, definitely recommend Galley Hall.

Food was lovely and staff were very kind. Service was reasonably quick too and the atmosphere was very laid back and relaxing. Would recommend it to anyone.

Lovely pub and restaurant. Very friendly, prompt service both food and drink. Excellent selection of beer, including draught 0% lager. Very useful if one is driving. Food was superb and both food and drink very reasonably priced. Good space both inside and outside. The very friendly welcome I received guarantees I will be visiting again. Great place 👍

Great atmosphere and lovely food

The Galley Hall has become our go to pub for an excellent lunch, we have also enjoyed a Sunday roast, hallelujah somewhere that knows what a roast potato and seasoning is, veggies were lovely, I enjoyed a vegetarian roast which was wholesome, hot and served with a delicious gravy, not some thin flavoured water, generous portions and staff are always friendly and welcoming, just save room if you can for pudding. Best lasagne Verdi I’ve had ever, thick rich sauce, dreamy cheese topping nicely prepped lasagne, not swimming in water and no slimy lasagne sheets and hoooorah proper chips, delicious…..no over thick undercooked wedges or something pretending to be a chip…just great chips, couldn’t be happier…..thanks Galley Hall, great service, warm and friendly welcome……will be coming back quite a lot……

Dreadful food. The children's food was burnt, chips were like cardboard. I ordered scampi and the waitress tried to insist I said lamb which I absolutely did not. Perhaps she needs her ears syringed Was told I would have to wait for my meal to which I said OK. It wasn't worth the wait it was hardly scampi more coating than scampi. I am not one to usually complain but this was beyond a joke.

We booked the Galley Hall to celebrate my 70th birthday. We were welcomed and shown to our table as soon as we arrived. Drinks order was taken and menus given. The staff were very friendly, food was hot plentiful, We were made to feel most welcome. Would recommend without a second thought. We will definitely go back again.

Always a pleasure going here, been my local for nearly 10 years and the staff have always made us feel welcome. The food selection is fantastic and service is always on point. They have live music nights and a huge garden with outdoor bar to enjoy the summer evenings. Highly recommend

Enjoyed a lovely family meal today at Galley Hall. Food was fresh and delicious. Very reasonably priced and all staff friendly and helpful. The Hot Cross Bun Pudding was delightful.

Helping a DJ wasn't the greatest experience getting in because you have to park in the pub car park then carry your equipment all the way down a slope

Always serves lovely, fresh food and generous portions. I love their desserts, especially the homemade cheesecakes.

We was really looking forward to having a nice lunch here for a family reunion however, never have we witnessed such poor attitudes from the staff (except for 1 nice friendly member of staff towards the end of our meal). Very rude, impatient, obviously very stressed, kept pushing past us, faces like thunder and extremely unhelpful. Never experienced anything like it. Clearly can’t cope with big bookings!!

Great place for a family gathering, about 20 of us this time, friendly staff, good food, nice atmosphere, def recommended. Been here a number of times, will be back again.

Love this place! I have been coming here for years. They are so friendly and the food is great. Last night was Burns Night and the haggis was the best I have ever tasted.

Bowls Club Christmas lunch, we were looked after really well, lovely, friendly Ladies.💕

Just had one of the worst sirloin steaks ever at this place, an awful, inedible cut of meat that any half decent chef would have discarded. First and last time I'll visit the place. Edit: the "replacement" meal was not to my complete satisfaction, and I certainly did not eat "every scrap" of it, although the owner's choice of word ("scrap") adequately describes the quality of their food.

Great pub. Friendly service great atmosphere. Could not stay as long as I wanted as had to go to work. Beer well kept.

Warm and friendly atmosphere, well presented surroundings with outdoor area and multiple indoor parts. Good choice of beverages and then the food itself, you're in for a treat here as this is high quality food served with a smile. We were a party of six and every meal was perfect and there was even a gluten free Yorkshire pudding option for one of our party. The staff and owners clearly care about their clients and are professional, I would rate this restaurant as one of my absolute favourites and look forward to my next visit. Well done to the team.

My first visit here & I was quite impressed. The Scampi was very nice & cooked to perfection, & the Guinness was fresh & ice cold. The Ladies serving were very attentive & polite & extremely helpful. Would definitely visit again & would recommend for a pint & some lovely food.

We tried the delicious liver & bacon casserole, absolutely delicious & very generous portions. Definitely a jewel in the crown of Hertfordshire . Well worth a visit to sample many of the tasty specials on offer. Can see why it's a very busy place & well worth booking in advance😋
