Ordered a take away from here lunchtime and have to say this was as usual simply delicious, never had a sub standard meal from here ever. The bar is set high to better this restaurant

Pretty average food but staff were nice and accommodating - would say it's overpriced for what you get and not to the general standard of eclectic Indian food ; felt a little half baked in terms of flavours and culinary effort (spicy but no variation in spices etc )

I’ve been going here for over 20 years… Ordered tonight, worst food EVER, they used to be the best in Bury St Edmunds… but after tonight, I’ll never bother again m, absolute rubbish.

Well decorated and presented, with delicious food and decent prices - only let down was the service - felt quite rushed at times, and the waiter didn't seem to have time to give us advice, despite it being a quiet Saturday afternoon - otherwise great experience overall.

We were a table of 11, then two tables of 14 and 14 came in, it was extremely noisy. Staff were rushing about and when we asked for coffee was told the coffee machine was broken. Didnt ask if we wanted a sweet. Seemed as if they wanted us to leave only there an hour and it was a Saturday.

Excellent Valentines Day meal. Meal was delicious and made to feel a special occasion .Very good service will be returning.

From start to finish it was a fantastic dining experience and I would strongly recommend checking this place out for a great Bangladeshi/Indian meal. The service was excellent throughout and at no point were we waiting to be served or waiting a long time for any part of the meal to arrive. The food and drinks menu's had a fantastic selection to cater for everyone and there was clear information for anyone with allergies, with the staff more than happy to talk through anything that you might not be sure of. The portion sizes were ideal and so tasty that nothing was left over and the side dishes that accompany the meals were perfect.

The food is always good and the service is excellent. We tried the Balti Tikka Masala and Madras, as well as the Bengal chicken. All of it was really flavorful and the Bengal chicken was super spicy, which we loved.

Service - after receiving our drinks, we were ignored for about an hour. No checking in, offer of drinks or letting us know there was a delay. Food - Eventually when the food arrived, 3 out of the four dishes were so very sweet. We tried to get someone’s attention - again ignored. Butter chicken - more like a korma and swimming in fat. Sag paneer no pieces of paneer and high sugar content. Hariyali chicken - instead of fresh and mildly spicy it was cloyingly sweet. We picked out what we could and eventually spoke to someone - they listening but didn’t hear what we saying. We got the wrong bill - no one apologised. There were two/three waiters in our section and they were arguing and unkind to each other. No one offered us the dessert menu ( didn’t need it as basically we had eaten bowls of custard). They added 15% service charge - which we refused to pay. We left no one said thank you or saw us out. Very poor service It may be award winning but for a Saturday night casual meal out it is a place I would struggle to recommend and not visit again.

I visited Valley connection on Sunday for the first time I won't go again food tasted good but portions small and overpriced only ones in the restaurant had to go to bar to order desert waiting 25 mins in empty restaurant isn't acceptable they will struggle to do well if they carry on like this .

Booked a table for 2 at 8pm on a Saturday night 3 days in advance. Arrive at 7.55, stand for 5 minutes being ignored to then be told to take a seat, nobody asked our name or if we had booked. Within 10 minutes another 4/5 tables arrived and we’re all greeted properly and again told to sit and wait. I kept trying to get someone’s attention but ignored. The whole place was full and very busy. 10 minutes went by, other guests waiting said that they hadn’t booked. I went to the bar and waited another 5-10 minutes being ignored to point out we had booked! Staff didn’t seem to care and seated walk ins before us. Finally we sat at our table 25 minutes late. Food was lovely however service BAD. Nobody seemed to care, we asked a question and waiters walked away rudely, 9.10 our meal arrived when we booked for 8pm. The place was SO busy we had to shout to have a conversation and to be fair we couldn’t wait to get out of there. I understand they’re a business who needs to make money but don’t overbook, don’t agree to walk ins when you can’t provide a decent service. Won’t be returning

Had better food in here but OK had to wait over an hour for food after order taken ,only got it after I asked how much longer I think we were forgot about probably go back again tho ,unless anyone recommend any where to try local .

We have been going to 'Valley Connection' for a couple of months and really enjoy the delicious food. The Manager is really friendly and always makes us welcome. Would recommend.

Visited for a birthday celebration, asked for the table to be set for 12, 10 adults and 2 children (don’t have highchairs) but when we arrived table only for 10. Food ok but had to ask where our drinks were after waiting for 20 mins. Bought out wrong dishes, staff a bit arrogant. When the bill came there was a service charge of 10% which amounted to nearly £40 which we refused to pay as the service was poor. Overall won’t be visiting again.

A bit more than an Indian Restaurant, beautifully set out. Food delicious and service second to none.

I have been using Valley Connection for the last 15 years and always found the food and service absolutely outstanding. One of the best Indian restaurants for food anywhere. However on the last 2 occasions the food has been poor and dissapointing. I am more than happy to pay a bit extra for food that has always been exceptional but recently this has not been the case. I ordered a delivery that although arrived within the time slot was nowhere near the standard provided in the past. The rice was hard, the curry was generic with a lack of flavour and the order was incorrect. Such a shame from a resturant with such a brilliant reputation. Unfortunately I will not be revisiting in the future.

The food and hospitality here are exceptional! I had the VC special mixed Biryani, and would definitely recommend it. The rest of my colleagues that came with me also all enjoyed their food. I plan to revisit next time I am in town!

The best Indian restaurant by far in Bury. Modern, fresh & clean. Friendly staff, good prices & the food was excellent 👌. 2nd time here & will now be our 'go-to' place with friends. Highly recommended.

Took over one and a half hours for the food to come out! Not great at all.

Great food, but organisationally terrible and completely useless when it came to ordering food in advance and splitting the cost between guests. I would not recommend dining as a large group here (that is if you can even fit into the tiny spaces on the table).

Took a friend to VC who had never been before. She was blown away by the food! So much choice and quality and portion size was amazing. We couldn't eat it all. Service and atmosphere spot on.

If you are looking for an authentic uk curry house experience this is it. Food was over spiced to drown out any flavour (if it was ever there in the first place), served with a side order of disdain by the staff. The bill was creatively managed, with additional drinks added that were neither ordered or consumed. Watch the fringe costs, poppadoms and dips are £1 per person per item, not cheap. For the price of the meal this is not value for money. Wont be back.

L’endroit est superbe, délicatement décoré, et donne l’impression d’un restaurant de très haut standing. Il l’est sans doute, culinairement parlant, pour certains goûts mais pas du mien, qui cuisine volontiers moi-même de nombreuses recettes du sous-continent. J’ai commandé un curry d’agneau, ce qui avait été compris correctement, en témoigne le ticket de caisse, mais le curry que j’ai reçu contenait des morceaux de filet d’un poulet athlétique, d’une dureté incroyable. Vu la sauce, je m’en suis rendu compte trop tard pour renvoyer le plat en cuisine et il faudra quelques semaines avant que je retrouve envie de manger du volatile. La sauce et les accompagnants commandés avaient peu de goût. Personnel très distant. L’ensemble est pour l’instant le repas le moins bon de notre voyage, excepté (et encore…) les cas où, pour des raisons d’horaire, seuls des sandwiches de grandes surfaces étaient à disposition.

Food was lovely, but over-priced for a very small amount of food. Sag aloo is 4.95 but not even half full, even despite the cheap ingredients to make it. Won’t be using again.

Very nice modern Indian restaurant. The service was fantastic and the waiter was happy to describe the food on the menu. Very tasty meal and good decor and cleanliness. We will come back.

Staff were rude. Took 2 hours for our food to come out, one dish was incorrect and no apology or change to correct dish. Manager was rude, we asked for a discount because of the wait and wrong food manger continued to raise their voice.

Food was very nice and the staff were very friendly the only problem was that we booked a table for two at 13.30 planning to have a nice afternoon but at 14.00 everything became rushed we were then informed that they were closing at 14.30 so why take a booking for 13.30 knowing that they were closing an hour later we didn't have time for a sweet (not that we were asked if we wanted one) very disappointed

I ordered online got my reference number and awaiting email confirmation which never came. I rang the restaurant to ask if they had received my order, they said yes it was ready so I went to collect immediately. I got to the restaurant at 16.50 for them to say they did not open til 17.00hrs, I said I was due to collect at 16.42 they said I would have to wait 30mins. as I waited I was offered a free drink which I accepted. When I got home the curry containers were only half full - bearing in mind they cost over £12 per curry! Saying that the food was nice, but what a total rip off!!! Word of advice - sort your website out, if you do not open till 17.00hrs it shouldn’t say you open at 16.00hrs! And say if your only providing half portions… barely enough sauce to cover the rice!

Terrible to say the least. 3 bits of meat at a push per dish. Constantly knocked by staff speaking to tables next to us where they are too close together. Offered a discount after complaining, never received our last drinks that were ordered and forced out the door before even finishing because they were too busy and rushing for tables. Very rude and won’t ever return.

Looking for a late evening meal while on a solo trip staying nearby in Bury St. Edmunds I stumbled upon this gem of an Asian restaurant. Superb food, excellent service and a lovely dining room. Highly recommended

Food was excellent, generous portions. Good wine selection. Staff attentive and friendly. Maybe a bit pricier than others but worth it in our opinion.

Hands down the best Indian food you will ever taste! We have tried many different Indians and we travel 30 mins drive to go to this Indian. Not the cheapest, but the quality and taste of the food is incredible, love the Balti chicken tikka masala! The staff are always really friendly, and service is on point consistently. The decor also feels quite classy. The only drawbacks are the service charge added to the bill which makes things more expensive and obviously just goes into their bank account (you can ask to remove), and also the soft drinks are pricey for what I believe is poured from a 2 litre supermarket bottle rather than a individual bottle or draught.

The food is nice here and the service I would say is average. However the bill at the end really left a bad taste after looking at how much each item cost. Some things were priced with completely disproportionate mark ups. For example one (yes 1) single poppadom crisp alone cost £1 per a crisp, then the dips or sauces are also added in extra. This meant a small appetiser of poppadom crisps and dip came to £12 alone! The prosecco was £27 and had a £20 profit mark up on it. A simple glass of regular coke was £5. And then just to make the bill even higher a 10% service charge was added onto the bill at the end for good measure. To be charging very high prices already and then add in a service charge too did not leave the best of impressions and sadly I do not think we will be eating here again as the prices for an Indian restaurant in Bury are too high.

Friendly staff to go with some excellent tasting food. From gorgeous starters to main, the food didn’t disappoint. Will go again.

Went here spur of the moment tonight ,food is fantastic, service second to none ,could not fault anything highly recommend this restaurant. Hubby even asked for some sauce we had had with our poppadoms the waiter brought him some to take home, we will definitely return

It was not busy so were very surprised when we had to wait over an hour between starters and our mains. I was even more surprised when people who came in after us and ordered after us got their meals before us. I was surprised when one of the dishes was wrong and they just changed the main ingredient and served it up again. I was not surprised when a party of 3 on the table next to us refused to pay the service charge. After such an awful experience we could not wait to get out and will definitely never go there again.

Excellent Indian food. Service was superb. It is a bit pricey, but the interior is well done and very posh. Kingfisher on tap, cobra in a bottle and a decent wine and cocktail list.

We were not very impressed. Some staff were a bit rude but not all. The food was OK but not great and the bill didn't seem to match the menu. Which others have also mentioned. They were very busy so maybe they were stressed but there isn't much need to be rude, people have bad days so ultimately its about food for us and we were not that impressed.

Came here for dinner without a booking, having originally booked to have dinner at Cheers Steak House (we bailed out before ordering as the place seemed really trashy). VC accommodated us with great warmth and friendliness. Our food was very good and the service throughout was lovely.

Great time good food lovely staff

I went for a take away and asked for a lamb phal to be made extra extra hot because the previous time I ordered one from here it was too mild. Sadly they did not understand that a phal should be the hottest dish on the menu anyway but the fact that I made a point of asking for it to be made extra extra hot should have made them want to put some effort into making it so. What they served was so lame, AGAIN, you could have fed it to a baby, But the disappointment didn't end there, I also asked for pots of mint sauce, what they gave me was some yellow runny stuff that tasted of lemon but not a hint of mint at all. Even worse, I asked for coriander AND chilli naan breads, not one speck of chilli was in it, just coriander. I was disappointed the first time I asked for a phal from here but thought I would give them a second chance and ask for one to be made extra extra hot but they failed so badly that I will NEVER go there for an Indian takeaway again, even if it was the last one on the planet.The best place you could get a proper phal from was The Last Day of The Raj which was closed down to make way for stupid ugly flats on Station Hill. Their phal was for the brave only, the first mouthful would bring a sting to your tounge, the second would bring beads of sweat to your brow, the third would make your nose run and the fourth would have you running to the fridge for milk. Those were the days when men were men and phals were hot, proper hot. Their mint sauce would be creamy, white and minty and their naan breads would have coriander and fresh cuts of green chilli in them. If there are any Indian outlets in Suffolk able to make such I dish, I will be happy to test it for them and if it is good, I will become a regular customer.

Excellent food, didn't have to wait very long for a takeaway on Thursday evening either. We were even offered a complimentary naan bread with my husband's meal as it was his birthday, thank you to the team at the VC.

First impressions were good. Smart interior, friendly and professional welcome. Ordered three starters and two mains from the Bangladeshi specials. Prawn puree a bit wet and tasteless, onion bhaji also pretty bland. Lamb tikka good quality and well cooked, but also rather bland. Both mains had good ingredients but were overpoweringly sweet and no spice at all . Like exaggerated Korma sauces. Horrible!

This is a spacious, light and airy, air-conditioned restaurant, with a welcoming interior. The restaurant and its tables were laid out nicely and we were greeted on arrival.The establishment was well staffed, and the waiters were attentive but not intrusive.The menu offers a nice and interesting choice of food, and we were spoilt for choice. The meals we chose were served hot, well presented and delicious.However, three service issues marred our visit.One of the side dishes we ordered was not served with everything else when our meal was delivered, and this was clearly unnoticed until we had to ask for it. Yes, the side dish then appeared, but it was served several minutes after we had started to eat our meal and did not accompany our initial tastings.We both ordered a dessert, the choice being made from the typical list of pre-prepared and frozen ice cream dishes typically offered by Indian restaurants. We each chose differently. One dessert was served quite a long way ahead of the other and had started to thaw pending the delivery of the second. How hard can it be to serve two ice cream frozen dishes together?Lastly, when our itemised bill was presented to us, it was completely accurate save for a final entry listing a bottle of Rioja wine costing the best part of £25. We had not ordered a bottle of wine, no wine had been served and we had not consumed anything more than beer, prosecco, and water. When this discrepancy was queried, the offending item was removed, and the bill was corrected.Apologies, such as they were, were mumbled and did not come across as at all sincere.The restaurant was well staffed, not especially busy and the staff did not appear to be under any pressure. How can such simple service mistakes occur?Wisely, we were not solicited to offer a service gratuity when we settled the bill.The restaurant was good and the food excellent. The service was wanting. On balance the former slightly outweighs the latter and we are prepared, in due course, to give the restaurant a second chance rather than boycott it completely.

Lovely Indian - lots if choice and lovely atmosphere

Went here for our daughters birthday, staff helped us dress the table and were very friendly. Had a little wait for our first round of drinks but everything else was spot on. Everyone was very happy with their food. Fantastic and tasty!

We decided the first thing we wanted to do was to to eat a meal in a restaurant after all the takeaways so we chose this place as it's always been a restaurant to go for a special occasion. The evening did not disappoint, the service was very good, the experience safe yet enjoyable and the food is just as good as before. I always feel the curries here are a cut above other places and although it is more expensive than others we always return when we want to make the experience more special

Love this restaurant. These guys have worked so hard the last year through lock down to keep it all afloat. So pleased they’ve come out the other side. First time tonight that we are in and really is a delight.... cooked fresh, a real treat. Some of the best Indian food around for miles in my opinion. Thank you khaled ( Raj !! ) and the team.

Arrived to be seated straight away. The people who work here are always super friendly and really helpful. Popadoms and chutneys were brought to our table and We looked at the menu and decided what we wanted, food and drinks ordered. Wasn’t a long wait for food and it came out piping hot and so fresh and delicious. This place is definitely our favourite Indian restaurant and we will definitely return. Thank you

We have used this restaurant 3 or 4 times for takeaway during lockdown and 2 out of these times there has been a dish missing. On contacting them both times i felt that they act like I am lying. They tell you that they will give you a free dish next time, only to conveniently forget the next time! I was warned about this by a couple of their “old” customers and should have heeded their advice. Happened again last weekend and can’t even be bothered to tell them that there was a dish missing this time! They clearly don’t check bags before giving to the customer. It’s a shame as the food is nice, if overpriced, but don’t mind paying that if it’s good and all is in the bag! Will find somewhere else as there are many in Bury to try!

Takeaway only at present, but the food quality hasn't suffered. Goan King Prawns and Naga Masala Chicken still awesome. Naan breads not beaten anywhere we've ever been. Really good paneer too.

Valley Connection is one of my favourite restaurants. In normal times when you eat there it's not just the food that is fabulous. It's also the service, the hospitality, the attention to detail.But these are not normal times.Last night we ordered a takeaway and had the best curry of the past 12 months - beautifully spiced, generous proportions, cooked and served with evident care.I like my curries hot. My Jinga Dum Lamb Achari was just that - hot, yet with all the individual flavours kicking through. My wife likes a milder dish. Her chicken tikka masala was fragrant and beautiful.In these dark times of lockdown, the chance to enjoy such vibrant dishes beautifully presented was a real Friday night treat. Add your own glass of beer and it will help you to get through these challenging times.VC may not be quite there for us all in person as a sit-down restaurant. But as a takeaway venue it's doing amazing things. Recommended.

We Pre-booked a take away with four days notice for New Year’s Eve. When we collected the take away and brought it home, it was cold, the wrong dishes had been provided and the onion bhajis with dripping in cold grease.Very very disappointed with the quality of the food and after service. We have called and emailed with now response, incredibly disappointing.

Fantastic curry tonight with delivery to home in Rattlesden - first class. Wonderful food - wouldn't order from anywhere else all the time they are this good!

Terrible Hair in food, dishes missing, NO FACE MASKS ITS A PANDEMIC AND PEOPLE ARE DYING

Ordered Takeaway at 7.00pm today. Advised 1 hour collection time. After my wife waited inside 8pm-845pm our order eventually arrived after I complained at 8.50pm There was at least 10 other people waiting inside the restaurant for collection of orders, one claiming order and paid for an order at 6.00pm, she was still waiting when we left. The manager came out from kitchens advising of difficulties and all orders having to be redone. They had clearly not got enough staff to cope and severely let everybody down. This is usually our first choice Indian in Bury but given this debacle I am sorry to say I will not be using the Restaurant or the collection service again. Forgot to mention my wife sat inside the restaurant with at least 12-14 other people, (all wearing masks) yet Bury is in Covid Tier 4? NOBODY should have been allowed to wait inside with others. Disgraceful all round experience.

I would 100% recommend eating here. The most delicious curry’s and excellent service within a beautiful location. The restaurant really gives you a feel for traditional Indian cuisine with its beautiful food. Particularly, we have had the best experience with a waiter called khaled, he was so polite and welcoming and made us feel truly special. I enjoyed the king prawn, biryani and the sauce. My fave was laal mesh chicken👌. My family enjoy eating their food and it has always been consistent.

Amazing restaurant!! Customer service is always beyond incredible, the biryani has so much flavour, the spices are perfect, could not recommend a better restaurant than this. I have been a customer for over 3 years and I have not tasted a better Indian dish than theirs. Even during this Pandemic, they are amazing at what they do, definitely a beautiful restaurant where you can take your family or friends, the atmosphere is great too! ☺️

Over crowded and not COVID secure in any way. Waited 50 minutes for a takeaway which was undercooked and very unpleasant. The parathas were awful and paneer missing entirely. The elderly gent before us had been waiting over an hour for his takeout meal and left furious. We complained to the Local Authority with regard to the COVID as it was frankly irresponsible. The only reason it’s not got 1 star is that they offered a replacement next time!

I first came here for Valentine’s Day with my Husband after he had been recommended. I wasn’t fussed as the food wasn’t great and didn’t want to return. My Husband has returned a few times without me when out with Friends. We came here as a group of 6 a few weeks ago (my 2nd visit) and the food and service was outstanding. Visited again with my Husband tonight as a spur of the moment date night and again the food and service was outstanding. The staff and friendly and super helpful. Social distancing and all things Covid related is top notch. VC has become my favourite place to go for a curry. Thank you VC

We have made this a staple of our night outs and take outs. The staff is incredibly helpful and will go out of the way to accommodate you. It's a very classy high end vibe no rush or pushiness. The food itself is always outstanding. The chicken dhansak without any sugar is delightfully spicy soul food.

We visited VC and the food was 5/5! It’s fair to say I had the best Indian main course I’ve ever had (and I’ve had many over the years) at VC. I know that’s big praise, but fully deserved.I had number 59. Lal Mirch Chicken Masala and it was delicious, perfect spice, flavour and heat. My mate had number 68 Chicken Shaslik Bhuna and gave his 4/5. Our mixed kebab starters were tasty and the Mator Paneer, Onion Naan, Onion Bhaji and Pilau Rice were what was expected. Overall really tasty and will return. Lastly, just an observation, there was a fully grown man wearing a Boston Red Sox hat indoors, inside the restaurant! I found this behaviour to be rather strange and I’m not sure why the staff didn’t ask the man to take the hat off his head? I thought this man was bringing down the tone of the restaurant. When you go out to dine, at least dress up for the occasion, wearing a furry hat indoors is not cool at all.

Just arrived in Bury St Edmunds today for a short break. Happened across this restaurant earlier today and booked table for this evening. Spotlessly clean and covid compliant. Food excellent and staff very friendly and attentive. Thank you for a lovely meal
