had to reheat all the food, the bag the onion bhaji were in was soaked in oil and cold. really disapointed after 15 plus years of using the restaurant it was the worst meal we have had.

Delivery yet again late, this time an hour! Kept ringing and constantly told it’s on it way. Total lies, unless the driver went via Scotland. Such a shane as food usually good, but 3rd time on delivery and again, so very late. Would not trust them again, constantly lie.

Normally our go to Indian restaurant. Unfortunately our recent meal had small BONE in the chicken, chips & Nann cold, no bag of salad. :( - feel like the love for food has gone down here.

Food greasy, chicken chewy, lamb chewy, food tasteless disappointed. The best was the papadums.

it was cold, had to heat it in the microwave, the containers with the curry in was warm enough, onion bhaji was not nice cold.

Missed out onion salad and mango chutney which we paid extra for. Other that that, quality was great!

I went in with a friend and it has had a refit and now the place looks amazing inside, was greeted by Sam the head waiter, had poppadoms and dips straight away and soft drinks, then main meal was chicken corma with rice and naan bread, Sam would come over and ask if everything was okay and it was perfect, cannot fault food, service and decor, will definitely be going again, thanku Sam and staff at Raj Mahal.

Great food and service as usual, with special attention to dietary requirements. Lots of choice on the menu.

Won’t let me put 20 minutes late - Keeps staying on 5 minutes, delivery driver mentioned I owed another £4 delivery fee as was a mile outside of town, but there was no option when ordering ….. But the food was amazing as usual

Good but not great. Another outing for the Castle Camps Curry Club took us closer to home this month and an evening out at the Raj Mahal in Haverhill didn't disappoint. After a couple of beers in the local, we were keen to tuck into a decent curry. The Raj was pretty empty when we arrived, only a couple of other tables occupied and this didn't change much over the evening which was surprising for a Friday night. We were greeted warmly and shown to our seats, popadums, pickles, beers, and soft drinks were ordered and they arrived quickly. The normal popadums were fine, but the spicy ones I thought were a bit stale and the lime pickle though punchy was too salty. Starters, mains, and sides orders were taken efficiently, and the service throughout was great, we didn't have to wait long before the food arrived, and the staff were attentive and unobtrusive throughout. The starters and mains on the whole were good, not great, and the food was in general tasty and plentiful but the straw poll at the end of the evening came out with 6s and 7s. Maybe we've been spoiled by some of the restaurants we've been to, and I certainly rate it greater than average but I wouldn't say it was the best either. One club member remarked that their main was too greasy and another that the heat of the dish overpowered any flavor. I would say that the food was reasonably priced so offers good value for money, but if you are prepared to go further afield there are better Indian restaurants out there. We still had a great night, it was good to welcome some new members to the club, and we had a decent curry, mission accomplished!

We were required to pay an additional £4 for delivery, even though we had paid £4 delivery online. The food was good and portion size was good, just disappointed that there was an added charge that was not listed when we booked

I ordered my takeaway, was charged £4 for delivery then got a message on my phone telling me a needed to pay £4 delivery on addition. This is clearly misleading - JustEat you don’t normally associate with brands that charge twice through the back door for delivery, why this time? Not impressed.

Two things about this order: 1. We ordered this at the same time as our friends ordered theirs in the pub. Arriving when we both went our separate way. Theirs arrived, which was a much larger order, at 20:15, ours arrived at 21:00! You would’ve thought they might’ve sent both with the same driver to save costs and to make them be more efficient? 2. We paid £4 delivery + 50p surcharge on top of our £45 order. You’d assume this covered delivery?! Apparently not. The restaurant rang to say we needed to pay the driver an extra £3 for delivery…and that was just the way it is. We argued the toss. Surely the amount you pay at ‘checkout’ is the final figure? Appreciate a tip might be nice but to be told this seemed odd. Consequently we won’t be using the restaurant again.

Tried to charge another £3 for delivery, in total it would have been £7!! Nothing on the web site stating this, told that they couldn't refund our £4 delivery charge after we collected it and to contact Just Eat who have not replied to my email!! Not happy at all 😡

First time try, fantastic Taarka Dahl and Nan bread. Mushroom rice great. But the lamb tikka masala was disappointing, the lamb was very tough and the saag panir had a little bit of melted cheese instead of lovely blocks. We will try again 👍

Tasty food, not greasy at all, even received an extra poppadum and a side dish! Delivery was within 10 minutes of the requested time, so thumbs up from me! Will definitely order from here again in the future.

We thought we’d take our teenage daughter for a meal on Bank Holiday Easter Monday for a treat. We decided on Raj Mahal in Haverhill because the restaurant itself is nice, good decor and plenty of room. The food has always been of a decent quality, however things seem to have changed over the last couple of years but we thought we’d try it again. I honestly don’t think I’ve experienced a meal like this in Haverhill. The waiter was very nice but had a hacking cough. It’s not a good look during a pandemic to say the least, holding your breath every time they serve you is uncomfortable. The table had lots of fine black hairs, does the person doing the laundry have a pet? The food itself was mixed in terms of quality - my husband’s chicken was hard and tough / chewy. He left half of it. My daughter’s korma was okay, one of the few dishes that was. The breads were fresh and tasty, veg curry was watery and as though a curry sauce mix was used. Pakoras were soggy. My daughter and I had coke and lemonade respectively and both drinks were flat. My husband left over half of his pint of Cobra as he detected an eggy smell, he wondered whether the pipes might need cleaning. A lot of the meal was lukewarm. But mostly the problem is with how bland the food was. I’m sorry to say we won’t be back.

Over cooked chicken. Cold rice. Luke warm chips. Won’t be ordering again.

Took a friend for dinner, was a lovely meal so filling! So tasteful, staff were incredible, so polite and welcoming. Atmosphere was really good always nice to have smiling faces, takeaways have always been great too! Highly recommend to anyone.

Food was OK, nothing special for the price. Curry tray was only half filled and samosas were greasy. Not bad as such but underwhelmed enough to tell you all about it.

The foos was really good, but… it could have been a lot warmer, so it had probably sat for a while before delivery. And I can’t help but think £12.95 for four tandoori prawns is a bit overpriced (but that might just be me)

Great tasting freshly cooked curry. Slightly smaller portions on Saag Aloo and Chicken Tikka Main then normal, but it was NYE. Would recommend. Best in Haverhill.

Been going to this eatery for years, slowly been a sad decline in quality, I can honestly say, the worst meal I have had there. Food was tasteless, me and my wife the only diners in there. Gave up on the meal and asked for the bill. The sole waiter joked”but you haven’t finished your meal “. Exactly…. Sorry, not going back . Very poor quality, Was once the best Indian restaurant in the area!!!!

Food was good but portion on Jalfrezi was smaller than normal

In my order I ordered a sag paneer and when I started eating it I quickly realised it was made with melted cheddar! I rang restaurant and manager told me paneer means any cheese. Paneer means Indian cottage cheese! On a serious note he needs to change menu to sag cheddar 🤦🏼‍♀️

Terrible. Ordered at 5pm for a 7pm delivery. It’s now 8pm and we are still waiting for our delivery.

Although the food was late it was very tasty and we most certainly will visit again been going to this indian takeaway for a while now the food never dissapoints.

Thought we would give them a 3rd chance. 1st time they couldn’t accept our order, no idea why! 2nd time over an hour late , 3rd time over an hour late, they have the cheek to charge for delivery on top of Liberty taking prices eg .85p for 1 papadam. Go somewhere else, they quoted me an hour and 15mins to 1h30mins and turned up at over 2hrs and 15mins. And food was cold .

Tuesday night being 'special' night, or cheap Tuesdays. For good reason. Covid rules soon flung out the window, the waiter seemed to feel it acceptable to not where a mask and to get overly close when taking orders and serving. Hygiene standards were really poor with regards to recycled sweets with your bill that no one liked and the toilets were disgusting. As for the food and service was equally poor. I expect it to be slower being "special' night but waiting nearly 30mins for a main to come out which had clearly been sat for a very long time. A shashlik that tasted of a fajita packet mix and that came out soggy and not sizzling, incredibly disappointing! Waiter was almost throwing our food onto the table and was quite obnoxious. Did not feel warm and friendly like other Indian Restaurants I have been to locally. Not for us again.
