Just great value roast beef dinner with all the trimmings . Even the medium portion is a banquet and what a great idea as it caters to children and the elderly . The Yorkshire puddings were top shelf and the stuffing which was unique indeed . I was told no iys not a dumpling . Cabbage , carrots , roast spuds , mashed potatoes . Had to undo the belt . Washed down with a creamy pint of Guiness . Called back another day to savor oinion bajis and some nibbles great after a walk on the beach . Great staff , cosy stove , can`t wait to go back . St Mawes is a pretty little village and well worth a visit if, like us, you’re staying in nearby Falmouth. Having listened to the recommendation of the ferryman on our way across we were also taken in by the attraction of a £10 lunch. Unfortunately, whilst the welcome was a warm one, the food was a bit of a let down. I know it must be hard to deliver Fish & Chips for a tenner and whilst I applaud the pub trying to attract non-seasonal custom, I think they would be better off offering a choice of good quality sandwiches than trying to downsize main meals. Also be warned that the price of a pint here is not cheap - £6.10 for a local pale ale might be OK for visitors from Chelsea or Surrey but not for those of us from the north!

Never have I experienced such rudeness from one of the members of staff from behind any bar. Rude indifferent and just downright ignorant. We were a group of 8 living locally and were rendered almost speechless by the service we received. We all stayed for one drink due to the fact that one of our group had bought drinks and we didn’t want to leave them behind enemy lines. In this time of economic problems im surprised this lovely old pub can survive with such rude staff.

We should have looked at TripAdviser first. Despite all indications to the contrary, we had a very disappointing evening meal. Both starters were, at best, indifferent and largely tasteless. My gammon steak was tough and overcooked although my wife’s meal was quite acceptable. A pint, a gin and tonic and two glasses of wine brought the bill up to the eighty quid mark, money we could have spent better elsewhere.

Over many years coming to St Mawes we’d not for some reason made it to the Victory. A local friend tipped it so we came for lunch on Sunday, all tired and hungry after an exciting sail. We were greeted warmly, served efficiently and we were wowed by the food. I didn’t get much of a look in (which usually means that my family of greedy so-and-sos have enjoyed their scoff…) But the second-paw account has it that the Cornish Camembert starter, the salt and pepper squid & the chicken curry were especially good. Thank you team Victory for a lovely lunch. It’s not your fault that my family left nothing for me…

What an absolute disgrace. 3 small chicken wings for £8, a tiny dish of squid and two miniscule somosas for over £20. When I complained their defence was that it's cheaper than other similar establishments in the area. Haven't been to Cornwall for years, and if this is what it's like I won't be back. If you want good food, don't come here. I feel ripped off.

We were staying 50 yards from this, the only 'pub' in St Mawes. We'd booked a table in advance and were shown upstairs. Staff were attentive and polite and then the food arrived and it was very, very good - far better than we had...

Visited twice once for drinks only after a walk and the second time for a meal. It is a nice traditional pub but with modern service and food. Highly recommended.

Very expensive for what it is!! Dry baguette with ham (tasty ham) and cheese, a bit of salad and coleslaw (not very fresh) and a flat white came to £13.70!!! So stunned at the price I just paid it. I live in Truro and certainly won't be going again!

We visited this pub twice during our short visit as the food was so good and very reasonably priced. On our first visit we had the freshly caught cod and chips which really did look like a whale on a plate. Would highly recommend this place and the staff were really helpful and friendly.

Had a standard cappuccino here and it would've cost me less to get a taxi to Lidl and make it myself. Probably would've tasted better too.
