Had been away for the weekend, having been to wether spoons for breakfast yesterday and being bitterly disappointed we thought we'd try abbey view as we had been yesterday for lunch and enjoyed our potato and leek soup. The breakfast was amazing everything was fabulous including the service. Thanks.

We have visited a couple of times recently, for a full English, and a bacon sandwich. Not the cheapest, however portions are huge, and quality ingredients including local butchers meat is clearly used so overall value is good for what you get. Both coffee and teas are fantastic, and staff are efficient and helpful. Would definitely recommend and will be visiting again!

We called in for lunch and both decided on the 'all day breakfast' and wished we hadn't. It looked alright when it arrived, but the quality was poor. The tomato was tinned (ok, some might like them), fat oozed out of the fried bread and hash brown as you cut it, the bacon was fatty and not very well cooked, the mushrooms were tasteless and the sausages weren't very good quality at all. The slice of toast I had was that hard I couldn't bite into it! All in all very disappointing!! I left about 2/3 of mine.

I had a Sunday roast it's the worst I've ever had, cold frozen veg, dried up chicken breast, and lumpy gravy, the whole dinner was cold, inedible. My friend had cheeseburger and chips, chips were mostly black and cold. It's a disgrace sending food out like this to the paying public, it's not cheap either. I hope the management take a look at the reviews and make some big changes, no pride in anything. Such a shame for such a prime location and a lovely garden centre, the cafe really does let this place down massively.

Came in last Sunday with my friend, it was a lovely little garden centre with friendly staff and beautiful view. I had beef and my friend had gammon. I have to say the beef was cooked beautifully and my friend vacuumed up the gammon so assuming it was just as good as the beef 😂 I have to add that the mash and potatoes were delicious and will definitely be back! Also a very good value for your money!!

Inconveniently, the specials board is located after the till, so you can see ‘what you could have ordered’ once you’ve ordered. The worst Sunday lunch ever. Everything soggy. Soggy roast potatoes, soggy nut roast, soggy broccoli, soggy carrots, soggy Yorkshire pudding. My husband had soggy chips and burger in a soggy bun… you get the idea. Would recommend if you’re very old and have no teeth.

this is the first place we always call in on our annual trip to Whitby and up until now we have loved it, unfortunately they seem to have changed suppliers as the food was disappointing. They always had Bothams scones and bakewell slice and a Fords sausage roll but these are no longer available. I showed willing and ordered the Stonehouse bakery scone and it was dry and I struggled to eat it. My husband had the lemon drizzle cake and said the same thing. They no longer sell Fords products and did not fancy the look of the Radfords savoury products. We will still continue to call here on the way to our holiday cottage but we will be avoiding the bakery products unless the suppliers change.

We came for Sunday lunch, but decided on a chicken burger that my husband said was lovely and duck hoisin wrap which I thoroughly enjoyed. The chips were disappointing, soggy and not up to their usual standard. I love the coleslaw, homemade and not swimming in mayonnaise. For some reason the service at the till was very slow today, maybe a second person making drinks might have helped. Overall we enjoyed our meal and will return.

Previous visits were very good, however latest visit was very disappointing. The ‘view’ of the Abbey and Harbour are no longer a feature as the hedge alongside the cafe is now so overgrown that no views are possible, the only view now consists of stack upon stack of bags of compost! Not a pretty view. The window sills were covered in dead flies.. Additionally the food was way below usual quality, salad was very poor and Scampi and chips also bad tasteless scampi and mediocre chips. Really sad as I used to make a special journey to Whitby just to go here.

We are on holiday down the road and have been in twice to the Garden Centre. Was hoping with it being a Farm Garden Centre the there would be free range eggs, meat etc but unfortunately not. We visit a lot of independent garden centres and this one needs someone with a bit of oomph to get it improved. The layout of produce needs improving and better quality gifts would be good. The cleanliness needs improving, attention to detail. We had a dog with us so we were restricted to the outside terrace which is a good idea, however, it needs constant cleaning from all the bird poo and the tables and chairs need regular cleaning too. We visited a garden centre near Southport which had a similar terrace and it was a pleasure to visit and eat and drink, no so here, I am afraid. We had coffee and cake, the coffee was hot and that’s all I can say about it, the cakes were lovely. I don’t know what the inside of the cafe was like or how good the food was but if a centre attracts people with really good food and gifts and is spotlessly clean and well laid out, the business will do well and not feel a bit jaded, sorry, but I am a passionate gardener and garden centre visitor. We are getting to the end of the season but I happily bought a stone toadstool, which was different to what I have seen at £20 and look forward to taking it home. I believe in rating places as I find them and I hope you find some of my comments helpful. Your pet section was really good and we spent another £20

Although this isn’t a particularly large garden centre there is a decent selection of plants and gardening equipment and accessories. As is now an essential part of such businesses, they also have a decent gift shop area which I initially thought was a tad on the small side, but which incorporates a couple of extra wee rooms to browse in. The on-site cafe is large and bright and also has extra outdoor seating. It serves the expected range of hot and cold food as well as snacks, cakes etc.All in all, although I wouldn’t deliberately travel far to come here, it is certainly worth a visit if you are in the area.

The cafe has had a makeover and was inviting although I think this has put the prices up as it was more expensive than my previous visits. The views from the cafe really are amazing – you can see down to the sea and the Abbey. I had the full English breakfast which was pretty basic. The quality of the sausages were poor. It was however hot and plentiful and I would call in again when next in the area. The staff are always friendly. There are toilets available in the garden centre which were very clean.

I often pass this place I notice a sign outside saying Workers Breakfast £2.80, felling hungry, I thought I would give it a try, I worked in wearing my work clothes, and I ordered a breakfast, the girl said that will be £7.50, I almost fell through the floor! I told the girl I wanted the Worker Breakfast, she changed the order for me, I waited a good 10 minutes, the she handed me a very small bun dry unbuttered with one slice of bacon cut in half inside, talk about rubbish value for money, if I wanted just a bacon butty I could get one at any roadside burger van for half the price and double the size, nothing like a breakfast as advertised, the girl never smiled no please or thank you, never again, My advice to any work calling in for a workers breakfast DONT you will get a shock!! as for the £7.50 breakfast she tried to sell me, there is no way any one in there right mind would pay that sort of price for a breakfast! you can get a three course pub lunch for that price, workers beware!

Had visited the garden centre once before and had a lovely coffee and cake, so decided to go again today. Had a look around the lovely things in the shop, then went into the cafe and ordered a cheese scone, sat down to eat and noticed something on the scone which looked like mould, so I looked closer and thought it was probably just some pepper or something, as it was warm as if fresh, but picked it out just incase. Tasted lovely, but didn't quite fill the hole so I decided to have some cake, but when I sat down I straight away noticed a little green spot on the icing, which looking at it was definitely mould, so I had a closer look and sure enough the cake was actually furry with mould! So I took it back to the (chef?) And he offered to swap it for another slice! No thank you, one slice of furry cake is enough for me! But it makes me wonder what on earth is going on in the kitchen where nobody can see if they've got mouldy cake on the counter, and also the cafe floor needs a good clean, there's bits of food and tissues all over the place, I don't think it's ever seen a sweeping brush or a mop!

We have just been for lunch and we found it a refreshing change that we were offered two options for size of meal, when ordering from the specials board. The staff were very pleasant and helpful. The food was well presented and really tasty. We will certainly return!

This is a lovely place to visit. Very spacious, lots on menu. Day we went had been extremely busy so for full range of food go early if your fussy. Good facilities for kids. Nice telescope feature which is free. Giving you great view of Abbey. Nice clean toilets and big range of reasonably priced gifts.

Lovely garden centre, we had our two dogs and sat on the covered outdoor seating where they are aloud, good value, get what you pay for, lady we ordered with was friendly, food arrived one order was wrong. Chips with some bacon but loaded with cheese, which my younger sister is allergic too, so took away and rude man came back with it slammed on table still wrong, we didn't get a chance to say anything before he had slammed it down and rudely shouts if that's wrong you just have to suck up and eat it and walked off, so we swapped around between us what we were having, also found a piece of bacon in a pescaterian's sandwich salad garnish nobody comes to table to ask how food was so didn't get to say anything lovely view though. Also went to buy some dog treats checked back as one of our dogs have allergies and we're 6 months out of date. Asked if any fresh and they said there's loose ones but didn't bother as how can you tell if they are in date.

Stopped here as it was on our way home from Whitby. The food was well below standard for what could be expected of a transport cafe, let alone a Garden Centre. Awful. Will eat in Whitby next time

This café has very large windows looking out across the fields to Whitby Abbey and the sea beyond. Gorgeous. The food and drinks are fine, nothing special, and be prepared for a wait at the counter, there only ever seems to be one person to take your order, make the drinks and take your money. However, once you've paid the wait for the food to arrive is not long at all. The tables were cleared and cleaned very quickly once vacated by the customer and the café is nice and clean. As are the toilets.

Haven't Been for a while so called for Sunday lunchPortions were always large and I often didn't finish so opted for smaller size today. What a disappointment, hardly any veg other than what looked like tasteless leek. Rosaries were awful and don't know what had happened to the yorkshire pud. Partner had the pork, he left a lot of his meal.Overall disappointing, slow to be served but girl serving seemed ok.Will be a while before we return

Lots of free parking. Easy to find on the outskirts of Whitby. Large restaurant inside with outside eating area as well. Great as the outside area allows pets. Garden products and bric a brac for sale.

We called in for lunch since it's only a short distance from the Whitby car boot. The sunday roast was popular, but we opted for sandwiches - egg mayo, corned beef. OK, but Wifey was annoyed because the corned beef didn't fill her sandwich, and I only got half a glass of milkshake with a lot of froth on top.Nice views over the fields towards the abbey.

After schlepping around the car boot for what seemed like hours I was relieved to find that breakfast was still on offer at this cavernous café. the staff were very young but were quite serious - not a long wait for the cooked full English and it was quite tasty. the best part was the amazing view over the fields - all in all quite adequate

You will find this delightful cafe within the garden centre just before you get into Whitby the food area is large and has possibly the best views over the Abbey and the sea there's a telescope for people wanting a close up view. There's a really nice choice of meals and the drinks and cakes are delicious try a scone they are melt in the mouth possibly the best I have ever tasted.

Visited this garden centre today on way to Whitby. The plants on sale looked very healthy and there was a good selection to choose from. The garden centre also sell lots of signs and knick knacks to and are displayed to great effect in the Old Barn.We decided to have a light lunch here and had a bacon bun each and tea, later we decided to have a fruit scone and tea. Both snacks were very good. Our snacks were served quite quickly. The cafe was quite busy but food orders appeared to be served promptly.Would visit again.

Generally this place is OK if you like transport cafes. The staff are sometimes rude and often the floors are littered with stale food from sloppy customers' plates. The staff don't seem to have any brooms to sweep up when a customer leaves. Sometimes you have to wipe your own table but again, as a traveler I am used to mess. The tea is good, coffee not so good and the food is served up with very little enthusiasm.

I have never seen such blatant racism in my life. This is 2024. People of colour and like minded people walking into this Jim Crow, antiquated backwards establish please be aware. To put a note not to offend is outrageous. We should be all tolerate of each others differences. Obviously a person who's not well versed and travelled. How can society move on when we have people who think that it's reasonable to offend people who are just enjoying their vacation. White privileges allows one to laugh, turn a blind eye or to offer a rationale for their inherent racism. Being White I can only apologise and say that the majority of educated White people just want to live in peace and unity. Should be ashamed. Schools visits! How do teachers explain gollywogs in todays society as being acceptable.
