Delicious food and excellent service, couldn’t have been looked after better. Highly recommend a meal at the Viceroy of India.

Just had a really nice takeaway from the Viceroy. Food was delivered on time, and was nice and hot. Everything well cooked and really tasty. Very impressed, and would recommend.

We have been travelling for some weeks now from Australia! Needed some tasty food away from the all too common deep fried options. This restaurant was excellent - the food, service and friendly staff made for a very enjoyable evening. The Tikka Marsala was spicy and the portion sizes were generous! Well done Viceroy of India.

It was my grand daughters birthday yesterday 7/1/23 and she really wanted to go to the Viceroy and so glad she did as had a wonderful evening. The food was amazing and the service was excellent. We will be back in April as my grandson wants to go as well after last night.

Our son, daughter-in-law & grandson took us to the Viceroy last Sunday evening 3rd April which is their local Indian restaurant in Virginia Water. We have been there several times with them & never been disappointed with the food or service. Viceroy is a really comfortable clean restaurant with plenty of space between the tables, certainly no problem for parking either. We had the the Sunday buffet all trying something different really enjoyed by all of us. Lovely evening served by friendly efficient staff, not forgetting the excellent food prepared by their chef.

Our son, daughter in-law & 8yr old grandson took us to the Viceroy last night Sunday 2nd Jan. We all had something different off the menu which was very tasty & well presented. The waiters & manager are very friendly, efficient & nothing is too much trouble. This is a very comfortable, clean restaurant with plenty of space between the tables. There is a superb food menu & good selection of wine or beer Parking right outside is a bonus too. We highly recommend the Viceroy & dine there regularly/

Went to the Viceroy Indian restaurant last Sunday evening 30th May with my wife son & grandson for their buffet deal. The food was delicious, served by friendly efficient staff & management. The restaurant is very comfortable with tables spaced well apart & plenty of free parking in the parade right outside..

Just had a wonderfully tasty meal delivered to us , chicken makhani, rice and lamb tikka masala . Delivery was speedy and by a lovely man , food hot , plentiful and very enjoyable 👍👋😃

I usually walk past this restaurant. The Eat out and help out scheme encouraged me to go in and try the food. The restaurant was very basic in regards to the decor and the furniture. Not posh at all for Virginia water. The service was slow. There appear not to be many staff. The food was very disappointing. I had butterfly prawns and it was mostly pastry. I had prawn bryriani. The sauce had cabbage. The prawns were shrimps. The food tasted bland. I have had diarrhoea and vomiting after eating at Viceroy. I am so upset. I did not spend money to get sick. I will be reporting them to the authorities.

We have visited this restaurant twice now food is good but the owner and waiters are really miserable never smile make you feel like why are you here ?? Customer service is key in the restaurant business dont think we will go again here disappointing as it is near our home

Probably the third time we have eaten here and this was as good as, if not better than, previous visits. Main dishes are full of flavour - tonight I had tilapia fish, which was delicate and delicious. Wine is very reasonable and ambiance is good. Mid week it’s reassuringly populated, but not full, and service is unobtrusive but attentive. Nice evening.

Went to this carzy dive in a upmarket area which homes footballers and film stars tonight and was disappointed! Asked for 8 poppadoms got given half eaten lime pickle from previous customers on table next to us. Honestly had about a spoonful left in the bowl. Starters were ok then the mains were awful, lamb tougher than mike tyson in his hay day. Sent it back, got under cooked lamb which they clearly thought was tender. Was revolting I sent that back and didn’t pay for that one. My mates chicken masala was tangy and not as expected overall terrible meal with a bill of 140 for 4 people. Staff were apologetic but unfortunately will not be coming back to this awful restaurant . Thanks for the free cobra for your f—k up but still doesn’t match the mess you made us paid for. Never again!!!!!!

My son took us to the Viceroy Indian restaurant last Sunday evening 21st April for a family meal as four adults and one child. The food was excellent, delicious, freshly cooked & well prepared Unfortunately the kitchen staff were let down by the dining room waiters who are unsmiling & non friendly, causing a cold atmosphere. Unlike other Indian restaurants not far away where you are made to feel welcome & want you to enjoy your visit, not just eat & go. Perhaps Viceroy waiters should be made to visit one of them and learn how to make their customers feel valued & want to return.. Others have also commented on this which is a pity when the food is so good. . .

We ordered alot of food and it was delicious however we had left atleast half of it because we were so full and asked for it to be packed to take away for later. We waited an hour and no waitor attempted to even look towards our direction. After an hour we called the waitor so we can pay and get our food. They simply replied that our food was thrown away and knocked off only £2 of our main bill. Half of my korma was left , two nearly full bowls of rice and bombay aloo , plus half a naan bread. We intended to take away the rest of the food anyway as i don’t eat as much as my boyfriend and he wanted to order me. We were dissapointed. It ruined our evening.

Great food as always,but you can feel takeaway orders take priority over guests in restaurant.On a number of occasions in there busy period you can't even get a waiter to take a drinks order,when you arrive,you have to work at them to come to your table.

Disappointing foodI had a craving for a curry yesterday and checked out viceroy on food standards and had a rating of 5 so thought that's safe and pictures looked good, so ordered a takeaway for delivery, I ordered tandoori king prawn masala, boiled rice, naan bread, onion bargee, onion salad and poppadoms, I was advised 30 minutes deliver it turned up 1 plus hours later,I have to say I have never in my 40 years of eating curry had such a bad one plus have had upset tummy overnight I ate half of the prawns hoping it might get better silly me, not a happy bunny the only thing worth eating was the onion bargee,Tesco do a better job I am sad to say. There was no flavour the naans seemed to be from yesterday the king prawn had not seen the tandoori and had a strong taste on lemon, the rice was watery and even poppadoms seemed stale sent a FB message and got the reply we have served the local community for 35 odd years well maybe time to change chef as he might be a bit old to be cooking such rubbish avoid at all costs I will be asking food standards to revisit as when I looked it was from 2017 my mistake for missing that one

A nice Indian restaurant in quiet Virgina Water with plenty of parking outside (2 hours on signs but not in evenings)The staff are lovely, if a little hasty in trying to take your order and the food is served very quickly – no time in between starters and main course which was too quick for my taste and I would prefer to have a rest between courses.The food itself is good, a little small on portion size and I question as to whether its freshly cooked to order as it is served so quickly, it could be a little spicier but overall good quality and you could always ask for the spice to be moreThe drinks are expensive but food is of a similar price to other Indian restaurants in the area.Would return but would ask them to slow down.

I’ve been working in the area and love my Indian food. This place had the best rating locally so I visited. The restaurant was empty which may have been because it was a Monday night, but the Spice around the corner was half full. I found the menu underwhelming, so went safe and ordered a chicken Korai, tarka Dhal and plain paratha.The food was out in 5 mi utes which I found a bit disturbing as obviously it’s pre-cooked. Now I’m not stupid I know a Korai and Tarka Dhal would take too long to make on the spot, but what about the chicken element? I would rather wait for it to be cooked fresh. When it came out the tarka Dhal has no texture at all, it was like baby food. And absolutely no flavour.i doused it in sat and pepper. The korai was cold. And the paratha was nice but only one small bit, normally when I order this we get two or three bits. The food was really poor and I won’t go back. Such a shame.

Have visited a few times as this venue is very handy for parking & has decent food.

Very good food and excellent attention in a very clean environment..... If you know Indian food you'll find a very good variety of dishes here, otherwise you could either follow the recommendations on the menu or ask the maître... All in all a very good dining experience, worth at least a second visit!!

Went there for a birthday party. Great food , service . And great ambiance.the price was very good. And lots of parking spaces

We visited this restaurant for a family birthday party booked for 1pm. No mention when booking that we would be asked to leave at 2.30 because they close. At exactly 2.30 my Son whose birthday it was, asked to see the pudding menu, only to be told they were now closed and by inference we would need to leave. We felt rushed to order our meals as well. We felt very uncomfortable, and would not revisit this restaurant again

we were taking the kids to Legoland, and afterwards looking for food. we stumbled across Viceroy, and OMG, what a find.

Slightly different than other India fayre I have experienced in the area, I have been pleased to return. Food is of a good quality and variety, Menu extensive. Have visited twice in the past month and would suggest booking to be sure of a table - a good sign in itself. Easy parking out front.

This is one of our favourite restaurants in the local area to eat at. The Sunday buffet menu is fantastic value. Topped of with the service from the staff who are always friendly and familiar it makes a great place to eat for a quiet Sunday evening. I highly recommend giving this place a visit and you'll be impressed with their range. They cater for everyone from spicy to creamy!

My first time to Viceroy but after my company had been here before I was eager to try it and I wasn’t let down ( too much ).

Loved the sag paneer, onion and mushroom bhaji. Really lovely food and quietly assured service. Thanks for a lovely evening.

We haven't visited the restaurant for about 10 years due to moving out of the area but had fond memories of it. We called in for an early evening mid week meal so the restaurant was quiet as one would expect. Service was okay, difficult to comment on ambience as there were only two other tables, decoration was as I remembered it but was okay but the food was very very average. On this basis it may well be another 10 years before we go back.

Debido a problemas de tráfico en mi zona por la carretera M3 - obras, no pudimos llegar a nuestro restaurante indio favorito, así que pensamos en probar otro. Después de conducir el pasado dos establecimientos porque no se pudo encontrar ningún aparcamiento, pensamos en probar ya que hay un amplio aparcamiento justo fuera. Estábamos un poco preocupados cuando entramos por la puerta, como sólo había una mesa ocupada, pero fue a mitad de semana, con lluvia torrencial. El personal era muy amable y nos sirvieron bebidas inmediatamente. La comida era increíble y no demasiado, a diferencia de algunos restaurantes que te darán mucho arroz. Como era tranquilo el personal sentí lo suficientemente cómoda para venir a charlar con nosotros y nos hicieron sentir muy especiales, incluso el ofrecimiento de una bebida en la casa. Sin duda volveremos para probar otros platos en el menú.

The Viceroy is nothing if not consistent.Both food and service are always good staff are attentive but not on top of you all the time. I particularly like the location of the Viceroy as it's very convenient for the station if you had a couple of beers.Nothing stands out but on flip side you know you will always have a good meal discreet service.Mixed Gill is always very good and prices given the location are reasonable.You won't be disapointed if you visit and if you fancy a drink the station is only a few minutes away.4 bubble Very good

The menu is pretty standard Indian, with nothing exceptional. Service was surly and grumpy, not pleasant. Food was alright, but will not rush back.

Brilliant lunch and 10 out of 10 yet again from my 7 year old son for the chicken tikka masala...... Then a lovely surprise gift for him

Very good naan and pickles and sauces. Not a big fan of The raita. I had the vegetarian Thalji. Nice way to try lots of dishes. Keema naan was very good. Would go back.

We visit this restaurant six or more times a year for dinner. As a couple, with friends and as a small group. The staff are always welcoming, the food is good the wine is sound and the service is good. They seem to have increased their prices a little recently but it is still excellent value for money and very relaible.It is a family restaurant and it can be noisy. A few more drapes might help to reduce the noise but if you want to avoid noisy children, go a bit later - they open quite late.

Seemed a nice pleasant restaurant to get a good Indian for our work night out. Arrived on a Wednesday night and was nice and quiet. The majority of us ordered separate dishes. The mains tasted good with me opting for a chicken pasanda. The house wine was a little dire but I don't expect it to be an amazing. Sadly 3 of us had stomach problems when we got home. Which having all tried the same dish can only be down to one of the meals.

I've been fortunate enough to visit this restaurant on many occasions even though I live in the United States now. The food has remained consistently good and their chicken tikka is outstanding. The onion Baji is fabulous and they always have real mango chutney. It's a locals favorite and sometimes attracts the occasional VIP.

This is a great restaurant - one of the tastiest food I have had - the selection was so good from starters to main meals and side dishes it just kept getting better. It has become a regular place for me to go and eat there if not order to take away. Would be absolutely perfect if the service smiled more.

We often pop in to the Viceroy as an end of week treat after work. Food is always great, although the atmosphere is sometimes lacking if you go before 7:30. Service occasionally grumpy!

Although we moved out of Virginia Water three years ago will still make the trek here from Paley Street from time to time.The food is always freshly prepared, very tasty and not heavy.The staff are polite, professional and friendly. A relaxed atmosphere which can be romantic but child friendly too, my five year old is very happy here early evening.

For a Thursday night the restaurant was not busy. The order took a while to take- although drinks came quickly....The meal was well cooked with The main of paneer shashlik delivering as expected. The staff were attentive if a little slow, and the food was reassuringly good. Cobra zero on the drinks list was a tick in the box....!

I've been to teh Viceroy on many occasions and it truly is one of the best Indian restaurants in the UK.The food is great and the service very good. The toilets are so clean you could eat your meal in there!

A Monday evening, very quiet, only one other table occupied. Service was poor considering there was no-one there, interrupted our conversations a lot with unnecessary questions. When we were finished and paid the bill....got up to leave and was almost chased asking "have you paid" there were only two staff there, it would have been more appropriate to ask the other staff member if we had paid, rather than looking confused and making us feel we were 'doing a runner' without paying! I wont be returning, even though the food was good, the atmosphere was miserable. Restaurant also very cold, needed a jacket.

Came on a friday night, booked in advance for 2. Service a little slow to begin with, could have taken our drinks order earlier. Food excellent, the tandoori (which my girlfriend had) was outstanding, best ive ever had. I had the byriani which i couldnt finish so they bagged it up for me. All in all a good Indian!

I had dinner here after a long walk around the nearby lake, they serve Kingfisher on tap which is very nice to see.We were seated very quickly and politely and given the food and drinks menus in good time, while being offered poppadoms immediately. The waiter requested that we ordered drinks first and once we did, we proceeded to order a mixed vegetarian starter, two curries, two naans, and rice.The starter was very filling but tasty, the onion bajis were especially good. The rice was well seasoned and beautifully light, the curries were very flavorsome with wonderful complexities of flavour, and did not contain too much oil or cream.The total bill came to £50 including service and drinks which was very reasonable,Unfortunately I wasn't able to finish the meal as I was too full from the starter and quite tired as it was late in the evening, but the waiter made a point to ask if everything was ok, and generally all the staff went out of their way to make sure we were well catered for.These small details are not to be overlooked in the service industry and it the reason I would highly recommend this restaurant. I would choose to eat here again if i'm in the area. Small talk with the staff was also very pleasant, very nice people all of them. Thank you!

Friendly staff, good food, perfect for dining in or take way. The quality is consistent, never had a bad meal.

4 of us visited here for dinner and a catch up. Good service from the start, warm welcome and shown to our table. Good size menu with many classic dishes. No starters were ordered but we did enjoy poppadoms with different chutneys whilst browsing the menu. Food arrived in good time, the beers were lovely and cold, what more could you want? The food was lovely, really can not fault it. I had a thali, which consisted of 2 bowls of different type curries, rice, man bread, spinach and tandoori chicken pieces and lamb. The main was £15 which I thought was great value for money. A very good restaurant which I highly recommend. The price is for our meal came to £98, 4 mains, 4 beers and no additional side dishes. But with the polite friendly and efficient service it was all well worth it.

I mainly get takeaways but the food is gorgeous. Sadly it never seems full and it should be as the staff are friendly and the food is really good.

All good- the service is efficient, the menu has a decent number of specialities and I have to recommend the mixed starters for two; not the cheapest of curry houses but you wouldn't expect it here and I think it's worth it.

Excellent service, even during a busy time. The waiters were very attentive and polite. Had a sharing meat platter and two curries, the food was delicious. Would definitely go back and would recommend to anybody. We had a wonderful experience.

Was a regular when living in the Village so always first on the list when visiting from new home in Canada. Friendly welcome, good service and atmosphere. Food very tasty and well presented.

I've been to this restaurant many times before over the years although not recently. It's always been a decent Indian although for many years it had no real competition in the sleepy Virginia Water area. However when I visited last weekend with family & friends things were far from good. Service only average and food acceptable but my advice before booking would be to ensure the extractor fans are repaired as we were close to tears (not tears of joy) by the fumes.

It might have been because the restaurant was busy as it was the weekend of the PGA, but I was very disappointed with the food we were served last Friday. The portions were small, it looked like they had run out of 'normal' sized dishes, and the food was warm at best. The sizzling curry wasn't and the korma was over-cooked. All very disappointing.We've visited often and have always been more than satisfied with the food and service. Not this time!

No complaints but the restaurant has nothing to distinguish it from many Indian restaurants. If you are happy with the ordinary, fine but look elsewhere if you want something more inventive.

The Viceroy is one of my favourite Indian restaurants with great food and wonderful service.My wife and I regularly go and enjoy a meal with a very varied menu with traditional to speciality dishes.The service is attentive and always working hard to make your stay a relaxing one.I haven't had a bad meal and have been over 20 times. Go and try it yourself!

As a local have eaten in and used the take out many times. Always friendly staff and great service, even when busy. Food is always excellent and very tasty. Such a bonus to have a good Indian so close to home!!

Having lived in Virginia Water since 1992, this restaurant has always delivered great food, great value and some of the most friendly staff. Have eaten there as a couple, with friends and also with my small children...have even used their takeaway service. Never once had a complaint; and long may it remain

Have dined there tonight with friends and still the same consistent excellent service and best for miles.Cannot recommend highly enough.

The Viceroy never fails to disappoint! Lovely food, friendly staff. Love to come here on a Sunday when the deal is on, so much flavor in everything, will always be one of my favorites.

Have visited twice with two good friends, at Lunchtime. One both occasions we were the only customers!Can only speak as we find and cannot comment on evening trade. Food excellent on both occasions with great shared starters and excellent biranys,onion bhajees and vegetable curries. Service great, obviously being on our own the staff were very attentive. Only criticism would be waiters are sometime difficult to understand.

Tucked away in a quiet parade of shops in Virginia Water, the Viceroy truly is a hidden gem.Lovely food, nice ambience and prompt, attentive service. Okay, the menu veers toward the slightly obvious, but what they do they do very well.I will add the Viceroy to my list of trusted favourites for a good tasty Indian meal next time I am in the area.Family meal (2 adults, 2 children) with soft drinks and half lager cost around £60. I was happy with that price for such nice food.

Local sub-continent restaurant that keeps it simple with a basic menu very well prepared with great flavours. Enjoy the onion bhaji's crispy and succulent. Mains are typical and i enjoyed the dopiaza and our friends loved the tikka's and pasanda's!Service is attentive and friendly.A local that deserves its reputation. Good value for money.

We visited the Viceroy recently, the first time in years and had a thoroughly enjoyable family meal.Service was excellant-the waiters were very attentive and the food was superb. Have always been a fan of the Viceroy. Have been many times in the past and have always been very happy. We have visited twice in the past few months and experienced great food, excellent service and great value for money. We have friends who live on the South Coast who come to us for their "curry fix " and absolutely love this restaurant too.

I have been going to this restaurant for years . I have tried other Indian restaurants , but we always come back to this one. I would recommend Sunday evening as the have a £9.95 menu which entitles you to a starter , 1 main dish, 1 side dish , a rice or a naan bread, which is exceptional value. I like the staff here as they know us well now and even seem to know what I am going to order ! I must be so predictable . I agree the seats need to be changed , which I think they are in the process of doing , but we go for the food not the décor.Try the onion bhajis they are the best , lovely and crispy.

Its been about a year since my last visit and the food and service remains very good. We had a team business meal, with some last minute additions to the numbers, but the service was excellent and no problem fitting the extra people in. The service was quick, the food freshly prepared and hot (in terms of temperature). My only slight disappointment, is the same as my last review, the heat from spices is a little on the mild side than other Indian restuarants, but otherwise great variety and quality food.

I can definitely recommend the Viceroy. We have either Take away or eat in the restaurant. The food is good and the price is fair. We just ate twice in the Restaurant. Service is nice, Saturdays can be quiet noisy in the Restaurant. All the food we had so far was really tasty.

We have been to the Viceroy 6 times in the last 6 months. With friends, in a small party (of 8) and with the grandchildren. Each time the food has been excellent and the staff attentive.On one occasion it was quite noisy but I guess that is because it is a popular 'family' restaurant. We will certainly be returning.

We have been coming here regularly for both takeaways and meals in for many years now. The service is always faultless, the waiting staff friendly and polite and always ready to welcome you back with a handshake. The food, as well, is always of an amazingly good standard. I simply cannot fault this place!

The food is fantastic, the service is brilliant. I would definitely recommend the chicken chat, its one of my favourites and its really good there. Lovely restaurant, I would return without a doubt.

Very good food. Tried the Indian white wine too - glad I did so but would make a different choice next time. Decor is looking a bit tired and needs to be updated. Our evening was spoilt by a large and noisy 60th pary crowd during which the waiter sent our wine chiller flying - we should have been told a large party was due and we would then have chosen a different table. Better customer service needed here, though staff are friendly. I might go back again sometime but there are other Indian restaurants I prefer.

The food is always bought to the table hot (even had takeaway & plenty hot enough after 3 mile journey home). The staff & extremely friendly , the choice is vast & the meals very tasty. The meat is so tender & plentiful .Not been disappointed.

It is not often that you can visit an Indian curry house and come away thinking that no food could be bettered - and this last visit cam the closest I've ever been!Just the vegetable samosa, in the mixed start for two, let the meal down. Otherwise, everything was excellent.My wife and I agreed to share a starter. With a mix of onion bhaji, aubergene pakora, potato pakora and vegetable samosa, we thought we were on to a winner. As mentioned, the veg samosa did disappoint. It was cooked well but bland. The bhaji and pakoras, however, were some of the best I've ever tasted.This boded well for the mains - Lamb Jalfrezi and Chilli Chicken. Absolutely staggeringly good. Both plates were cleaned and we almost wiped up the dishes with the remaining naan bread, the taste was so succulent.I can't remember having a curry that was so delicious.So, my apologies to the Viceroy for starting out this review with a negative - It was just a small one. This is the closest I've ever come to a perfect Indian meal.Next time, I'll choose a different starter and hope that it will hit 100% satisfaction.

Visited last night in a large group, we all enjoyed the food, the service was also very attentive. Unlike the previous review we found the food nice and spicy. The dishes are fairly priced as well. I would recommend The Viceroy. I have been three times and have not been disappointed.

It's been 3 years between visits and I must say, not much has changed including the menu. The food is very nice and the staff are always friendly. My one complaint is the same as it was 3 years ago - the food is not spicey enough. The flavours and the taste are very good, not in question, but a dish advertised as "fairly hot" should be exactly that, not medium at best. I am not someone who eats the hottest curries, but I do like it on the spicey side, but not too much you loose the flavour/taste. Therefore, I would recommend the Viceroy, but don't be fooled by the descriptions.

The food here is generally excellent - especially the 'dry' chicken dishes, but sadly their sides (e.g. mushroom bhaji) are swimming in oil and best avoided

Always enjoy the food here. The Sunday buffet just makes it better. Don't be fooled by the description there is nothing buffet about the buffet menu. It's just a case of pick any starter, main, side and bread of rice for a fixed price. £9.95 is great value, there are a few things which attract a supplement. Very good.

Visited here with colleagues for an evening meal. I normally don't like Indian food at all and would never normally eat in an Indian restaurant however being the minority, I went along praying there would be a European selection on the menu. There wasn't!After a genourous and delicious serving of popadoms and chutney, I opted for the mildest and safest option - butter chicken and shared steamed rice and a garlic nan with 2 other colleagues. The portions were very genourous and I have to admit, the chicken was delicious (i did clear off most of the sauce but only because i'm trying to watch what i eat!) Everyone thouroughly enjoyed the meal, the wine was delicous and the service good but rather slow. I wouldn't rush back but don't take that as a negative, I would rather go to a restaurant where I had more choice due to my food fussiness! It was busy and that says something for a restaurant on a Wednesday night and my colleagues have all said they would go back again too.

I'm from India and all I am going to say is - my mum never cooks me food like that ! Staff were nice ab d friendly......

I live in Virginia Water so I often come here for curry, and every time, it doesn't disappoint. There is a huge range of curries on the menu, from the mildest curry you've ever tasted to a curry so spicy you'll start sweating! Not the greatest dessert restaurant though, the ice-creams taste like plastic, I recommend going to the Budgens down the road to get a nice ice-cream!
