Extremely disappointed. Order Chicken and Chips for both myself and my mother. Chicken was over cooked and dry. My mother asked to see a member of management and complained about the chicken. The lady wasn't apologetic and said that she would take off the price of the chicken for one of the meals. I had hardly touched my meal. Management are definitely not customer service orientated. Won't be going again.

Top quality meal at reasonable price friendly staff nice surroundings. Food was piping hot and delicious 😋 restaurant was nice with a friendly atmosphere.

Visited here yesterday for lunch. Fish were very large and tasty, the fish and chip meal was worth the price, but the service was a little slow. Waitresses standing about waiting for customers, but I had to ask for another coffee more than twice with two different waitresses and after half an hour, still had not got it. I could understand if it was busy, but there was only a handful of people in at that time. Overall, good food and clean area. Service needs brushing up a little. Will visit again.

A former National Fish & Chip Shop of the Year (as Les’s Fish Bar in 1999), the quality of the food is still excellent. Value is great too. A huge plate of cod and chips in the sit-down table service restaurant is just £10.50 (January 2024). Unfortunately, like most towns, Crewe is a bit run-down now, with most of the units in the Victoria Centre empty and even Poundland (formerly Virgin and Woolworths) closed. The restaurant is starting to look a little shabby these days, and it isn’t as busy as it once was, but the food is still a ‘5’. Convenient for the town centre, parking and bus station. Worth a visit. Take-away is also available.

Excellent fish and chips, quick service and friendly staff. The only problem I would have is that they don’t clean up after messy customers u til the end of the day bar a quick wipe of the tables so it’s a 4 from me otherwise would have been a 5

Fantastic fish and chips but a tad on the expensive side. Good peas too! Staff were friendly and accommodating. Place seemed clean to us and will be going back.

I have been here a lot of times now. We have sat in side the restaurant and had it delivered to the house. It has never disappointed me or the family. The chips are cooked perfect looks like the oil in the chip pans are changed regular as there as no black bits on the chips unlike other chippy s in Crewe. Keep up the good work. ❗

This is difficult to write as freinds took us there today and they were paying .on entering the dinning area it felt realy cold people sitting eating with coats on no welcone from staff after going to 3 tables we mansged to find a nearly clean one. Waitress came to us no hello just stood while we orderd dont think she wanted to be there. After she went i looked roubd fikthy char next to me carpet never been cleaned for years old food next to us di didnt say anything as didnt want embarras freinds.when waitress came back wiyh drinks my freind said to her its a bit messy on the floor to which she shruged and stood on the waste food.the food arrived my fish was like a waffer so thin taste was ok when yu found the fish but my wifes pudding wast cooked the suet was wet and stcky she becond the waitress told her quietly it wasnt right her reply was it is a pudding thats what they are like and left shaking her head .peas seemed cold out of tin .my wife left her meal my freind went to pay she said to waitress that the puddung was keft on plate and could sge have it knocked off the bill at this point sue owner came over said it was cooked thats how they are my freind said are you knocking it off the bill reply was No. In all bad visit will never return .customer service none existant. Cleaner friendlier places ti go ..i know they got 5 star hygiene rating but dosent show in dinning area .

Absolutely fantastic food I had the fish dinner battered cod, chips peas tea and bread and butter cost about £9 and my wife had a jacket potato this was a large spud with cheese and she struggled to eat it all, I ate all mine but was full after, great portions and lovely friendly helpful staff, we live in crewe so when in town at the weekend we call in for our lunch marks out of ten 11/10 highly recommended 👍

We had a lovely meal here. Staff were lovely and friendly, order was taken quickly by a nice waitress called Gem and food came not long after. Food was piping hot and freshly cooked and tasted great. Brilliant value for money too.

The staff are lovely here. The food is very nice and not bad portions. A bit pricey for certain dishes but lovely so don’t mind.

I was very impressed with this chippy. My son and I sat at a socially distanced table. A waitress took our order. I had the standard fish and chips meal deal and my son the mini one. You get a drink with your meal. My son had a cup of tea and I had a can of orange tango. Bread and butter provided with the meal. I had lovely golden brown chips and plenty of them. A massive piece of cod in a light batter and very tasty. I also enjoyed my mushy peas. My son enjoyed his mini fish and chips which was still a large portion. A very clean and tidy chippy. Pleasant and polite staff. They also take cards as a payment method.

So so disappointed. Waited awhile for seemingly fresh fish to be cooked. Soggy mess, fat much to cold to fry decent crisp batter, ditto chips anemic Luke warm and soggy, £5.95 in the bin. Disaster. Fish and chip perfection is an art, this shop failed to produce anything similar to perfection. Ok if you are not bothered what you eat.

I was Racially abused by staff here beware when going here if u are Non white. I was with my Girlfriend and she is white i am mixed raced, the comment was about us being together this is not a joke this is Bang Out of Order!

From 5* down to 1*! AVOID UNLESS YOU WANT A BAD CASE OF STOMACH ACHE AND DIARRHOEA! I had a very bad reaction to the fish I bought from there last Saturday. I sent them a message asking very politely if they had had any more instances of this reported and they stated that there was 100% no way it would have been food bought from them: it was the only food I had eaten that day. I will never eat there again.

new to Crewe and one very bad experience at Grants butty bar. But this place is another level.. superb friendly staff and excellent tasting food. Happy with the price and have been back about 12 times now since we moved here 10 weeks ago !!! so our new guilty pleasure once a week for a top notch supper. Visited this Crewe chippy on many occasions. The fish and chips are always freshly cooked and they are excellent. And you don't need a bank loan either! A chip batch is £1.50 and will fill any empty tum.

Keep away!!! Just stopped throwing up, burger in batter in the middle was no thicker than a gnats bollock!!!!

We arrived and found a table it was quite busy. Waited a long time to have order taken and even longer for food to arrive, when it did it was lukewarm and chips were like mush

I visited this chippy with my wife and we ate in. The staff were ok the food was good. The temperature of the room was cold. considering the price I found this disappointing and will not go back till summer time.

About the only business open down this road.Nice food but the decor is a bit tired and grotty.Needs a makeover.God value and service.

The food was very nice and swiftly served. However a fridge was being delivered whilst we were in there and they had to go past where the food was being served so was a hygiene issue. Also, the door where the ramp was was not in use so people with mobility needs were struggling down the steps. Not good.

Top quality food and service, the crew always seem to be working at 110%. Would definitely recommend, even if you haven’t time to sit in you’ll be in and out in minutes

Wow the Fish and chips are fantastic fish was size of a whale with light batter which wasn't running with grease all the meal came hot had the Fish meal with chips,peas,bread and butter and either tea,coffee or soft drink very well priced would recommend this chippy to anyone. ☆☆☆☆☆.

The food was lovely and plentiful. Plenty of people in there. A bit pricey but nice. Staff are very nice.

DIVINE - The large haddock/cod is to die for. Very crispy.. We like our chips well done - just ask. you get. Want your drink after your meal - just ask you get.. In fact nothing is too much trouble. The staff are very friendly & professional. If you want something that is not on the printed menu - like salad in place of peas or beans - just ask.

I have been several time and its grate, good meals good price good service good hygiene and the waitress’s are friendly pleasant the food is so nice and not over cooked and even tho it’s mostly busy you don’t have to wait a ridiculous time for your meal and is always served with a smile everything is always clean and I love going to get some good old British food

Have been here a few times before, each and every single time, a mistake is made. Usually have chips with a spicy curry as I was told the spicy curry was dairy free (dairy allergy).. They brought a fruity curry (dairy in this) after telling them this was a mistake, they then accused me of ordering wrong and they got angry with us.

We go for our lunch at least once a month the fish is beautiful and always fresh the small fish dinner is not small and comes with bread and butter and a drink

Nunca había estado en crewe antes, llamada en pescado y patatas fritas. Todo estuvo bien el plato era cálido, el bateador fue justo y las patatas fritas no estaban greasey. Pero en la mayoría de cafés, etc, es el centro de la mantequilla en el pan. Aquí el pan es manteca correctamente, personal amable, limpio y ordenado. Vale la pena una visita

I was refused a child's menu, I have had cancer, and part of my stomach and oesophagus removed, I therefore can't eat a normal sized meal. There was no offer of a smaller meal. Total lack of compassion despite my explanation. I'll never go back. The waitress was very apologetic.

the windows were so steamed up you couldn't see in. the tables were dirty and food was served on dirty table - i had to ask them to clean it. when the family sitting next to me finished they removed everything but again didnt clean...

Used to love coming here years ago however I think the awards went to their heads and now it's very overpriced and nothing special really .. we visited the one in Earle street last week and that will be the last time .they served my freind a cup of flat coke and when asked if it could be changed the sarcastic woman said owww I will ask .5 mins later she slapped another cup .i say cup because even though they call it a restaraunt they serve your drinks in a cardboard cup . Won't visit again .ohh and the second drink was flat again . Not good .

The menu at this fish bar is very similar to many others we have always found the food to of be good quality excellent service and a very clean eating area worth a visit

Visited Sat 17/09/2016.Food was fab, staff were friendly.One helped us to our seats as we were with my disabled mum.Immaculately clean, cheap and food is delicious.

Good service but expensive due to the location (center of town , expected I suppose) Better option is pioneer chippy Underwood lane. Cheaper and faster.

I visit every now and then for some lunch with my kids. We like to sit down in the cafe. Was there recently and ordered two fish dinners. Fish was done to perfection, not too much batter and cooked lovely. Chips are great too. Has to be one of the best chippy in Crewe or even as far to say mid Cheshire.

Absolutely gorgeous fish and chips. Very fresh fish in a light crispy batter. Cafe available if you want to eat in. It's such a shame that they don't open in the evening at all. I know they did trial a late night - but not enough people knew about it so sadly it didn't last.

Come here regularly with my nana when we shop in Crewe. We both always have the fish dinner with tea and coffee. I always ask for gravy as an extra and the girls are always happy to help. Reasonable prices and somewhere nice to just sit and relax after an afternoon wandering round the shops.

What more can you say then. I highly recommend Vernons for chips and a battered sausage for lunch. The staff are friendly, the food is cooked to perfection and it has a really nice atmosphere.

The title says it all really. The food is good quality and freshly cooked. The waitresses are great. The place is very clean and the decor is very nice. This is a very good place for lunch in Crewe. :)

Vernons. Is one of the best restaurants ever! The food is always served piping hot by really friendly staff. The fish and chips are lovely and crispy. Even better is the delicious steak and kidney pudding. We visit every week and are never disappointed.

We went for a late lunch so not busy, service was quick. The young girl was very pleasant. I need to go on the internet so i asked if they had wifi. The young girl wrote the password and gave it to me. I was not able to get on, she came back over to see if i was ok. She helped me to connect. 100% customer service. Food was good

Vernons Fish Bar is opposite Wetherspoons where we had intended to have lunch. (it was awful inside). If you fancy a bite to eat, buy it here not at Wetherspoons. My business associate (from London) was a bit shocked to be taken to a 'chippy'for a meal, but the service and quality won him over.We had an excellent meal here, fresh, well cooked and served with a smile, price was good as well.

Been here a few times recently changed its name from Les`s to Vernon`s but still the same clean and friendly establishment. My only negative comment would be they had no Haddock and i love a battered Haddock.Vernon`s also does Take Away.Although this Fish Bar does not have its own parking there is ample pay and display parking nearby and also a number of Disabled Parking Bays opposite.

I love this place. It's very clean and tidy. There food is very nice and served hot. The prices are very good. The staff are very friendly and love having a good chat with there customers.

Never been to Crewe before but spotted this place within 5 minutes of getting there. Its a proper fish restaurant, clean, well laid out, with a good menu and very friendly staff. Had the Fish Dinner. It was £7.25 and included fish, chips, quite the best mushy peas I can recall anywhere, bread and butter and a pot of tea. The waitress was lovely and the food - cooked to order - was nothing short of magnificent! I cannot recommend this place more highly. Would have given it 6 stars if I could! Worth going to Crewe for alone!

Having eaten here recently whilst in town in november (which was spot on) i thought i,d treat the family to a takeaway tea. I can honestly say the food was 100%! Fantastic Fish (lightly battered with a soft fillet inside) Fresh Chips, PROPER Peas (not flourescent green) & the staff were very happy & helpful, wrapping everything how i wanted so it wasn,t all stuck together when i arrived at home! The prices were more than fair & I will definitley be going back to both the restaurant & the takeaway in the future.

Eaten here a few times. Staff very helpful and polite. Food of good standard and reasonable prices. Very clean, including the customer toilets.

Used to be Les' Chippy, now Vernon's. Spotlessly clean including the toilets with a hygiene rating of 5 which is good to know whenever and wherever you choose to eat out.Orders are taken quickly and drinks and food arrived shortly after. Food is piping hot, tasty and portions are about right, you can choose the portion size if you want to, takeaway also available.

Great fish and chips a choice of portion size and a good menu if you want something else. Service is excellent and it's good value for money.

Had a meal here had fish chips and peas the fish was over done and very greasy left in to long I think , I did mention about the fish and she was not really bothered so will not go there again

Tried vernons fish bar for the first time last week , very clean and tidy resturant the meal was the best fish and chips i have had for a long time free ddrinks with meal service was good, will return when shopping in crewe again.

I've been going to Les's fish bar with my father and grandfather since it opened in Crewe. Les's was renowned as the best fish and chips in the area by far and when it came under new management we feared the worse.When we arrived at Vernon's Fish Bar the restaurant was almost empty but we thought we would give it a chance. The lady that served us was very pleasant, the cod was the best piece of fried fish I've ever eaten and I've eaten fish and chips all over the UK - North, South, Seaside. The chips were made using fresh potatoes and delicious, the peas were perfect - where most chippies slip up.It was the best fish and chips I've ever had, anywhere.

I was out in the town and I had noticed that there had been a change of ownership and thought I'd check it out, I wasn't disappointed, I visited with my son and a friend and her daughter, instantly we were made to feel special by the manageress, she was polite and friendly and very welcoming. The food was hot and tasty and the portion sizes were more than satisfying, my son received a free drink with his meal and we were delighted to see they do snugbury's ice cream too!! I Couldn't have asked for a better experience, I will definitely recommend Vernon's fish bar to all my friends and family in the future

Ignoring the 'Review' from Brian (possible threatened competition - well sounds like it!) we really enjoyed our meal here and will definately be revisiting very soon. Food was really good value for money, large portions and tasty to boot! We found both the service and atmosphere outstanding and our children loved the Snugburys Ice Cream desserts. My standards are very high and Vernon's met my expectation - and then some. Don't change a thing and we will be back very soon.

I visited Vernon's fish bar as I was in town with my family there was a wide range of food on the menu for the kids as well as me and my wife the food was excellent the portions are big.The kids enjoyed there meal and there free drink. The staff are very friendly and helpful we will be visiting again

We had heard great things about Vernon's Fish Bar (formerly Les' Fish Bar) and therefore made a point of visiting when we were in the area. We were not disappointed. The cod was exceptional, moist and flaky and perfectly complemented by the batter with its secret ingredients, and portions were huge. We could have happily stayed in there all afternoon. I have eaten at award winning fish restaurants previously in Lincolnshire and Birmingham and this place beats both of them. Come and see what all the fuss is about!
