Didn't eat, just a quick drink with a friend. It was a miserable day, but the beautifully lit Riverside terrace made up for it. The wine was delicious, toilets spotless and service was quick.

Went here with my 2 month old baby and our friends - never again. Staff was incredibly unhelpful, rude and food was awful. No changing rooms, and staff were unbothered about helping us find a solution of where we could change our son. Very disappointed, as the look of the restaurant is beautiful inside out.

Lovely place for a coffee and snack. Well worth a visit

I come quiet often, 3 times a week average. This week, whilst the staff were lovely as always and the baking was great, I did over hear, who I assume is some form of owner, talking unfavourable about a member of staff who was not there because she was sick. Very unprofessional and I will be taking my custom elsewhere.

I pop in most Saturdays for a coffee. I love their coffee and madeleines usually, as well as their friendly service. But the last 4 times I visited, the service has changed and been unfriendly, they’ve run out of madeleines very early and we’ve had to wait up to 20 minutes for a coffee. Disappointing. I’ll be finding a new Saturday coffee place.

Fantastic food, beautiful quirky decor and great staff. I went for a family lunch and had the pork belly with dauphinoise potatoes, pancetta cabbage and a black pudding bonbon. It was all absolutely delicious and presented wonderfully. The rest of the menu was an interesting mix of modern cooking and classic restaurant food. I would have happily eaten anything from it! The food is a little on the pricey side, but it's not extortionate. There's a great selection of drinks, especially spirits, but also good beer and soft drinks. There's indoor and outdoor seating, the outside area is next to the river which is lovely on a sunny day. Overall a great experience and highly recommended.

Verdigris is positioned perfectly in Tonbridge high street and naturally attracts passers by due to its location and appearance. A great spot for lunch, dinner and even a coffee. We have been many times and having previously been with the family for a coffee on a weekend a few months back, we commented at the poor service. We held off writing a review as we thought it may just be a one off. However having popped in again recently, the service was the same. No hello, no smile, just order taking. Even when paying the bill at the end there was no interaction or ‘thank you’. It wasn’t even busy so that excuse can’t be used. The last time we were in just after opening time and someone was hoovering the dining area room. Either get there early and hoover before opening or don’t do it when there are customers sitting and eating/drinking! You can’t fault the location, decor and food or drink from what we’ve had but the service can benefit from some improvements!

Popped in for a coffee to meet up with a friend. Cannot comment on the food but the plates brought out looked nice enough. A very relaxed place with music just below conversation level so didn't have to shout. Excellent location in town and a perfect place to meet up. The decoration is tasteful enough to give the place a nice ambiance.

I visited saturday, or should I say tried to. There was a party going on in your outside area but I was told it was a private event so I could enter, however that being said there was no signage to say that it was a private event, The young man I spoke with was rather rude and snappy about the whole situation. I was told by another member of staff, that in fact it was not a closed event and I could stay. While I did stay I did not enjoy the rudeness or the way your employees speak to each other and especially about customers. I had overheard one of the young men objectifying a customer from the party and the sexual things he would do to her, which quite frankly is disgusting and disgraceful behaviour! It is safe to say I shall not return. Either your staff need retraining or you need better and more conscientious and courteous staff!

Stumbled across this delightful little place in Tonbridge. Right next to the bridge, enjoyed a lovely luncheon. Portions on the small side and spaghetti instead of fettuccine as stated on the menu. Not a great deal of choiceon the menu. No gluten free options. Otherwise, I would have given 5 stars for the food.

Unbelievably arrogant bar staff. Their main “bar man” was drinking on the job. Awful experience, the way he spoke to the staff was frankly disgusting. Such a nice bar but their staff need a wake up call

Popped in for a coffee was met with a BEAming smile and a delicious piping hot sausage roll with whole grain mustard from the on site baker Lenny , also chatted with the bubbly goth chic who was also working behind the bar happy vibe. Might pop in one evening for a pint when the creepy guy with the beard isn’t hoovering 😉

Pastries and sausage roll were cold and not fresh in the morning, the kitchen wasn't able to heat up by my request :(

Took a friend for Sunday lunch at Verdigris I have had had drinks in here many times before but never eaten Anyhow , we both had the Roast Beef with trimmings and a side of greens Needless to say the beef was perfectly cooked (medium rare) which the staff had said it would be My friend said it was one of my he best Sunday lunch’s she had had tor ages I would say , roll out he barrel & treat yourself to a day out in Verdigris You won’t be disappointed

This is a beautiful looking restaurant. The decor is gorgeous and the balcony overlooking the river is gorgeous. The food was very nice and the staff were excellent on a busy Saturday night. We had a great time.

Stopped for a quick drink to take cover from a hot Sunday, lovely decor and looks like a proper cocktail/wine bar. Really nice drinks options but we went around 2pm on a Sunday and observed that their staff didn't seem prepared for people wanting food beyond their kitchen closing times or that attentive in dealing with people. Their timings for food are 12-3 but we saw multiple people annoyed by this not being clear or how staff were communicating this to them, one member of staff was particularly rude to a woman with children who came in and seemed to lack any customer service training, making it awkward for everyone watching. Another person came in having sat outside for half an hour and not knowing the kitchen was closing and when she confronted someone who had just arrived on shift, the manager was nowhere to be seen to support. Wouldn't go back if I'm honest as overall attitude of the place had an arrogance without the level of customer service or expertise to back it up.

Stopped by for a relaxing drink with my wife on our visit to Tonbridge. We were not dissapointed. We sat at an outside riverside table. I had a refreshing pint of lager, my wife ordered a gin and tonic, both served immediately by excellent friendly staff. Ten out of ten, I highly recommend this bar.

We went for coffees and cakes and both were delicious and very reasonably priced. The decor was beautiful and the lounge chairs were very comfortable and stylish. Great friendly service too!

Such a wonderful place. Comfy seating, relaxed ambiance and the staff we so wonderful and polite. The two younge ladies, Bee and Natalie were lovely to chat to. The coffee is superb and the pastry that comes with it is delightful, freshly made that morning! What’s even better it’s by the river which is nice to watch swans parade by.

Something Different to Tonbridge, not cheap but worth the ambience.

We were visiting Tonbridge and walked by and it looked so attractive we popped in for a drink. Beautiful decor inside and out and very friendly staff. A pity we don't live closer as would frequent regularly

A great bar well located in the center of town. Overlooking the Medway River. First-class warm attention. Very polite staff. Fast service!! I recommend it !! In summer its terrace is a luxury

Wow - went this Saturday and the whole experience was first class. Outstanding decor, comfy seats, leather wine lists, you can see no stone was left unturned. I had the duck which was fabulous and my wife had the Ox cheek which was melt in your mouth. Great wine also. Just first class all round. Highly recommend. Oh yeah and we shared the desert which was a perfect finish.

What a lovely and friendly place to have an early morning coffee and a bite to eat. We came in wanting a coffee and breakfast. Whilst it doesn't offer a cooked breakfast, it does offer smaller bites to eat. The sausage roll I had was delicious (Haywards sausage meat, so a winner already!). My friend had a freshly baked cinnamon bun, which he rated very highly). The coffee was good too!

Sublime. The service from arrival to departure was top notch. Very well looked after and we both chose to have the Monkfish as a main which was beautifully cooked and presented. The taste combination of the Haricot beans with chorizo along with the fish along with a perfectly chilled bottle of white wine was gorgeous. Would highly recommend as the top place to dine out in Tonbridge these days.

Found it by accident. Lovely food and great service.

We ordered some beer and coffee and a cheese board. Beer and coffee great. Cheeseboard was the oddest thing we’ve ever eaten. The homemade crackers were ok but the bread was possibly the worst, toughest bread I’ve ever eaten. The portions of cheese were very much on the small size and all of this was valued at £18 take £8 off and it may well have been worth it. The bread was stodgy the crackers were not as expected one being black! We would go back for drinking but not for eating it seems that they are trying to show this posh nosh exterior without being able to execute this!

We popped in on the off chance of having a Sunday roast and we’re told they were fully booked so we enjoyed a delicious coffee outside by the river as we were leaving a lovely gentleman came and told us they had a cancellation and could seat us for our roast if we were still interested. From the moment we were seated we felt perfectly at home the staff were so warm and welcoming and the restaurant itself was an inviting place and its 1930s retro vibes was done to the highest standard . Our roast when delivered were plentiful and was absolutely stunning to look at and to eat . The waiting staff was warm and friendly we will definitely be coming back

The bar area is very popular and attractive. When we came for a meal the restaurant area was very quiet. In spite of this service was very slow. This is a shame as the quality of the food is very good.

Decent beer selection, good atmosphere, good service. No chavs either which is strange for Tonbridge so that was a bonus. Nice setting on the river. Didn't eat so can't comment on the food. The blond lady who I believe manages the place was one of the most beautiful women I've ever seen, so that was also a bonus!

After 18 months of waiting I finally managed to use the voucher that I had bought for my son's 17th birthday! Verdigris very kindly honoured the voucher even though it was out of date as previous visits had been thwarted by covid. We loved the ambience in the restaurant and the food was fantastic. We had the signature beef and it was cooked to perfection. I must also mention Anton who looked after us superbly and guided us to a brilliant wine pairing. Thank you for a splendid evening.

Sadly, a previously pleasant environment (pre Covid) has now descended into a rudderless den of rudeness and disrespect to customers run by juveniles and inexperienced staff who literally have no respect to customers just to satisfy their own pleasures by drinking and entertaining themselves in situ, oh for the day when Verdigris was for the customer and not the entertainment of the staff (it is a mystery how they can afford to drink their all night!). Disappointing to say the least, only new ownership can turn this around.

It’s not often I feel compelled to write a review about a restaurant however whilst the restaurant itself is lovely and particularly good for Tonbridge I was shocked at the price of one of their starters. Having had two bottles of excellent wine I ordered some sharing plates including the anchovies. The plate consisted of one small tin of Spanish Ortiz anchovies and sourdough bread on a board. Due to the tiny print on the menu I thought they were £4 as you can buy the same small tin of anchovies in local delis (Hungry guest in West Malling for example) for about £2. I was therefore shocked to be told that the anchovies were in fact £24 and it was only the numbing effect of the lovely red Sicilian wine that softened the blow. Besides that the Arancini and other food was excellent. I think even our brilliant waiter was embarrassed about the excessive price of the anchovies and almost apologised. Lovely venue service and wine but avoid the anchovies perhaps or take your own!

Nice location on the river, but could be made more inviting. Drinks good but a bit on the pricey side. Only free table for our group of six (which was just inside the door and visible from the street so reall should be kept looking good) was dirty so we asked the bar staff if someone could clean the table and basically got thrown a cloth.

Came in for an espresso martini. Sat outside by the river which was lovely. I took one taste of my drink and couldn't drink it as it had an overpowering vodka flavour. Not usually what an espresso martini tastes like at all. I returned my drink to the dismay of the bar person who eventually did offer me a replacement but not in a friendly or polite manner. I was made to feel uncomfortable in fact. I understand his point of view, he had made the drink correctly IF he was using the usual coffee liqueur. However I noticed that he was using a particular brand of coffee liqueur (which I usually buy) which has a recipe on the back, I'm assuming it already contains vodka because the recipe simply states add 2 shots of the liqueur and one shot of espresso. He'd done as you would normally and added 1 shot of each vodka, the liqueur and espresso. That is why it tasted bad to me. He didn't understand my point and even when he made me a replacement and I asked him to follow the recipe on the back he only put one shot of the liqueur in so it was still unsatisfactory. I will stick to making my own at home.

We went here as part of a group of friends, and had an excellent evening with the waiters brining us cocktails to our table without fuss.

I have only given 4 stars, because we did not eat here. We hope to return for this. Our visit was to see a musician, A Mr. Joe Cox. We had two beers and a cocktail, the service was quick and attentive, two young people behind the bar who understood the ethic of working for a living, very commendable. Mr. Cox is clearly an accomplished musician with a great taste in quality guitars and songs that suit them. We enjoyed his set, cleverly played and sung, we are looking forward to our next visit. Highly recommended.

We had a good experience; the waiters were professional and attentive, the vibes were positive/good and the food itself was tasty. The dishes are aimed at sharing, rather than to be eaten exclusively.

Limited menu, but they knew exactly what they were doing with it. Beef rib shared between the two of us, outstanding advice on the wines on offer. The environment and furniture was cosy. One thing for them to consider: their website said no tables were available for reservation, yet when we arrived all tables indoors were empty. How much business does this lose them?

Been here twice now and the food is phenomenal . This time we went all out on the beef rib and it was the best bit of beef I have ever had. My husband is a bit of a beef fanatic - yet we have never had anything close to this. Quality ingredients cooked to perfection. So the food was that good it would take something major to Knock it off five stars for me but I will continue! Our server was friendly and very knowledgeable about the products. Initially service was timely but towards the end of the night we did seem to get forgotten about a bit. In all honesty this is probably due to the widespread staffing shortage in hospitality and how busy the place was. We sat outside on the shady terrace overlooking the river. In hindsight, for a "romantic meal", I would recommend booking inside as it's much quieter. That said the terrace was lovely and once some of the louder, "laddier" tables had left I did enjoy the atmosphere. It nicely decorated inside and out fitting the theme and would work perfectly for a romantic meal or just cocktails and nibbles with friends. The menu has a good selection not too much - suggesting it's been well thought out. As with the amazing and creative cocktails. The wine list on the other hand is VAST - I'm not a wine drinker so couldn't tell you if this was a good thing. Cocktails themselves were not cheap, I don't know enough about the spirits to know if the quality of them would demand a higher price but based on the quality of the food this would add up. I believe the outdoor area is also dog friendly, we didn't take ours but I have seen dogs in there and water bowls. Highly recommend

Decor is lush, acoustics are pretty good with a range of soft furnishings to soak up any clattery noises. Fresh coffee bean machine doesn't dominate the sound space and music is a good level. Staff are friendly and relaxed, helpful with cocktail info and stock all the up to date cocktail fashions (butterfly pea ;)) from interesting and unique suppliers and without skipping the classics. My banana leaf print dress matched the upholstery 10/10

It was presumed that I could not afford to purchase the drink I was after. Rude and disappointing experience.

Something must have happened to this one-time amazing restaurant. Our experience today was a shadow of our first visit eight months ago. To start, we waited 20 minutes until we realised nobody was going to give us any menus if we didn’t chase them. When our shared platter starter was served we weren’t given any plates or napkins but we survived. However, we almost died in trying to eat our main course, their “Signature Rib of Beef”. As the photo illustrates, the amount of fat and grease in the filets made it unbearable to chew, so we just managed to eat the chargrilled cabbage and bowl of mash for which we were still charged £30 (the “discounted” offer from the manager, from the original £70), even though we realised we were given the leftover of that dish. Unfortunately, the disappointment and ruining of a family day was too much for us to contemplate giving this lovely space another chance. The same thought must have occurred to a couple who left after waiting too long without without being served. A real shame for a restaurant with so much potential.

A place which has it all. Good vibes, great service, extensive selections of liquors and an amazing Dinner place. Had a few cocktails - I think the smoked Negroni was probably the beat of the lot.

Took a friend for lunch the soup was cold around the outside and hardly warm in the middle sent it back not much hotter when it came back no excuse food whatever price you pay should be hot won't be going back.

Unfortunately couldn't comment on food, just stopped there for a coffee. Staff friendly, sat outside next to the Riverside, but unfortunately work ongoing there, so not picturesque at the moment.

Visited recently for a 40th. Decent venue, bar tastefully furnished, outdoors beside the river had cosy lighting. Don’t remember much after 9pm due to my main man Anton decanting my glasses of red to the brim…

I had to sign up just to write a review because we were so incredibly disappointed. It's such a shame because this was a meal we had been looking forward to for over a year. What we did not realise upon booking was that one...

Would not recommend the cheese board for two. Over priced and says home made crackers which are actually about 5 strange back paper thin slate looking crackers which taste of nothing. and then a few slices of bread and no butter and not enough chutney. One of the chutneys was nice but I ended up crunching on a clove! Over priced for £18. Shame as won’t go back to try out the rest of menu which is very limited. It may be nice but not that varied and the cheese board has put me off.

Good for a drink and a nice heated terrace. The cocktails were lovely, my only critique would be the service could be a tad more attentive. But for the quality, competitively priced as well.

The food was delicious - highly recommend the scallop as a starter. The service was also excellent. I didn’t give 5 stars for one reason - the music. It was absolutely atrocious, and completely ruined the atmosphere. Notable songs included: Allstar by Smashmouth, About You...

Sadly the food hers is not good enough to justify the price point. At about £30 for a main it is a fairly expensive place to eat, but unlike places like the poet at matfield the quality of the food does not reflect this. I...

We had our Christmas lunch with verdigris again this year and it was superb as usual, many thanks to all the team at Verdigris for making Christmas so special

Enjoyed another catch up with a friend on the outside terrace. We sat near a heater, but still kept our coats on. We had to go inside to order. Tried the hot chocolate this time and it was very good, nice and chocolatey and not too milky. We both had the lovely cheese scones and butter, as my friend didn't have one last time, but regretted it. We both find they are very tasty and a very generous size. The cinnamon rolls looked good too, but always plump for the scones. Can't resist a good cheese scone.
