An unusual experience. We were guided to our table by a charming gent and within a minute of settling down, a waitress wanted to take the order. We were told that having sat down at 11:30, breakfast had just finished and the lunch menu didn't start until 12:00. What would have been more helpful could have been to highlight what we could order, rather than what we couldn't. Our order included a sausage roll, either hot or cold. We made the mistake in selecting hot. It arrived microwaved rather than baked and therefore had a disappointing soggy pasty. The cafe was not busy, there were plenty of staff buzzing around. No five minute check or enquiry of the experience during payment at the till.

What a truly lovely place this, was, We were on a weeks holiday in the area, , and came upon 'Veras' , Partner and I had lunch here first of all, . We both had the pork pie, ham and cheese platter, which was plentiful, and really delicious, The staff were lovely, really friendly, and very efficient . Couldn't fault them, . We liked it so much, that we booked for afternoon tea, later in the week, which, again was lovely.

The food is genuinely first class however the service can be less than optimal. Dont be suprised if you find yourself waiting for forty five minutes to be served and then your sweet turns up before your main course has been cleared away. Waitresses appear to prefer chatting to dealing with customers. Such a pity. Managers/supervisors, get a grip of your staff and you might have a first class facility

Rude miserable under trained young girls ( supposed to be waitresses?) Who really doesn't have a clue how to deal with paying customers. Had booked table for Sunday breakfast half hour before arrival, the waitress showed us to our table under a large air conditioning unit but eventually turned it off for us as she wasn’t keen to move us to a table we would have preferred even though we would have been gone in plenty of time! Another lovely waitress took our drinks and food order but we had to wait quite a while because the original waitress was now doing our drinks and kept stopping to serve people who came to the till to order! She eventually heated our milk up for about 5 seconds and when our coffee was delivered to the table the jug of milk was Luke warm and full of froth! Again the other waitress was happy to get another jug of milk this time no froth but Luke warm still (so glad I didn’t order a latte), ! Eventually our breakfast arrived and though they got the order wrong ( I substituted vegetarian sausages for real bacon), what arrived was vegetarian bacon 🙈 waitress took bacon away to replace as it wasn’t fair to my husband who would have eaten alone so I started on my breakfast, however the beans Tomatoes were tepid as was the hard poached egg ! Once my bacon (poor quality very fatty), arrived we just ate quickly and left! We often find the food quality and customer service inconsistent which is such a shame as some staff (chefs and waitresses), let the others down, other times we have had nice food and good service, such a shame we can’t trust that all the time .

The place was immaculate, the service perfect, so good we returned earlier the next day without the sleepy teens for a cooked breakfast! Combined with a wander around the garden centre and farm shop, picked up some nice foodie souvenirs and garden ornaments to remember our holiday. Lovely place for a rainy day too. Drinks, cutlery and the bill arrived soon after . Didn't have to wait long when the food came out. The other two people on the table were served theirs and I was waiting for mine. A few minutes passed when the bill was checked to find my order wasn't even on it. Fab-u-lous, not. I haven't asked as I don't want to cause a scene but will let them know on the way out how non-proffesional and incompetent they are. Obviously would not recommend or visit again. Have often driven past while on holiday, today we decided to pay a visit to Vera’s Cafe. The cafe looked very nice and was reasonably busy. You have to wait to be seated. There were tables available, but we were asked if we had pre-booked. To which we replied we had not. We were then advised that they did not have any tables inside available as they were all booked, but we could sit outside. Even though it was a nice day there was a bit of a chilly air to it. We chose not to do this ad did the couple behind us who walked out with us. I have checked your website again and nowhere does it advise pre-booking is advisable. Needless to say we will not bother again. But if you do decide to visit I suggest booking a table first. So you are not disappointed. Would be an idea if you yourselves Vera’s Cafe stated this on your Website.

Had booked afternoon tea for my friends birthday, as I had bought vouchers as a present. Disappointing from the beginning…. Sat down at our table to find a hair in my cup. Was asked what drinks we would like, we asked what was included to be told tea or coffee which was fine, however later found out from there lunch menu that I could have upgraded to a barista coffee for an additional 90p if I had known this we would have paid the extra to have a nice drink. We then had our afternoon tea brought over where it felt like it was just chucked on the table and then the lady just walked off without asking if we would like any more drinks. Once we managed to grab someone’s attention we asked what flavour the cakes and sandwiches were and we were told they were “sponge cake, eclair, strudel and pavlova” this seemed pretty obvious as I could see what they were I just wanted to know what the flavours and fillings were. At no point through the afternoon was I asked if everything was okay nor if we wanted any more drinks. I had to ask for some water which we never received, so had to ask again. At no point did we get asked if we wanted a refill on the hot drinks even though it is “unlimited”. Towards the end of the afternoon tea I and my friend felt rather uncomfortable and that we were being a nuisance to the staff. We felt like this because we had to keep asking for service as I had to ask for a drink and boxes etc. It felt like no one wanted to come and see if we were okay and the service was really poor and almost non existent, except for brining stuff to the table. I have had several afternoon tea’s and also serve them on a daily basis myself where I work so I feel I know the service that people should receive not only when paying this amount for one, but in general you expect to be treated with a higher quality of service. This was meant to be an enjoyable treat for my friends 21st birthday and I not only feel as though she has had a terrible experience but know as she had also commented on how poor the overall experience was. Unfortunately from start to finish this has been the worst experience I have had going out for afternoon tea. The staff were not attentive, came across rude and uninterested and made us feel like we were a problem. Really disappointed on spending not only good money on this but also for my friend as it was my birthday gift to her.

Was fantastic breakfast as usual. We are regular visitors and food is always excellent. Problem occurred when trying to book the next week for Christmas Lunch. Considering we travel 60 Miles the weather needs to be decent. Spoke to staff via Messenger day before booking who were very helpful Phoned to book and after a great deal of sighing we were allocated a table - until I asked if we could have the Christmas Lunch. Chef was consulted and a manager spoke to me to say i should have allowed 48 hours (fine if it was stated in the booking info) and then I was told that It’s December, it’s Christmas and We’re very busy. Well that much I already knew. It appeared to be causing so much hassle to squeeze two more Christmas dinners that we decided to stop causing a problem and go elsewhere. To be fair the manager did says that as a concession they would squeeze us in but we must not do it again. Our second choice were also very busy but found us a time/table with good grace and to be honest I think the menu Is better. On past experience it will be excellent too. Love Vera’s but the customer can sometimes be a nuisance. Food can’t be beaten but sometimes customer Service leaves a bit to be desired Also lost a Christmas tree sale through this too.

As a coeliac, finding gluten free roast dinners can be difficult, however, Veras coffee shop at AG Meale and Sons was recommended in a private group on Facebook. I ordered the roast beef dinner, with a gluten free yorkshire pudding and gravy also provided. When the meal came out, I asked the waitress if she would please double check if both the stuffing and cauliflower cheese were gluten free, as both are commonly made using wheat flour. Upon returning, the waitress had spoken to the chef who confirmed both items were indeed, gluten free. So I tucked into my meal, at the time feeling reassured that I would experience no adverse affects. Fast forward 3 hours, and I felt very ill and eventually was sick. Unfortunately, something from my roast dinner was infact not coeliac friendly, and I am extremely disappointed especially after double checking before I started to eat!

The welcome was a little officious but nothing onerous. Offered a table By the window and after that service was efficient and friendly Food was good. A full English for one and eggs Benedict for another. Slightly wondered at the use of an egg poacher but I guess in a busy restaurant that it may well be a necessity but this didn't distract from the quality of the food Ignore the negative reviews...written by people with unhappy lives. This isn't fine dining, but the dining is just fine. Quite frankly, I'd go back just for the coffee! Please, if you're in the area, do visit!

Visited Vera’s yesterday lunchtime, we were seated & ordered our food & drinks, waited for a very long time before the food appeared, which I have to say wasn’t particularly warm especially the portions of chips on our plates, which was mentioned to a member of the waitressing team & disregarded, I had to get up a couple of times to get our cutlery for our food as not supplied. It turns out the Environmental Health turned up unexpected so members of the cooking staff were pulled away which is unfortunate but having been in catering all of my life this really shouldn’t effect the quality of the food being served, unfortunately it did, not a great experience, I also had a 10% off voucher that I handed in but am sure this was not applied to our bill when paying. We have been today as a party of 7 for afternoon tea. The food and presentation was delightful. Very well priced and good value and the setting is nice and airy and clean. My only criticisms are the young staff, they could benefit with a bit of customer service training. Although the afternoon tea comes with unlimited tea/coffee, not once did anyone ask us if we needed anything, we had to repeatedly ask for a coffee refill and often met with blank stares. (Rabbits in headlights come to mind). The other issue was the vegetarian afternoon tea contained a tuna fish sandwich. When we did manage to attract a waitresses attention and she went to check with the Chef. she then came back to tell us the chef thought Tuna fish was vegetarian (again maybe some training on vegetarianism for the chef may be needed). They did however replace the whole plate with the correct veggie options and very kindly removed it from the bill. On a whole a lovely afternoon just a bit more staff training to earn those 5 stars.

We were made to feel unwelcome and that anything was too much effort. We had to sit outside as we have a small dog and there were many posters on the site saying they weren't allowed. Eventually we found where to sit but the gate had NO ENTRY on it. I double checked and the response was not with a friendly tone more of a sigh. I asked if a parasol could be put up if it rained lightly and was told it needed authorisation. Again the tone was cold. I asked if they could seek that authorisation. I didn't hear back so went inside and they said no it couldn't be put up as it wasn't waterproof. I was immediately offered a refund but said we would continue as the cake did look nice. The parasol looked as though it would keep a shower off if the will was there but NO was the answer so we sat open to the elements hoping rain didn't come. Whilst I enjoyed the refreshments I feel the staff need tome customer service training. If it was the last coffee shop in Norfolk I wouldn't go back. The only place we've found that didn't welcome us and our dog with open arms.

Drove from Norwich today, went in and waited at the front to be greeted. I had to ask if there was any seats available, I could see 2 empty tables. One lady looked me up and down, paused and said No. Totally understand that it's busy, but a smile, a hello and some polite customer service would have been nice. We won't be back.

Never disappoints. We had good service. The Sunday Roasts and vegetables were beautifully cooked, and perfect portion size. We've been before and we'll go again.

We’ve just had the most delicious lunch at Vera’s. It was hard to choose from such a great selection. However, in the end we both opted for Fish of the Day, which was salmon. It came with a generous amount of fresh veg and new potatoes and was cooked beautifully. The staff are all really friendly, especially the lovely Elisha ( what a credit to the business!) and the venue always has a welcoming feel to it. Well done and Thank You everyone x

Fantastic! We were let down by another venue that we had booked for a 75th birthday meal. Vera's were able to accommodate us at very short notice. The food was amazing! Especially the Steak and Ale pie, wow! Very filling and tasty. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Lovely atmosphere. We have tried the breakfast menu in the past and that's brilliant too. My husband said that going to Vera's made his day and he couldn't be happier. Thank you to all the staff for making his day special ❤️

A really interesting low circular building overlooking a wetland habitat, owned and run by the Holkam Estate. There's a large covered but open area with tables and chairs and a smaller enclosed café serving good filter coffee and a range of prepared on site light bites sandwiches, pasties and cakes. Not cheap but good quality. The rush and reed drinking water fountain in the middle is a functional masterpiece. The information boards are very helpful outlining what can be seen and why. The big carpark is a couple of minutes away and the beach is perhaps 10 minutes off.

We had dinner last night at The Moorings and it was absolutely delicious! We both had the cuttlefish to start, followed by sea bass and monkfish and my husband had the ginger cake with toffee sauce. All excellent. The service was friendly and efficient. We will definitely be returning!
